She was released from the Henry County, Georgia lockup after spending a few nights on the roster.

Wyatt was arrested Sept. 20 in Henry County, Georgia, on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, and third-degree cruelty to children, Complex reports. Booking records identify her legal name as Ketara Wyatt Darring, though key details about the reported incident remain undisclosed.

The child cruelty charge is categorized as a “3rd Degree Witness” offense, according to booking records. Under Georgia law, this charge applies when a person alleged to be the primary aggressor allows a minor under 18 to see or hear a forcible felony, battery or act of family violence. The charge does not necessarily mean a child was physically struck. The records do not identify which child was involved or specify which act was allegedly witnessed.

Complex noted that potential penalties vary by charge and circumstances. Aggravated assault can carry a prison sentence, while a first or second conviction for third-degree cruelty to children is generally treated as a misdemeanor under Georgia law.

The Georgia arrest is unrelated to a separate assault case Wyatt faced more than two decades ago in Kentucky. Nearly 25 years ago, a Kentucky grand jury indicted her on second-degree assault charges after her then-husband and manager, Rahmat Morton, was stabbed during a Christmas Day domestic dispute in 2002, according to Complex.

That case was eventually dismissed. Wyatt later addressed the incident publicly, stating she acted in self-defense during a period of domestic abuse. She told ESSENCE Magazine at the time that her life was in danger and she “wanted to protect my kids.”

At the time of the 2002 indictment, Wyatt was a rising star whose debut album, “Soul Sista,” had reached the top five on the Billboard R&B and hip-hop charts. Her duet with Avant, “Nothing in This World,” was a top five R&B single.

Wyatt has not issued a public comment regarding the recent charges.

Her team stated that official court documentation only reflects a single charge of simple assault and explicitly pushed back against the child cruelty narrative, asking the public not to repeat inaccurate information involving children.
