Don't judge her. She was a human being. 

I was told that one of my longtime friends had passed away from a drug overdose. She was struggling with bipolar disorder and mental illness. 

She had a lot of problems throughout her life which included: sexual abuse, child abuse, drug abuse, prostitution, theft, robbery and possibly murder. She spent time in Ohio's Women's Reformatory in Marysville. She has been arrested over 40 times.

She had issues. Don't we all. But damn she was a human being and she had good in her. She was a caring mother. She leaves behind 11 children. She had been trying to get her life back together but it was a difficult path that led her back to the streets and the streets took her.

I don't wish no death on anyone. Regardless of what she's done to people in the past, present and up to her death, Uthona West's life mattered. 

People often dismiss those addicted to drugs as vermin and a taxpayer's burden. I don't see that. I don't see her as that. I've seen her as a good person who just couldn't find the right people to treat her throughout her mental illness. I mean being a victim of sexual abuse is one of the contributing factors.

Women who experience sexual abuse often resort to drugs, prostitution and criminal activity to survive trauma.

The very fact that her children will no longer see her is the most devastating to deal with.

To add insult to injury, we still have a drug abuse epidemic in the United States. With this COVID-19 pandemic, people experiencing mental health issues are resorting back to drug abuse to ease the stress.

Ohio woman's struggles with drug abuse led to her passing.

Uthona had a life no one ever wanted. She admitted that she didn't like the life she lived. She had tried to find escapes with women's groups and drug rehab. I even helped get her into a sobriety home in Cincinnati.

The addiction was too much. I mean the control that crack/cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and alcohol has on some is the reason why we must demand President Joe Biden and Congress find ways to help Americans struggling with drug abuse.

No one should be seeing their loved ones die from drug abuse.
