On Thursday, the court trial of the former Minneapolis cop who killed George Floyd was brief. The defense decided to not have the cop testify and give his account to what happened.
It will adjourn until Monday where they will proceed with closing arguments.
The dirty cop told Judge Peter Cahill Thursday morning that he has decided to invoke his Fifth Amendment right not to take the stand. "I have repeatedly advised you that this is your decision and your decision alone," defense attorney Eric Nelson said to the dirty cop.
Nelson rested his case before the jury as soon as they entered the courtroom Thursday. The state then called pulmonologist Dr. Martin Tobin back to the stand as a rebuttal witness in response to Wednesday's testimony from Dr. David Fowler.
Fowler was on the stand all day Wednesday, testifying as a medical expert called by the defense. Fowler said his opinion is that George Floyd died of a "sudden cardiac arrhythmia" during restraint by the dirty cop and the three other officers.
Fowler added that he believes Floyd's underlying heart condition, drugs in his system, carbon monoxide exposure and his paraganglioma tumor were contributing factors.

The judge told the jury to return for closing arguments Monday with a bag packed for sequestration and deliberation. He told the jurors the length of deliberation is up to them, but suggested they "plan for long and hope for short."
In the meantime, the judge and attorneys will work to finalize the instructions that will be given to the jury on Monday to help guide them toward a fair verdict.
The trial comes at a nasty time in America.

An insurrectionist was shot and killed by a U.S. Capitol Police officer. The officer was cleared in the killing of Ashli Babbitt. The white nationalists are upset that the Black Lives Matter and woke culture failed to endorse her.
Many dismiss their complaints as blathering. Babbitt was accused of trespassing and threatening to overthrow the Electoral College on the grounds of a lie that Washed Up 45 won the election.
Her death was recorded live and it was a pivotal moment in the second impeachment of that former president.
The death of Daunte Wright has sparked intense discussions about the way police deal with Black people in comparison to whites.

A video being shared online has a white motorist plow his vehicle into police vehicles.
The white motorist manages to drag a cop and not one of the tactical unit members drew their weapons and shot him. He was captured and is facing criminal charges.
The incident happened in Minnesota. The same state where the police carried the George Floyd murder, the Daunte Wright murder and the Philando Castile murder. Matter of fact... it happened in Hutchinson, a city that is 30 miles from Minneapolis.
These incidents have shaken the norms. President Joe Biden and Democrats are hoping to pass the George Floyd Policing Act in this session of Congress.
It will need to get pass the Republican filibuster and obstructionism.
