The Redskins are no more. The Washington football team is in search of a new name. |
Years of protests have finally paid off. The George Floyd protests and the COVID-19 pandemic have sparked intense discussion about racism in the country. Donald J. Trump's failure to control these issues has led to civil unrest, global uncertainty, record high unemployment and record death thanks to the coronavirus.
The Washington Redskins are officially going to retire the name.

The team has been around for nearly 90 years.
The team was a mockery of Native Americans.
This month pressure was facing the team. ESPN has reported that many companies were pulling out of sponsorships for the team.
The corporate and public pressure to change the name finally came to a decision by team owners, the players and many in the league.
"On July 3rd, we announced the commencement of a thorough review of the team's name. That review has begun in earnest. As a part of this process, we want to keep our sponsors, fans and community apprised of our thinking as we go forward. Today we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review."
The team later added, "Dan Snyder and Coach Rivera are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of our proud, tradition rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years."
We have unrest in the nation. African Americans and Native Americans had enough of the status quo in politics, religion, entertainment and law. The need to change started on May 25, 2020 when a cop placed his knee on the neck of an American citizen. He screamed, "I can't breathe...." and cried for his "mama."
It's time for a change in the way we do politics, television, radio and the status quo of American exceptionalism. White privilege has long existed in this country..
People of color are often ridiculed and subjected to humiliation and discrimination in the United States. We have to stop and think about our fellow human being.
In the age of Donald J. Trump, we're experiencing a wake up call. If you believe that his presidency has destroyed our values and our country, get registered to vote.
It's time to vote him out!
