Kmart Is A Critically Endangered Species!

Kmart at present time has 103 stores. In 2020, there will be only 60 stores left.
When 2020 begins, Kmart, once the most dominant retailer in the United States and Canada will now be reduced to only 60 active stores. So we might as well call it a wrap.

Sears will only have 150 stores actively left in the United States.

Sears/Kmart is now under the authority of Transform Holdco (formerly Sears Holding Group). The company's embattled CEO Eddie Lampert continues to drag the company along.

We're seeing a "DEAD STORE WALKING."

According to the Motley Fool, the massive wave of store closures are a clear signal that bankruptcy didn't solve the underlying problems at Sears and Kmart. Transform Holdco is slashing its Illinois headquarters to the bone, keeping on just enough staff to carry out the essential tasks needed to stay in business.

Transformco, which acquired the retailers out of bankruptcy, is set to shutter 51 Sears stores and 45 Kmart locations in the latest round of closures.

Sears and Kmart have closed more than 3,500 stores and cut about 250,000 jobs over the last 15 years.

The company said Thursday that it lined up $250 million in fresh financing as a lifeline while it pursues a sustainable business.
