Massive protests happened today and it's grabbed the attention of the junk food media.
This protest was huge. It may have overshadowed the fuhrer's inauguration.
The protests against Republicans and their fuhrer will be ignored. The only way this is ignored is the protesters may find no interest in getting people out to vote. If they were capable of being out after the fact, why the hell they couldn't show up at the ballot box?
I am not a concern troll, but it sure would be nice to see this type of action in 2018 and 2020.
Nonetheless hundreds of thousands attended the big cities to call out Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence for winning on the negative. Many women are vowing to oppose Republican attempts to defund Planned Parenthood, repeal Obamacare and limit access to choice.
Major entertainers and politicians came out to the DC event to rally progressives to resist the government.
The Women's March is the sign of how many American women oppose policies proposed by Republican lawmakers. It also assures that Hillary Clinton supporters aren't going away quietly.
I refuse to tolerate hate. I refuse to tolerate intolerance. I refuse to tolerate sexism, favoritism, nepotism, Islamophobia, homophobia, and xenophobia.
I reject White extremism.
I reject Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence. I reject the notion that "we should get over it!"
And for the next four or eight years, I am going to be unrepentant. I will oppose Republicans if they decide to take us back to the "good ol' days!"
I support the Women's March and I hope to see more activism during the four years of Trump.
Janet Jackson cancels tour. The media claims that she's pregnant and expecting.
Some news made the rounds today. A famous pop singer decided to end a world tour for personal matters and her fans are excited about it. Janet Jackson might have a little bun in the oven.
"My husband and I are planning our family," she said, beaming in a video posted to Twitter.
Her doctors have ordered her to rest up, which means she's postponing the second leg of her Unbreakable world tour indefinitely.
"We're in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change," she announced in the video. "I thought it was important that you would be the first to know my husband and I are planning our family, so I'm going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you can try to understand that it's important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor's orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue to tour as soon as I possibly can."
Janet Jackson and her billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana are considering raising children and many in the junk food media speculate that Janet is pregnant.
Janet and her husband Wissam Al Mana.
The announcement does not make it abundantly clear whether the couple is already expecting a baby, trying to start a family or process of adopting a child. USA TODAY's request for clarification was not immediately answered.
In December, she announced she would have to move the tour back to the spring so she could undergo an unspecified surgery. A month later, she had to shoot down rumors that she was going to have to postpone her tour because she had cancer, and warned fans not to believe any news about her health unless it came from her own lips.
Mr. Moderate signed a bill stripping Planned Parenthood of its funds.
This will head right to the U.S. courts. The imbecile who claims to bring Americans together went back to his old ways. Ohio governor John Kasich decides to sign into state law a bill that will strip funding from Planned Parenthood and abortion providers.
The Ohio governor is struggling for victory in this bitterly fought Republican presidential primary race. Many of the establishment heads believe that he's a doomed candidate. They're not wasting time on him. So they're circling the wagons around political novices Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
Kasich wants to make Americans believe he's actually an unitier not a divider. Right now, I believe he's full of shit. Kasich wants to prove to the extremists that he's lockstep in destroying Planned Parenthood. CNN reports that governor signed the bill while he was in Ohio. He prepares to do some campaigning in Michigan.
Planned Parenthood isn't explicitly named in the legislation, but the law will prevent more than $1 million in funding from the state health department from going to the nonprofit to fund programs such as HIV testing, health screenings and prevention of violence against women.
Kasich, who's tried to project a more moderate image as a Republican presidential candidate on some issues, had been expected to sign the measure. A spokesman for the governor said earlier this month that he intended to sign the bill when it reached his desk. He did so Sunday, a day after finishing a distant fifth in South Carolina's primary.
The bill was swiftly denounced by Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards.
"This legislation will have devastating consequences for women across Ohio," Richards said in a statement. "John Kasich is proudly eliminating care for expectant mothers and newborns; he is leaving thousands without vital STD and HIV testing, slashing a program to fight domestic violence, and cutting access to essential, basic health care."
Planned Parenthood in Dayton, Ohio. There were protesters who showed up to protest the facility after conservative activists sneaked into a facility in California and Texas to "expose" evil doings. It turns out to be their "exposing" to be thier undoing.
On the campaign trail Kasich frequently talks about the importance of funding for expecting mothers and newborn babies. A spokesman for Kasich's gubernatorial office, Joe Andrews, said in a statement the new Ohio law is consistent with those views.
