The Detroit born singer said on social media, it's a wrap.
Anita Baker, the famed R&B, jazz singer announced on Twitter that she is retiring from the music business. Her label Blue Note was completely unaware that she was not giving them the best she got.
It all went down last week when she posted a cryptic message to her fans.
๐Oh , no regrets... Music has been/is very good 2 us. God Gifted in every possible way. We just stay "humble" about๐#2GBTGpic.twitter.com/DfLvdL2G21
I remember that she had an album that was supposed to be released some years back, but it was scrapped.
She is a four time platinum selling artist. She won eight Grammy's for her albums.
I wonder if the fuhrer Donald J. Trump's victory caused her to retire. Obviously, many entertainers are not keen on the pussy grabber winning the election.
Anita Baker, you're our angel. We hope the best for you. And retirement isn't going away! It's kind of taking a break from the hustle and bustle of the music industry.
Divas take a photo op. The fuhrer and bitch boi Kanye West meet.
The meeting of two minds. One is a controversial rapper/producer/reality television star/bitch boi who married a controversial reality star who got famous off a sex tape. The other is a controversial billionaire racist/sexist/pussy grabbing/immature reality television star who will be the first Fuhrer of The United States.
After being spotted donning a shade of blonde, Kanye West emerges from his mental breakdown even more nuttier. West and wife Kim Kardashian have suffered setbacks. Wifey was robbed of her jewels and tied up in the bathroom while vacationing in Paris. She has taken a break from reality television and social media.
West had a bipolar breakdown. He was in Los Angeles getting treatment. When he left the hospital he hopped on a plane and headed to the second White House in Manhattan to meet with fuhrer in waiting Donald J. Trump.
The guy who went off script by saying "George Bush doesn't care about Black people" is buddying with the guy who once demanded President Barack Obama show his birth certificate.
Trump is in a honeymoon period. He hasn't gotten used to the responsibilities of being in charge of a country with 330 million people. About 1/2 of the country hates him and his Christian extremist partner Mike Pence.
This photo op on Tuesday gives the impression that he's desperately trying to reach out to Black voters.
West even teased the idea that he could be the next fuhrer in eight years. We all know that Trump is likely going to win reelection based on how weak and spineless the Democrats are.
I mean he pulled at least 10 percent or more of the vote.
I didn't vote for him.
I didn't buy Kanye West's album or even wasted time downloading it.
John Legend who supported Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama was not happy about the photo op.
West had went after former mentor Jay-Z at a concert and bashed Queen Bey.
We already put one of them inside the White House.
Although E! Network says that production will resume shortly, I won't be surprised. The main attraction is probably leaving the show and it will lead to collapse of a longtime favorite junk food media show.
E! Network may eventually announce the news that Keeping Up With The Kardashians will be cancelled after Season 12. The news isn't hardly a surprise but given how this was a dominate force in the junk food media, it's a cautionary tale of what happens when the cameras are focused on your daily life.
In October, Kim Kardashian West was robbed at gunpoint in Paris. This happened a few hours after she posted on social media her plans, her property and her lackluster of knowledge to the area.
The robbers made off with over $10 million in property and tied the reality television agitator up and sacked her in the bathroom.
Since the robbery, she fired her bodyguard and publicist for the incident. She had not posted on social media since October 2nd and hasn't made any public appearances. Even on her birthday.
Her husband, rapper/producer/bitch boi Kanye West isn't doing any better. His album The Life of Pablo wasn't his masterpiece. He had a huge fallout with many in the rap community.
West has praised the controversial billionaire/racist/sexist/pussy grabbing/immature/reality television manchild who is about to your next president.
West has attacked Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose, Jay-Z, Queen Bey, President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Kid Cudi and his fans before he had a nervous breakdown.
West postponed his concert tour while he is being treated.
The reality of being a celebrity has Kim Kardashian thinking it's not all that's it's cracked up to be.
It's going to be a quiet birthday for the most talked about reality star in the world. Kim Kardashian-West turns 36 year old today. The celebrity agitator hasn't been on social media since October 2. The Paris robbery really rattled her and it's sure seems like she's heading for a low-key lifestyle.
