Some years ago, I wrote a piece on how Facebook is causing chaos. I have turned the page on being liked or having friends. I rather just work and try to be a father to my child. I don’t worry about relationships nor I am going to rush to be in one. I am not concerned about people’s lives outside my bubble. If it doesn’t affect me, why should I fucking care?

Read my previous post if you willing to do so.

Mark Zuckerberg is the chief executive officer of Facebook. He and four former college dorm friends created the world's most popular social media platform from their Harvard dormitory. Co-founders Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes have distanced themselves from the company. Zuckerberg, his chief operation operator Sheryl Sandberg along with David Wehner, Mike Schroepfer and Chris Cox operate the social network and media company.

Anyway, the Associated Press reports that federal regulators asked Wednesday for Facebook to be ordered to divest its Instagram and WhatsApp messaging services as the U.S. government and 48 states and districts accused the company of abusing its market power in social networking to crush smaller competitors.

Yeah, Facebook has 2.9 billion users worldwide. It is the leading force in social media.

Letitia James leds the lawsuits to break up Facebook.

The largest presence in social media include: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat and Tinder.

The antitrust lawsuits were announced by the Federal Trade Commission and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

James is also working on state criminal charges against the Trump Organization and outgoing U.S. president, Donald J. Trump.

The landmark antitrust lawsuits, announced by the FTC and the New York Attorney General marks the second major government offensive this year against seemingly untouchable tech behemoths.

The Justice Department sued Google in October for abusing its dominance in online search and advertising -- the government’s most significant attempt to buttress competition since its historic case against Microsoft two decades ago. Amazon and Apple have been under investigation in Congress and by federal authorities for alleged anti-competitive conduct.

Mark Zuckerberg had a secret meeting with President Donald Trump during the elections. Trump was pressuring Zuckerberg to allow more conspiracy-themed far-right postings to survive Facebook's rules.

The FTC said Facebook has engaged in a “systematic strategy” to eliminate competition. It also alleges that Facebook scoops up smaller competitors like Instagram and WhatsApp to keep them from taking the No. 1 spot. Facebook “used its monopoly power to crush smaller rivals and snuff out competition, all at the expense of everyday users.”

Facebook got a hefty fine last year for privacy violations and instituted new oversight and restrictions on its business. It was fined $5 billion.

The lawsuit against Facebook was brought by New York, 45 other U.S. States, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territory of Guam. It says Facebook had a practice of opening its site to third-party app developers, then abruptly cutting off developers that it saw as a threat.

The lawsuit accuses Facebook of anti-competitive conduct and using its market dominance to harvest consumer data and reap a fortune in advertising revenues.
