What touched off the original Black Lives Matter movement was a 14 year old boy who was brutally killed by two White men in the tiny town of Money, Mississippi. Emmett Till's death touched the nation. It showed how ruthless White extremists were towards Black children. It sparked the modern day Civil Rights movement.
Emmett was grabbed out of bed, drug to the Tallahatchie River and beaten to a bloody pulp. The white extremist gouged his eyes out and then shot at point blank range. They tied his body with barb wire and slinged him onto a cotton gin and let him sink into the river.
The woman who claimed that Emmett whistled at her at her convenience store came out of hiding to admit to the world that she made the whole thing up.
Carolyn Bryant was then a 21 year old shopkeeper who owned the store with her older husband Roy.
Bryant claimed that Emmet was flirting. She claimed he whistled at her. On the night of August 28, 1955, Roy and his brother J.W. Milam carried out the horrific deed. They were caught and tried in a court of law.
Horrible woman hiding from the junk food media. She continues to fear for pathetic life.
They were acquitted of murder. An all-white jury believed that it was justifiable because he was being unruly. They would go on to sell their publicity to the junk food media.
Bryant who was the focal instigator of this admitted that she lied.
Bryant was found by Timothy Tyson. He would write a book about the tragic death of Emmett Till and he delivered some bombshells about how a woman's malicious lie led to the death of an innocent boy.
Bryant is 82 years old and is in hiding from the junk food media.
Carolyn Bryant: EXPECT DEATH THREATS.
You horrible ass woman. You lied about a boy whistling at you and caused your dickhead husband and his buddy kill a child. It's best to stay hidden. Because if the irrational get a hold of you....It's going to be ugly.
Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) will take the knee. He and the fuhrer are tangling with one another.
Many Democratic politicians are skipping the fuhrer's inaugural. Some are citing their frustrations with the fuhrer's decision to go after Rep. John Lewis (D-GA).
Lewis, a former civil rights activist was critical of fuhrer Donald J. Trump. He said that Trump isn't a legitimate president and it merited a response from the fuhrer on social media.
Trump took to social media to say that Lewis is all talk and no action.
Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to......
Lewis took a rock to the head. Lewis felt a dog's teeth through his crotch. Lewis was arrested for peaceful resistance in 1960s and most recently 2016.
While some questioned Lewis’s assertion, many others expressed indignation about Trump's outburst, pointing out the unseemliness of attacking a civil rights leader on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Lewis was one of the original Freedom Riders, beaten by police officers while marching from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama.
Omarosa and Darrell Scott attacks Black leaders.
Trump's feud with Lewis carried echoes of his attacks on Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the Pakistani-American parents of an American soldier killed in Iraq, after Khan spoke out against Trump at the Democratic National Convention. Those attacks were widely viewed to have backfired, and Trump later modulated his words about the Khans.
Trump himself has experience questioning a president's legitimacy. He was instrumental in sowing doubts about President Barack Obama's birthplace.
Lewis, who is 76 and was first elected to Congress in 1987, is one of the few genuinely historic figures on Capitol Hill, revered by Democrats and Republicans alike. Allies of Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and Trump's nominee for attorney general, circulated pictures of him linking arms with Lewis at the 50th anniversary of the Selma march to fend off accusations that Sessions was a racist.
Nevertheless, Lewis testified against Sessions, declaring, "We need someone as attorney general who's going to look out for all of us, and not just some of us."
Sen. Cory Booker and many others oppose Jeff Session as the Attorney General.
Today is the confirmation hearings of the Attorney General. A controversial senator from the state of Alabama is the pick for the position. But his neo-Confederate ties, his past statements and his reaction towards the current issues in a post-Obama America are under fire.
Democrats are determined to fight against Republicans. They may lose this fight after the 113th Session pulled the "nuclear option" when it came to confirmation hearings. The 115th Session will quickly confirm nominees in this Republican controlled senate. They will now have the power to play moves they've longed complained the Democrats done during the eight years of Barack Obama's term.
New Jersey Democratic senator Cory Booker will testify against Alabama Republican senator Jeff Sessions in an attempt to block his nomination as the Attorney General of the United States.
Republicans faced criticism after they said they'll swiftly confirm fuhrer Donald J. Trump's picks for his cabinet and the federal courts.
At the Judiciary Committee, Booker will say that Session's record on civil rights and immigration will not live up to the principles of his predecessors.
The NAACP, the ACLU, many LGBT groups and immigration rights groups are opposing the nomination.
"I'm breaking a pretty long Senate tradition," said Booker when he was on All In with Chris Hayes.
"We've seen Jeff Sessions that's Senator Jeff Sessions --- consistently voting against or speaking out against key ideals of the Voting Rights Act, taking measures to try to block criminal justice reform."
Session was called "a threat to desegregation and the Voting Rights Act" by the NAACP.
The fuhrer and the squinty eyed bigot who he wants as the Attorney General.
So far Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) are strongly opposed to the nomination and will vote against him. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) signaled the same.
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) are cautious about Sessions as well. Scott as the only Black senator who votes as a rank-and-file Republican had said that Sessions will get his vote after a "special emphasis". He is going to remind Sessions that his vote will be cast on the answers that are relevant to the current environment.
