The South rocked by possible arson at predominately Black churches.
First things first, we start of the month of July with the report of the Klan making a trip to Columbia, South Carolina to protest the proposal to remove the Confederate flag from the state capitol grounds.
Then there was a disturbance in which a man instigated a riot near the capitol grounds. The man was a supporter of the Confederate flag and he deliberately drove through to taunt the Black protesters.
That situation managed to attract the conservative Craigslist attention. After all, what could spook White folks more than a man being pummeled by a bunch of Black people.
Conservatives would find #BLACKLIVESMATTER hashtag merged with #RACIALMOBVIOLENCE
Then we have unexplained Black church burns in the South.
Macon, Memphis, Tallahassee, Warrenville, S.C. , Knoxville, and Charlotte were the scene where possible burns may have been the works of White extremists.
The FBI and state authorities are trying to connect the dots. Could this have been a hate crime?
Since that White terrorist killed nine innocent victims at Emmanuel AME Church, the calls for gun control and the removal of the Confederate flag have gotten louder.
I want to say thank you to all of the readers of World News Today. I want to say a special thanks to S. Baldwin for allowing me to post on the blog. I appreciate all your support.
Right now, I am in the Detroit area. I am about to head to Canada for a little bit of rest and relaxation.
I'll be posting a few stories on World News Today while I'm away from Ohio. I have the laptop with me. Any event that occurs in the U.S. or even Canada, I'll post it.
Associate Justice Anton Scalia - Ronald Reagan (Conservative)
Associate Justice Anthony Kennedy - Ronald Reagan (Conservative/Libertarian)
Associate Justice Clarence Thomas - George H.W.Bush (Conservative)
Associate Justice Steven Breyer - Bill Clinton (Liberal)
Associate Justice Ruth Bider Ginsburg - Bill Clinton (Liberal)
Associate Justice Samuel Alto - George W. Bush (Conservative) Chief Justice John Roberts - George W. Bush (Conservative)
Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor - Barack Obama (Liberal)
Associate Justice Elena Kagan - Barack Obama (Liberal)
Try to keep up with the score. Conservatives are seriously upset with Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Anthony Kennedy. They sided with the liberal wing of the court in regards to Obamacare.
Kennedy strung conservatives even harder by siding with the liberal wing of the court in allowing equal marriage in the United States. So it doesn't matter whether you're straight or gay, you have a right to marry. Marriage is legal in the United States. Conservatives are calling for impeachment and are urging state clerks to deny marriage licenses based on religious beliefs.
King v. Burwell ruling saves the Obamacare (Affordable Care Act). If it ruled in the conservatives favor, over 30 million signed up to the healthcare mandates subsides could be eliminated. That means each state is required to set up state exchanges regardless of political views.
Obergefell v. Hodges ruling is a landmark decision. Jim Obergefell lost his husband to ALS. He wanted to be placed as spouse on the death certificate. He and his husband John Arthur were married in Maryland. They resided in Cincinnati. When John died, Ohio refused to acknowledged the legal marriage. Jim took it to court and won. The court ruled that equal rights are extended to marriage.
On the bright side, conservatives win on rulings that involves the mandatory sentencing, the overreach of the EPA and the death penalty.
Michigan v. EPA - The court ruled that President Barack Obama's executive orders were unconstitutional.
Ohio v. Clark - The court ruled that sentencing for gun crimes under statures that carry heavy time in the iron college were constitutional.
Clayton Lockett
Glossip v. Gross - The cocktail given in the gas house isn't cruel and unusual punishment.
Conservatives win handily on these issues when it comes to gun rights, environmental regulations and the pills for death.
The Glossip v. Gross case involved the death penalty cocktail that was being injected into the condemned. An Oklahoma man was given the gas house. Clayton Lockett was given the lethal load and it didn't work. It was administered by the Oklahoma guards.
Lockett got the cocktail but it wasn't working. He told the warden that he's feeling pain. He was cussing that this "shit was burning"!
