Oprah Shuts Down O!

O Magazine is ending in 2020.
Oprah Winfrey has decided shut down O Magazine (formerly The Oprah Magazine).

The media mogul has been at odds with Hearst Publications and felt they weren't running her magazine and branding right.

Begun 20 years ago, O magazine has decided to cease publication once the December 2020 issue hits the newsstands.

Hearst Publications has struggled throughout the years. O Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Harper's Bazaar and Marie Claire were the company's most profitable tabloids.

Hearst has faced a laundry list of turmoils. One in particular is CEO Tony Young.

The New York Times released a bombshell story about his bad behavior. Young and his cohort, chief content officer Kate Lewis, came from the digital side of the business, took over the magazine, and began destroying them.

Showbiz411.com reported it's unclear if Oprah pulled the plug or Hearst did it for her, but it was concerns that she wanted to change hands. If Oprah does shift distributors, O could continue on.

The O Magazine was founded by Oprah in 2000. It was ran by Gayle King, then editor-and-chief.

She would eventually leave the magazine to do full-time hosting duties on CBS This Morning. She is also still a contributor the magazine.

Oprah has been like many of us. Holed up at home. She had strict requirements for people visiting her. She has maintained that anyone visiting must be quarantined and have mandatory temperature checks.