Given the time of racial and societal unrest, Scott did voice a bit of concern about the nominees.
Republicans demonized Eric Holder and his successor Loretta Lynch. Holder and Lynch are African American and they were attacked on their credentials and race by many agitators. Sessions was one of those agitators.
Fuhrer Trump, vice fuhrer Mike Pence and the beady eyed squinty bigot Jeff Sessions are a match made in Hell.
Mike Pence is likely going to be the veep for Donald Trump. The Indiana governor has one day to decide on whether he's going to run for reelection or run for Trump's second banana.
News is being floated that the U.S. Secret Service will be heading to Indianapolis soon to give Pence a lift. The vice presidential pick will accompany Donald Trump at the Trump tower in New York.
The Trump campaign has been mum on the speculation of who's going to be the running mate.
Pence, formerly the House Majority Whip who represented the 6th Congressional District which included suburban areas east of Indianapolis and suburban areas west of Cincinnati. He was born in Columbus, Indiana. He is married to Karen and has three children.
He resigned from Congress to run for governor of Indiana.
During his first term, he was marred with scandals and controversy. He signed off a religious freedom law that openly discriminated against LGBT residents. It caused a huge backlash and it forced him to recall portions of the law. The boycott was going to push NCAA men's basketball away from Indy.
Pence said nice things about Donald Trump. He even said that although he'll support Ted Cruz and his running mate Carly Fiorina, Trump has a lot of energy here in Indiana.
Pence will be the safest choice given that the others were more toxic. Pence is a social and fiscal conservative. He is a part of the establishment. He does have experience in government and how to help Trump maneuver moderate Republicans to their campaign.
Will it make a difference?
I don't know. Pence is going to be more of an attack dog to the Trump campaign. It will give conservatives some ease. It will also make the possibility of Republicans finally uniting around a candidate that's credibility is sketchy at best.
The rest of the contenders running for the nomination are extremely flawed. Chris Christie gave President Barack Obama props for Hurricane Sandy. Christie also has the worst record as governor of a state. Jeff Session is too extreme and pro-Confederate. He has said racially ignorant things about Hispanics, Blacks and Muslims. Michael Flynn is an anti-Islamic Democrat who is pro-choice. He is a kookspiracy nut who believes the Muslims are hiding under his bed. Newt Gingrich is a washed up ham. He has more scandals than you can imagine. The Democrats could make the case of hypocrisy given that Trump's married three times and Newt was married three times. They both went after Bill Clinton for his allegations of cheating.
Well it looks like Newt Gingrich is out. Softball Hannity has paid for Newt's trip to Indianapolis to get a little time with Trump.
So far, Trump also got some support after Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg spoke ill of him. She said that Trump being the president is a disaster to human rights and American liberties.
Trump has also canceled his trip to Cincinnati to do the NAACP Convention.
Trump will also appear on Softball Hannity's program with his running mate.
Harriet Tubman is going to be honored on the $20 U.S. bill. Conservatives act a fool when the news broke.
The conservatives are going bananas over the announcement of Harriet Tubman being featured on the $20 U.S. dollar.
U.S. Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew decided that the time is now. He decided to scrap the idea of having Alexander Hamilton replaced on the $10 U.S. dollar. He decided that it's time to replace Old Hickory.
She will replace Andrew Jackson. The denomination is the most commonly bartered currency in the United States.
The changes were announced Wednesday by the Treasury as part of a historic overhaul of U.S. currency aimed at addressing America’s legacy of slavery and gender inequality.
Cue the conservative outrage.
Removing a white from $20 bill to replace with a mudskin is an act of #WarOnWhites. Wake up, white man.#HarrietTubman
The bile is so unbelieveable. The trolls underneath the bandwidth bridge makes the Republican Party look really bad. Matter of fact, Republicans face a huge deficit in rounding up minority voters.
These are the Donald Trump voters. These are the people glued to Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and The Drudge Report. These are the people who may be your friends, co-workers or your neighbors.
And they seem to be clueless on American history.
Pathetic Republicans and their hateful ass agenda.
Mother Moses fought hard for the freedom of all. She deserves the honor of being on American currency.
Black Lives Matter activist MarShawn McCarrel passed away.
The Black Lives Matter movement have went to social media to show condolences to a member of their team. He went to social media to tell the world that he's struggled for many but he felt failure came upon him.
MarShawn McCarrel who was a high profile activist in the wake of the John Crawford and Tamir Rice shootings in Ohio, was found dead. He died of a self-inflict slug. He was found on the steps of the Ohio statehouse.
"We don't have any evidence to know the reason why he did it," a State Highway Patrol rep tells the Columbus Dispatch. But the Washington Post notes McCarrel's social media posts "oscillated between joy and despair." "I love y'all," the 23-year-old tweeted Monday morning. At noon came his final tweet: "Let the record show that I pissed on the statehouse before I left." Then this Facebook post around 3pm: "My demons won today. I'm sorry."