"The Ohio Department of Health has at least 150 other sub-grantees and contractors for the affected grants and projects addressing such issues as new born babies, infant mortality, expectant mothers, violence against women, and minority HIV/AIDS," the statement said. "ODH will reallocate funding from ineligible providers under the new law to other currently eligible providers, ranging from local health departments and community organizations to hospitals and universities. These organizations will be required to submit proposals in order to receive funding."
Many Republicans have said Planned Parenthood should be defunded, after controversial videos featuring group officials purportedly discussing the sale of fetal tissue surfaced last summer.
But about a month ago, a Texas investigation into Planned Parenthood culminated in an indictment -- of the organization's accusers instead of the group.
The Harris County District Attorney's office announced that Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast had been cleared in the two-month-long investigation.
But the grand jury did indict two individuals who were involved in making secret recordings of the group that were released to publicly discredit the group, which provides health services and abortions.
David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were indicted for tampering with a governmental record, a second-degree felony, and Daleiden was also indicted on the count of prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs, a class A misdemeanor, according to the Harris County district attorney.
Republicans sure love to get into the business of people. They will deny women access to health care.
They want to drug test Americans who are living from paycheck to poverty for a slither of the safety net. So if you want food stamps, financial aid, student loans, earned child credits and emergency shelter, pee in a cup and lose a portion of your hair.
They want to monitor a person practicing a religion that's not Christianity. So if you're an atheist, Muslim, Mormon or Scientologist, be prepared to have the feds looking into your place of worship or your non-beliefs.
Mass shooting in Colorado Springs targeted Planned Parenthood.
The Republicans were pretty confident that they could take on the women's health provider. Because of the undercover videos that were released showing Planned Parenthood workers explaining fetal tissue, Republicans have vowed to defund the organization.
Insurgents like Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina have vowed defund Planned Parenthood.
It was getting major play on that right wing network. The AM agitators have brought it up.
It also inspired terrorists to create havoc among the providers and patients. There were over 10 incidents where terrorists have sought havoc on Planned Parenthood. This one happens to attract the junk food media's attention.
A terrorist who opened fire on lawmen and innocent civilians at a Planned Parenthood yesterday. The residents of Colorado Springs, Colorado once again experienced another major shooting in their community. The last shooting was a 31-year old terrorist who opened fire on civilians. He managed to kill four before the law killed him.
The city of Colorado Springs is one of the safest cities in the United States. These latest incidents of mass shootings in the city have the nation once again griping with the debate over firearms and the threat of terrorism (i.e. right wing extremism).
The president and Colorado's Democratic governor John Hickenlooper were notified.
World News Today send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy.
CNN reports that three people were shot dead Friday, including university police Officer Garrett Swasey, whose body was escorted out early Saturday morning by his fellow officers. Five officers and four civilians are hospitalized in good condition, according to city police Lt. Catherine Buckley, after the assault.
This terrorist currently held in lock up on capital murder of a lawman and civilians.
And then there's the challenge of making sense of all this bloodshed: Why, on the day after Thanksgiving, would a man walk up to a clinic with his guns out and then hold out for hours before finally surrendering?
Planned Parenthood, which delivers reproductive health care and sex education to women and men across the United States, has come under attack before. But the group said Friday night that it didn't know anything about this facility being "targeted deliberately."
"The heart of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is broken ... as we try to make sense of the horrific tragedy," the provider's regional division tweeted.
Ketanya Craion was a hostage. She said that see the terrorist shooting at the law.
And authorities have not outlined a motive in Friday's incident that had those in the clinic huddling in horror and others hunkering down in fear in nearby stores and offices.
They have, however, identified the man they say is responsible: 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear.
This terrorist was being held without bail Saturday in a Colorado Springs jail, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office website. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Ketanya Craion was in an exam room when the shooting began Friday morning. Three people were killed and nine others were injured before police arrested 57-year-old Robert Dear after an hours-long standoff.
“When I saw him shooting the guns, it looked like he was talking to himself as he was shooting,” said Craion.
Craion said she ran out of the exam room and into another, where she found a nurse and a patient unaware of the shooting.
“She was about to release the other girl to go back to the lobby because she was done with the services that they were doing,” she said. “When I came in, they weren’t aware of anything until they heard the gunshots and me identify that there was a gunman on site.
Craion said she and the others pushed an exam bed up against the door since it didn’t have a lock. The three of them sat in front of the door for about five hours.
