Petara Cordero was a passenger in Smith's vehicle when the Lamorghini he operated blew a tire and crashed into the median. The two would exit the vehicle and stand by the side of the road when a drunk driver struck Cordero and the vehicle.
The woman who was driving the vehicle was not identified as of yet, but she is scheduled for a blood test to determine if she was too intoxicated to drive. The criminal charges will be aggravated homicide by vehicle, driving under the influence, operating while impaired, vehicular homicide, and unsure distance while operating a vehicle. The homicide charge in Ohio is assured 10 to LIFE in the iron college if the suspect is convicted. The driving charges will assure automatic bans for two years to a lifetime ban of operating a vehicle.

Chris Smith plays for the Cleveland Browns. He is a defensive end and a starting member of the team.
Smith and Cordero were allegedly leaving a restaurant when their vehicle blew a tire. The safest thing for the two was to stay inside the vehicle and wait for the Cleveland Police or Ohio State Patrol to come. Unfortunately they waited on the side of the median and didn't expect the possibility of a drunk driver to hit them.
Cordero was a first time mother and the two just celebrated the birth of their daughter, Haven Smith.

"Words cannot describe the sorry we feel for Chris following the loss of his girlfriend Petara," said Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam in a statement. Haslam is the CEO of Pilot and Flying J Travel Centers. Haslam's brother was the former Republican governor of Tennessee, Bill Haslam.
Cuyahoga County Boys, the Cleveland Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol are doing an investigation into the accident.
The motorist admitted she was under the influence. She was driving a Mazda when she apparently hit the young woman without warning.
