Cory Booker throws his support to Joe Biden. |
The New Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker is endorsing the former vice president.
So far, most (with exception of Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)) have endorsed Biden over his primary rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
In a statement, Booker said that Biden will "restore honor to the Oval Office and tackle our most pressing challenges."
In moments of crisis, presidential leadership is even more important. But time and time again, Donald Trump has proven just how incapable he is of rising to the occasion. He is dangerously unfit to lead our country through a global health challenge. https://t.co/UIIk2gh4ht— Joe Biden (Text Join to 30330) (@JoeBiden) March 9, 2020

Booker ended his campaign in January, pledging to do "everything in my power to elect the eventual Democratic nominee for president."
Booker's endorsement comes fresh after he secured the support of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick this weekend.
In the lead up to Super Tuesday, Biden nabbed the endorsements of Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Pete Buttigieg and Beto O'Rourke. They helped Biden propel 8 of the 14 primaries on Super Tuesday.
This endorsement from a former Democratic presidential candidate comes at a crucial time. The Michigan primaries are tomorrow. Biden and Sanders are locked in a bitter feud over delegates.
Sanders who has won the endorsements of Rev. Jesse Jackson has campaign hard in Michigan. He has given up Mississippi to Biden. The surrogates of Sanders are becoming more Trumpian and resorting to conspiracies to denounce Biden and those who support him.
Biden has strong support from African Americans. He so far leads against Sanders in double digits.
Booker, who ended his campaign in January after failing to qualify for the Democratic debate ahead of the Iowa caucuses, occasionally clashed with Biden on a number of issues, including his remarks about working with segregationist senators.
Progressive senator Cory Booker sees Biden as the viable choice against Donald Trump. |
Booker would eventually apologized for the remarks.
"I was raised to speak truth to power and that I shall never apologize for doing that," he added. "And Vice President Biden shouldn't need this lesson."
"There's a saying in my community that you've dipping into the Kool-Aid and you don't even know the flavor," he said. "You need to come to the city of Newark and see the reforms we put in place."
Booker will join Harris and Biden in Detroit, Flint, Saginaw and Grand Rapids.
Sanders has struggled to gain traction with Washington, DC lawmakers. His campaign is calling the endorsements to Biden a part of the "establishment" and have been harping Russian talking points.
Donald J. Trump is relishing in this division. He is basically trying to court Sanders supporters to vote for him.