A former teacher describes McCarrel as the student he was proudest of in his 27 years on the job. "I saw him as a shining star in the future of civil rights." Indeed: McCarrel was named one of just 15 Radio One Hometown Champions, attended the NAACP's Image Awards on Friday, helped organize Black Lives Matter protests in Ohio after the shooting of Michael Brown, founded a youth mentorship program, and worked with the homeless. "He had so much to do," his mom tells the Dispatch. "He forgot to take time for himself." A fellow activist says "the statehouse was no accident. We've been working so hard, and yet the conditions for the people in our community ... are still so hard." McCarrel was "an activist to his soul," a friend adds on Facebook. He "fought tirelessly in Ohio and beyond for the rights of oppressed people … Brother—we'll keep fighting. You rest, now."
World News Today sends our condolences to the family of MarShawn MacCarrel.
The creator and star of the hit ABC comedy black-ish went there. Anthony Anderson is the star, co-executive producer of the Kenya Burris show about a Black upscale father trying to get his suburbanite children hip to the "Black experience".
Anderson took a shot at his former friend in the entertainment industry after she made some stupid ass comments last month. And the actress clapped back at him.
Washed up actress and political agitator Stacey Dash once again stirred the pot of shit and cause another controversy.
There's a movie that's going to have a White actor play the role of Michael Jackson, sparking outrage among entertainment industry. British actor Joseph Fiennes. The movie (Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon) is facing harsh scrutiny.
Dash on the other hand, applauded the notion of a White guy playing the iconic pop star. By the way, Michael Jackson is Black and he's always identified himself as such. Although his antics were much tabloid sensation, Michael had a legacy and people respected it. Some will always judge him as a molester of children and a wack-a-doodle.
But his own children will judge him as a great father and a humanitarian to the world.
Most of Black America views Stacey Dash as "clueless".
Anderson had enough of Dash acting "clueless". So at the NAACP Image Awards, Anderson clapped at her. “Everybody give a round of applause for Stacey Dash,” the host joked on Friday. “What the hell is she doing? Doesn't she know that the Fox network is using her? She's just an Ann Coulter dipped in butterscotch.”
“Baby, don't let 'em use you,” he continued. “Come back to the black people and get back to work on some of those beautiful C-movies that you used to do!”
Anderson also made several pointed jokes about the diversity in the audience, a not-so-thinly veiled reference to the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.
“Look at all of these beautiful shades of people in the audience. Hollywood needs to know that this is what diversity is supposed to look like,” he said during his opening monologue. “I love seeing all these faces; black people working.”
“Everybody keeps saying it’s a comeback,” he added. “But hell, don't call it a comeback — we've been here for years.”
He also addressed Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who made waves when they announced a boycott of the Oscars.
“Will and Jada are in the audience tonight,” Anderson quipped. “Hell, they better be here after all this ish they started.”
As for Dash, she shot back at Anderson on Twitter on Friday night, saying, “Well it’s funny how woman who weighs 105 wet! Can get grown a– men to act like llittle girls! Haha.”
Well it's funny how woman who weighs 105 wet!
Can get grown ass men to act like llittle girls! Haha
Actor Nate Parker directs and produces a movie based on the life of rebellion leader Nat Turner. The Birth of A Nation is coming to theaters and it's already getting praise. Given the situation surrounding the Oscars and the lack of diversity in the entertainment industry, many see this movie as a perfect timing.
The movie was not inspired by the KKK-theme movie produced by D.W. Griffith.
Parker who plays the role of slave-turned Baptist leader Nat Turner. Turner lead a revolt across Virginia killing White slave owners and led many slaves to the North. The Southampton revolt (known as the Nat Turner Rebellion) in August 1831. Led by Nat Turner, rebel slaves killed anywhere from 55 to 65 people, the highest number of fatalities caused by any slave uprising in the Southern United States. The rebellion was put down within a few days, but Turner survived in hiding for more than two months afterwards. The rebellion was effectively suppressed at Belmont Plantation on the morning of August 23, 1831.
There was widespread fear in the aftermath of the rebellion, and White militias organized in retaliation against the slaves. The state executed 56 slaves accused of being part of the rebellion. In the frenzy, many non-participant slaves were punished. At least 100 African Americans, and possibly up to 200, were murdered by militias and mobs in the area. Across the South, state legislatures passed new laws prohibiting education of slaves and free black people, restricting rights of assembly and other civil rights for free black people, and requiring white ministers to be present at all worship services.
Turner eluded capture by hiding in the woods until October 30, when he was discovered by a farmer named Benjamin Phipps, where he was hiding in a hole covered with fence rails. While awaiting his trial, Turner confessed his knowledge of the rebellion to attorney Thomas Ruffin Gray.
Nate Parker plays the role of Nat Turner, the rebellion leader of the Southampton massacre.
On November 5, 1831, he was tried for "conspiring to rebel and making insurrection", convicted and sentenced to death. Turner was hanged on November 11 in Jerusalem, Virginia. His body was flayed, beheaded and quartered. Turner received no formal burial; his headless remains were either buried unmarked or kept for scientific use. His skull is said to have passed through many hands, last being reported in the collection of a planned civil rights museum for Gary, Indiana, despite calls for its burial.
In the aftermath of the insurrection there were 45 slaves, including Turner, and five free blacks tried for insurrection and related crimes in Southampton. Of the 45 slaves tried, 15 were acquitted. Of the 30 convicted, 18 were hanged, while 12 were sold out of state. Of the five free blacks tried for participation in the insurrection, one was hanged, while the others were acquitted.
