Janet Reno passed away. She was the first woman appointed as the Attorney General of the United States.
Breaking today is the death of the first woman appointed as the Attorney General of the United States. Janet Reno passed away overnight. She was 78 years old. The complications of Parkinson's Disease led to her death.
Reno is best known for being the toughest female top cop. Bill Clinton appointed Reno to become the Attorney General in 1993. She served throughout Clinton's two terms.
She would be involved in the deadly World Trade Center attack of 1993, the Waco stand off, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing and the Columbine massacre. The Elian Gonzalez affair was a controversial issue.
Born in 1938, Reno grew up in Miami, Florida, with parents who both worked as reporters for Miami newspapers. After attending Cornell University for her undergraduate degree, Reno enrolled at Harvard University for law school in the early 1960s. During her first year, she heard one of her heroes, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, speak at the Sanders Theater.
"She was so wonderful and her voice was still so clear and so magnificent," Reno later recalled in a 1993 speech to the Women's Bar Association. "And I went up to her afterwards, and I said, "Mrs. Roosevelt, I think you are perfectly wonderful." And I will never forget her looking at me and saying, 'Why, thank you, my dear. Those words mean so much to me.' And she seemed to mean it."
When Clinton's administration was rocked by the Whitewater scandal, Reno was the person tasked with appointing special prosecutor Robert Fiske to lead the probe in 1994.
The Clintons were never charged with criminal wrongdoing.
In Clinton's second term -- months before his impeachment -- the Republican-controlled House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform voted to cite Reno for contempt of Congress for failing to hand over key memos.
Reno eventually provided those documents. Congress never moved forward with a vote on the matter.
News hits the Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign today knowing that she will not be indicted in the email server.
Sheriff David Clarke, Jr. of Milwaukee County is an outspoken concern troll. When he's not doing his job as top cop of Milwaukee County, he goes to Fox News or AM agitators to bitch and bemoan about Black America's grievances with law enforcement. He's trying to sweep issues like this under the rug. I had to respond to this.
Let me rap with you, "honorable" Sheriff David, Clarke, Jr of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin.
Brotha, you and me have a problem.
Sheriff Clarke, you share one thing in common with Maricopa County, Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio and Butler County, Ohio's Richard T. Jones: It's the disregard for the right to protest injustices caused by those in law enforcement.
I am from Dayton, Ohio, a city that has a population of 141,000 residents. A city struggling with the rise of gun violence in the Black community. I am a Black man in my mid-30s, single and working.
I work two jobs and try to live a normal life. I know I am far from perfect. I had minor traffic violations. I know people who have criminal history.
I am certain that you'll never meet me and sure enough I'll never meet you. I can tell you that seeing you on television kind of makes me wonder if you're just showboating for attention while your community is grappling.
From the day, you appeared on many outlets in the junk food media, you've been on this "Cosby" theme rant about how Black America needs to respect those who wear the badge.
Do you understand that even respecting the badge allows you and many others commit atrocities against unarmed Black men and women?
I've been the victim of racial profiling. I know friends who've been profiled by law enforcement.
You often single out Black Lives Matter, President Barack Obama, former Attorney General Eric Holder, current Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson as the enablers of police shootings.
No one I know personally or professionally want police officers to be killed. However, I do want police officers and supervisors held accountable for conduct.
Seriously, the President of the United States and those who protest aren't responsible for the actions of one man.
It's like saying a right wing terrorist shooting up a Black church is the fault of conservative agitators like Fox News, Sean "Softball" Hannity, Matt Drudge and Rush Limbaugh. They have nothing to do with the acts of that guy but it's often the blame of the rhetoric you place on the feet of Black Lives Matter.
So is it fair to compare that terrorist to the protesters?
Is it fair to compare the Tea Party to terrorists?
Given the rise of Black Lives Matter in the wake of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Michael Brown, the Black community has awaken to a reality that you've often ignored.
Black Lives Matter doesn't condone violence against police officers. They mourn the deaths of police officers just like the rest of America. They just want those who kill unarmed citizens of color held accountable for their actions.
Black people are under attack. We're under attack by a system that constantly undermines our achievements, our successes and our goals. A system where if you are a person of color, you might face a sentence harsher than a White person. If you're confronted by the law while holding a firearm, if you're a Black person (suspect or lawful citizen), you're likely to be detained or killed by an officer because he feared for his life.
Say if I committed a sexual assault on person, I would be put in prison for LIFE without a chance for parole. People like Brock Turner and John Enochs get off with lighter sentences. Their excuse, "foolish misbehaving" and "innocent mistakes".
Black people are often guilty before proven innocent. See when Freddie Gray was detained, conservatives and people like you would bring up previous encounters with the police or use their social media postings to justify arrest, detainment or death.
Racial disparities in the criminal justice system is real. Black people by an astonishing amount believe that they have been either a victim or know a victim of racial profiling.
Black people are often stopped by law enforcement far more than Whites. It's often a minor traffic offense like a turn signal that causes officers to unlawfully search your vehicle without consent.
I question the reason why I'm being pulled over regardless of me being guilty or innocent. I do not consent to vehicle or home searches. If they search my vehicle or home regardless of what I say and they destroy my property, the police never pay for the damages of my properties.
I often asked for their name and badge. I often let them know that I have a conceal carry license.
Now I do have a dash camera in my vehicle. I will inform any officer that I am recording them if they are to pull me over for any infraction. I want them to know that I respect my rights as well as their jobs as servants of public safety.
I often get threats of being pulled over or ticketed (or even jailed) for "smarting off" to police.
It's not illegal to "smart off" to the police. As long as I don't place my hands on that officer, it's their job to take it like a professional.
I don't know the victims of gun violence in Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, Cleveland, Los Angeles, New York or Atlanta. I don't know the names of all the victims of Black on whatever violence.
When Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) and many Democrats led off this showboating for a simple up and down vote on banning those on the "no fly list" to obtain firearms, you gracefully appeared on television denouncing them as glorified politicians who ignore their own respectful districts.
Let me get this straight: If you are willing to read off all the names of gun violence this year alone, I would probably take a very long time to give out the correct names. Mind you that gun violence is everyday.
Many of these gun crimes are usually committed by a person who knows someone.
Everyday a person is going to lose their life to a gun. Regardless of criminal or unintentional acts.
I don't hear you mention the astonishing amount of accidental deaths by firearms. A mother in your county was killed by her own son. A licensed firearm trainer in Loveland, Ohio was killed by a student who didn't know how to hold the trigger right. A woman who posted on social media about her love for guns was shot by her son and barely survived. A woman who murdered her neighbor in a feud was just nabbed by the feds.
These incidents managed to grab the attention but faded into the limelight.
Every time a mass shooting happens in the United States, you stand firm with the conservatives and White extremists in stopping gun control measures.
In the same breathe, you want to take away firearms from law abiding Blacks, Hispanics and Muslims.
You call Black suspects: Thugs.
You call Hispanic suspects: Illegal Immigrants.
You call Muslims suspects: Terrorists.
You call White suspects: Liberal Democrats.
All these labels aren't productive. It's deflection. You stand firm in deflecting the real issues facing not just Black America, the but the country as a whole.
GUN VIOLENCE. IT'S THE NUMBER ONE THREAT IN THE UNITED STATES.
Being a cop is a thankless job. You wake up everyday and put on the uniform of your jurisdiction to serve and protect the citizens of your community.
We thank all those who serve dutifully as members of law enforcement. You are certainly thanked for your job as Milwaukee County sheriff.
However, there's a problem with you.