It took over 45 minutes before he would pass away. Many advocates believe that it was cruel for him to suffer.
The Supreme Court in a 5-4 decision believe that despite this horrible tragedy, the states that advocate the gas house are allowed to use the death cocktail.
On the other hand, the liberal wing won the ruling on Arizona State Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Comm'n. This ruling could impact states that have gerrymandered districts that are based on political swing. That means if a district is relatively swing, the party in power must compromise on where the district lines go. Basically it may be up to voters to establish independent commissions to draw the congressional lines in the 2020 U.S. Census.
Texas Dept. of Housing and Community Affairs v. Inclusive Communities Project, Inc., ruling is significant. Even if there's a trace of discrimination in housing loans, leasing and properties, the individual can file a writ of consent.
Walker v. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans ruling advocates that governments aren't entitled to enshrine opinionated plates. That means that some states that issue Confederate flag plates are no longer allowed to promote private thought over government speech.
Ohio's biggest dingleberry John Kasich is in the clown car.
I live in the state of Ohio. And the news of our governor Republican John Kasich jumping into the clown car is no surprise.
Kasich talked to GOP Sundays host John Dickerson about his chances. Kasich said that it's time. He knows that his poll numbers are extremely low, but he figures they will rise once he jumps in.
He touts Ohio's unemployment rate, the state's budget surplus and wellness as a factor to his decision to run.
In July he will announce his bid at Ohio State University. He will make his intentions known.
After all, he won Ohio in a landslide. He beat the Democratic nominee by 40 points. He won over 30% of the Black vote. And despite his budget cuts, his union busting law SB-5 was repealed.
Republicans hate Kasich's embracing of Obamacare. He is willing to accept Medicaid and Medicare.
Kasich is relatively moderate. He is a former congressman and talk show host.
He once hosted a show on that network that may inspired that terrorist to kill nine innocent lives at a church.
He will make 15 or 16. I am not sure. Will Wisconsin's Scott Walker jump in before Kasich?
Conservatives think Kasich and Weeper John Boehner (R-OH) are too close President Barack Obama.
Kasich can be thanked for bringing LaBron James back to Cleveland.
The Republican Convention is in Cleveland.
Ohio's unemployment is at 4.7% currently.
Kasich kept his mouth closed during the John Crawford and Tamir Rice controversies. These two were gunned down by police. Crawford in Walmart when he picked up a BB gun. Rice when he was in a Cleveland park playing with a BB gun. He ordered mandatory testing for any new recruits in law enforcement. He asked the Black community for better relations.
He has a lapse on gun control. He will allow guns in bars, churches, parks and government buildings.
The 63-year-old governor will announce in a speech at the Ohio Union on the campus of his alma mater; and he will follow it up with an announcement tour through Michigan, South Carolina, Iowa and New Hampshire.
Hamilton County Republican Party chairman Alex Triantafilou said he has been invited to the July 21 campaign kick-off; and said he believes Kasich will be a top-tier candidate in a crowded field of GOP presidential contenders.
“It’s a wide open field; no one candidate dominates,’’ Triantafilou said. “There is a good story that can be told by the governor of a successful state that can help separate him from the pack.”
Kasich’s experience in the 1990s as House Budget chairman and his four-and-half years as governor of a state that will be a key battleground state in the presidential election will help, Triantafilou said.
“Based on resume alone, this guy’s got what it takes to be president,’’ Triantafilou said.
Kasich was back on a Sunday morning talk show yesterday – this time CBS’ Face the Nation, where he was asked once again when he might officially join the crowded Republican presidential field.
“We’re getting awfully close to making a decision,’’ Kasich said.
On Face the Nation, Kasich said he had run for governor to fix what he viewed were Ohio’s problems.
“Now I can go out and tell my story and hopefully the polls will rise,’’ Kasich said. “We’ll see.”
Kasich is a total dingleberry,
And Kasich needs a boost to be among the top ten candidates who will make the first GOP presidential debate set for Aug. 6 at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland – the site of the 2016 Republican nominating convention.