Soon after Turner's execution, Thomas Ruffin Gray took it upon himself to publish The Confessions of Nat Turner, derived partly from research done while Turner was in hiding and partly from jailhouse conversations with Turner before trial. This work is considered the primary historical document regarding Nat Turner.
The film The Birth of a Nation will be released to select theaters. The 2016 film uses the same title as "the title of D.W. Griffith's 1915 KKK propaganda film in a very purposeful way", said The Hollywood Reporter. Nate Parker said his film had the same title "ironically, but very much by design".
It's gotten praise for the graphic and historical take on Turner's rebellion. It is written, produced, and directed by Nate Parker, who also stars as Nat Turner. Parker wrote the screenplay and petitioned financiers to invest in the film. It ultimately had a $10 million production budget and was filmed in the U.S. state of Georgia in May 2015. Along with Parker, the film features Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, Penelope Ann Miller, and Gabrielle Union.
The film premiered in competition at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2016. Fox Searchlight Pictures bought worldwide rights to the film in a $17.5 million deal, the largest deal at the film festival to date.
Cable network strikes back at washed up celebrity Stacey Dash
Stacey Dash getting hammered by Black entertainers. The washed up actress who appeared on that right wing network to blast a cable network that caters to Black culture.
BET got a taste of the venom Dash delivered a week ago. She went on that right wing network to say that Black America should eliminate Black History Month, BET and the NAACP Image Awards.
Dash believes that these awards are solely handed to Black entertainers and not White ones.
Of course, she got that wrong. BET fired back at her for that one. They even said that she's one to talk. Her ass appeared on the BET comedy-drama The Game.
BET devoted Jams to her. They played every video of her with the hashtag #NeverForget,
Videos that featured Stacey Dash included Memphis rapper MJG "That Girl", Carl Thomas' "Emotional", Kanye West's "All Falls Down", and Rick Ross' "Super High".
I am guessing BET is playing "Moving", "Mo Money", "Clueless" and Renaissance Man. These were movies Dash appeared in.
Rick Ross and Stacey Dash on the set of his music video.
Dash got slammed by her cousin Dame Dash, the former CEO of Roc-A-Fella Records. He says his cousin is doing "world class coonary"
She blasted Jada Pinkett Smith and Spike Lee for boycotting the Oscars after they failed to nominate Black entertainers. Jada's husband Will Smith was snubbed in his role in Concussion.
Many agitators in the junk food media claim that Jada and Will's Overbrook Entertainment doesn't do enough for the Black community. They claim that now "they want to take action after it affects them".
For the record, Jada and Will have donated $$$$$$$$$$$ to charity and invested in working in the communities they've grown up in. Will grew up in Philadelphia and Jada grew up in Baltimore.
As usual the concern troll nonsense that drives attention from reality. Out of 2,900 awards being handed out, only 31 Black winners of the Academy Awards.
That's a real problem that needs to be solved.
Now that it's gotten attention, many of the detractors are working overtime to discredit #OscarsSoWhite and #BlackLivesMatter.
Dash lit up a shit storm from many in the Black community.
President Barack Obama address gun violence with hip-hop star Kendrick Lamar.
The 11 time Grammy nominated rapper/singer Kendrick Lamar got an opportunity to meet President Barack Obama this weekend.
The Compton rapper has been very focused on politics and hasn't endorsed any political candidate for president. He heads to the White House to discuss issues involving gun violence, Black empowerment and the president's favorite song off his platinum selling album.
If these walls could talk...!
"I look at where I'm at today and realize that most of my success is owed to the mentors that was in my life," Lamar says at the opening, playing basketball with a young kid.
Kendrick Lamar and Terry Crews "Hit The Quan" in the "These Walls" video.
"I sat down with President Barack Obama and we shared the same views. Topics concerning the inner cities, the problems, the solutions, and furthermore embracing the youth, both being aware that mentoring saves lives."
To Pimp a Butterfly album is a smash. The rapper released the album in February 2015, and it spawned the hits, "i (Love Myself)", "Alright", and "These Walls".
The president admits that he's a fan of hip-hop and he enjoyed the album. His favorite song off the album was "How Much a Dollar Cost".
Last year, Geraldo Rivera went on this rant about Kendrick Lamar being anti-White and anti-cop with his song.
"This is why I say that hip-hop has done more damage to young African-Americans than racism in recent years. This is exactly the wrong message. And then to conflate what happened in the church in Charleston, South Carolina with the tragic incidents involving excessive use of force by cops is to equate that racist killer with these cops. It's so wrong. It’s so counterproductive. It gives exactly the wrong message." said the agitator.
The rapper responded back to the criticism.
"How can you take a song that's about hope and turn it into hatred?" he said. "The message, the overall message [of 'Alright'], is, 'We gon' be alright.' It's not a message of 'I want to kill people.'"
World News Today congratulates Kendrick Lamar on his success.
Talking the smack. Maine's Republican governor Paul LePage says some stupid shit.
I don't know if he was referring to drug money or a Black guy, who knows?
But the controversial Republican governor from Maine had spoken at a forum on the epidemic of heroin.
Paul LePage got on his soapbox and let his word vomit spread across the state. He rants about how the spread of heroin gotten out of control.