Police haven’t released a motive for the shooting or said whether the Planned Parenthood clinic was the intended target. Dear exchanged gunfire with police throughout the day, authorities said.
“It looked like maybe there was someone outside that he was trying to aim at before he actually entered in the Planned Parenthood,” said Craion.
Okay, I want to know who's actually going to take the blame? Obviously the junk food media will attack someone. Obviously I am going to automatically blame the shooter. But who would you blame for this tragedy.
Now that the Planned Parenthood Shooter is captured, who really deserves the blame?
Let me be clear, that gun violence is the number one threat in the United States. I believe that our country is so tone deaf to mass shootings. It's like President Barack Obama said, we're numb to these events.
We reacted quickly to the terrorist attacks in Paris, France. The moment it was revealed the terrorist were supporters of the Islamic State, American lawmakers automatically tried to pass legislation to restrain Syrian and Iraqi refugees from entering the country. They did more in Congress to stop refugees from entering the country than trying to stop mass shootings.
A number of courts and communities in the United States come together to finalize thousands of children from foster care. More than 300 events are held each year on the Saturday before the Thanksgiving weekend.
In the U.S. and Puerto Rico, many American children in foster care will be adopted.
About 40,000 children could be adopted a year from foster care.
It was started by The Alliance for Children's Rice, Children's Action Network, the Freddie Mac Foundation and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.
The Wendy's founder Dave Thomas grew up in a foster home and before he started one of the country's largest fast food restaurants, he devoted his life to community service.
He would create the foundation to help young children find homes.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the definition of marriage is bound by two loving couples. Now straight and gay couples across the United States will have an opportunity to adopt children.
My community has the Montgomery County Job and Family Services. The adoption home sits on 1921 North Main Street. It's been there for years. The adoption agency is devoted to help children find homes.
World News Today offers our support to National Adoption Day.
Another entertainer is testing the waters. Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. Sean Duffy (R-WI) are successful entertainers who became Washington lawmakers. Who knows? Could it happen again?
Actress Melissa Gilbert has announced that she will run for U.S. Congress as a Democrat against insurgent Rep. Mike Bishop (R-MI).
Gilbert is formerly a child actress who appeared on the hit drama Little House on The Pierre.
Gilbert wants to help the middle class and become a champion for women's rights.
"I’m running for Congress to make life a little easier for all the families who feel they have fallen through the cracks in today’s economy," she wrote on her campaign website. "I believe building a new economy is a team effort, and we need to bring fresh voices to the table to get the job done."
Gilbert, 51, who is "particularly attuned to issues confronting women, children and families," according to a press release from the Democratic Party, will be running against against the incumbent, Republican Mike Bishop. The actress lives in Livingston County with her husband of two years, actor and Michigan native Timothy Busfield.
Like with Donald Trump, many entertainers are frustrated with the lawmakers in Washington.
The grassroots motivation by the Tea Party (referred as the insurgency) and Black Lives Matter (referred as the New Black Power Movement) have clashed often times. Many established lawmakers can't control this.
It's likely due to President Barack Obama's grassroots motivation. Obama was once a community organizer who made campaigning interesting. He managed to supercharge his bid by connecting through social media. Republicans sought the same formula that helped them win Congress in 2014.
The Republicans have done grassroots organization in 2014 to send nine senate Democrats home.
Rep. Mike Bishop (R-MI) welcomes a challenge.
Since 2015, Republicans have struggled to find the message. The conservatives pressure for stronger pushback. The moderates and independents pressure for compromise and slow walkback.
The Democrats have no strong message either. They are still reeling from their defeat. Their defeat has made it clear. No matter what they tell the public, it's not enough.
President Barack Obama's job approval is stalled at 48%. It's not helpful to the Democrats who fear losing three more competitive Senate seats.
Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and retiring Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid's (D-NV) seat are going to be the most vulnerable.
Democrats are struggling. Would Gilbert's run prove to be another disaster in the making?
Bishop is a freshman lawmaker who replaced Mike Rogers. Rogers is now a conservative agitator on AM radio. Bishop was the former State Majority Leader from 2002 to 2010.
The 8th Congressional District is R+2 which is considered a politically lean Republican district. It's going to possibly be a competitive district if the Democrats mount a strong offense.
Bishop will mount a strong defense. Obviously he is going to label her a "Hollywood Elitist Liberal" and the like. He'll have a friend with him willing to do his dirty work.