You're too busy on Fox News or some conservative agitator's program bitching. You waste taxpayer money getting on this soapbox about how Black America is failed by policies that longed happened before we had Barack Obama elected as the president.
I seriously believe you're jealous of the president. You wish you could be him. Too bad, no sane Black person would ever elected you to a higher officer other than a sheriff.
I know President Barack Obama has a thick skin and doesn't really care what you think of him.
If I was him, I would say to my staff in the White House: "Who the hell is this carnival barker on television?"
If I was Obama, I would tell the junk food media any mention of your name is "I never heard of him".
Example: "David Clarke, sheriff of Milwaukee County. Never heard of him!"
The president ignores carnival barkers like you, Donald Trump, Matt Drudge, Rush Limbaugh and Softball Hannity.
You guys offer nothing to help America. All you do is bitch and bemoan about issues.
You can't save the world if you're on the sidelines bitching.
Get with the program, the Black community is tired of the sidelines. It's out in the open.
You want to stand against us. Fine.
But be aware of your position. The voters are noticing it. And sooner or later, you may be eventually a full time contributor to Fox News instead of the sheriff of Milwaukee County.
Yeah, I've denied it for years. I believe that Blacks are held to a higher standard when it comes to the law, jobs, government, activism, sports, and entertainment. It seems like I'm waking up to the reality that our country is failing on equal rights.
I am starting to realize that "high hopes" are just "wishful thinking".
White people are treated much differently than Blacks. From the jump, I should have seen it coming.
It's never too late to keep one eye open when it comes to understanding that the path to success is to overcome the standard.
The junk food media holds Black America to a higher standard than the rest. Go down the list of athletes, entertainers, politicians and activists. They have been roundly criticized for being either "too Black" or "not Black enough".
I seen it in Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, the Obama daughters, Ben Carson, Nicki Minaj, LaBron James, Drake, Serena Williams, Trevor Noah, Lil' Wayne, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Anthony Anderson, Chris Rock, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, DeRay McKesson, Shaun King, Tim Scott, Cory Booker, Cam Newton, Michael B. Jordan, Van Jones, Steve Harvey, Michael Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Melissa Harris-Perry.
The word vomit from the concern trolls is Blacks are lazy, immoral, and dependent on the government. The Republicans and their conservative allies concluded that the Democrats are responsible for the economic poverty and dependency on government. They're immune from taking fault for their incompetence.
These narratives that Blacks are like sheep to the Democratic Party are starting to irk me. I mean if the Republican Party would take their heads out their asses, the Black support would be more than 10%.
On CNN, I heard that extremist Jeffrey Lord go into this ridiculous narrative that the Klan is bunch of leftist Democrats. I thought the right always thought that the left played the race card.
Well for one thing, he's right. The Democrats of yesterday were the conservatives back then. The Republicans were actually liberal. Abraham Lincoln was the first Republican to win the presidency. His polices helped end the slavery but didn't stop discrimination and brutality towards African Americans. It took Harry Truman, a cautious Democrat and Lyndon B Johnson, the south's last president to integrate society. It was the Democratic Party that flipped the script on Black history.
If it wasn't for Johnson signing off the Civil Rights and Voting Rights acts, Blacks would still be segregated from Whites. Democrats mended their old ways. Under a liberal Supreme Court, interracial marriage would be legalized. Democrats offered Native Americans the opportunity to own land and sovereignty. After World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, the Democrats made good on their promise not to punish all Asian American for the acts of some. They would apologize for the callous acts of Franklin D. Roosevelt's executive orders to place Asians in interment camps.
For Pete's sake, the Democratic Party has nominated and the American people elected Barack Obama, the first African American to be the President of the United States, twice.
And yet, Donald Trump had called for President Barack Obama's birth certificate. And perennial loser Mitt Romney asked for his endorsement.
Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson claim that the Republican Party is the true party of racial equality. Yet, they look the other way when the Republicans pass restrictions on voting rights, a woman's right to chose, a loving same sex couple's right to marry and a parent's right to sue gun manufactures after a terrorist murders their loved ones with firearms.
They play concern trolls when Blacks are killing each other. They want to take away firearms from Blacks, Hispanics and Muslims. The Republicans have reacted to Blacks killing one another as a fault of Barack Obama's and not the shooters. They don't care about unregistered firearms being sold to the criminals and terrorists.
When Black America express concerns about police brutality, the conservative automatically assume that Blacks are threatening violence on police officers. Black America has real issues to deal with.
Unemployment, class warfare, gun crimes and drugs being sold into our communities has been an issue mentioned by the Democrats. But not enough issues mentioned by the Democrats.
This silly narrative that Donald Trump could pull 30% of the Black vote is highly unlikely. I mean just look how Trump threw out Black students in Alabama. Or how about Trump telling his supporters to push a Black woman out of a rally. Some of those supporters were White extremists.
Rubio says that he, Ted Cruz and Ben Carson being on stage is a sign of diversity. He said that being endorsed by Nikki Haley and Tim Scott shows the Republicans are the party of diversity.
One thing I managed to catch at the Republican debate is the comments by Marco Rubio. He said that the Republican Party is the most diverse party because they have two Hispanic lawmakers and a Black neurosurgeon on stage.
Given the possibility the party may nominate another old White guy, Rubio desperately played the race card at the CNN debate.
Republicans are struggling to win Hispanics and Black voters. Despite the Republican candidate's bold claims about the party being the most diverse, the party is also too damn conservative and too damn White.
Rubio, Cruz and Ben Carson make up about 10% of the Republican Party's diversity. The party is 90% WHITE and 10% EVERYTHING else.
The Republican Party is White like cocaine. They may have minorities in the party, but the policies and their rhetoric isn't diverse. It's pretty damn condescending and outright bigoted.
Donald Trump's rise could bring Blacks and Hispanics voters into the fold. Some are tempted to vote for the controversial media mogul.
I see Donald Trump as Arnold Schwarzenegger. He will bankroll on his celebrity status to win. His bombastic and witty charm woos conservatives and some Democrats.
Given the possibility of Trump winning the election is strong. I don't want to believe it, but it could happen if you don't help the Democrat win. Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders aren't strong contenders and it's going to be a bumpy road for the Democrats. Given Obama fatigue and an inspired Republican voter base, the Democrats got to win back voters.
It's likely a Democrat could beat the Republican nominee. But given the circumstances, it's going to be a TOSS UP.
Trump has tapped into the populist rage that fuels the anti-government resentment towards lawmakers.
John Kasich, Marco Rubio and even Ted Cruz are considered establishment. Cruz calls himself the best choice to take on Washington. But he's been in Washington for two years and haven't really accomplish much since. He's been more of a talker and not a doer. That's hurting him in the race.
Rubio is also the same. Rubio won on the wave of insurgency. He and Rand Paul were elected in 2010 and they been in the senate for most of their term doing absolutely nothing. Even the compromise to immigration reform that was sponsored by Rubio was voted down by him.
When it comes to diversity the Republican Party has a long way to go before it can truly be a diverse party.
Remember the Democratic Party nominated and the American people elected twice the first Black president.
The first Black U.S. Supreme Court justice was picked by a Democrat.
The first Hispanic woman to serve as a U.S. Supreme court justice was picked by a Democratic president who happens to be Black. The first Black man and woman were nominated and confirmed as the Attorney General of the United States.
The first woman as the Speaker of the House is a woman.
The current front runner in the race is a woman. Her opponent is the first Jewish candidate to run.
The Democratic Party's chairperson is a lawmaker who is a woman.
Under a Democratic President who happens to be Black, marriage equality is legal in the United States.
Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz as well as Donald Trump and John Kasich aren't friends of the Black and Hispanic communities. They're a bunch of myopic dicks.
Shout out to comedian/talk radio host John Fugelsang for also catching the Rubio-Bot self-destruct!
The resentment still exist in Ferguson. The Department of Justice sues the city for inept leadership.
The city of Ferguson is facing a federal lawsuit from the U.S. Justice Department. The city was to fix the systematic issues that fueled distrust among the residents and the city police.
The Michael Brown shooting became a national controversy. Brown who was unarmed was shot and killed by then Officer Darren Wilson. The law didn't handle the situation correctly and it led to a riot in the city. When Wilson didn't get indicted by the grand jury, it set off another riot within the city.
Wilson would soon resign and go into hiding. The junk food media polarized the situation. Many in the Black community found that Wilson willingly murdered an unarmed teen. They believed that he failed to use non lethal force and deliberately failed to activate his dash camera when he confronted Brow. The conservatives believe that Brown robbed a convenience store and tried to wrestle a firearm from a police officer. They believe the killing was justified.
Then Attorney General Eric Holder told the junk food media that the city had systematic profiling of residents. The city has a 62% Black population. He said that if he could he would dismantle the police force.
Now that the city rejected the proposals suggested by the Justice Department. Now, current U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch accused Ferguson of engaging in racially-driven policing and law enforcement "that violates the First, Fourth and 14th Amendments of the Constitution."
The Justice Department released a 56-page outline of many of the violations that plagued the Ferguson police.
Some of the most controversial things outlined in the lawsuit were including:
The lawsuit says Ferguson police officers "routinely prohibit people from recording police activity, and retaliate against those who do record.” In one instance from June 2014, a mother was arrested "ostensibly" for a traffic violation after she began videotaping her husband's arrest in front of their children and then continued to record from her car as the police vehicle drove off with her husband. "[N]obody videotapes me," the officer insisted.
Officers sometimes "offer no rationale at all for interfering with individuals’ right to record," the lawsuit alleges. In October 2013, one officer threatened to arrest a civilian who was taking a picture of the officer. "Do I not have the right to record?" the civilian asked. "No, you don’t," replied the officer, who then arrested the civilian for Failure to Comply.
Officers often use their authority to arrest people who use "offensive, but lawful, language" to criticize police conduct, according to the lawsuit.
The lawsuit says Ferguson officers conduct stops, issue citations and make arrests without legal justification. In October 2012, police officers pulled over an African-American man, claiming his passenger-side brake light was broken. The man had recently replaced the light, but the officers refused to let him show them it was working, instead issuing him a citation for "tail light/reflector/license plate light out." The man went to the police station that evening to show officers there that his brake light was working.
Ferguson officers engage in a pattern of searching individuals without legal justification, and this "disproportionately impacts African-Americans, who are searched at higher rates than others, but who have contraband found on them significantly less often than others," the lawsuit alleges.
The lawsuit says Ferguson police officers "routinely escalate encounters with individuals they perceive to be disobedient, and unreasonably use canines on unarmed subjects, including young juveniles." In December 2011, for example, a 14-year-old African-American boy was skipping school and waiting in an abandoned house for his friends. When officers arrived at the scene, the boy refused to come out. Even though officers had no reason to believe the boy might be armed, they deployed a canine to bite the boy, causing puncture wounds in his arm.
The lawsuit says the Ferguson court system "routinely" fails to provide residents who have received citations or summons with "adequate notice of the allegations made against them" or any "meaningful opportunity to be heard." Sometimes, such residents are provided wholly incorrect information about where and when their cases are being heard, according to the lawsuit. "They are often unable to determine how much is owed, where and how to pay the ticket, what the options for payment are, what rights the individual has, and what the consequences are for various actions or oversights," the lawsuit alleges.
Similarly, Ferguson residents who have been arrested "are sometimes not provided clear information regarding the charges against them," and the court's bond procedures "are arbitrary and confusing."
Attorney General Loretta Lynch went hard on the city of Ferguson.
Prosecutors fail to disclose information that could help defendants fighting the charges against them, "despite the constitutional duty to disclose such evidence," the lawsuit says. In some cases, defendants have not been told that the Ferguson officer testifying in the case against them "was previously found to be untruthful during an official [Ferguson police] investigation," according to the lawsuit.
Overall, the lawsuit says, these practices “disproportionately harm African-Americans,” and they “are not the necessary or unavoidable results of legitimate public safety efforts.”
“Rather, the disproportionate harm to African-Americans stems, at least in part, from racial bias, including racial stereotyping,” the lawsuit alleges.
The Justice Department decided to file the lawsuit after Ferguson’s City Council Tuesday night rejected a long-negotiated deal to overhaul the police department and court system. In explaining its decision, the council cited the enormous cost to the city to make some of the proposed changes.
"Our goal was always to reach an agreement that we can implement and sustain with the resources we have in this small town," one councilman said after hearing of the lawsuit. "We accepted just about everything that was asked us and spent a lot of time trying to get this [deal] to work within our limited means, and in the end they didn't care at all whether we could actually accomplish what's in the agreement as long as we just signed it."
Located in Xenia Township, Ohio in the census designated town of Wilberforce is two historically Black universities are on the verge of fiscal and educational disaster.
Central State University is facing fiscal programs.
Wilberforce University established in 1856 is facing not only fiscal programs but the loss of educational accreditation.
Students and facility are pretty damn pissed about the conditions of the institution. They wanted to protest the ungodly conditions and call for the cannon to fire. In that cannon, comes the president, and head student facilities manager. Students want them fired out the cannon.
The student enrollment has dropped over 15% from the last decade and it seems like nothing is changing.
Wilberforce University is trying to plug the leaks. Because if the Ohio Department of Education repeals the school's academic standings, it's toast. It will be doomed and it will likely close.
Algeania Freeman is hoping that Wilberforce will keep its glory intact despite calls for her to bounce.
The two previous presidents were disastrous. Floyd Flake and Patricia Hardaway didn't give two about the college. They spent money on their friends and allowed the university to fall apart.
Central State University is about 1/4 mile down the road. It became a college in the 1887 and has a top ranked NCAA-II football team and famous marching band.
Both that could all be wiped away when the budget comes out.
The Ohio Board of Regents and State Auditor put CSU on fiscal watch. It's in danger of being taken over by the state. It has 90 days to get its act in order.
Central State University is located in Wilberforce, Ohio about 35 miles from Dayton.
CSU president Dr. Cynthia Jackson-Hammond is dismissing the possibility and is working on trying to keep the university above the water.
In a press release statement:
“Central State University is aggressively working to improve the University’s financial balance as we recruit and retain more college-ready Ohio students. Over the past two years (FY 2013 & FY 2014), independent, external audits have confirmed sound accounting practices. Those audits contained “no qualifications,” which indicate that this institution is fiscally sound and implements quality standards of its fiscal operations. The major contributor to the decrease in Central State’s Senate Bill 6 composite score is the decline in student enrollment, which is evident at many colleges across the nation. Although the University receives on average 5,500 applications a year, many of these high potential students are plagued by their limited ability to meet the parental/family contributions required by the Federal Pell Grant Program Changes to the Federal Pell Grant Program and also the Parent Plus Loan have negatively impacted college affordability for first-generation college students. Tuition and fees represent 46 percent of the University’s revenue streams annually; thus, there is a direct correlation between student enrollment and retention and university revenue.”
CSU has seen a decrease larger than Wilberforce. It had a drop 30% in registered students.