So while he was talking about initiatives to curb this issue, he flaunts out the stereotypical thug narrative.
"Now the traffickers ... These are guys with the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty, these types of guys. They come from Connecticut and New York, they come up here, they sell their heroin, and they go back home," LePage said. "Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young, white girl before they leave, which is a real sad thing because then we have another issue that we've got to deal with down the road. We're going to make them very severe penalties."
It drew sharp criticism from Maine Democrats and the NAACP.
LePage dismissed the criticism and said, "look at my family".
I have a Black son. Check it, his name is Devon Raymond.
Eventually the pressure got to him. He was force to admit that his statements were racist.
Woman injecting arm candy into her body.
"I apologize again," LePage told reporters, saying he "slipped up." "My brain was slower than my mouth."
Many Republican-governed states seen a huge spike in heroin. LePage has previously called for greater enforcement against out-of-state dealers, and said last year he would consider using the state's National Guard.
Maine lawmakers are considering a bill to help ease the crisis that would include money for Drug Enforcement Administration agents and other law enforcement, in addition to funding for treatment programs and facilities. LePage, however, has threatened to veto the bill for what he said was favoritism toward treatment facilities receiving funding.
Maine being a 95% White-majority state is appealing to White and anti-gubmint extremists. They know how to traffic the narcs. But of course, it's them Boston......"insert racial slur" who are responsible for the rise in heroin.
LePage and his huge family. He adopts Devon Raymond into his family.
LePage has made many offensive remarks during his time in office, and in 2013 was accused of saying President Barack Obama hates white people. LePage denied the reports.
He once told the Maine NAACP to pucker up to his ass. "Tell ‘em to kiss my butt,” LePage said. "If they want to play the race card, come to dinner and my son will talk to them."
LePage may soon face impeachment. Democrats in the state legislature plan to move forward with an impeachment motion next week.
The Texas trooper who arrested Sandra Bland is charged with perjury. This charge got him fired out the cannon. Now if he's convicted, he could also face a year in the iron college.
Brian Encinia, 30 has been on desk duty since the event. He denies any wrongdoing. He will have a day in court to face this misdemeanor charge. He is innocent until proven guilty.
Sandra Bland's story made to the the junk food media after #BlackLivesMatter brought attention to it.
Trooper was cannon fired for lying on his statements.
Sandra was from Chicago and was at Prairie View A&M University for a job interview.
Encinia pulled Sandra over for an apparent lane change violation. He would engage in a combative confrontation with her after she refused to exit her vehicle. Sandra was smoking a cigarette and Encinia wanted her to put it out.
In the dash camera footage, you hear Encinia threaten to use the Taser on Sandra and threaten another person filming the incident. He claimed that Sandra resisted arrest. Sandra complained about an injury and didn't get treatment.
He forgot to mention that in his statement.
After her arrest she was placed in the Waller County lockup. After three days in there, the lockup crew discovered her lifeless in her interment. They said that she may have committed suicide using a trash bag.
The family isn't buying the bullshit. They believe that the lockup crew failed to render aid to Sandra during her stay. They are taking the Waller County to federal court.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the Democratic candidate running for president mentioned her name in the debates. He believes that the incident is a tragic reality of deadly police encounters with people of color.
Rosa Parks got on a local Montgomery Bus after a tired day. She was told to move to the back of the bus for an older white guy. She refused. The bus driver called the law. Rosa was fingerprinted, photographed and booked in the local lockup.
This sparked a movement.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott, a seminal event in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, was a political and social protest campaign against the policy of racial segregation on the public transit system of Montgomery, Alabama. The campaign lasted from December 1, 1955—when Rosa Parks, an African American woman, was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat to a white person—to December 20, 1956, when a federal ruling, Browder v. Gayle, took effect, and led to a United States Supreme Court decision that declared the Alabama and Montgomery laws requiring segregated buses to be unconstitutional.
Many important figures in the Civil Rights Movement took part in the boycott, including Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and Ralph Abernathy.
Rosa was known as the mother of the modern civil rights movement.
Her act of civil disobedience became a historical feat. Her impact helped the United States become a little bit better.
Springfield tire company faces heat for posting on social media a video degrading a homeless Black man.
What you put on the internet could end up being there forever. Given the situation that three men are facing, they regret posting on Facebook their taunting of a disabled Black homeless man.
In Springfield, Ohio, the workers over at Jim's Used Tires are facing some heat. They were recording this encounter with Allan Deonne Dubose, a local man who has special needs and is regarded as homeless in the community.
While on the job, a worker whips out his camera phone and two of his co-workers were taunting him by calling him "boy" and whistling at him like an animal. Then one of the workers grabbed an air compressor and shot a bit of air on Allan.
They posted it on social media and shared it with a few of their friends. Well a friend of friend saw this and was applauded by this.
She took it to WHIO-TV, Dayton's most watched news agitator.
When one of the residents who aids Allan saw that video, she went right into the faces of the workers and owner. She demanded that they apologize to Allan or face a boycott from residents.
Allan Deonne Dubose thinks that the people who filmed him should grow up.
Matreka Nache, who said she looks after Allan and lives in the neighborhood, said she approached the workers at the tire shop Thursday after seeing the video for the first time.
“Nobody deserves to be treated like that,” she said.