That network he once worked for is a co-sponsor of the debate with Facebook, has said it will take an average of five national polls on Aug. 4. The top 10 finishers will be invited to participate.
Right now, Kasich does not qualify in any of the national independent polls, polling at one to three percent support.
John C. Green, director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron, said the groundwork Kasich has laid and the July 21 campaign kick-off could give him a bump in the polling that would qualify him for the debate.
Green said Kasich will immediately be taken seriously as a presidential contender.
“He has real accomplishments to point to,” Green said. “You can compare his resume to others in the race, and his is very similar to a lot of them.”
Green said he would expect that Kasich will campaign on a theme of turning an $8 billion state budget deficit into a $2 billion surplus without raising taxes.
If there is a downside, Green said, it is the difficulty of running for president while holding a full time job as the governor of a major state.
“It’s a little more difficult for a governor than a senator, because a governor is involved in making policy decisions,’’ Green said.
New Jersey Republican Chris Christie is about to jump into the clown car. He will make a formal announcement on Tuesday.
This makes 14.
The Republican is often colorful in his rhetoric and is probably one of the very few candidates I actually believe could beat perennial candidate Hillary Clinton.
Will he be a serious candidate?
I don't know. If he's won reelection and managed to attract Black votes, it's up in the air. Some people look at him as a moderate.
A center-right candidate is way better than an extremist like Stallmigo Ted Cruz (R-TX).
Republicans aren't keen to Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Christie. They believe they're too cozy with Obama and Clinton.
The Republicans still feel betrayed by Christie after he embraced President Barack Obama's handling of Hurricane Sandy. The Republicans believe that Christie ruined perennial loser Mitt Romney's chances at winning the White House.
Christie's weight is often questioned by agitators as a liability.
They seem to forget that it was the fault of Romney and no one else. They just want to dog pile on Christie because he believes that an effective federal government response to disasters.
Anyway, the junk food media has speculated that Christie was about to get in. So in order to stop the momentum they tossed the scandals that plagued him during his term. The first thing that comes to mind is his weight. They criticized the governor for being a big man in the state house.
The junk food media has been relentless on the many scandals involving him and his family. They reported on Christie taking the private plane to seeing his son play sports and hanging out with the Dallas Cowboys at ATT Stadium. Chief Roger and Rupert Murdoch both asked him back in 2012 to run against perennial loser Mitt Romney. The George Washington Bridge being delayed during rush hour became a big story in the media. The agitators believe that Christie wanted revenge on Democratic mayor from Fort Lee. No federal charges were brought against him, but the scandal will haunt him.
He's been a bully when it comes to Democrats who refuse to support him during his budget battles.
He also against vaccinations. He questioned Obama's stances vaccination. He believes that it's a parent's choice and not the government. So say if we have an outbreak of disease it's up to the child's parent get vaccinated.
Christie has battled the teacher's unions, bust up he state unions, and wants New Jersey to become a right-to-work state.
Christie once embraced the Tea Party. But it seems now that he's abandon a plural of the insurgency's views on immigration, marriage legality and trade policy.
His stances has moderated due to his state's deeply Democratic tilt. He easily beat the Democratic nominee in 2013 after swaying Black voters. He won over 40% of the Black vote in his reelection bid.
The AP reports that Christie's political team has gone live with a presidential campaign website days before he jumps into the 2016 race.
Conservatives will go after Christie for embracing Obama.
The new website — www.chrischristie.com — shows the New Jersey governor's name along with the slogan, "Telling it like it is."
Christie also is promoting the site with a short animated video posted on his Twitter feed. The site says it's paid for Chris Christie for President, Inc.
Christie has a "special announcement event" set for Tuesday in the gym of Livingston High School, from which he graduated in 1980. Donors and friends have gotten invitations, and Christie's team has invited reporters to attend.
After his announcement, Christie plans to go to New Hampshire for a town hall meeting.
These three women lived in Chillicothe. The FBI is determined to find a serial killer in the area.