All her public appearances were cancelled indefinitely.
This bit of drama wasn't reality television. This was actually reality. Kim and her family were appearing at Fashion Week in Paris. Kim and her family were having a good time in Paris and decided to stay at the Hotel de Pourtales.
While her bodyguard Pascal Duvier was with Kourtney and Kendall, Kim went to bed early.
About 2am, five men on bicycles grabbed a man who worked at the hotel. The man was held at gunpoint and ordered to unlocked the security doors. As he was hit in the head and handcuffed, they go to the room where Kim was staying at.
They forced their way into the room and grabbed Kim out of her bed. They held a gun to her head.
They tied Kim up and she begged them not to kill her. They didn't kill her, they gagged her and thrown her into the bathroom. They shut the door and rummaged through her stuff.
They managed to steal her personal phones, her jewelry all totalling over $10 million.
They were caught on camera escaping into the darkness.
Around that time, her husband, rapper/producer Kanye West was performing in New York. He abruptly stopped the show and left for France. After the incident, the family went back to New York under heavy security. Kim decided to skip the Las Vegas B-Day show and Kanye for the time being is still continuing his concert tours.
CBS news program 60 Minutes decides to air the Kim Kardashian interview in which she openly said that she can handle the pressure of being in the limelight.
Were the thieves enticed by the social media from Kim?
Okay, I am going to be blunt about the social media. I would never post anything valuable online.
I would never let people know that I am leaving for vacation on social media. I would never post any pictures online while I'm gone out of town.
I would never post pictures of my relationships online.
I am pretty jealous of people who post on social media. I don't want to waste my time looking at that stuff. I have enough issues to worry about.
Here's her guest appearance on Last Man Standing in which Mandy (played by Molly Ephraim) meets her idol at a bookstore
Bonus feature: Kim's appearance on 2 Broke Girls. When Max (played by Kat Dennings) and Caroline (played by Beth Behrs) were opening up their cupcake store, Kim makes a purchase.
The celebrity agitator was allegedly robbed while in Paris, France. We haven't gotten all the details about the controversy, but Kim Kardashian-West is pretty shaken up by this.
Husband, rapper/producer/celebrity agitator Kanye West abruptly cancelled his performance to handle a major "family emergency".
Kardashian-West was jacked up by two men who portrayed themselves as police officers. They were armed and they weren't playing games. They took an undisclosed amount of properties.
As Kanye West was performing in New York he would kill the music and say to the fans, "I'm sorry...I'm sorry, family emergency. I have to stop the show!"
Fans were left speechless wondering if this was a stunt or for real.
Apparently it was real...
Now if Kim K. was robbed of her properties, I am assuming that the robbers will sale the photos and videos of her to tabloids for a hefty sum.
The celebrity agitator was in Paris at their Fashion Week.
Proud first time parents. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen-Stephens welcome a daughter.
R&B superstar John Legend and his supermodel wife Chrissy Teigen welcome a baby girl.
Legend, a former native of Springfield, Ohio signed on as an establish act for Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music Entertainment. The singer has won numerous Grammy's and even an Oscar for best song for the movie Selma.
"She's here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy," Teigen captioned a photo of the baby’s weight on Sunday.
World News Today congratulate John and Chrissy on the birth of their daughter.

Wiz Khalifa confirms that feud with Kanye West is over.
Wiz Khalifa still despises Kanye West but confirms that the feud between them is over. Last month, Kanye West launched into a Twitter meltdown dogging on Wiz after the rapper accused him of dissing his wife Kim Kardashian. Wiz was saying the actual meaning for KK is Khalifa kush.
In his rant, West managed to dog on Amber Rose and their son Sebastian.
Amber Rose clapped back and told her social media followers that Kim K. and Kanye do butt traffic and finger play. That set the junk food media ablaze. But after a few weeks of verbal snapping, it seems like the two ladies managed to work it like moms.
It's been told that Kim and Amber worked it out through their publicists. Kim actually called up Amber to directly squash the feud.