Both are Black historical colleges. Wilberforce University is oldest institution in country.
Wilberforce University is a private, coed, liberal arts historically black university (HBCU) located in Wilberforce, Ohio. Affiliated with the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, it was the first college to be owned and operated by African Americans. It participates in the United Negro College Fund. It's a private university.
Central State University, commonly referred to as CSU, is a historically black university (HBCU) located in Wilberforce, Ohio, United States. Central State University is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. It's a public university.
Established by the state legislature in 1887 as a two-year program for normal (teacher) and industrial training, it was originally located with Wilberforce University, a four-year institution devoted to classical academic education. In 1941 the college gained a four-year curriculum, independent status in 1947, and was renamed as Central State College in 1951. With further development, it gained university status in 1965. In 2014, Central State University received designation as an 1890 Land-Grant Institution.
About damn time. The Senate confirms U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
We can finally have a replacement. Eric Holder will finally retire. Holder was a scourge of the Republicans and his departure will not be missed among them.
Republicans now will have a new scourge. The first Black woman to be appointed the U.S. Attorney General is confirmed finally after 5 months of waiting. With partisan trickery, Mitch The Majority Turtle (R-KY) finally got the ball rolling on this.
Over 166 days. A damn shame.
But in the minds of Republicans, it's payback.
Then majority leader Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) pushed the nuclear option. It ended the filibuster rule when it came to nominees who were stalled by senators who refused to vote on confirmation.
He tried to do a gesture of goodwill by allowing the new Congress to take up the Lynch vote. He made a grave mistake.
What will the Majority Leader stall next?
The Turtle vowed to get back at the president and Reid by stalling legislation and nominees. He knows that in the few years left of President Barack Obama's term, more controversial bills, a federal judge appointment or Supreme Court justice could become an issue. He'll run the clock out at his own peril.
Lynch was a relatively safe choice. But to the racist right, she's a radical Black racist.
Lynch was confirmed by the Senate by a 56-43 vote, making her the first African-American woman to serve in this position.
Despite the partisan bitching from the agitators, Lynch did sail through the needed votes.
Nine Republicans and the Turtle finally got Lynch confirmed.
Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH)
Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH)
Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL)
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ)
Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS)
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME)
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
Now who's up for reelection are Ayotte, Kirk, Johnson and Portman. They are going to be top priority for the Democrats. The Democrats have a chance in Illinois and Wisconsin. But the other two are going to be pretty damn difficult.
The whining began when Lynch agreed with the president over his executive order. The executive order was to grant illegal immigrants living in the country for five years to get a reprieve.
Those three nitwits (aka The Stallmigos) along with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) voted against Lynch.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) either voted against or didn't show up for the vote. Worthless politicos.
Can't wait to see what happens if one of these nitwits become president. The Democrats are going to make them suffer.
Adam Gadahn was killed in a drone strike in Pakistan. His death marks a blow to al Qaeda. The American born extremist was an unlikely target. But in the quest to capture him, the U.S. admits two civilians died in this.
The news is that American born al Qaeda terrorists were killed in a CIA-drone strike in Pakistan. In the causalities, comes an American and Italian humanitarian workers.
President Barack Obama announced the capture of American led al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn and Ahmed Farouq were killed in separate drone strikes. But that drone strike led to the deaths of innocent civilians.
The president acknowledged failure on his part and he wants to get to the bottom of the reckless call.
Ahmed Farouq was killed in drone strkie.
A great day in the fight against extremism but unfortunately a debate into targeted killings, Americans being targeted in the fight against terrorism and habeas corpus.
The White House said that Warren Weinstein, an American held by al Qaeda since 2011, and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian held since 2012, were killed in a January operation in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The operation targeted an al Qaeda-associated compound and there was no reason to believe either hostage was present, the White House said.
The White House said Farouq and Gadhan were not specifically targeted in the operations, nor did the U.S. have information indicating their presence at the sites.
President Barack Obama was to appear in the White House briefing room at mid morning to make a statement on the incidents.
The White House said Obama takes "full responsibility for these operations and believes it is important to provide the American people with as much information as possible about our counterterrorism operations, particularly when they take the lives of fellow citizens. "
The White House said that while it believes the operations were lawful, the U.S. is conducting an independent review to understand what happened.
The White House released a statement Thursday morning:
It is with tremendous sorrow that we recently concluded that a U.S. Government counterterrorism operation in January killed two innocent hostages held by al-Qa’ida. Our hearts go out to the families of Dr. Warren Weinstein, an American held by al-Qa’ida since 2011, and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian national who had been an al-Qa’ida hostage since 2012. Analysis of all available information has led the Intelligence Community to judge with high confidence that the operation accidentally killed both hostages. The operation targeted an al-Qa’ida-associated compound, where we had no reason to believe either hostage was present, located in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan. No words can fully express our regret over this terrible tragedy.
Obama noted he had spoken with both Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi and the wife of Weinstein about the deaths.
The CIA and President Barack Obama confirms that two Western hostages were killed in their pursuit of Adam Gadahn.
"As a husband and as a father, I cannot begin to imagine the anguish that the Weinstein and Lo Porto families are feeling today," Obama said.
"I know there's nothing I can ever say or do to ease their heartache," he added.
Two other Americans who were working with al Qaeda were also recently killed in the same region, according to the White House. Ahmed Farouq, an American who was an al Qaeda leader, was killed in the same operation that took the lives of Weinstein and Lo Porto, while American Adam Gadahn, a member of al Qaeda, was killed in a separate operation in January. The White House said the two were not specifically targeted and counterterrorism officials "did not have information indicating their presence at the sites of these operations."
The Wall Street Journal reports this is the first known instance in which the U.S. has accidentally killed hostages in a drone strike.
"No words can fully express our regret over this terrible tragedy," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
Obama defended U.S. counterterrorism operations in his remarks Thursday, saying the strikes occurred after "hundreds of hours of surveillance" had been conducted. He noted "it is a cruel and bitter truth that in the fog of war generally, and in our fight against terrorists specifically, mistakes...can occur."
President Barack Obama is not happy about today's news that an al Qaeda operative was put down at the cost of two innocent lives.
After Obama gave his remarks, Weinstein's wife released a statement on behalf of the family condemning the "cowardly actions of those who took Warren captive" and expressing disappointment in the U.S. government.
“I want to thank Congressman John Delaney, Senator Barbara Mikulski, and Senator Ben Cardin – as well as specific officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation – for their relentless efforts to free my husband.” Elaine Weinstein said. “Unfortunately, the assistance we received from other elements of the U.S. Government was inconsistent and disappointing over the course of three and a half years. We hope that my husband’s death and the others who have faced similar tragedies in recent months will finally prompt the U.S. Government to take its responsibilities seriously and establish a coordinated and consistent approach to supporting hostages and their families.”
We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to Warren Weinstein and Giovanni Lo Porto.
We don't advocate extremism. But to get an understanding of Gadahn, watch him explain his mission to fight against the United States. He demands that Muslims take arms and fight. Even in his death, he spoke of more strategic attacks.
Adam Yahiye Gadahn (Arabic: آدم يحيى غدن, Ādam Yaḥyā Ghadan; September 1, 1978 – January 2015) was an American senior operative, cultural interpreter, spokesman and media advisor for the Islamist group al-Qaeda. Since 2004, he had appeared in a number of videos produced by al-Qaeda as "Azzam the American."
Gadahn, who converted to Islam in 1995 at a California mosque, was described as "homegrown," meaning that he had converted to an ideology so firmly that he was willing to harm his country of origin.