The shop’s owner, James Payton, calls what happened an ugly prank — the video was posted in May 2014 — and offered his apology to Allan and put his two workers on ice.
“We let him clean the trash out of the office, give him a little bit of change from time to time, coffee. They just got comfortable with him, in my opinion,” Payton said.
The owner said Allan has always been welcome at the shop and always will. He said he addressed the video months ago when he first saw it.
Thursday, he said the backlash has forced him to give the two employees the next two weeks off.
Allan said he thinks the men who pranked him should clean up their act, but he doesn’t want to see them punished.
I'm proud to be...me! Rachel Dolezal comes out of hiding to tell the public that she's pregnant. By the way, she's White.
The former NAACP president who brought her "faux pas" to the junk food media announced she is pregnant. Oh, by the way, she admits that she is a White woman. She's also admits she's bisexual.
This woman is a hot mess.
Rachel Dolezal became a lightening rod for the agitators in the media. Despite all the good she's done for the civil rights organization, she hid the fact that she was a White woman portraying herself as a Black woman.
Dolezal's own parents "outed" her as a White woman. They told the junk food media that she was born in Montana. She wasn't adopted. She does volunteer work for the community. She was infatuated with Black culture. She lied to get into Howard University. She married a Black man. She adopted two Black teen boys. She even tries to talk "Black".
The junk food media sought interviews with her and wanted to know why did she fake the funk!
Dolezal refuses to be called a White woman. She says that she's a product of African roots.
The Real got an opportunity to talk to her.
She also addresses her feud with her family.
The Real co-hosts Tamar Braxton and Loni Love asked Dolezal about the matter sans pretense.
“It was hurtful to a lot of Black women,” said Love. “There were some people who felt that you never identified yourself as white so when you went to Howard University. Some people felt like they never knew you were Black, and so maybe the scholarship, you know when you got admitted to Howard, that took an opportunity from a Black woman.”
Rachel Dolezal talks about her ordeal and her pregnancy. She gets a grilling from Loni Love and Tamar Braxton.
“Right, and that’s why I said, I acknowledge that I was biologically born white to white parents, but I identify as Black,” Dolezal responded.
Whether or not her admitting to being born white was enough, Braxton pushed the issue further and asked what ethnicity Dolezal lists herself as in official forms and documentation. Say, if she were to fill out a job application. Dolezal’s response?
“The form in particular usually defines things,” she said, before adding: “I check white and black, because we all have human origins in the continent of Africa.”
Dolezal did receive a standing ovation from the crowd for admitting her white heritage, as well as for her supposedly being honest while answering the co-hosts’ questions.
Andy Parker, the father of murdered TV reporter Alison Parker is now a victim's rights advocate.
A few months ago, a terrorist murdered Alison and Adam Ward on live television. The terrorist was a disgruntled news reporter who blamed society for his social ills. He said in his manifesto that he wanted to be recognized for his criminal acts. He wanted the world to know that he's gotten tired of being pushed around by the system.
Ever since that incident, we had another mass shooting. Andy Parker was there in Roseberg, Oregon.
He was actively pressuring lawmakers to pass reasonable gun control. His campaign to fight gun violence has garner attention. His activism is being criticized by conservatives who believe he's exploiting his daughter's death for political activism. They believe that any laws passed would result in more gun crime. In their warped minds, President Barack Obama is determined to take away guns.
And regardless of what is said by the president, the agitators will find some reason to blame him for "politicizing" tragedies.
Andy has teamed up with the families of Sandy Hook and Aurora to pressure Congress to change course on guns.
One of the Aurora shooting victims, Jessica Ghawi was a sports reporter. Jessica was killed by a deranged terrorist. The terrorist killed 12 people inside a movie theater during a premiere of the sequel to Batman, The Dark Knight Rises. Jessica was a survivor of the 2011 Toronto mall mass shooting.
Jessica's family tried to sue the ammo and gun manufacturers in court and lost. Lonnie and Sandy Phillips wanted to sue Lucky Gunner, the company that provided the terrorist with his ammunition.

The Republican appointed judge said that the family can't sue on political activism. The family is now ordered to pay up $250,000 in court cost. The Supreme Court granted immunity to the gun manufacturing.
Gun crime is the number one threat in the United States. It's been over a few weeks since the Umpqua Community College shooting. Now the junk food media passed on Umpqua, we hear about more and more gun crimes.
We hear about children getting a hold of firearms and accidentally shooting a family member. This is becoming a horrible trend.
In Chicago, a father is facing time in the iron college for second degree murder. He left his firearm in an area where his children could find it. When one his children got pass the trigger lock, he shot his brother in the chest.
Michael Santiago is being charged for not only second degree murder, but reckless endangerment.
Dad faces criminal charges for involuntary manslaughter.
The loaded gun had been wrapped in a pair of pajama pants and stashed on top of the refrigerator, Chicago police said.
Santiago was at work at the time, and the boys' mother was at the store. Their grandfather Israel LaSalle, who lives upstairs from the family, was watching the boys and had sent them downstairs to their apartment to get something with which to clean up after the dog, according to CNN affiliate WLS-TV.
"I heard a pop, you know, like somebody had shot, so I opened the door and I look out and he was running up the stairs and he told me somebody shot his brother," LaSalle told WLS.