Chillicothe, Ohio is 35 miles south of Columbus, Ohio. The city is rocked by a series of unsolved murders involving women on the stroll.
World News Today send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy. Charlotte Trago, Wanda Lemons, Tameka Lynch, Shasta Himelrick, Tiffany Sayre and Timberly Claytor are loved.
They may have had issues in their lives, but in no way should they be murdered for that.
The law aided by the FBI in probing the histories of six women who turned up missing. Three of them were found dead near rivers. They have fingered a pimp as a person of interest.
The area is roughly hilly and rural.
Centered around Bridge Street, the Chillicothe Inn is a notorious spot for women to meet up with tricks who want a little action. Some of these women were addicted to heroin. These women ranged from the early 20s to late 30s. They were mothers, grandmothers, daughters and sisters.
"Investigators recovered a great deal of evidence from the vehicle including blood, DNA, and a bullet," Ross County Sheriff George Lavender said.
These women turned up missing. Four of them ended up dead.
They also arrested 36-year-old Jason McCrary, a registered sex offender, for failing to update his address information. But they call him a prime person of interest in Timberly Claytor's killing.
Timberly's body was dumped in a vacant building lot around high weeds. She was shot three times and left for dead. She was 38-years old.
Is her death related to the disappearances of three other women?
"There's a common thread in terms of the places that the victims frequented and some of the people they were associated with,” Ross County Prosecutor Matthew Schmidt said.
Charlotte Trego was last seen in May of 2014. Wanda Lemons disappeared December 2014. Tiffany Sayre disappeared three weeks ago.
And last may Tameka Lynch was found dead in Paint Creek of an apparent overdose.
"I know that those of you in the media have talked to some who have suggested that different people that are missing may know each other,” Schmidt said. “And that's something that we're looking at very seriously."
Jason McCrary is a registered sex offender. The law singling out this pimp as the person of interest.
"Last week we asked for FBI assistance in the three missing women case,” Chillicothe Police Chief Keith Washburn said. “We're in the process now of forming a task force."
Authorities said they want the expertise of the FBI to help them compare notes with other local agencies investigating missing women cases, including Columbus and Scioto County.
Leading some to wonder, is this the work of a serial killer? Investigators aren't ruling it out.
"We've got too many young women missing. So you always want to look at that possibility," Lavender said.
Schmidt said there was a great deal of forensic evidence found in that vehicle.
They are waiting for test results on that, and looking at surveillance video of Claytor's final hours, before they look at any additional charges against Jason McCrary.
He's being held in the Ross County jail on $100,000 bond.
This sexual predator doesn't care about their lives. All he sees is an opportunity to help them get their fix. And for this fix, these women didn't expect his sexual desire would lead to their murder.
The FBI is hoping that they can find the connection between each woman.
This sleeper story finally picked up some national attention. The junk food media is spooking the residents. The city is determined to find the suspect. Whether its McCrary or not, the mystery continues and we hope that the law can figure out how this senseless tragedy occurred.
David Sweat was captured. The remaining escapee from the Clinton Correctional was caught by the law in Constable, New York. The town is less than 10 miles from the U.S.- Canadian border.
Sweat was wounded but according to the junk food media, he will survive his injuries. He is being detained at the local hospital.
For nearly a month, David Sweat and the big player in the iron college Richard Matt managed to elude authorities for weeks. They were hoping that accomplice Joyce Mitchell would have drove them to the border. Turns out that Mitchell had second thoughts.
Mitchell was apprehended after she confessed to aiding the escapees.
Matt ate a lead sandwich after disobeyed law orders. He was apparently armed.
Sweat and Matt both used their survival skills for the most part. They managed to elude the law through the woods and taking breaks near cabins. They broke into a cabin and made a brief stay.
They left their fingerprints, blood and undies all over the place.
That gave them the perfect lead to where they were located.
DMX is sweating. The veteran rapper back in county lockup for some form of stupidity.
Earl Simmons is still a dog on the loose and the pound about to neuter him.
According to Wikipedia, Simmons is a product of his environment.