American intelligence officials allege that he inspired the 2007 Osama bin Laden video.
In 2004, he was added to the FBI Seeking Information – War on Terrorism list. On October 11, 2006 he was removed from that list, and placed on the Bureau of Diplomatic Security Rewards for Justice Program list of wanted criminals. On the same day, Gadahn was indicted based on the testimony of the FBI case agent E. J. Hilbert II, in the Southern Division of the United States District Court for the Central District of California by a federal grand jury for the capital crime of treason for aiding an enemy of the United States, i.e., al-Qaeda.
A southeastern Missouri town becomes national news after a majority of the city quits after they elected a Black woman as their mayor.
Out you go. About 80% of the city of Parma, Missouri's police force quit. They claim it's not the new mayor but it's their safety.
Tyrus Byrd, a former city clerk, was officially sworn in as mayor on Tuesday after beating incumbent Randall Ramsey. Ramsey had served as mayor of Parma for 37 years under two terms.
They claim their resignation comes in regards to "safety" and not the fact of race.
The city manager, the attorney, water sanitation operator joined the cops in submitting their resignation.
The racial makeup of the city was 67.46% White, 29.45% Black or African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.56% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, 1.12% from other races, and 1.26% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.81% of the population.
According to the city mayor Tyrus Byrd, she is moving forward. After the cameras stop rolling, I bet you that she's probably pissed that this event happened.
The mayor is a Black woman.
Some say they're not worried about their safety and it wasn't necessary to have that many on staff for a city the size of Parma.
Some say they're relieved about the situation and that Parma doesn't have that many problems in town to require so many officers.
“I think it was pretty dirty the way they all quit without giving her a chance, but I don't think they hurt the town with quitting because who needs six police for 740 people?” said Martha Miller of Parma.
Tyrus Byrd got handed a controversy on her first day.
As for why the police and two city employees resigned, Mayor Tyrus Byrd is still trying to figure that out.
The resignation letter could not be found, according to Mayor Byrd.
"They say we have six cops on the payroll. How can we have six cops and we go days without cops patrolling and we have these recent break-ins?” asked one Parma resident.
"We needed somebody young and energetic to help our town and that is what we need,” said one Parma resident.
She said she is receiving outside help from other communities and folks are reaching out to help their town rebound.
Some residents agree the city needs it.
"Just ready to get the town back to the way it was, back to the flow of business,” said another Parma resident.
The mayor said her experience as city clerk years ago will help.
As for when the vacant positions will be filled, it's unclear at this time.
Freddie Gray was injured after a confrontation with Baltimore Police. The city's mayor and police commissioner are trying to calm the controversy by demanding an investigation into this. Gray died of his injuries. The Department of Justice is looking into this.
These are not isolated incidents. This is a growing situation in which men of color are being killed by police. The perception of mistrust continues to grow. The Black and Latino communities have a strong mistrust of law enforcement. In the wake of five high profile shootings, one could think that this is not just isolated incidents by rogue cops. It's a systematic thought. Most in law enforcement believe that Black men, Latino men, worshiping Muslims and illegal immigrants are naturally born criminals. The agitators of the junk food media are quick to judge perception of Black men as criminals or victims of societal ills. The Department of Justice is already investigating allegations of police brutality in the Baltimore Metropolitan Police. Police are doing damage control after four officers handcuffed a man who was severely injured. See if it wasn't for them pesky camera phones, the law can lie and say that the suspect put up a fight with officers. The not so good officers could plant evidence on an unarmed suspect and the law will release statements to the junk food media to paint the suspect as a no good criminal. The agitators will turn it into a political fray and the keyboard warriors will word vomit opinions that most commonly found to be extreme. Freddie Gray, 25 according to the law was in an area that is known for drug activity. Yada, yada, yada! I don't buy that excuse. Only a court order can tell a man not to be in an area. Just because a cop sees you in a drug activity zone, doesn't mean they have the right to search you or apprehend you without probable cause. That means, a cop can't arrest you because you're exiting a house they're observing for alleged drug activity. If the officer stops and questions you, you have a right to remain silent and the only thing you are advocating is your name. The young man who the law apprehended was a low level suspect. He was unarmed. But somehow, the officers had to restrain him. The man was injured at the neck (by a spinal fracture around his neck) and died over the weekend. We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Freddie Gray.
BlackLivesMatter protest in Baltimore.
Gray died a week after he suffered a broken vertabra after being arrested near Gilmor Homes in Sandtown-Winchester.
Police have not given a cause for Gray's injuries or specified why he was arrested, citing an investigation into the incident. Officials are expected to look into any criminal conduct by Gray and whether criminal charges against officers are warranted.
As a family attorney raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Gray's death, his stepfather, Richard Shipley, said relatives were too distraught to talk.
"He's gone," Shipley said. "What else is there to say?"
The Baltimore Sun reports that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts demand an investigation to what happened. They are committed to providing the public with information about the circumstances of Gray's death.
"I understand the frustration of the community and I take very seriously my obligation of transparency," Rawlings-Blake said. "However we also have to balance that with our obligation to ensure a proper and thorough investigation is undertaken. Therefore we have to move forward in a responsible way to determine all the facts of this incident so that we can provide the community with answers."
More than 100 protesters have gathered for two days outside the Western District station, demanding answers about what happened to Gray.
William "Billy" Murphy Jr., a lawyer for Gray's family, contradicted a Police Department timeline of the arrest, which said medics were called to the Western District station 30 minutes after the police van carrying Gray left the scene. Murphy said he has information indicating Gray was at the police station for an hour before medics were called.
"What we know is that while in police custody for committing no crime — for which they had no justification for making the arrest except he was a black man running — his spine was virtually severed, 80 percent severed, in the neck area," Murphy said. He called Gray's injuries "catastrophic."
Murphy said Gray "lapsed into a coma, died, was resuscitated, stayed in a coma and on Monday, underwent extensive surgery at Shock Trauma. "He clung to life for seven days," he said.
The attorney also said that the city has a camera above where the arrest occurred and requested that the footage be released to the public.
"We believe the police are keeping the circumstances of Freddie's death secret until they develop a version of events that will absolve them of all responsibility," Murphy said. "However, his family and the citizens of Baltimore deserve to know the real truth; and we will not stop until we get justice for Freddie."
Four bicycle officers tried to stop Gray about 9 a.m. on April 12 in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. for an alleged violation that police have not disclosed. He ran, police said, and the officers caught him and restrained him on the ground while awaiting backup.
Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is the mayor of Baltimore. She promises a credible investigation.
According to the police timeline, he was conscious and speaking when he was loaded into a van to be taken to the district station. Medics were called to the station, and he was taken to an area hospital, police said.
From the video, I heard Freddie screaming in pain. I see officers drag him to the police van. I see him with his head down in a way like his neck may have been broken. And you happen to notice picture of the cops lifting Freddie! It looks like they got him from a brick fence. Did the cops slam him near the bricks and snap his neck?
Deputy Commissioner Jerry Rodriguez said police have interviewed community members and some officers involved in the incident. He declined to provide more details, citing the need to make sure the investigation is not compromised.
Explanation of what prompted the arrest, remains "a bit vague," according to Rodriguez. He said that officers in a high-crime area with drug problems suspected Gray was "immediately involved or had been recently involved in criminal activity."
From the earlier statement I stated, a cop can't judge a man by the area. He can't just stop a person because he sees him in an area that has drug activity. The judge can order a person to not be in an area. Not the police. You have a right to be in any area of your choosing.
Rodriguez said police "have no physical, video or any other evidence of an altercation" that would result in Gray's injuries.