Michigan lawmakers knew that they were really close. They didn't think it involved a sexual tryst. The state investigators and the feds are looking into a political corruption scandal involving two state lawmakers who admit trying to run smear campaign.
I don't give two fucks about a person's personal business. I mean I am really stupid for even botehring doing this. You can't deny human nature. In the so-called political correctness crowd, there's no exception to the rules. When you sponsor policies or bills that oppress one group, you leave yourself out there for criticism. If you get caught up in situation, you get trolled by the opposition. I mean it's hard to determine who managed to put the business out there.
Two lawmakers are facing pressure from the Michigan state Republicans to exit stage left. The two were recently caught up in an affair. One tried to make it look like a plot by political operatives.
Unfortunately, one of the staffers didn't want to put himself in a situation where he would have to face federal time out. So he now leaks the conversation to the junk food media and trouble ensues.
These so called insurgents were big time players in their opposition of equal marriage.
Michigan State Rep. Todd Courser (R) was caught on tape attempting to get an aide to assist him in creating an anonymous email smearing himself with a rumor of a hook-up with a gay prostitute behind a nightclub prior to word getting out that he was having an affair with fellow lawmaker Rep. Cindy Gamrat (R).
Courser is a married father of four. Gamrat is a married mother of three. They admit that an affair occurred but they both deny they've done anything wrong and won't resign.
But you know pressure comes when your Republican brethren, the local junk food media and national agitators get into the business of shaming hypocrites.
The long and rambling recording blames his former staffers, Ben Graham, Josh Cline and Keith Allard, for colluding with the Lansing "mafia" establishment to bring him down. And it didn't work, he said, because he's decided to stay in office to expose the "political shenanigans" that are happening in Lansing.
"The e-mail was put in motion to disrupt the blackmailer and give me some clues as to the surveillance of my life. It was all done in a pressure cooker and … it put me in a situation where a bad choice was the choice that I made," he said, noting the alleged blackmailer's intent was to get him to resign.
The sex scandal rumors that have been swirling around Lansing for months involve Courser's attempts to cover up an extra-marital affair with Gamrat. He said he sent the anonymous e-mail on May 20 to people around Lansing that claimed he was a sexual deviant as a means to expose the blackmailer.
Real shit! A woman gets cuffed by the law in her own home. The law cuffs her in her natural.
The rules of the law. The law can't enter your home without a search warrant. You don't have to answer a door to the law without a warrant.
A "no knock" is the 6 AM scare you shitless warrant. This is an extremely controversial tactic. The judge can issue this type of warrant if the judge considers a suspect is a danger. This prevents the suspect from destroying evidence such as flushing drugs or hiding incriminating acts. This also works when the suspect is considered an escape risk.
At times, the law may announce their presence or they can bust through your home without notice.
The risk is great for those in the "no knock". The danger works both ways. The law could expect a detention device or a hail of lead through the door. The suspect could be home or he could be somewhere else. The no-knock doesn't determine who's there. It just determines that someone is expected to get a trip to lockup.
The innocent could be at home and "no knock" could happen. What if the innocent is a firearm owner. They have a right to shot a threat. That could even be the law if they don't announce themselves as the law.
What if the suspect or innocent has a medical issue? What if the member of the family has nothing to do with the suspect?
The risk is too great. Too many innocent people die because of a reckless call by the law.
The "no knock" is often criticized by the suspect, the ACLU, the CATO institute and libertarians.
Federal judges are often issuing these type of warrants. This allows the U.S. Marshals to arrest a suspect. The local law often have to get approval from a federal attorney or judge.
The state judges don't often allow "no knocks". But I wouldn't be surprised if they're used.
If the innocent fire their piece off at the law, they WILL return fire. The law doesn't care who pulled the trigger. If a threat is detected, they'll respond.
This is also controversial in the case of swatting calls or wrong address identification. That means if the criminal leaves the property and someone else moves in, what is the right call?
The law goes by the last place of residence if the suspect is on the run.
Probable cause for the law to enter your home is the sense of detection. They can enter a home if the law detects a home alarm, a criminal act in progress, a smell of methamphetamine or marijuana, use of fireworks, or you're a convicted felon.
A woman in Arizona is taking the Chandler Police and the state to court. An officer was in her house on a domestic call and he decided that he had to put a woman in her towel in the cuffs.
Esmeralda Rossi was coming out the shower when the daughter answered the door.
This asshole Doug Rose and his partner told Esmeralda that he got a call about some issues going on at the residence. So they tried to interrogate her while she's in her towel.
