Sig Haig Passed Away!

Entertainer Sid Haig passed away after a fall.
A legend of horror and Blaxploitation movies, Sig Haig passed away at the age of 80.

Sig Haig (born Sidney Eddie Mosesian) was an American actor, film producer, musician and entertainer. He was acting in Jack Hill's blaxploitation films of the 1970s as well as his role as Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's horror films like House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and 3 From Hell.

A native of Fresno, California, Haig was raised by his parents who were Armenian. He grew up wanting to be an electrician. His acting career began by accident. He was having issues with motor coordination, prompting to take dance lessons. At seven, he was a paid dancer in a children's Christmas show and later joined a vaudeville revival show. 

He has musical talents like the drums. He was a master of music in swing, country, jazz, blues and rock and roll.

He was part of a band called the T-Birds and had a hit single. The song Full House came out to No. 4 on the music charts.

Jack Hill saw interest in him. He would become a staple of Hill's famed classics. Haig was featured in Spider Baby, Coffy and Foxy Brown.
Haig appeared in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses as Captain Spaulding.
He would be in movies like THX 1138 by George Lucas. He appeared in Diamonds are Forever, one of the many James Bond franchise movies.

He appeared on television. He was on Batman, Gunsmoke, Get Smart, Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Mission: Impossible, Charlie's Angels, Jason of Star Command, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, The Dukes of Hazzard, AUtoman, Just the Ten of Us, MacGyver, The A-Team and Emergency!.

At some point he decided to step away from the limelight. He didn't want to be typecast as the "bad guy" who always got beaten up.

He died on Sunday. 

Haig was hospitalized after a fall in his home in Los Angeles. While recovering, he suffered from a lung infection after vomiting in his sleep. He died on Saturday from complications of the infection.

He leaves behind his wife Susan L. Oberg.

He was an icon of the blaxploitation era. He was in movies with the Black goddess Pam Grier.