"The question is how and why, and more importantly if there is anything contributory from our agency, how can we prevent that?" he said. "We're not there yet but we will get there."
Police are assembling a task force to review the incident, expected to include personnel across a range of departments, including training and lab prep personnel, as well as teams from homicide investigators and force investigation, Batts said.
The police drag a screaming Freddie Gray to the van. It was caught on camera.
An independent board also will review the administrative case against the officers, after State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby decides whether or not to file criminal charges and that case concludes. A spokeswoman for Mosby could not be reached Sunday.
Rawlings-Blake spokesman Kevin Harris said he does not know yet who will serve on the independent review board, which officials referred to as a "blue-ribbon" panel.
Officers involved have been placed on administrative leave as a matter of department policy.
In a statement posted to Twitter, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 3, Baltimore's police union, asked for "no rush to judgment until the investigation is complete and all the facts are known."
"We thank Mayor Rawlings-Blake and Commissioner Batts for their leadership and welcome a thorough and complete investigation into the death of Mr. Gray, as we also agree that all lives matter," the union said.
Gray's family has declined to meet with police so far, Batts said. Police intend to try again this week.
"I extend my deepest sympathies to his family. I have no words to offer that will ease the pain that has resulted," Batts said.
"All lives matter," he added, in a nod to the "Black Lives Matter" mantra shouted at protests across the country in response to recent police brutality incidents.
The Wire is a show that was based off the works of the Baltimore Metropolitan Police.
Each season of The Wire introduces a different institution in the city of Baltimore. In chronological order they are: the illegal drug trade, the seaport system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the print news media, while continuing on characters/plots from previous seasons. The large cast consists mainly of character actors who are little known for their other roles, as well as numerous guest and recurring appearances by real-life Baltimore and Maryland figures. Simon has said that despite its presentation as a crime drama, the show is "really about the American city, and about how we live together. It's about how institutions have an effect on individuals. Whether one is a cop, a longshoreman, a drug dealer, a politician, a judge or a lawyer, all are ultimately compromised and must contend with whatever institution to which they are committed."
Despite receiving only average ratings and never winning major television awards, The Wire has been described by many critics as one of the greatest TV dramas of all time.
The show is recognized for its realistic portrayal of urban life, its literary thematics, and its uncommonly deep exploration of social and political themes.
Dash cam shows Walter Scott running and about a few minutes in, he's dead.
The city of North Charleston, SC sits around Interstate 26 and its spur Interstate 526. It's a suburb of Charleston.
The city is located about 110 miles from Columbia, South Carolina. It's a community that has minority-majority population. But there's a real problem here. The police is a majority White.
But that's not the issue. The issue is what happened last weekend. The junk food media and the partisan agitators are trying to dissect the controversial video of its former officer Michael Slager shooting an unarmed motorist.
The motorist is Walter Scott. He was a 50 year old man with minor criminal history (i.e. child support, and traffic violations).
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the U.S. Justice Department releases the dash cam video of Slager pulling over Scott.
Slager approaches the vehicle.
Scott was a runner and Slager went after him. And after the chase comes the shooting. That's where the witness comes in. The witness whipped out the camera phone and here we are.
The conservative agitators can't say that Walter deserved his fate. I mean running from the law merits a taser or physical restraint. But the reckless decision to shoot Scott and then claim he touched the service weapon didn't stick when the witness gave the video to the family and the press.
Now Rev. Perm and that annoying agitator will debate the issues. Of course the agitators will ask President Barack Obama how he feels about this.
The president can relate to the Black community. After all, Barack Obama is Black. He knows that Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin's deaths sparked a movement.
The BlackLivesMatter movement started after the acquittal of the killer of Trayvon Martin and received fresh impetus from the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown. The movement has received worldwide media attention due to its massive scope and ongoing existence. Protesters and protest organizers have met with President Obama and other prominent leaders to demand an end to police brutality, mass incarceration, and demilitarization of many US police departments.
A tragedy in Maryland over the week advocates the need for families to have carbon monoxide detectors and proper training with devices that emits the odorless, colorless and tasteless gas.
A family of eight died on Maryland's eastern shore leaving a town and nation in mourning.
The father and his seven children died in their sleep. Other family members did a welfare chceck on them after failed contact. I guess they walked on the shocking discovery.
Apparently Somerset County police are trying to piece together how this tragedy happened.
Unfortunately, the family made the claim that the power company is partially at fault. They cut the power off and Rodney Todd had no choice but to use a power generator. That power generator wasn't placed in an area that was well ventilated. The generator was malfunctioning and carbon monoxide creep in.
The family was asleep. No one expected the gas to be silent and extremely deadly.
The Todd children died in a CO poisoning.
School officials are offering counseling to friends and family. 15 year old, Tyjuziana Todd, who along with her six siblings were killed. Tyjuziana attended Washington High; Cameron, 13, and Tykeria, 12, attended Somerset Intermediate; and Tynijuzia, 10; Tyniah, 9; Zhiheem, 7; and Tyberyia, 6, attended Princess Anne Elementary.
"We had a few staff members who had a hard time coming to terms with what happened," Hankerson said Wednesday. "For some it was rough. They had to leave the room and gather composure, especially when it came to class time."
The Baltimore Sun reports that Todd's supervisor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore — where Todd worked in dining services — grew concerned because he had not talked to him since March 28. Inside, they found all eight family members dead. It appeared that they had gone to sleep for the night and never awakened, police said.
Police found a generator with an empty gas tank inside the home. Lloyd Edwards said his stepson used the generator because the electricity had been shut off.
Delmarva Power said the home had been without service since March 25, when workers discovered a stolen electric meter and shut off power for "safety reasons." The utility originally disconnected power there in October, before the Todds began renting the home, and Delmarva said no request had been made to reconnect service.
The Maryland power company that covers the area claims that Todd stole electricity. They found a power box they claim was malfunctioning and they've determined it to be stolen. So they cut the power off but deny any fault to the family's death.
Todd was struggling father. Couldn't Delmarva offer incentives to assist struggling customers pay their electricity?
Police said Wednesday that they were winding down their investigation after the medical examiner determined that the deaths were accidental.
Somerset County Commissioner Craig N. Mathies Sr., whose district includes the Todds' modest, yellow-siding-covered home on Antioch Avenue, said of the children's father: "I know he was trying to provide for them, but that's putting your family in extreme danger.
"It's just a sad sad change of events," Mathies said. "It really points to the fact that our society can go all around the world and we have so many people who are in need, people who are trying to provide for their families and you have a tragedy like this."
Family members said they were making funeral arrangements.
"We had a lot of church members come to the home last night, family members and friends," said Edwards, Todd's stepfather. "A gathering of people sitting back and talking, expressing condolences. Some stayed four or five hours."
The funeral for Todd and his children will be held April 18 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Viewing is at 10 a.m. and services are at 1 p.m. at the Ella Fitzgerald Center for the Performing Arts.
We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the Todd family. Precious lives were lost in this senseless tragedy.
Rest in peace Rodney, Tyjuziana, Cameron, Tykeria, Tynijuzia, Tyniah, Zhiheem, and Tyberyia.
Obviously he didn't think he would put a corrupt cop in the county lockup. Feidin Santana got his camera phone out and filmed a North Charleston police officer open fire on an unarmed suspect. The officer could get LIFE or the GAS if the state charges of murder stick.