Of course, Esmeralda was pissed, wondering what the fuck these cops are up in her home!
She told them that she doesn't have to speak to them about anything. She got out the shower and she felt that this is an invasion of privacy.
Ex-cop Doug Rose got a lawyer.
Her daughter whipped out the camera phone and that's when Rose got pissed at the daughter and warned her that she's going to lockup if she didn't stop recording.
Of course Esmeralda told her daughter to not listen to the cop. That's when the cop got out the cuffs.
As Esmeralda heads to grab her camera phone, Rose decided to act out. He tells her to stop or he'll cuff her.
Of course, she said "I live here, you can't arrest me in my own home!" She grabs her phone and starts recording. I guess Rose decided that he had enough. So he decides to grab her and put the cuffs on her. And as he cuffs her, Esmeralda's breast were exposed and the towel comes down. She's naked and the arms turned back.
Rose puts her face into the carpet and Esmeralda's crying. The daughter's still recording her sobbing mom begging the officer to not arrest her. Esmeralda's phone gets broken after he lands her on the carpet.
Later in the video, you can here Rose give her the "I don't give a fuck who you are! I'm a fucking cop" lecture.
"Don’t take the attitude with cops, because we don’t play," Rose said. "When a cop shows up, you’re not the one in charge. I don’t care if this is your house."
Esmeralda wasn't arrested for any criminal act.
Under the whim of her attorney, they release the video to the junk food media and it went viral.
This shit was fucked up! I think the cop was totally out of line. I felt that he violated me!
Now the city of Chandler and state of Arizona have a lawsuit on them.
The police chief for Chandler was pissed. He calling for an investigation into the matter.
Rose on the other hand decided to take an early retirement. He knew that he could face an investigation into his actions towards residents. Investigators determined that he was out of line.
I am guessing ex-cop Doug Rose may be one of them asshole cops who share them racist emails about President Barack Obama, immigrants and Black people.
Rossi is a victim of molestation when she was young. So this brought back memories she tried to repress.
"I felt helpless. I felt violated. And honestly, I felt molested," Rossi told the junk food media.
Your thoughts on the matter!
World News Today wishes Esmeralda Rossi well! This is unbecoming of an officer! He knew he was fucked when he was caught on camera saying "I don't care.......who the fuck you are!"
I am sharing my experience of traveling in Canada.
I went to the town of Dresden, Ontario. It's about 76 miles from Detroit. I was traveling the Highway 401 towards London. I saw the sign that said Uncle Tom's Cabin Historic Site.
I couldn't help but go and visit this.
It's a part of Civil Rights History.
The Henson estate. Josiah Henson, a former slave, author, abolitionist, and minister, who, through his 1849 autobiography The Life of Josiah Henson, Formerly a Slave, Now an Inhabitant of Canada, as Narrated by Himself, was the inspiration for Harriet Beecher Stowe's title character in her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin.[
The 5-acre (20,000 m2) complex is part of the original 200 acres (0.81 km2) of land purchased in 1841 to establish the Dawn Settlement, a community for escaped slaves.
The original Henson cabin was located on a different location nearby and opened as a museum in the 1940s by an area farmer, William Chapple.
The house was moved to the existing location in 1964 by J.D. Thomson, and subsequently was owned and operated by Kent County, Ontario and then the St. Clair Parkway Commission. Uncle Tom's Cabin Historic Site has been owned by the Ontario Heritage Trust since 2005.
Henson Family Cemetery is located on the site. The original cabin was moved slightly for the museum and interactive centre.
I show some pictures and also posted my first YouTube video in five years.
Have you read the epic novel Uncle Tom's Cabin by American writer Harriett Beecher Stowe?
Have you visited the National Underground Railroad Museum in Cincinnati?
Conservative outrage over Pope Francis addressing climate change.
Cue the conservative outrage. If the president decided to attack the pope on his stances towards women, the LGBT community, and the ongoing investigations into religious priest molesting children, the racist right would go bonkers.
They would call the president anti-whatever.
According to the racist right, President Barack Obama is anti-gun, anti-Israel, anti-White, anti-Black, anti-Catholic, anti-American, and anti-whatever.
Obama is not allowed to criticize a mass shooting, the racial divide, the need for reform, and leaders the conservatives support. But it's cool for them.
The Pope is a "Marxist" says conservative comedian Greg Gutfield. For what reason?
The Pope had called for worshipers to respect the planet. In their minds of the lunatics running, Francis believes in climate change.