On Amber Rose's social media she poses with Kim Kardashian signalling a truce.
I am clearly a huge fan of Wiz Khalifa. He normally is a smoker not a fighter. He doesn't have many rap beefs with anyone. I know Kanye was kind of pissed Amber hooked up with Wiz, but he's now with Kim. Kim's antics turned him out.
Kanye's behavior was tolerable for some time. I remember the George Bush doesn't care about Black people remark. I also loathe his antics when he stole the spotlight from pop singer Taylor Swift.
Kanye West is a rapper, producer, songwriter, and media mogul. He is the founder of G.O.O.D. Music (Gettin' Out Our Dreams). He signed rap acts, Pusha T, Q-Tip, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), Big Sean and singer John Legend to his label. West is signed through Def Jam with contractual association ROC Nation/Roc-A-Fella Records. He is married to Kim Kardashian and has two children with her.
Ego Trippin' .
Wiz Khalifa is a rapper, singer, songwriter and actor. He's the founder of Taylor Gang Records. LLC. He hails from Pittsburgh. He came to fame when he released his hit single "Black & Yellow" which would become the Pittsburgh Steelers "unofficial" anthem. He is signed to Atlantic Records and Rostrum Entertainment.
Taylor Gang Records is ran by former Three Six Mafia rapper Juicy J and Wiz.
Juicy J along with his brother Project Pat, Chevy Woods, Ty Dolla $ign and Berner record music along with Wiz Khalifa.
Amber Rose is a professional model, actress, video vixen and author. Legal name is Amber Levonchuck (formerly Thomaz). She was married to Wiz (Cameron Thomaz) for a few years before they had a divorce. They still remain friends and raise their son.
Survival of the fittest.... Chicago rapper King Louie survived a shot to his dome.
Chicago rapper Louis King Johnson, Jr. professionally known as King Louie got bucked in his hometown. He was shot seven times. One of them slugs went directly into the side of head.
That shooting happened in the Ashburn neighborhood of Chicago. The rapper was in his ride when out of nowhere some assailant ambushed him. The assailant let the slugs fly.
The rapper had a hospital stay after this. He survived a shot to the head.
Counting his blessing, he said that the violence here gotta stop. He knows he's "marked" for life, but he doesn't want to see others meet fates like this.
"The devil is working overtime, that's my opinion," King Louie said.
Now recovering at home, King Louie says he carries with him bullets still lodged in his body.
"I was shot 7 times. I still have two bullets in my chest and on in my ear/head,” he said.
King Louie had worked with fellow Chicago-rappers Common and Kanye West. He is also known for helping create the term "Chi-Raq," which refers to the violence in Chicago.
King Louie wasn't really keen to Hollywood mocking his city. Spike Lee made the satirical drama "Chi-Raq". Louie didn't appreciate the movie director making fun of the mass shootings in his community. He made a song directed at Spike Lee.
King Louie joined Chicago rappers like Common, Lil Herb, Saba, Tree, Noname Gypsy and more on "Put the Guns Down,"
The country's most talked about celebrity welcomes her son to the world.
Celebrity agitator Kim Kardashian-West gave birth to her son. The Kardashian clan can confirm that Kim gave birth on Saturday morning. Kanye West, her husband of two years couldn't be a proud papa.
This is the second child for the celebrity couple.

She told the junk food media that she was expecting a son in May.
NBC is rolling out a big event for the holiday. The reboot of the famed Broadway show is coming back to the screens with an all-star African American cast. Produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, it will premiere on the network.

It will premiere on the network on December 3rd.
It's been 40 years since The Wiz. The 1975 Broadway production won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical was an early example of Broadway's mainstream acceptance of works with an all-black cast.
The Broadway show is an urbanized retelling of L. Frank Baum's classic 1900 children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of modern African-American culture.
Stephanie Mills, who once played Dorothy in The Wiz will make a guest star role as Aunt Em.
The musical inspired a motion picture film that featured Diana Ross, Nipsey Russell, Ted Ross, Lena Horne and Michael Jackson. It was viewed as a flop but remains a cult classic among the fans.