He didn't want the media to drag Walter Scott's name in the mud like they've done to Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown. The racist right would have certainly took Scott's name and turn it into a political football. The racist right would advocate President Barack Obama, Rev. Perm, Attorney General Eric Holder (and eventual replacement Loretta Lynch), NAACP, and the so-called liberal media as enablers of racial unrest.
Feiden Santana would have ignored the commotion. He knew that all the noise that morning had to be something worth filming. He whipped out his camera phone and recorded former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager engage in contact with Walter.
His video would film Walter escaping a taser shot at him. He would see Slager draw his service weapon. Slager would empty that service weapon and down goes Walter.
This video become national news after Feiden took it to the New York Times.
If he would have taken it to the cops, he probably would have been arrested. They would say that he was impeding on an arresting officer. They would destroy the video or alter the video. They would release to the public segments of it. The junk food media agitators (i.e. the folks of Loserville) will run loops of the video to make the cop look like the good guy.
The racist right websites would find some "evidence" of criminal behavior from the unarmed suspect.
Maybe they would have found Walter smoking a blunt. Walter giving the bird on camera. Maybe he was holding a firearm in his basement. They would have made it all about the Walter and not Slager.
Feiden feared the police retaliation. Most Black folks fear that filming police could get them arrested.
If there weren't people so frustrated with the police in the wake of high profile shootings such as the Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, John Crawford and Akai Gurley controversies, you wouldn't see camera phones being used.
And to make this clear, you are allowed to film police. They may try to "justify" an arrest by saying you're impeding on an arresting officer or disorderly conduct. You can lawyer up and tell the judge that you had a right to film public servants while on duty.
YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO FILM THE POLICE!
"I remember the police had control of the situation," Santana said during the interview (above). "You can hear the sound of a Taser... I believe [Scott] was just trying to get away from the Taser."
Slager was reporting that he had to empty the service weapon after Walter tried to take his taser. According to the police report, he said that Walter was the aggressor. The North Charleston police were going to run with the officer's side of the story.
Feiden was also filming the corrupt officer dropping evidence on a dead body.
Kind of odd, that an officer would drop evidence on the suspect if the report says that he reached for a service unit of the arresting officer!
The Boston Marathon bomber Dzohkar Tsarnaev was found guilty of capital murder.
Two years ago, two men wanted to cause mass destruction and death at the Boston Marathon. These two men placed pressure cooker explosives near the finish line. The bombs went off around 2:45pm and 2:53pm.
The bombs exploded. The impact killed three and injured hundreds of people. Krystle Marie Campbell, 29, Lu Lingzi 23, a Chinese national and Boston University graduate student from Shenyang, Liaoning; and Martin William Richard, an eight-year-old lost their lives.
The suspects placed the bomb close to little Martin.
The suspects were Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev. These two men who lived in Cambridge were immigrants from Chechen region of Russia.
They were spotted on cameras placing the devices. They ran from the scene.
Within the night, they carjacked a man who was heading to work.
They stopped at a gas station to fill up. The man escaped and told the attendant that he was carjacked. The attendant notified the law.
A campus police officer from MIT was nearby. The officer spotted them in the area. As he approached the vehicle, Tamerlan jumped out and put the slugs in him. The MIT officer Sean A. Collier was killed immediately.
After they bucked the MIT officer. The law started to close in.
Tamerlan decided to go out with a bang. He and Dzhokar went into a firefight with the law.
Tamerlan got served a lead sandwich. He would die in the firefight. Dzhokar was injured.
It took about 15 hours to locate Dzhokar hiding in a man's backyard underneath a boat.
These two had the whole Boston metro area on high concern. They thought that they could cause an act of terrorism. They thought they could get away with murder.
Tamerlan and Dzhokar Tsarnaev were spotted with the backpacks. Inside them were bombs.
Well that proved to be wrong.
Tamerlan met justice in a hail of fire.
Dzhokar met justice at the hands of a federal grand jury.
Today, the surviving bomber was found guilty on all charges of conspiracy, capital murder (police officer and three bombing victims), and using a weapon of mass destruction.
The 21 year old man who's life is in the hands of a jury could face the GAS or LIFE in federal time out.
The experts considered this an act of terrorism. They were upset over the U.S. intervention in Muslim countries. This event was considered one of the worst post 9/11.
Police officer off the force and in county lockup. He shot a fleeing suspect in the back and tried to plant evidence. He may have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for them witnesses and those damn camera phones.
Damn, this is getting worse.
Everyone knows that getting a traffic citation sucks. Some believe that the cops are picking on you because you did everything right, but according to the officer, you done an infraction.
Did you know that cops can lie to make an arrest?
Yes. They can and will do so.
The law can lie to justify a pull over, a citation, an arrest or use of force by service weapon or physical restraint.
Evidence drop.
Police brutality is an ongoing issue. Black and Latino men are often looked upon as natural born criminals in the minds of the racist right and the law. About 38% of Black men and 40% Hispanic men all aged 18 - 39 have been pulled over by the law.
The North Charleston Police are doing some major damage control after one of their officers decided to put eight slugs in an unarmed man. It would have been the officer walking free if it wasn't for a witness who filmed the whole ordeal.
The officer who fired on 50 year old Walter Scott of North Carolina is being charged with murder.
He pulled over Scott in his Mercedes Benz. The officer claimed that the suspect was reaching for his taser. The officer was caught firing his service weapon at the suspect fleeing. Then apparently the officer may have tried to plant evidence on the suspect after he was down on the ground.
Corrupt cop Michael Slager got locked up for emptying his firearm on the unarmed Walter Scott.
Michael Slager, 33 was seen shooting the suspect after a confrontation. He didn't realize that a witness was watching the whole ordeal. The officer chases Scott and then fires on him.
Slager and his lawyer claimed that Scott reached for his gun and he felt threatened by the suspect.
But the video contradicts his claim.
Now I am waiting on that bullshit peddler Matt Drudge, the annoying conservative agitator Sean Hannity, racial asshat Colin Flaherty, and smear merchant Charles C. Johnson to slander Scott's name.
The confrontation started when Slager had reportedly pulled over Scott because of a taillight violation. The officer claimed that the taillight was broken. Scott was issued a warrant for child support.
Scott was being chased by Slager in a grassy lot. Slager claimed that he fired his taser on the suspect to restrain him.
Moments later, there's Slager calling dispatch for backup after he reported shots were fired.
Walter Scott had petty criminal charges. It didn't merit in murder.
In parts of the video you see Slager planting the taser next to a nearly lifeless body.
Other claims stated that officers performed CPR and delivered medical aid to Scott, but the video shows that Scott was face down with handcuffs on him. Apparently over 10 minutes pass the first firing. One officer gave aid but didn't do CPR.
Scott had been charged for being a "broke baby daddy".
Conservatives go to town. A man who has multiple children and can't pay for them. He's a "gubmint handout" right? He was the father of four children and didn't have a criminal record for violence.
He was about to get married says the Scott family attorney.
Now in lockup, Slager could face either LIFE in the iron college or perhaps the GAS.
Now I am wondering if FRED 101 or FartDown will find some excuse to denounce this.
FRED 101 are you going to find some excuse to say that Walter Scott caused his own death?
We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Walter Scott.
Actress Taraji P Henson had to own up to the Glendale Police after she accused them of rousing her son.
Taraji P Henson is on fire. Her breakout role as Cookie Lyon in the hit series Empire has made her a household name.
Henson's rise to fame came from the her feature role in Hustle & Flow, with fellow actor Terrance Howard. They both are the stars of the Lee Daniels' musical drama.
Henson is also a mother. Her son is always a top priority. Henson praises her son regardless.
But something came into the news this past week and it's sparked some major controversy.