Now that the lunatics running for that red nose are pissed off at Pope Francis, are the conservative agitators willing to attack Republicans for attacking the Pope?
The biggest douche to run for an election fires the first shots at his faith.
So what?
Can he have respect for this planet.
Man does contribute to the planet. From the animals we wipe outs to the active weather events, its here and apparently it's getting worse.
The attacks on the Pope began with Go-Go Gadget Santorum. Perennial candidate Rick Santorum decided to take it upon himself to tell the Pope to shut up about climate change.
Then it went on to Big Chris Christie. The New Jersey governor attacked the Pope.
Perennial candidate Mike "Uncle Sugar" Huckabee and Jeb Bush decided to now pile on this attack of the Pope.
Two notorious concern trolls happen to get into the fray. That old fart Rush Limbaugh went on a rant about the Pope and even San Fran's biggest weenier Michael Savage decided to call out the religious leader.
It's pathetic to say that climate change is a joke. But what do you expect from a bunch of jokes running for higher office!
The U.S. Treasury announced a new design for the $10 bill. The bill will feature a woman.
Who will get blamed now that the conservatives found out this bit of historical news?
A. Barack Obama
B. Hillary Clinton
C. Michelle Obama
D. Women's Rights Groups
E. Liberals
F. All of These Above
Guess who's on the $10 American bill?
Okay, I give you a hint..... He was the first U.S. Treasury Secretary and a statesman. He was assassinated in a duel. He was a founding member of this great country.
Give up.
Okay, his name is Alexander Hamilton. He's not a president. He and founding father Benjamin Franklin are on American currency. Hamilton and Franklin are not presidents. But they are honored respectively for their achievements.
Benjamin Franklin is on the $100 American bill. That is the highest domination to exist. There are rare higher domination bills. But the United States mandates that no amount shall exceed $100.
Alexander Hamilton is on the $10 American bill.
When the year 2020 comes, the U.S. Treasury will be kicking him to the curb.
It was announced by current U.S. Secretary Jack Lew that a woman would be featured on a redesigned ten-dollar bill by 2020. The Department of Treasury is seeking the public's input on whom should appear on the new bill.
So who's gonna get the prize?
My top choices for nomination.
1. Michelle Obama (living)
2. Nancy Reagan (living)
3. Hillary Clinton (living)
4. Harriet Tubman
5. Susan B. Anthony
6. Jacqueline Kennedy
7. Betsy Ross
8. Martha Washington
9. Mary Todd Lincoln
10. Shirley Chisolm
11. Claudia Alta Taylor "Lady Bird" Johnson
12. Coretta Scott King
13. Rosa Parks
14. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
15. Sacagawea
Senator Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader is from Kentucky. He is very unpopular in the state. But it's likely they'll settle with him over the opponent. The state is fairly conservative. The state could elect Democrats to the state house, but when it comes to national elections, the state is likely a Republican pick-up. The Democratic Party was hoping to find a candidate that's viable to defeat the embattled Republican senator.
Ashley Judd.
The actress and activist Ashley Judd was thinking about moving to The Bluegrass State. There was talk in the junk food media she could run against him. They were seriously rooting for a historical race.
Alas, that didn't happen. Judd decided to not seek the Democratic nomination.
McConnell is well funded and established as a senator.
Well today, the Republican leader is asking for assistance from the FBI to find out how his choice words about Ashley Judd leaked to the press.
Mother Jones, the liberal investigative/news agitation magazine once again drops a gem out there for the public to hear.
While at his campaign office in Louisville, the senator and his staff were devising a plan on how to take out Ashley Judd if she would announce her run for the senate.
In February, a recording of the private meeting between the senator and his staffers turned out some really condescending themes about the actress.
I assume most of you have played the, the game Whac-A-Mole?” (Laughter.) This is the Whac-A-Mole period of the campaign…when anybody sticks their head up, do them out.
The talk about Judd being a "mental case!"
She's clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced. I mean it's been documented. Jesse can go in chapter and verse from her autobiography about, you know, she's suffered some suicidal tendencies. She was hospitalized for 42 days when she had a mental breakdown in the '90s.
The talk about Judd being a "Hollywood elitist!" Calling it anesthesia.
I call it the American anesthesia. You know, I come back to this country. I freak out in airports. The colors, the sounds, all those different ways of packaging the same snack but trying to, you know, make it look like it's distinct and different and convince consumers that they have to have it. I mean all of that. The last time I came home from a trip, I absolutely flipped out when I saw pink fuzzy socks on a rack. I mean, I can never anticipate what is going to push me over the edge.
