It's a damn smear campaign says The Joe Biden Presidential Campaign.
The former vice president slams the New York Post and Fox News for promoting a story about his son Hunter Biden. The campaign said its Russian disinformation spread by Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani. The far-right have been promoting this controversy as it appears to be an "October Surprise."
The story is wild as fuck. Giuliani claims that Hunter dropped off a water-damaged laptop to a Delaware computer shop. On the laptop were emails linking him to an employee named Vadym Pozharskiy at Burisma, an Ukrainian energy firm. So the guy who was working on it, makes copies of it and sends it to Giuliani's lawyer and turns it over to the FBI. So now in the middle of October, Giuliani and Steve Bannon got in touch with the New York Post and Fox News and decided to share these emails and salacious photos of Hunter Biden as a last ditch effort to undermined Joe Biden and help Donald J. Trump.
Like all in the junk food media, we're distracted with stories about Biden's son and not Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic itself has infected almost 10 million Americans and costed over 250,000 lives so far. We have an economy that is struggling with hundreds of small business and name brand companies going out business. We have over 30 million Americans out of work due to the coronavirus. We have Americans continuing to dispute the science when it comes to wearing facial protection and social distancing. We have civil unrest in American cities thanks to police violence against people of color. We are also facing voter suppression which forces American voters to stand in line for hours to cast ballots. We also are witnessing the Republican Party fail to help struggling families. Instead of passing an extension to the CARES Act and passing the HEROES Act, the Republicans are rushing through Amy Coney Barrett, an ineffective federal judge who could sway the Supreme Court for a generation. We are seeing the Republicans resort to mispronouncing Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) name in attempt to cast her as either a foreigner or an angry Black woman. We are seeing the Republicans, the far-right and leftists agitators complain about Facebook, Twitter and Google limited the searches of this story because they seriously doubt the credibility of the New York Post and Giuliani.
And to be honest with you, is this stuff going to work?
It was reported that the Russian government indeed hacked into the emails of Burisma. It was reported that National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien warned Trump that Giuliani was in contact with an Ukrainian official who had ties to the Kremlin. That official, Andrii Derkach is sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Treasury as being an operative beholden to the interests of the Russian Federation. Giuliani claims that he had spoken to this individual, "what's the big deal?" The National Security Advisor said that Trump brushed off the concerns because he trusted Giuliani over the U.S. intelligence agencies that warned the Russians are still working hard to get Trump reelected.
Hunter Biden's issues are not of concern to me. But for the far-right and those devoted to undermining Biden, this is a goldmine.
The Biden Campaign also warned that the polls don't mean shit. They are saying its best to play this cautiously and not jump to conclusions. They admit that the polls are deceiving and they say the polls are closer then we think.
