African Americans have never been compensated for the work. Our descendants were brought to North America through the slave trade and were forced to do tasks. Our descendants were treated like animals and weren't treated like humans.
Americans believe that slavery was wrong.

Republicans and far-right agitators wants us to move on from racism and slavery. After all, it was conservative principles that led to slavery. They used their bibles, their firearms and their utter hatred of change to fight the country.

The U.S. Civil War and the Jan. 6 insurrection are prime examples of how racism exist.

To this day, the far-right operates on platforms that degrade Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans, intellectuals, immigrants, Muslims, Jews, LGBTQ and progressives.

Pretending to be patriots, the far-right continues to operate on this notion that white supremacy is the way of life in the United States.

Reparations often come up in discussions with Black leaders. To pay our families back for generations of labor for nothing.

The city of Evanston has become the first U.S. city to pay reparations to Black residents.
The city of Evanston becomes the first U.S. city to offer an apology for years of racism towards African Americans. They offer reparations to those who lived in the city and faced discrimination.

On Monday, the city became the first to make reparations available to its Black residents for past discrimination and the lingering effects of slavery.

The Chicago suburb's City Council voted 8-1 to distribute $400,000 to eligible Black households. Each qualifying household would receive $25,000 for home repairs or down payments on property.

The program is being funded through donations and revenue through a 3% tax on the sale of recreational marijuana. The city has pledged to distribute $10 million over 10 years.

Qualifying residents must either have lived in or been a direct descendant of a Black person who lived in Evanston between 1919 and 1969 and who suffered discrimination of city ordinances, policies or practices.

Other cities are considering offering reparations. Some California cities, Amherst, Massachusetts, Providence, Rhode Island, Asheville, North Carolina, Iowa City, Iowa; religious denominations like the Episcopal Church; and prominent colleges like Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

The issues of reparations, immigration, gun violence, voting rights and ethics reform are going to be challenging. The white nationalist Republicans and far-right oppose the narratives. They are mounting a racist campaign to win back Congress.

They're complaining about migrant children coming to the United States seeking asylum. The U.S. does not turn away children on the humanitarian grounds. The far-right as expected is trying using the "scary Brown person" as a way to win back white voters who supported Washed Up 45 but ended up voting for President Joe Biden.

Seriously, we have lost over 550,000 Americans to the coronavirus. We have folks who refuse to wear masks in public. We have people claiming that "racism is over."

The far-right agitators are working up the fear factor on "cancel culture."

Reparations are another issue that the far-right opposes. After all, we supposed to accept the fact that slavery and genocide towards people of color is so yesterday.