I miss them days when he was the biggest thing that came off Def Jam Records.
DMX as he's professionally known was a member of the Ruff Ryders. He, Eve, Swizz Beatz, Jadakiss and his group The Lox were the biggest acts during the late 1990s until 2005.
X and his crew were selling hits. But their egos, the law and canceling tours have damaged their reputations. Now people aren't rocking Ruff Ryders.
The mixtape circuit is the only thing that keeps Jadakiss relevant. The others decided to make families and semi-retire from the music. Eve is focused on acting and is married to billionaire mogul Max Cooper. Swizz Beatz divorced his former wife and went on to marry pop singer Alicia Keys.
X on the other hand, is trying to find Black Jesus.
X is still having trouble with the law and is on the verge of being put in the pound for LIFE.
Last time I've talked about X, he was getting in trouble for armed robbery of a fan. Now I hear that he's back in county lockup for missing child support for the seven children (or twelve). I lost count.
Since he's no longer rocking with Def Jam, he's having trouble trying to push out albums.
So I guess with the money making in the dirt, X has blown money fast. He recently filed for bankruptcy after complaining about his child support.
The courts ain't buying that excuse. The law put the muzzle on X after he came to town. He was suppose to perform at Radio City. Alas, his habits of canceling shows continues.
He said those included $400,000 worth of unpaid child support, a warrant issued by the city of White Plains for bail jumping and a robbery complaint out of Newark, New Jersey. No charges have been filed in the Newark case.
A management company that has represented DMX did not immediately return an email seeking comment from The Associated Press.
Legendary Black playwright and poet Paul Laurence Dunbar wrote some of the world's most famous poems and sonnets.
June 27, 1872 was the birth of American poet and playwright Paul Laurence Dunbar.
My community celebrates the life of a great poet. His legacy is a part of Dayton, Ohio. His home is on Summit Street (now named Paul Laurence Dunbar St.) a national monument.
Dayton, Ohio is where he grew up writing his best poems, plays and sonnets.
He grew up around the time Orville and Wilbur Wright wanted to patent inventions.
He traveled overseas. He found love with Alice Ruth Moore a fellow poet. He became one of the world's greatest poets of the late 19th and early 20th century. He found personal demons as well.
He would become involved in alcohol and depression. He would end up losing his life to TB (tuberculosis). He buried at the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton.
His home is part of the Dayton Aviation National Historical Park and is an Ohio designated state monument.
Born to parents who had been slaves in Kentucky before the American Civil War, Dunbar started to write as a child and was president of his high school's literary society. He published his first poems at the age of 16 in a Dayton newspaper.
Much of his more popular work in his lifetime was written in the Negro dialect associated with the antebellum South. His work was praised by William Dean Howells, a leading critic associated with the Harper's Weekly, and Dunbar was one of the first African-American writers to establish a national reputation. He wrote the lyrics for the musical comedy, In Dahomey (1903), the first all-African-American musical produced on Broadway; the musical also toured in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Dunbar also wrote in conventional English in other poetry and novels; since the late 20th century, scholars have become more interested in these other works.
Cue the conservative outrage, a Black woman climbed up a pole and cut down the Confederate flag around the South Carolina capitol grounds.
Bree Newsome, a resident of Charlotte. NC traveled to Columbia to make a point. She wants the world to know that that flag represents the racism that led to the killings of nine in Charleston.
She wanted the world to know that Freddie Gray's life matters. She wanted to let protesters know that she's not afraid of what the media says about her. She did it to make the world know that she's not afraid to stand up for something.
Newsome was charged today for defacing a state monument on Capitol grounds. Authorities said that she climbed the 30 foot tall pole and unhooked the flag, ignoring the orders of officers who arrived when she was halfway up the pole.
This misdemeanor carries a hefty fine of $5,000 with a trip to the iron college for up to three years. If they find her guilty, she may face both. Her and James Ian Tyson, from Charlotte were both cuffed.