These are the oodles of goodies that the senator had against the actress. You see this guy is very nasty in his politics. That's probably why he's won so many times. He digs into the bottom of the barrel.
McConnell asked the FBI to investigate how the meeting leaked to the press. Mother Jones stated that the tape was recording from an anonymous source.
The campaign released a statement criticizing the media (for catching them saying these awful things about Ashley Judd).
Jesse Benton, McConnell's campaign manager, released a statement responding to this story on Tuesday morning: "We’ve always said the Left will stop at nothing to attack Sen. McConnell, but Nixonian tactics to bug campaign headquarters is above and beyond. Senator McConnell’s campaign is working with the FBI and has notified the local U.S. Attorney in Louisville, per FBI request, about these recordings. Obviously a recording device of some kind was placed in Sen. McConnell’s campaign office without consent. By whom and how that was accomplished will presumably be the subject of a criminal investigation."
To make this clear, you criticize the opponent in nasty themes and it leaked to the press. And now you're calling the opponent "Nixonian" because they've caught you in the act!
Mother Jones responded back.
We are still waiting for Sen. Mitch McConnell to comment on the substance of the article. Before posting, we contacted his Senate office and his campaign office—in particular, his campaign manager, Jesse Benton—and no one responded. As the story makes clear, we were recently provided with the tape by a source who wishes to remain anonymous. We published the article on the tape due to its obvious newsworthiness. We were not involved in the making of the tape, but it is our understanding that the tape was not the product of any kind of bugging operation. We cannot comment beyond that, except to say that under the circumstances, our publication of the article is both legal and protected by the First Amendment.
Campaign manager Jesse Benton is married to Kentucky Senator Rand Paul's niece. Which means that Benton is kinfolk to Senator Rand Paul and former Texas Congressman Ron Paul by marriage.
The future is now and Americans are looking forward.
President Barack Obama lays out the second term agenda. This agenda will face a stubborn Congress with many of the newest members affiliated with the extremist Tea Party. The Republicans are rebounding from a disastrous year.
The debt ceiling debate an often contentious issue has the United States hanging on a thread. The borrowing agencies are going to downgrade our nation's credit rating if Congress fails to pass bipartisan budgets.
The Republicans concede that it's possible for the three month extension of the debt ceiling. But they're also getting restless on the U.S. Senate inactive notion to pass a budget. They want domestic austerity cuts to social safety nets. They've harped on the Democratic controlled Senate not passing a budget in years. The Democrats are eager to have Republicans now put revenue (tax increases) on the table. That still has been a sticking point to them. The president has a backlog of nominees for his cabinet and federal courts held in limbo the first term. Republicans have filibustered most of the controversial nominees for the president.
The Republicans will continue to stall nominations in the U.S. Senate with cabinet replacements, federal judges and the potential nomination for a Supreme Court justice if one should retire or die.
The president will waste no time on the immigration reform debate. Seeing that the president carried an overwhelmingly amount of Hispanic/Latino votes, he vowed to make it possible for an immigrant to get a piece of the American Dream.
The president also recognized the needs of the African American voters. The president made note of the chaos in Florida and Ohio where long lines plagued early voters and on day voters. The Republican led legislatures in these states have brought forth rollbacks to early voting and ending same day registrations.
Republican state houses pushed restrictions on early voting, voter identification and removal of same day registration. They believe this was an advantage to helping President Barack Obama. They claim these created "voter fraud" and "voter intimidation". The president vows to keep Americans voting in the Midterm and 2016 presidential elections.
The president also recognized the LGBT community. From the mentions of Stonewall to the acceptance of our friends and family who are gay, the president vows to fight for equal rights for all Americans.
The president has invoked acceptance to gay marriage. Last year, the president went to ABC News with Robin Roberts and stated that he's realized that it's essential to accept a same sex family.
The president also recognized women's rights. Since the passing of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay law, many American women are hoping the glass ceiling will be broken once and for all. The president vowed that reproductive rights via Roe v. Wade will sustain. The president vowed that he wants to bring family back into the fold. Understanding that American families are unmarried, the president urges Congress to keep safety nets in for families who suffered under the housing and banking crisis.
