President Donald J. Trump says he wants to create chaos if he’s not reelected.
The president will no longer be obligated to sign the bipartisan bill on COVID-19 relief citing its not enough money for American families. The Democrats were pushing for a larger relief package which would have given American families $1200 in “survival” funds. They also demanded more for states and localities. Democrats wanted to extend more unemployment funds to those who aren’t working due to layoffs and coronavirus restrictions.
Trump angry with the Republicans. He won't support their bills if they can't back his bid to turn the election in his favor. |
Trump had no part in the bipartisan talks. The threat of a veto of the bill could land the country into another government shutdown. This will be the third government shutdown in Trump’s presidency.
On top of that, Americans are getting fed up with Congress rushing to the last minute to pass legislation. They haven’t read the bills and there’s likely earmarks and riders.

Republicans in the Senate so quickly forget. Right now they would be down 8 seats without my backing them in the last Election. RINO John Thune, “Mitch’s boy”, should just let it play out. South Dakota doesn’t like weakness. He will be primaried in 2022, political career over!!!

The $900 billion relief was expected to give Americans $600 in “survival” funds, eliminate the liability on corporations if workers get sick, give unemployed workers an additional $300 in funds.
Trump made a statement on Tuesday night stating he will not sign the legislation.
“The bill they are planning to send back to my desk is much different than anticipated. It really is a disgrace.”
Trump said he wants Congress to increase the amount of the stimulus to $2000 for individuals and $4000 for couples, instead of the ridiculously low $600, Congress passed.
So I am guessing if Trump does veto the bill, the Congress will have only a few days before Christmas to compromise on a deal. Republicans are likely not willing to go further now they’re going to be “budget hawks” again.
