A Brooklyn man is under arrest in Florida in connection with a string of high-profile Manhattan robberies, including a daring broad-daylight raid on a Chanel store earlier this month.
Eric Spencer of Brooklyn was arrested in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday in connection with the robbery of the Chanel store, and several other high-profile robberies within the pattern, two senior NYPD officials with direct knowledge of the investigation tell News 4.
The case was investigated by the FBI-NYPD Joint Major Theft Task Force and the NYPD’s Manhattan North Grand Larceny Division. Spencer, charged with one count of robbery, appeared Monday in federal court in Florida, the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office confirmed.
He waived an identity hearing and was ordered detained. No date has been set for his court appearance in Manhattan federal court.

The sources said Spencer is indirectly connected to another crime as well -- an incident last November when a 70-year-old was struck by a bullet on a bus in Bed-Stuy. Spencer was on that bus and was the intended target, according to sources.
"As alleged, Eric Spencer put the public and store personnel in grave danger when he committed a brazen daylight armed robbery of a SoHo boutique earlier this month," U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Audrey Strauss said Monday. "Now the FBI and NYPD have grabbed Spencer, who is in federal custody and awaiting his day in court."
Federal prosecutors claim Spencer is one of four men wanted for the robbery of the Chanel store. The men busted into the store at mid-afternoon; video recorded by a woman inside shows them moving about, grabbing designer bags and goods by the armful while two others hold the doors open.
At one point, a security guard inside told Spencer that she was armed. Prosecutors allege he responded, "What are you going to do? Shoot me?" and showed her the butt of his own gun.
In charging documents, authorities say the man took to social media one day after the robbery, claiming he had so many stolen items he could "open a small boutique."
It was not immediately clear if Spencer had legal representation.
Police confirmed at the time that the suspects were believed responsible for a pattern of robberies — 20 in total, including a COS store next door — taking place from SoHo to midtown over the past couple of months. NYPD Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison said the robbery spree began during the widespread looting that took place over the summer.
The suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Rodwin Allicock, a married father of two died in a freak accident at a cemetery in Long Island. The 42-year old was working on a grave when the leveling out the bottom of the hole gave in. The man was trapped under tons of dirt.

In the annual CPAC presidential straw poll released shortly before Trump spoke, 95 percent of conference attendees said the GOP should continue with Trump's issues and policy ideas, and 68 percent of attendees said Trump should run again in 2024.
Trump's aides had urged him before speaking Sunday to focus his ire on Biden and the Democratic Party, while limiting mentions of his disputes with Republican lawmakers who have criticized him. Instead, he blistered by name the Republicans who supported his second impeachment, including "grandstanders" like Sens. Mitt Romney and "Little Ben Sasse" and the "warmonger" Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
Again, why we continue to give oxygen to this guy?
Because he could win again and sure enough, we cannot allow this man back into the White House.

The city of Orlando, Florida has the opportunity to host this event. Only a few blocks from the Pulse nightclub shooting site where an extremist who pledged loyalty to the Islamic State opened fire on club goers in a late night massacre. An event only to be surpassed by the Las Vegas massacre.
The Conservative Political Action Conference is the largest gathering of Republican and far-right agitators. It's like the place for grooming future presidents. Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush and Trump managed to use the CPAC influence to help win their elections.

He went to Cancun, Mexico shortly after Texas experienced the worst winter storm in over 100 years. It almost destroyed the power grid and left 20 million Texans out of power and water. The Texas delegation left their constituents in the middle of a deadly pandemic and a natural disaster to denounce climate change, the pandemic restrictions and wearing a damn face mask to control this.

