The St. Louis couple who gained infamy for pointing assault rifles at Black Lives Matter protesters is suing the photographer who took the iconic image of them.Mark and Patricia McCloskey are suing the photographer who is an independent contractor for UPI.
The pictures were outside their mansion in a St. Louis gated community. The two abruptly exited their homes and aimed at unarmed protesters.
They earned the ire of the nation and the warm welcome of the Republican Party and its outgoing standard-bearer Donald J. Trump.
The McCloskeys, two trial attorneys for personal injuries are suing because the images of them pointing firearms at protesters damaged their business, their reputation with the community and caused harm to their personal lives.
They blame Bill Greenblatt for the picture. He is counter suing them for copyright infringement.
The two used the incident to generate publicity within the Republican White Nationalist Party.
The St. Louis city prosecutor Kimberly Gardner has charged the two with felonies for unlawful use of a weapon and evidence tampering. The two could face a year in the iron college if convicted.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) condemned the prosecutor and called upon the U.S. Justice Department to investigate Gardner.
The two have made appearances on far-right outlets like Tucker Carlson and Sean “Softball” Hannity’s bullshit carnival.
The McCloskeys claimed that protesters were trespassing on a private street. The protesters were heading to the home of the city’s mayor, Lyda Krewson.
The suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
With 2020 close to ending, we have realized that “Karen and Kevin” are the new names for White people who go bonkers at the sight of Black people. These are the people who call 9-1-1 on Black people minding their business. These are the people who shoot unarmed Black people like Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. These are the people who protest outside Trump’s defeat and demanding ballot workers to stop counting if it favors Joe BIden and/or continue counting if it favors Trump.