Teacher facing criticism after posing as Kanye West in blackface.
A Decatur, Alabama teacher may face a cannon firing for posting on social media his "cool" costume.
He and his wife wanted to go as America's most talked about reality couple. Unfortunately he put on the coal and started doing the "nah nah".
Heath Marrow is apologizing to the junk food media after his wife posted the picture of him in blackface as the rapper/producer/celebrity agitator Kanye West.
It soon made it to Reddit and went viral. Now his school is investigating the incident and may fire Marrow out the cannon.
He's a primary school educator who loves his job. He loves to teach and he has "many black friends".
“I didn’t know dressing up as a celebrity couple would cause so much controversy,” his wife Shannon Morrow told the junk food media. “There was no malicious intent in this costume. It’s for HALLOWEEN, the one time a year it is okay. Some of my husband’s best friends are black. There was no racial intent whatsoever.”
So as in "I'm not a racist" fashion, Heath and Shannon issue an apology to the local junk food media that covers the Huntsville-Decatur area.
To whom this may concern:
I would like to first apologize for my error in judgment. My intentions were not malicious or directed toward any certain group of people. I would also like to say that everyone who knows my character and knows my heart, knows that I have never seen color in my life. I wasn’t raised or taught that way and do not raise my children that way. I see people for who they are, and my wife and I go out of our way to help anyone we can in my profession as an educator. When deciding to dress up for a Halloween party, my wife and I made a decision based on celebrities and the political climate today. I do not want this to reflect on my school or school system based on my poor decision that I made. Again I apologize and this will not happen again.
Sincerely,
Heath Morrow
Kanye and his celebrity agitator wife Kim Kardashian-West have been in the news for their wacky family drama and the second bump her belly. There's talk about friction between the two.
Is divorce on the way says the junk food media?
For one thing, I don't believe anything on the internet. Second, who cares?
They are right now consoling Khloe in the wake of her ex-hubby Lamar Odom's tragic accident.
They care less about some nobody in Alabama.
Morrow, a 5th-grade teacher at Chestnut Grove Elementary School, went to a private Halloween party over the weekend with his wife.
Morrow's boss the superintendent Ed Nichols said the district is investigating the incident.
"We are saddened as a district by the action of a member of our staff that have offended members of our community, and most of all, have taken away from the focus of our children and the good things that are going on in our school district and with our children," Nichols said.
The country's most talked about celebrity couple got rumors of divorce in the air.
Nichols wouldn't comment on the teacher's current employment status with the school.
"As a school district, we are looking into this issue and seeking advice from our legal counsel, and I want to make sure that all the citizens of our community know that we do not condone this action or any action that would bring any offense to a person based on their race, their religion, or any other matter," Nichols said.
Nichols also didn't say anything about follow-up actions.
"Due to the ongoing investigations, I cannot talk about those procedures. However, I do plan to meet with leaders in our community to discuss this issue and seek their advice and their counsel on what we can do as a school district, for our staff and our students, to do a better job of being sensitive to those around us and their feelings," said Nichols.
It was confirmed that Oscar award winning R&B singer and his model/talk show host wife are going to be parents.

The famed Chocolate Thunder, Darryl Dawkins passed away.
The legend of Chocolate Thunder. The famed dunking center would often break the glass when he done them dunks. He earned the name from R&B legend Stevie Wonder.
The name stuck, and the rim-wrecking, glass-shattering dunks remain unforgettable — as will the giant of a man who changed the game with them. Darryl Dawkins died Thursday at a hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, according to the Lehigh County coroner's office. He was 58, and even though officials said an autopsy would be performed on Friday his family released a statement saying the cause of death was a heart attack.
"Darryl touched the hearts and spirits of so many with his big smile and personality, ferocious dunks, but more than anything, his huge, loving heart," his family said. "His family, wife Janice, children Dara, Tabitha, Nicholas and Alexis, along with countless family, friends, and fans, all mourn his loss.