The president vowed to end the war in Afghanistan by the start of 2014. The president also vowed to capture those involved in the Algeria hostage situation at the BP oil wells. The threat of al-Qaeda isn't over until the president neutralizes top leadership and demands nations to cancel their sponsorship of this organization.
To many progressives, it's was a masterpiece. To conservatives, it's another speech filled with blame Bush, divisiveness, partisan rancor and the like.
The Republicans vow to fight the president at every step. The president vows to fight back even though he still has optimism that bipartisanship can occur.
The beginning of the second term starts. But we know ever since he won the election, his second term began on November 7, 2012 with Republicans are hating along the way!
The way the Republicans acted during the U.S. Election, is a reason for his second term victory.
Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky, Minority Leader), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Congressman Eric Cantor (R-Virginia, Majority Leader). The 113th Congress will begin in January 2013. The Republicans are under fire for having mostly men in their leadership committees.
The Republicans control the House of Representatives. As they begin to shuffle the chairs around, many critics are pointing out that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is appointing mostly men to most of the chairmanship committees in the 113th Congress.
Not a single woman will lead any of the major House committees in the 113th Congress.
Republicans still simmering from their trouncing in the presidential election, they are doubling down on their racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, condescending, pain inducing rants about President Barack Obama and his allies in the Democratic Party.
With Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) running a NIGGERIZATION of UN Ambassador Susan Rice, the Republicans still trying to screw the president.
The Politico reports that the House Republican Steering Committee announced an all-male slate of committee chairs, including 12 returning lawmakers who will head up some of the most important panels in Washington. The chairs for the House Ethics Committee and House Administration Committee have yet to be chosen, so a woman could end up in one of those slots.
The Democratic minority does have leadership post for their members. Besides Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi (D-California) being the Minority Leader, House Democrats are likely to have five women as ranking members committees: Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D- New York) or Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) on Appropriations, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-California) on Financial Services, Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-New York) on Rules, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) on Science and Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez (D-New York) on Small Business.
WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court on Monday blocked a massive sex discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart on behalf of female employees in a decision that makes it harder to mount large-scale bias claims against the nation's biggest companies.
The justices all agreed that the lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. cannot proceed as a class action in its current form, reversing a decision by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. But they split 5-4 along ideological lines over whether the plaintiffs should in essence get another chance to make their case.
The lawsuit could have involved up to 1.6 million women, with Wal-Mart facing potentially billions of dollars in damages.
Now, the handful of women who brought the case may pursue their claims on their own, with much less money at stake and less pressure on Wal-Mart to settle. Two of the named plaintiffs, Christine Kwapnoski and Betty Dukes, attended the argument. Kwapnoski is an assistant manager at a Sam's Club in Concord, Calif. Dukes is a greeter at the Wal-Mart in Pittsburg, Calif.
The ruling could make it much harder to mount similar class-action discrimination lawsuits against large employers.
The majority agreed with Wal-Mart's argument that being forced to defend the treatment of female employees regardless of the jobs they hold or where they work is unfair.
Justice Antonin Scalia's opinion for the court's conservative majority said there needs to be common elements tying together "literally millions of employment decisions at once."
But Scalia said that in the lawsuit against the nation's largest private employer, "That is entirely absent here."
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, writing for the court's four liberal justices, said there was more than enough uniting the claims. "Wal-Mart's delegation of discretion over pay and promotions is a policy uniform throughout all stores," Ginsburg said.

Business interests lined up with Wal-Mart while civil rights, women's and consumer groups have sided with the women plaintiffs.
Both sides have painted the case as extremely consequential. The business community has said that a ruling for the women would lead to a flood of class-action lawsuits based on vague evidence. Supporters of the women feared that a decision in favor of Wal-Mart could remove a valuable weapon for fighting all sorts of discrimination.
"The court has told employers that they can rest easy, knowing that the bigger and more powerful they are, the less likely their employees will be able to join together to secure their rights." said Marcia D. Greenberger, co-president of the National Women's Law Center. "The women of Wal-Mart, together with women everywhere, will now face a far steeper road to challenge and correct pay and other forms of discrimination in the workplace."
The lawsuit, citing what are now dated figures from 2001, said that women are grossly underrepresented among managers, holding just 14 percent of store manager positions compared with more than 80 percent of lower-ranking supervisory jobs that are paid by the hour. Wal-Mart responded that women in its retail stores made up two-thirds of all employees and two-thirds of all managers in 2001.
The company also has said its policies prohibit discrimination and that it has taken steps since the suit was filed to address problems, including posting job openings electronically.