Henson claimed that her 20 year old son (Marcel Johnson) had been racially profiled by police and that his car had been illegally searched during a traffic stop on October 18, 2014 in Glendale, California.
In the beginning, Henson felt the law was harassing her son for being Black. Her son dropped out of the University of Southern California to attend Howard in her hometown of Washington, DC.
Henson told the junk food media, that who could you trust in this world, if a young Black man minding his business is harassed by the police.
Well the folks over at the Los Angeles Times wanted to obtain proof of this incident. They got some proof and then some.
A video obtained by the Times showed that Johnson had driven through a lighted crosswalk while a pedestrian was crossing, that he had given verbal consent to search his vehicle, that he had admitted to smoking marijuana two hours before going behind the wheel, and that hash oil, marijuana, and a knife were found inside his car.
Henson immediately suspended her social media profiles. She went on to apologize for overreacting and for making unsubstantiated claims, Henson said in an Instagram message that, "A mother's job is not easy and neither is a police officer's. I would like to publicly apologize to the officer and the Glendale Police Department."
Henson's apology was heartfelt. But unfortunately to the racist right, they will continue to denounce the BlackLivesMatter movement. They will now attack her for sparking "racial outrage" over nothing.
The racist right will place her in the box where they often hold President Barack Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, Rev. Perm and Cut His Nut Off Jackson in.
Floyd Dent was taken down by three officers. He was beaten and tasered. He was charged with cocaine possession and resisting arrest. He denies that he done wrong. He says he was set up.
The Michigan Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Justice Department are going to look into the brutal police beating of Floyd Dent, of Detroit.
Dent was arrested in January in the suburb of Inkster. He was held on the charges of cocaine possession, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer. All these charges could carry over 10 years in the iron college.
But the 57 year old Michigan man is denying that he's done such things. He believes that he was set up by the law and according to some, it seems like it may be the case.
Yeah, Dent was a motorist with a suspended license. That's a minor misdemeanor. Punishable act may results in fines and at least a year in the iron college.
This will be the first thing that our friends on the racist right will justify for the arrest and brutal beating.
According to the law, they observe him leaving an area that's known for drug activity. They saw him make an illegal stop and pulled him over. You have a right as a motorist to be in any area as you please. The law can't deny you a right to be in area because of assumption of drug activity.
The video shows Dent being stopped by the law. According to the law, Dent was struggling, shouting offensive language, and biting at the officers.
The law can liewhen they can justify a pull over, a citation, an arrest, or a discharge of their service weapon and use of physical restraint.
The Supreme Court has given them "pass" on lying.
Not truly being a pass, but say if the law was doing a sting operation in which vice cops pose as prostitutes or johns, they can lie. They can allow a suspect to enter a place or vehicle and coach them into committing an act of crime.
So what are you into tonight? If you're willing to party I got the cash. The suspect will say the questions? Are you a police officer. Say if the law says he's not a cop, trust me. That's a lie. They are allowed to make that case in order to arrest the suspect.
So why is this important in a court case?
Police can't enter a home without a judge issuing a warrant. They can enter if they smell the smoke of marijuana or notice an odor that appears suspicious. They can't not enter a vehicle without probable cause. Say if you're allegedly under the influence and they observe behavior of a motorist. The police have a right to justify a pull over to see if the motorist is under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. The police can enter a vehicle if they observe a solicitation of drugs or prostitution. That's in regards of public safety for suspicious odors or potential threats.
Inkster PVC Dodge Charger.
AGAIN: The law can lie to justify a pull over, a citation, an arrest or use of force by service weapon or physical restraint.
The law says that they've seen the suspect (Dent) leaving an area they've observed doing an illegal activity.
Yeah, but if the suspect is following all rules of the road, why observe? He could be hugging a friend, taking groceries into a home, dropping his child off.
To an arresting officer, they see you as the one who doesn't belong in this area. They see you as the guy who just shows up out of nowhere. They see you as a criminal act in the making. They will proceed to follow you to see if you're up to no good. They will pull you over.
Two scenarios.
1) If you believe that you're not doing anything wrong, you can waive your right to have your vehicle searched. Do not believe the officer when he says you may get a warning for the traffic infraction. Always believe that you can be cited for a ticket. If you allow a search and was given a ticket, it may not hold up in traffic court.
2) If you believe that you're not doing anything wrong, you can tell an officer you "I don't consent to my vehicle being searched". See the police do not tell you if you're pulled over, you have a right to not have them search your vehicle. They will let you make a mistake and force a probable search.
They will advocate other officers to monitor your movements, if the officer has no dog assistance.
They will tell you that you're being searched by the dog. They do a pat down of the motorist and may place the motorist into the back of a police vehicle. They warn the motorist if the dog detects a hit and they find something, you're going to county lock up. But stand firm and tell them that you do not consent to searches. And if you're feeling pressured, you can ask the officer, if you're free to leave the area.
If you're not hiding an arrestable offense, the officer will ticket you and tell you that you're "banned" from that area. Again, the officer can lie to make you fear they'll pull you over again. The judge is the only person who can ban you from an area. The officer is not a judge.
If you're allegedly hiding an arrestable offense, clam up and ask for a lawyer. Because if they done a probable search without your permission, you can use that in court as a defense.
The law and courts are aware of the Fourth Amendment and the right of search and seizure. They can't just take your vehicle if you're not allowing them to.
Floyd Dent got served a court charge of possession. He claims he was set up.
See the bombshell in this story is that one of the arresting officers got off the hook for a federal crime.
William Melendez comes to question. He was one of the eight officers who was fired from the Detroit Police. He and those seven others were on trial for civil right abuses. There are claims that Melendez plants evidence on motorists to justify an arrest. He was acquitted of charges. But he somehow lands back on the police force in nearby Inkster.
The officers that pulled Dent over where White. Dent was a Black motorist. He was unarmed.
The law says that Dent was struggling, shouting offensive language, and biting at the officers. The lawyer for Dent denies that occurred. Dent claimed that he stopped after the officers claimed that he ran a stop sign.
Dent was kicked in the head and thrown to the ground. He was placed in a chokehold by the arresting officer. He even had a service weapon shoved into his head.
Dent who was retired Ford worker has no serious criminal history.
Melendez and two other officers are placed on desk duty. The charges for assault on an officer were dismissed on Dent. But the charge of cocaine possession will land Dent in court.
Some may point out that one of the arresting officer Melendez claimed that cocaine was found under the passenger seat. He was dubbed "ROBOCOP" by some residents.
Now to the readers of Journal de la Reyna. If this case justifies a probable search and arrest of the subject, why was the physical restraint used on the suspect?
There are good police officers and not so good ones. See the ones who are not so good are defended by the likes of that annoying conservative agitator, FRED101, and the racist right. The law is given blaring support from White conservatives and their images splashed on the conservative Craigslist.
Out of the woodwork, asshats like Colin Flaherty and Charles C. Johnson will make the case for every police brutality on people of color, there's hundreds of Blacks committing acts on White people.
Dent would be smeared by the racist right. No question will be left unturned if the racist right observe even a sliver of incrimination. Say if Dent had a Facebook posting of him drinking a beer on the front porch with a middle finger. Automatic criminal in the minds of the racist right.
Obviously FRED101 will come up with some stupid reaction to this story by linking some bullshit in the comment section of this story.
Police brutality is an ongoing issue. Black and Latino men are often looked upon as natural born criminals in the minds of the racist right and the law. About 38% of Black men and 40% Hispanic men all aged 18 - 39 have been pulled over by the law.