"More than anything Darryl accomplished in his basketball career as the inimitable 'Chocolate Thunder,' he was most proud of his role and responsibility as a husband and father," his family added.
Dawkins, the first player to go from high school into the first round of the NBA draft, spent parts of 14 seasons in the NBA with Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah and Detroit. He averaged 12 points and 6.1 rebounds in 726 career regular-season games.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Dawkins was "beloved around the league."
He was a beloved player said NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
"The NBA family is heartbroken by the sudden and tragic passing of Darryl Dawkins," Silver said. "We will always remember Darryl for his incredible talent, his infectious enthusiasm and his boundless generosity. He played the game with passion, integrity and joy, never forgetting how great an influence he had on his legions of fans, young and old."
Dawkins was, by any measure, a character. His love for the game was unquestioned and unwavering — he appeared at an 76ers alumni event earlier this month and recently posted a photo to his Twitter account of him coaching a summer-league girls team.
Dawkins was as revered off the court as he was on it. He remained enormously popular after his playing days were done, even during his stint as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. He would name his dunks — the "look out below," the "yo-mama" and the "rim wrecker" among them — and often boasted that he hailed from the "Planet Lovetron."
In actuality, he was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, growing up impoverished with dreams of giving his mother and grandmother better lives.
"A great man, entertainer, athlete and ferocious dunker," former NBA guard Kevin Johnson wrote on Twitter. "He will be missed but not forgotten."
Injuries plagued Dawkins late in his NBA career, and he went overseas for several more years to play in the Italian league. He also briefly had stints in the Continental Basketball Association and the International Basketball Association. He also coached at times, at both the minor-league and junior-college levels.
He averaged double digits in nine consecutive NBA seasons, with his best year likely being the 1983-84 campaign for New Jersey. He averaged a career-best 16.8 points that year, with only foul trouble — 386 that season, still a league record — holding him back.
"Darryl Dawkins is the father of power dunking," Shaquille O'Neal once said. "I'm just one of his sons."
Many across the country expressed their thoughts to a great legend. World News Today send our condolences to the family of Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins.
Carson is placed either third or fourth in national polls. He does a victory lap on GOP Sundays to talk about Donald' Trump's feud with the network that thinks radical Islam is more dangerous than heroin addiction.
Ben Carson, former neurosurgeon and clown running for the Republican nomination appears on GOP Sundays to talk about his performance. He was also brought into the Trump controversy with Megyn The Outrage Princess.
GOP Sundays managed to score interviews with Donald Trump. He was on the programs except the network that think Black pool goers are doing a little dance around a McKinney, Texas cop. Trump was pissed at the Smirking Chimp Chris Wallace and Megyn after he put them in the place with those set up questions.
On GOP Sundays John Dickerson asked his thoughts on the matter between Trump being banned from the RedState Gathering to how Republicans are towards women.
"I think that may be a difference between political correctness and, you know, courteous speech.
What bothers me is when people say, you know, 'You can't say this word, you can't say this phrase, you can't event think that, you, can't express this,' And it's very difficult for people to have an honest conversation if they can't express themselves. But in no way do I advocate, you know, saying mean things about people. That has nothing to do with political correctness."
Quite funny hearing that from someone who called people who support Hillary Clinton for president a bunch of "useful idiots".
Isn't that kind of mean, Dr. Carson?
"If Hillary is the candidate, which I doubt, that would be a dream come true. But you know, the fact of the matter is, she is the epitome of the progressive -- the secular progressive movement. And she counts on the fact that people are uninformed, the Alinsky Model, taking advantage of useful idiots.
Well, I just happen to believe that people are not stupid. And the way I will come at it is to educate people, help people to actually understand that it is that progressive movement that is causing them the problems.
You know, you look at the -- the national debt and how it's being driven up. If I was trying to destroy this country, what I would do is find a way to drive wedges between all the people, drive the debt to an unsustainable level, and then step off the stage as a world leader and let our enemies increase while we decreased our capacity as a military person. And that's what she's doing."