There is a crowdfunding website that was set up today to raise money for her and Tyson. So far it's reached nearly $100,000 in funds. A hashtag #BreeNewsome went viral since the incident.
The Confederate battle flag which is protected by South Carolina law was raised again 45 minutes after Bree unhooked the flag.
Bree Newsome gained national recognition after climbing a pole to remove the Confederate flag.
Call for removing the flag came after a White terrorist killed nine people in Charleston's Emmanuel AME Church.
Republican governor Nikki Haley along with Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Tim Scott (R-SC), Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) calls for the flag's removal.
President Barack Obama delivered a passionate speech yesterday telling that the world see how Americans overcome tragedies. He urged Americans to pressure Congress to pass legislation to change the narrative. Obama believes that mass murder tragedies are going to continue way pass his term.
It's up to state lawmakers to pass it.
Counter-protesters were in Columbia today to protest the removal of the Confederate flag. Some are saying that the flag isn't about hate, it's about heritage. They blame the junk food media for allowing this discussion focus on their "pride" of the South, the Confederate battle flag.
Bree Newsome and James Ian Tyson were booked in county lockup.
Legally known as Brittany Newsome, Bree graduated from high school being active in her community. She was involved in student government and served as student body president.
Many believe her actions could inspire millions and that's why activist DeRay McKesson has called for his followers to aid her throughout her journey.
Protest is confrontation. Protest is disruption. Protest is the end of silence. It is not the solution, it creates space for the solution.
The Department of Health and Human Services wants Americans to get tested.
Today is HIV Testing Day. On June 27, many communities are offering residents an opportunity for testing for the dangerous virus that can progress to AIDS.
HIV can be transmitted through sexual intercourse (anal, vagina and oral), sharing needles with an infected partner, and blood transfusions.
HIV can be affected greatly in the African American community. HIV doesn't discriminate against any race, gender, sexuality, religious, economic or political standings.
Vicki West.
The disease can affect you from two weeks to up to 10 years. The person who is affected may not notice symptoms.
HIV risk are greatly increased when the person isn't aware of the disease. The person may practice in unsafe sexual practices. The person may be a heroin user who uses needles that may be infected with another user's blood.
Chances have increased. At least out of 225 people at least ten would be living with the virus.
HIV can not be cured. It can be treated. A person can live a healthy life with HIV if they take measures with their doctor and ensure a path to long life. HIV is not a shameful disease.
If you inform your partner (or partners) you may save their lives too.
Anyone affected with HIV and willingly spreads it to partners without informing them can face a CLASS THREE FELONY and it could land you in the iron college for minimum of 4 years up to 15 to LIFE.
Oral sex is risky for two reasons. Any sexual exchange of bodily fluids with a person infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, poses a risk of infection. Risk of STI infection, however, is generally considered significantly lower for oral sex than for vaginal or anal sex, with HIV transmission considered the lowest risk with regard to oral sex.
The National HIV Testing Day is organized annually by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's AIDS.GOV program. Walgreens is one corporate sponsor, and offers free HIV testing on that day at a number of its drugstore locations, in fact in 140 cities in 2014.
The day has been an event since 1995, when it was organized by the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA).
Vicki West is one of the country's most notorious HIV cases. She is a Dayton, Ohio woman who lives with the disease. She is a prostitute who is actively spreading the disease to individuals. She has been arrested over numerous times in Dayton and Cincinnati.
Dayton and Cincinnati police have warned residents that HIV is active in prostitutes who engage in heroin and numerous partners.
Because of Vicki West, many states including Ohio have passed laws that will put individuals in the iron college if they're caught deliberately spreading HIV.
West is currently in the iron college. Last time I've check the inmate listings, she'll be back on the streets by the end of the year.
West will continue her path to destruction and Americans must take heed to her and those who don't practice safe sex .
So if you're sexuality active, a drug user, a person who is unsure about your partner, or just because you want to, get tested.
Getting tested for HIV doesn't make you any less of a person. It actually makes you a hero!
Talk to a doctor or sexual health counselor if you need to learn about HIV.