The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives passed the American Rescue Plan early Saturday morning. The vote came upon party lines with 219 Democrats supporting, two Democrats opposing it.
The Republicans did not support it.
The legislation which President Joe Biden wants passed quickly will now head to the Senate which will be a nail-biter. The two moderate senators, Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) will likely support the package.
The vote came early around 2am. The Republicans spent a majority of the time either traveling to Orlando to bitch about Biden or bitch in the House about the 9% of the bill having some earmark or whatever they never read in the bill.
Progressive members of the House are angry that the $15 minimum wage was left out of the bill. The Senate parliamentarian said that the minimum wage increase in the bill will not make it to reconciliation.
Sinema and Manchin are also opposed to the increase.
The Democrats managed to pass the American Rescue Plan with many of them on board.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that the minimum wage will be passed in this Congress and she confirms the House will work on a bill that will make it to Biden's desk for him to sign.
Biden wants this legislation passed before March 14. The reason why he wants it now is because those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will not have unemployment benefits after Congress doesn't pass it.
QAnon Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) fresh off his ass kissing tour with former president Donald J. Trump cried about the legislation passing through the House.
"This isn't a relief bill. It takes care of Democrats' political allies while it fails to deliver for American families," McCarthy said in his presser. "We already know what is the best stimulus plan out there: It is to fully reopen our economy. To do that, we need our economy to go back to work, back to school and back to health."
We are reminded that under Trump over 500,000 Americans died from the coronavirus. Over 40 million people lost their jobs. Large gatherings and embracing others is now out of the question.

When the Joint Session of Congress is announced, we expect Republicans to not show up or interrupt the session with theatrics.
The American Rescue Plan is receiving strong support. Over 69% of Americans support the bill being passed through Congress and many Republican governors and mayors are quietly saying that the bill will help reboot the economy.
Majority of the bill will have funding for the vaccines. But of course, Republicans refuse to tell you that. They rather you get worked up over some trivial issue that they claim is a part of a "liberal wishlist."

You might be confused on how I'm addressing it! But on packaging they're no longer using the words Mr. or Mrs. in the branding. Effective immediately, the next line of Potato Head toys will no longer have the label.
The toy will be still available for purchase it just won't carry the formal title of Mr. and Mrs. anymore.
The decision was issued on Thursday. They wanted to drop the "Mr." from the brand's name in order to be more inclusive and so all could feel "welcome in the Potato Head world." It also said it would sell a new playset this fall without the Mr. and Mrs. designations that will let kids create their own type of potato families, including two moms or two dads.
The far-right was outraged over this. They believe that Hasbro was caving to pressure from progressive groups and pushing an agenda.
The House quickly passed the Equality Act which bans discrimination against Americans based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. One of the main sponsors, Rep. Marie Newman (D-IL) has a transgender daughter and she felt this is going to be a historic moment for her and those who identify as transgender.
It riled up Republicans.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and her fellow members of the white nationalist "Freedom Caucus" rejected it and said that biologically born children should not be invading the "girl's restroom" or playing "girl sports."
They probably would love to see transgender women in the male prison when they commit crimes too.....!
Many people who identify as transgender will face discrimination in the workplace and home buying.
Transwomen are likely to be victims of sexual abuse. Many who identify as transgender face brutal treatment which leads to suicide.
Transgender rights are human rights. Your transgender son or transgender daughter deserve the right to have education, housing, an opportunity to change the world and a place at the table. The country can't be saying "We the People..." when we ain't including people.