Carson's sure enough can dish it out! He insults Hillary and her supporters. But when it comes to Trump insulting Megyn and that network that once paid him as a contributor, he doesn't think it was nice and respectful.
The Republicans love to call people names and such. So does the Democrats. But seriously, the problem lies where the party stands.
Trump has widen the gap between Republicans. They don't know how to control this. They love it when he dogs on President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Rosie O'Donnell. But they turn chicken when he aims at John McCain and Megyn.
See Donald Trump was well aware of what to expect from the establishment. I haven't check the polls but it seems like he's still holding a solid lead against Jeb Bush and Scott Walker.
I might also question to why this was timed. Rosie O'Donnell agitated a war with Trump over her views of the Miss USA and Miss Universe contestants behavior outside of the crown. She also blasted Trump for being a "snake oil salesperson". That became a nearly decade long feud in which they have publicly blasted each other on television and radio. I heard that that MSNBC fired Meghan McCain out the cannon. McCain now joins the network that hired Elisabeth Hasselbeck but fired the cannon on the ex-Alaskan governor.
The main debate and second tier debate were a total mess. I mean it was something out of a reality show. None of them presented a decent policy nor a counter balance to what President Barack Obama offered. All I heard was probably 2,500 mentions of Hillary Clinton and 1,800 mentions of Obama. I am of course probably exaggerating how many mentions but clearly this what the first debate dealt with. How bad was one and how bad could be the next!
Carson is ranked in either third or fourth place is he is bragging about his performance at the debates.
Before I go, I just learned that NFL legend and sport announcer Frank Gifford has passed away. He is the husband of NBC News daytime agitator Kathie Lee Gifford. He died at age 84, a few days shy of his and Kathie Lee's birthdays. World News Today send our condolences to the Gifford family.
You've heard the song "Stand by Me". It was sung by Ben E. King. That song was used in the 1980s Rob Reiner's cult classic Stand By Me. The movie featured the late River Phoenix.
The song is on on the RIAA's list of Songs of the Century.
The Associated Press reports that the R&B singer passed away last night. His baritone voice helped The Drifters score some major hits.
King started his career in the late 1950s with The Drifters, singing on hits including There Goes My Baby and Save The Last Dance For Me.
After going solo, he hit the US top five with Stand By Me in 1961.
King was born Benjamin Earl Nelson on September 28, 1938 in Henderson, North Carolina, and moved to Harlem, New York, at age 9.
King was active in his charitable foundation, the Stand By Me Foundation. He was a resident of Teaneck, New Jersey, from the late 1960s.
King performed "Stand By Me" during a televised tribute to late comedian George Carlin, as he was one of Carlin's favorite artists.
On November 11, 2010, he performed "Stand By Me" on the Latin Grammys with Prince Royce.
Ben E. King with his wife Betty.
King toured the United Kingdom in 2013 and played concerts in the United States as late as 2014, despite reported health problems.
King died on April 30, 2015, at the age of 76.
His agent said he suffered from "coronary problems" at the time of his death.
He was survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty.
Wikipedia entries stated that King (still using his birth name) joined a doo wop group called the Five Crowns. Later in 1958, the Drifters' manager George Treadwell fired the members of the original Drifters, and replaced them with the Five Crowns.
King had a string of R&B hits with the group on Atlantic Records. He co-wrote and sang lead on the first Atlantic hit by the new version of the Drifters, "There Goes My Baby" (1959). He also sang lead on a succession of hits by the team of Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, including "Save the Last Dance for Me", "This Magic Moment", and "I Count the Tears".
King only recorded thirteen songs with the Drifters—two backing other lead singers and eleven lead vocal performances—including a non-single called "Temptation" (later redone by Drifters vocalist Johnny Moore). The last of the King-led Drifters singles to be released was "Sometimes I Wonder", which was recorded May 19, 1960, but not issued until June 1962.
Due to a contract dispute with Treadwell in which King and his manager, Lover Patterson, demanded that King be given a salary increase and a fair share of royalties, King never again performed with the Drifters on tour or on television; he would only record with the group until a suitable replacement could be found. On television, fellow Drifters member Charlie Thomas usually lip-synched the songs that King had recorded with the Drifters.
