There was an incident in New York City back in October. It involved a well-known comedian and director. 

An unrepentant jackass served Rick Moranis a knuckle style chili when the entertainer was out for a walk. The entertainer lives in New York City and was minding his business when this 35-year old jackass caught him from behind.

The jackass was spotted by transit officers in the subway system near 72th Street and Broadway, a few blocks from where the Oct. 1 incident happened.

NYPD leads led to this suspect's arrest of an assault on actor Rick Moranis.

Sgt. Anwar Ishmael said that the suspect was taken into custody.

The incident happened outside the actor’s home in the Upper West Side. Moranis was served a knuckle style chili by the jackass without warning. In a camera spot, you see a man wearing a “I Love NY” sweatshirt serving Moranis.

Frederick Allan Moranis, 67 was born in Toronto, Ontario. He is a Canadian actor, comedian, musician, songwriter, screenwriter and producer. 

The spokesman for Moranis said that he is doing fine.

“Rick is fine but grateful for everyone’s thoughts and well wishes,” Troy Bailey said after the attack became public.

Police said that the jackass was arrested on suspicion of assault in the second degree, which includes the allegation that he had “intent to cause serious physical injury to another person.”

Unprovoked attack.

Further details about the suspect, including whether he had legal representation was not known.

The suspect could face up to 10 years if convicted in New York. The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Rick Moranis is best known for his roles in SCTV, Brother Bear, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Spaceballs, Ghostbusters and Little Shop of Horrors.