It could be a breakthrough for McKinley Phipps, formerly known as rapper Mac. The 43-year old is currently in the iron college facing LIFE for a crime he swore he didn't commit. He performed at a nightclub in Louisiana when a fight broke out. Then there was a shooting where a man was killed.
The fight broke out before the show that resulted in a gunshot that struck and killed 19-year-old Barron C Victor, Jr. after Victor attempted to break up the fight. Phipps was arrested and charged with second-degree murder of Victor.
He was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to thirty years to life in prison on September 21, 2001.
He is currently serving his sentence at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana. Days into the police investigation, Thomas Williams, a man who was working security that night at the club, confessed to shooting Victor after another patron charged him with a beer bottle. Despite this, police pursued charges against Phipps.
Mac was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 30 years in prison. He is currently serving his sentence at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in Louisiana. Phipps maintains his innocence, and his parents have campaigned to re-open the investigation into his case for many years.
The Louisiana Board of Pardons and Parole recommended Monday that Phipps be made eligible immediately for parole. It now goes to the desk of Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards for sign-off. If approved, Phipps will need to appear before the parole board one more time.
His wife Angelique Phipps have said on social media that she's hoping that the governor does consider her husband eligible for parole.
Mac recently married his wife. His wife has strongly advocated for his release.
Phipps has been on work release at a facility in Raceland in Lafourche Parish since earlier this month. Reliving the night of the shooting to the parole board Monday, Phipps recounted seeing a commotion on the dance floor and hearing a shot fired. He ran to the front door to look for his mother, and they left together, he said, adding that he later learned a man had been killed.
Russell Baker, a close childhood friend of Phipps who was with him that night, told HuffPost it’s been a long and painful struggle in the years since, and he won’t feel relief until he can finally see his friend back with his family.
“It’s basically 21 years to the date that it happened. When it first initially happened, my faith was strong and I basically knew that no innocent man would be sent to jail for life. I knew for a fact that he was innocent,” Baker said. “My faith in the justice system has taken a hit.”
He said he will forever be sympathetic to the victim’s family, but it doesn’t change what happened to his friend.
Erik Nielson, a University of Richmond professor and co-author of “Rap on Trial: Race, Lyrics and Guilt in America,” has been a part of the team fighting for Phipps’s freedom. Nielson has conducted extensive research that has been critical of the use of lyrics to seek criminal convictions against Black artists.
“Everybody is very optimistic that this is by far the key hurdle,” he told HuffPost of Monday’s verdict. “His whole family has been tireless. His parents have been so beaten down by the process.”
But there’s still some uncertainty hanging, he said. “It’s not over until he’s out.”
The president heads to Texas to see the damage from the winter storm.

In the wake of the winter storm that nearly failed the power grid in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott vows to fix the mess that he and his predecessors created. The state of Texas uses its own power grid and it nearly collapsed because of the state's refusal to regulate the energy industry.
The executives of the ECOT were forced out after it was revealed that some didn't even live in the state and they failed to get the ground running when the storm happened.
Energy companies are sending bills to struggling families. Some are getting bills that are nearly over $2,000. The state is demanding the energy companies wave fees. They are demanding the energy companies to find ways to ensure this never happens again.
Abbott also faced heat for appearing on Fox News to trash the Green New Deal, a proposal sponsored by controversial lawmaker, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).
They did not winterize their pipes and didn't expect the winter storm to be destructive.
Nearly 20 million Texans lost power and are struggling to get water.
The Republicans continue to pretend this disaster is not a big deal.
The far-right agitators were outraged that President Joe Biden did not immediately head down to Texas.
The president will meet with Abbott, Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), House members and state leaders. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) opted out to meet the president. He will be in Orlando, Florida at the CPAC 2021 bitching about the election and why Biden didn't come to Texas in the first place.
Cruz faces backlash for leaving the state for a vacation to Cancun, Mexico. He also will face backlash for going to CPAC instead of staying in the state to help his constituents.
Cruz even mocked the controversy he's facing.
"I've got to say, Orlando is awesome! It's not as nice as Cancun, but it's nice."
The far-right were outraged that the president didn't go Texas about a few days after the storm passed.
This was their attempt at trying to paint the president as a doddering old fool. Biden did not want to waste time and resources needed for residents who are in desperate need.
Ted Cruz decides to leave his constituents again for the warm luxury of Florida. He goes to CPAC.
Anyway, the president and First Lady, Dr. Jill Bide will survey storm and power grid damage. They will visit an emergency operation center and food bank. They will stop in Houston and head to the NRG Stadium to see how the rollout of the coronavirus vaccines.
During a televised meeting with the governors, the president said to Abbott about the Republicans refusal to work with him and the extremism within it ranks.
"Governor Abbott, I don't want to rduni your reputation. But I look forward to coming down to Houston to be with you. And I want you and the residents to know that we're here to provide the federal assistance you need to support your state."
Biden won't come to Texas and throw paper towels and tell people in emergency shelters to "have a good time." Biden has empathy for Americans when it comes to natural disasters.
The far-right will say it's all for publicity and the such, but they've already complained that Biden didn't show up. So make up your minds! Which is it?