The 3-year-old died at a hospital.
Santiago is a former gang member who illegally purchased the gun, police told CNN on Monday. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 get out free card. He was originally given the $1 million get out free card.
The boy and his brother's names are withheld.
Gun control advocates argue research shows children often know where weapons are hidden and say weak state laws offer too little deterrent to careless storage of guns. The National Rifle Association has argued that mandatory storage laws are unnecessary.
World News Today send our condolences to the family of those killed in senseless gun violence.
The Million Man March turns 20. The Nation of Islam's Honorable Louis Farrakhan and many speakers appear at the National Mall to discuss the issues facing Black America.
The Million Man March returns to Washington. This will celebrate 20 years since the first march upon the National Mall.
Justice or Else: The 20th Anniversary of the Million Man March: Justice or Else, sometimes abridged as Justice or Else or stylized as Justice or Else!, is a movement and a march in Washington D.C. that is part of the Black Lives Matter activist movement. Louis Farrakhan announced his "Justice or Else" event commemorates the 20th anniversary of the October 16, 1995 Million Man March.
Minister Louis Farrakhan will headline the event. It will outline a lot of things. One in particular is the Black male inside out. I managed to hear the speech and I strongly agree with the premise of the minister.
One thing that caught me was the instructions. His instructions are basically keep fighting for justice and ignore the noise. The noise (i.e. that annoying conservative agitator, David Clarke, Jr., O'Loofus and that network) will take his speech out of context and make it seem like he's calling for the death of White America. He doesn't call for any death of human beings. He said that arrogant America will be condemned by God. He said that the rich will continue to push the poor into fighting one another.
He said that Black men should keep BITCH out of their mouths.
He said that Black men should learn that killing one another doesn't bring strength. It brings weakness and it's a plan.
He slammed former Ferguson officer Darren Wilson for being a part of the system of corrupt lawmen who take joy in the pain and sorrow of Black America.
I wish I would have went tot the March. I would love to find my place in the world.
A famed clothing company is filing for bankruptcy today. It's a sign that shoppers aren't finding any interest in American Apparel. I couldn't be any more happier of the news.
I've never bought anything from that company. I've never applied for a job there. I've always had a feeling that they would use discriminating tactics in hiring. AA founder's Dov Charney, a Canadian-American business mogul was fired out the cannon after he was caught up in a sexual harassment and discrimination scandal.
The company once held a gold standard of hiring practice. They didn't want any "trashy Black women" ever hired at their stores. Watch "the ones" who may shoplift from the store. Look for the "right types of customers". You know "the ones" who got money.
AA was having that going on at their stores.
So now the company will focus on trying to bring back customers. AA want to restart the company under Standard General, an American based hedge firm.
The company, which has seen spiraling sales and an ever-sinking stock price since the management upheaval began, proposed a plan that would keep its 130 U.S. stores open and maintain its Los Angeles manufacturing operation, the Times reported. No layoffs were mentioned in the Chapter 11 petition, which was approved by American Apparel’s board, and filed in Delaware, the newspaper said. The plan requires approval by the federal bankruptcy court, it added.
American Apparel’s shares closed at 11 cents each last week.
American Apparel’s brand recognition has far exceeded its sales numbers over the past decade with its “Made in the USA” ethos, provocative advertising, and colorful, scandal-ridden founder Dov Charney.
Charney didn't go quietly. He mounted a civil war within the board.
Notice something about this picture!
The new CEO Paula Schneider is facing mounting criticism. She promised a turnaround. It's a little too late for the turnaround. Schneider is considered inept among the shareholders.
American Apparel saw new legal fees, a workforce moving towards unionization, plummeting sales, and wider losses. It announced layoffs earlier this year, as well as store closures. Questions have been swirling around the company’s ability to pay a major interest payment later this month.
The bankruptcy, if approved, will mean just that. It will also wipe out Charney’s stake in the company, according to the Los Angeles Times. Standard General and other creditors will gain full control of American Apparel if the plan is approved.
“Not having the nuisance lawsuits, not having this massive debt, these are all extremely important things for the company to thrive,” Schneider told the Times in a Sunday interview.
There's talk about a biopic about Def Jam. Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons pioneered the hip-hop label. Jay-Z signed on as an artist and distributed his independent label Roc-A-Fella and RocNation through Def Jam.
Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin created the legendary Def Jam Recordings in 1983.
Now there's talk about a movie being made in regards to it.
Michael B. Jordan and Jonah Hill are considering the roles.
Def Jam was founded by Rick Rubin in his dormitory in Weinstein Hall at New York University.
Russell Simmons joined Rubin shortly after they were introduced to each other by Vincent Gallo.
They would create on of the world's powerful hip-hop labels. The Def Jam umbrella includes Island Records and the legendary Motown Records. Each of these label operate as a separate entity under the Universal Music Group.
The last movie based on the rise of Def Jam was Krush Groove. The movie was a semi-biopic of Russell Simmons rise to media mogul.
Deadline reports that Universal is working to develop a movie based on the 2002 memoir of Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons, “Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money, + God.”
