Joseph Charles Wilson, IV was an American ambassador who appointed by George H.W. Bush to serve U.S. Ambassador to Gabon and Sao Tome and Principe. He served the post in 1992 and stay on during Bill Clinton's term until 1995.
Best known for being the American diplomat who went to Niger to investigate allegations that Saddam Hussein was attempting to purchase yellowcake uranium; his New York Times op-ed piece, "What I Didn't Find in Africa," sparked fury among George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.
It debunked the claims that Iraq was building nuclear weapons.
They allegedly leaked the name of Wilson's second wife, Valerie Plame, a convert CIA agent.
Robert Novak wrote a column describing Wilson's wife which became a controversy within itself.

Wilson and Plame were vilified by the far-white agitators.
Wilson passed away at the age of 69. He passed away of organ failure at his Santa Fe, New Mexico home.
"It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of a true American hero -- Ambassador Joe Wilson," said Valerie Plame in a statement. "He had the heart of a lion and the courage to match."
The couple had divorced in 2017.
Wilson leaves behind four children from Plame and his former wife Susan Otchis. Wilson was married three times.
Plame is running for the open seat being vacated by Rep. Ben Ray Lajan (D-NM). The lawmaker is running for the open seat being vacated by Sen. Tom Udall (D-NM) who is retiring in 2020.