In May 1960, King left the Drifters, assuming the more memorable stage name Ben E. King in preparation for a successful solo career. Remaining with Atlantic Records on its Atco imprint, King scored his first solo hit with the ballad "Spanish Harlem" (1961).
His next single, "Stand by Me", written with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, ultimately would be voted as one of the Songs of the Century by the Recording Industry Association of America. King cited singers Brook Benton, Roy Hamilton and Sam Cooke as influences for his vocals of the song. "Stand by Me", "There Goes My Baby", and "Spanish Harlem" were named as three of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll; and each of those records plus "Save The Last Dance For Me" has earned a Grammy Hall of Fame Award. King's other well-known songs include "Don't Play That Song (You Lied)", "Amor", "Seven Letters", "How Can I Forget", "On the Horizon", "Young Boy Blues", "First Taste of Love", "Here Comes the Night", "Ecstasy", and "That's When It Hurts". In the summer of 1963, King had a Top 30 hit with "I (Who Have Nothing)", which reached the Top 10 on New York's radio station, WMCA.
King's records continued to place well on the Billboard Hot 100 chart until 1965. British pop bands began to dominate the pop music scene, but King still continued to make R&B hits, including "What is Soul?" (1966), "Tears, Tears, Tears" (1967), and "Supernatural Thing" (1975). A 1986 re-issue of "Stand by Me" followed the song's use as the theme song to the movie Stand By Me and re-entered the Billboard Top Ten after a 25-year absence.
We here at World News Today send our condolences to the family of Ben E. King. The world lost a great musician.
When hip-hop wins, conservatives scream. Common and John Legend won an Oscar. One conservative agitator who is obsessed with President Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright is attacking them.
As proven, I knew with according timing that annoying conservative agitator would take a dig at John Legend and Common after accepting their Oscar for Original Best Score in a motion picture.
He and C.O.R.E.'s Niger Innis both launch into this rancid attack on John Legend.
That agitator complained that Legend "decided to make all things political." Even though Legend didn't explicitly bring up voter ID laws in his speech, The agitator went on to suggest that it was inappropriate for Legend to "equate the Voting Rights Act with showing an ID to get to vote so we can keep honesty and integrity in our elections ... I like John Legend as a musician, but he doesn't know anything about politics":
This agitator is so annoying. He is the worst cable news host in American media.
Of course, the annoying conservative agitator claims that it's not racist that Republicans want stricter voter ID laws. The agitator invoked Jeremiah Wright again in attacking Common.
Back in 2011, that fool was ranting about Common attending the White House. The agitator went off on Common by saying he's a "cop killer" and claimed that President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama should be investigated for allowing this "criminal" into the White House.
Common is a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. The church became the scapegoat for the Jeremiah Wright controversy. This conservative agitator and many others continue to invoke Wright every time a controversy about race comes forth. A way to red meat their racist supporters.
The folks over at Media Matters is preparing for more outrageous comments from that annoying conservative agitator. He's in Washington, DC prepping for his CPAC speech. He's certainly going to bring up the word vomit.
I betcha that in five minutes, you'll hear "radical ______", "Obama", "Hillary", "liberal", "Jeremiah Wright", "Bill Ayers", "vacations", "golfing", "Ronald Reagan" and "Benjamin Netanyuhu" in his CPAC speech. It's pretty much his radio show and television program in a speech.
Common and John Legend won an Oscar. They join Eminem and Three Six Mafia as Oscar award winning hip-hop entertainers. Their song for the hit movie Selma took home an Oscar. It also defies the little controversy ensuing nominees being mostly White performers.
Congratulations to Common and John Legend. Glory won the Oscar for the Best Score in a Motion Picture.
Wikipedia give a brief summary of both entertainers.
Common debuted in 1992 with the album Can I Borrow a Dollar? and maintained a significant underground following into the late 1990s, after which he gained notable mainstream success through his work with the Soulquarians.