The label that created Run DMC, Public Enemy, EMPD, LL Cool J, Rick Ross, Ludacris, 3rd Bass, The Beastie Boys, 2 Chainz, DMX, Jeezy, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Iggy Azalea and Jay-Z.
The film would chronicle Simmons’ and Rubin’s creation of the legendary hip hop label that defined rap in the 80s. The pic is expected to “explore how hip hop grew from an underground sensation into a dominant and pivotal voice of culture and change.”
Russell has expressed that he is flattered that Michael B. Jordan is being considered to portray him in the pic, as Global Grind reports.
The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority wants to expand into other communities.
About a few years ago, Beavercreek, Ohio was under intense pressure from local riders and the federal government to advocate public transit to its community. Beavercreek residents and city leaders were opposed to the bus line coming to the area.
The staunchly conservative suburb outside of Dayton, fought hard to keep the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) from making stops near The Mall at Fairfield Commons.
The U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Highway Administration gave the suburb an ultimatum. The city better get a bus line out there or else lose federal funding for projects vital to the suburb.
Beavercreek city leaders approved the proposal and RTA managed to get a bus line out by the mall and Soin Medical Center.
Route 1 was rerouted in 2014. It was once a trolleybus route. Now it serves as a semi-county route. It begins at a layover loop in the census designated community of Drexel. It travels through U.S. Highway 35 for a brief moment. The bus passes through the junction where U.S. 35 meets Ohio State Route 49. Once it passes the junction, the bus travels east on Third Street, Dayton's dividing road.
Once it enters the city of Dayton, it goes to the Westown Transit Center and through Roosevelt-Westwood neighborhood. It also travel through the Dayton Aviation Historical National Park before it travels across the Dayton Peace Bridge. For a few miles it's also called Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Some segments of Third Street are dedicated to the slain civil rights leader. It also passes through the Dayton and RTA Cultural Arts Center before it heads toward downtown.
The bus travels through downtown. It passes through Sinclair Community College, the Canary district and Springfield neighborhood. It passes through Riverside and Wright Patterson Air Force Base. It enters Greene County where it runs a concurrent route pattern. One bus will go clockwise through Beavercreek and briefly through Fairborn towards Wright State University. The other bus will go counter clockwise through Pentagon Boulevard toward the Soin Medical Center and The Mall at Fairfield Commons. The bus terminates on Colonial Glenn Highway near the Wright State University campus. The road is devoted to U.S. astronaut and former senator John Glenn.
I've read the Dayton Daily News comment section. I've seen some of the most vile and racist word vomit from residents here complaining about how the ni663rs took the Salem Mall down. The concern trolls were complaining about the Dayton Mall being the hub of Get-Toe B'havior.
When the John Crawford shooting occurred in August 2014, many residents blamed the bus line for the shooting. They didn't find fault in the reckless call committed by Officer Sean Williams.
The concern trolls were saying that the bus line near the Mall at Fairfield Commons would turn the shopping center into a Z00.
So far, I've haven't heard much about unruly behavior at the bus stops. I mean there's only three measly bus stops near the Mall at Fairfield Commons. How many people actually ride that bus?
Dayton during the construction phase. Interstate 75 is being reworked through downtown. Beavercreek is six miles from downtown Dayton.
You have to wait at least 120 minutes to catch a bus.
The Greater Dayton RTA rallied for the next phase in its growth. They want to extend two routes to The Greene.
The Greene is close to celebrating 10 years in business. The shopping mall located in Beavercreek and Kettering is an outdoor mixed retail and housing center that gives residents a "downtown" shopping experience. RTA wants to be a part of the celebration. The owners of The Greene and RTA propose a bus stop located near the movie theater. The city leaders of Beavercreek are signalling approval of the bus line.
There are two buses that run near the mall.
Route 11 is county route that follows in a semi-circular path. Route 11 begins at Woodman Drive near Patterson Road. It travels towards the suburb of Riverside, the Eastown Transit Center and through the Wright Patterson Air Force Base before it heads towards Dayton. It covers the city of Oakwood, and a majority of Kettering. It passes through the Kettering Medical Center and Town & Country Shopping Center. The route terminates near the Kettering Recreation Center. The route passes near The Greene.
The Greene.
Route 12 is a local route that covers Kettering and the Five Oaks neighborhood. The route begins at the Good Samartian Hospital after a brief travel towards Northwest Plaza in Dayton. The route goes through Five Oaks and Upper Riverdale Neighborhood. It also passes through the McPherson neighborhood and the Dayton Art Institute. It goes through downtown and the Oregon Entertainment District. It follows a southwestern path towards Kettering. It passes near The Greene.
RTA is hoping to expand services into Miami, Greene, Warren County, Butler County, and extend their bus service to 2 am.
The bus company now has buses that serve The Austin Landing shopping complex, The Dayton Mall, The Mall at Fairfield Commons, the Dayton International Airport and Wright State University.
Dayton is the smallest city to still have trolleybuses. Out of five cities, Dayton is the smallest city to have overhead trolley wiring and bio-flex diesel trolleys.
Seattle, Boston, San Francisco and Philadelphia have trolleybuses that serve commuters. These cities have subways, light rail transit, commuter rail and ferries. Dayton doesn't have subways, light rail or commuter rail or ferries.
Any thoughts on RTA's decision to expand its bus lines?
