The Funeral Of John Lewis!

The honorable John Lewis funeral is today.
Today, Congress will mourn the late Rep. John Lewis (D-GA). His body will lay in the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol before he makes the last journey to Atlanta for the final session at the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

On Sunday, Lewis' body made the trip from his birthplace in Troy, Alabama to Selma. The horse drawn carriage took his body across the Edmund Pettus Bridge one last time.

Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) spoke on behalf of Lewis that day. You can watch the video along with the livestream of his formal congressional funeral.

The civil rights leader and activist served as a U.S. Representative from the state of Georgia. He passed away at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of American activism.

He was known as the "social conscience" of the House of Representatives.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC), Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and the members of the House will honor the late congressman.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and the U.S. Senators will be in attendance.

Barack and Michelle Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter, George W. and Laura Bush, Joe and Jill Biden will pay their respects to Lewis in some fashion.

Rev. Al Sharpton will be expected to speak to the funeral of Lewis in Atlanta.

We honor a man who fought his life for the pursuit of civil rights for all Americans.

Donald J. Trump and Mike Pence are not expected to attend this funeral.