In 2011, Common launched Think Common Entertainment, his own record label imprint and in the past has released music under various other labels such as Relativity, Geffen and GOOD Music, among others.
Common's first major-label album, Like Water for Chocolate, received widespread critical acclaim and tremendous commercial success.
His first Grammy Award was in 2003, winning Best R&B Song for "Love of My Life", with Erykah Badu.
Its popularity was matched by May 2005's Be, which was nominated for Best Rap Album, at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Common was awarded his second Grammy for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group, for "Southside" (featuring Kanye West), from his July 2007 album Finding Forever. His best-of album, Thisisme Then: The Best of Common, was released on November 27, 2007.
Common won the 2015 Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, and the 2015 Academy Award for Best Original Song, for his song "Glory" from the 2014 film Selma, in which he co-starred as 1960s Civil Rights Movement leader James Bevel.
Common's acting career also includes starring significant roles in the films Smokin' Aces, Street Kings, American Gangster, Wanted, Terminator Salvation, Date Night, Just Wright, Happy Feet Two, and New Year's Eve. He also narrated the award-winning documentary Bouncing Cats, about one man's efforts to improve the lives of children in Uganda through hip-hop/b-boy culture.
He starred as Elam Ferguson on the AMC western television series Hell on Wheels.
John Legend was born in Springfield, Ohio. He is one of four children of Phyllis Elaine (nรฉe Lloyd), a seamstress, and Ronald Lamar Stephens, a factory worker and former National Guardsman.
Throughout his childhood, Legend was homeschooled on and off by his mother. At age four, he performed with his church choir. He began playing the piano at age seven. In 1987, when he was nine, his parents divorced. At the age of twelve, Legend attended North High School, from which he graduated four years later. Upon his salutatorian graduation, Legend was offered admission to Harvard University and scholarships to Georgetown University and Morehouse College. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied English with an emphasis on African American literature.
While in college, Legend served as president and musical director of a co-ed jazz and pop a cappella group called Counterparts. His lead vocals on the group's recording of Joan Osborne's "One of Us" received critical acclaim landing the song on the track list of the 1998 Best of Collegiate a Cappella compilation CD.
Legend was also a member of the prestigious senior societies Sphinx Senior Society and Onyx Senior Honor Society while an undergraduate at Penn. While in college, Legend was introduced to Lauryn Hill by a friend. Hill hired him to play piano on "Everything Is Everything", a song from her album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
During this period, he began to hold a number of shows around Philadelphia, eventually expanding his audience base to New York, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. He finished college in 1999, and thereafter began producing, writing, and recording his own music. He released two albums independently; his self-titled demo (2000) and Live at Jimmy's Uptown (2001), which he sold at his shows. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Legend began working as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group.
During this time, he began working on his demo and began sending his work to various record labels.
In 2001, Devo Springsteen introduced Legend to then up-and-coming hip-hop artist Kanye West; Legend was hired to sing during the hooks of West's music. After signing to West's label, he chose his stage name from an idea that was given to him by poet J. Ivy, due to what he perceived "old-school sound". J. Ivy stated, "I heard your music and it reminds me of that music from the old school.
You sound like one of the legends. As a matter of fact, that's what I'm going to call you from now on!
I'm going to call you John Legend." After J. Ivy continued to call him by the new moniker "John Legend," others quickly caught on, including Kanye West, and the name stuck. Despite Legend's reluctance to change his stage name, he eventually announced his new artist name as John Legend.
Common (Lonnie Lynn) and John Legend (John Stevens) are affiliated with Kanye West and his label G.O.O.D. Music. Common is a signed artist on Def Jam and John Legend is a signed artist on Sony Urban Music.
The conservative agitators aren't going to love this. Common and John Legend are friends with Barack and Michelle Obama.
A few years back, Common was invited to the White House for a poetic session and that annoying conservative agitator went bonkers over it.
Also the conservative agitators hated the fact that John Legend and Common both express concern about Black men being profiled by police.
Common currently attends Trinity United Church of Christ. The church was the scapegoat in the Jeremiah Wright controversy.
