Greedy Kings!

Dexter (right), Bernice (center) and Martin Luther King III (left) are feuding with one another over their father's memorable items. Some include his bible and Nobel Peace Prize. The three surviving members of the King Estate have distanced themselves from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

As you know that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy is loved a cherished by millions here and abroad.

He was the pioneer of the American Civil Rights Movement. He fought for equal rights for all Americans.

The modern day conservatives truly believe that King was an inspiration for their loathing of President Barack Obama. They would tarnish his legacy by making outrageous claims about his life, his family and of course his beliefs.

For one thing, King was called a "COMMUNIST" by the racist right. Republicans weren't on board for passing a national holiday recognizing the slain civil rights leader.

For him winning a Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work, conservatives would have slander him as a NIGGER who got all this attention for being a meddler. Conservatives believe that King didn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize. The very same stuff conservatives done to President Barack Obama when he won the award in 2009.

At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize. When notified of his selection, he announced that he would turn over the prize money of $54,123 to the furtherance of the civil rights movement.

Now let's fast forward to 2014,  50 years since the March on Washington, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Corretta Scott's children are squabbling over the royalties.

CNN reports the children of Martin Luther King Jr. are back at loggerheads -- this time over his Bible and Nobel Peace Prize.

The estate of the civil rights icon filed a complaint in Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta on Friday to force Bernice King, his daughter, to turn over the items.

King's heirs agreed in 1995 to give up their inheritance to the Estate of Martin Luther King Jr. Inc., the complaint reads.

Bernice King has "repeatedly acknowledged and conceded the validity" of the agreement, but has "secreted and sequestered" the items in question, it says.

Specifically, the estate -- which is controlled by Dexter King and Martin Luther King III -- wants his 1964
Nobel Peace Prize and his traveling Bible, which was used by President Barack Obama when he was sworn in for his second term.

Bernice King says her brothers just want the items to sell them.

"Our Father MUST be turning in his grave," she said in a Tuesday statement.

"While I love my brothers dearly, this latest decision by them is extremely troubling. Not only am I appalled and utterly ashamed, I am frankly disappointed that they would even entertain the thought of selling these precious items. It reveals a desperation beyond comprehension."

The complaint does not mention the possibility of a sale, and attempts to contact the King brothers, through the estate, Tuesday were unsuccessful.

This is not the first time the family has been at odds over King's legacy. Over the years, the siblings have sued and counter-sued one another.

Bernice King and Martin Luther King III sued Dexter King in 2008, accusing him of converting "substantial funds from the estate's financial account at Bank of America" for his own use. They later agreed to a settlement and avoided a public trial.

"My brothers' decision to sue me is drastic and grieves me greatly. I have absolutely no desire to be in court or to fight yet another public battle," Bernice King said in her statement Tuesday.

"Nevertheless, some actions are sacrilegious and some things are not for sale."

Spare A Half-A-Dollar For A Worthless Brotha!

Obama’s Half Brother Tells an Israeli Newspaper about What He Believes the President’s Views Are on His Race and American Culture

Tabloid television program Inside Edition grabs an interview with President Barack Obama's half brother.

The half-brother will write a book detailing the strained relationship with his famous family member. Of course, the racist right media will rekindle the birther issue. Since the racist right hates Obama and all things about him, they'll retry the "he's not American" or "secret Muslim" nonsense.

About 40% of Republicans believe that President Barack Obama is "likely American".

About 30% of Republicans believe that President Barack Obama is a "Muslim".

About most Republicans believe that the president's policies are "destroying America!"

Anything that relates to the president's extended family will drive the racist right nuts!

Mark Okoth Obama Ndesandjo is the son of Ruth Baker and Barack Obama, Sr.

Author of a memoir published in 2013, he runs an Internet company called WorldNexus that advises Chinese corporations how best to reach international customers. Mark graduated from Brown University, studied physics at Stanford University, received an MBA from Emory University, and has lived in Shenzhen, China, since 2002.

Barack Obama, Sr. fathered eight children with four women.

Through his mother, he is Jewish. Ndesandjo is married to Liu Xuehua (also spelled Liu Zue Hua in some reports), a Chinese woman from Henan Province. He is an accomplished pianist.

In 2009, he published a semi-autobiographical novel, Nairobi to Shenzhen: A Novel of Love in the East.

He has also stated that he planned to write a proper autobiography which would go into more detail about his relationship with Barack Obama.

President Obama’s half-brother told an Israeli newspaper that when he first met Barack, he was struck by his sibling’s rejection of Western culture.

“I remember that my impression at the first meeting was that Barack thought that I was too white, and I thought that he was too black,” Mark Okoth Obama Ndesandjo told Maariv. “He was an American citizen on a journey in search of his African roots, while I was a resident of Kenya seeking to find his white roots.”

“I remember that when I spoke with him about the heroes of Western culture he rolled his eyes impatiently. My feeling was that, here is an American who in many ways is trying to be a local Kenyan youth. This is something I tried to flee my entire life,” Ndesandjo said of the brothers’ first meeting in Kenya, which Obama described in his 1995 best-selling memoir, “Dreams From My Father.”

In his memoir, Obama also described the first meeting with his brother: “I don’t feel much of an attachment [to Kenya]. Just another poor African country,” Obama quoted Ndesandjo saying. He went on to say, “You think that somehow I’m cut off from my roots … Well, you’re right.”

As reported on The Blaze last month, Ndesandjo has said he wants to “set the record straight” about some of the details presented in Obama’s memoir.
Capitalizing off the fame, Ndesandjo writes about his strained relationship with President Barack Obama.
The siblings have met since that first meeting in Kenya, including in 2007 before then-candidate Obama’s debate with rival Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“I came to visit him in Texas, and it was one of the happiest moments of my life. He entered the room where I was waiting for him, looked at me and said, ‘Mark, what happened to your afro?’ And I asked: ‘What happened to your afro?’ He said: ‘I cut my hair.’ It was a real moment, very natural, as if for a moment we returned to being two brothers,” Ndesandjo recounted.

Ndesandjo described his relationship with the president as “loaded” and “passionate.”

“There were very good conversations or very loaded,” he said in the interview, which was published Thursday.

The siblings share the same Kenyan father, Barack Obama Sr., but had different white American mothers.

“A few months ago I asked him to contact his relatives in Kenya. I told him that even one phone call would propel them to the sky with such happiness, but he didn’t like what I asked, and that moment broke off the connection with me,” Ndesandjo said.

Note that in Hebrew – the language in which the interview was published – the same word is used for “connection” and “relationship” so it’s unclear if Ndesandjo meant that his brother Barack cut off the telephone conversation or their relationship.
President Barack Obama is more closer to his sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, his biological sister from his mother Ann Durham.
“He can be sensitive, aggressive or very stoical. That’s a side of his personality that many people do not know,” Ndesandjo said of Barack Obama. “Barack and I have a lot in common. Both of us have advantages and disadvantages, and some of them come from our father.”

The president’s half-brother described their relationship with their parents and with each other.

He called their father “a boundary-breaking man and to a large extent rebellious. He was a man of great passion and intellect, who attracted many people.”

Barack Obama, Sr. with little Barack.
Asked what he has in common genetically with Barack, Ndesandjo said, “I think that the common link between us comes not from [our] shared father, rather more from our mothers. Both of us had strong mothers, women who took great risks to raise their children and to protect them. Barack and I love our mothers to no end, because they defended us and protected us.”

“I thought it was amazing how much he resembles me,” Ndesandjo said of their first meeting. “And yet, we were like two Siamese twins who looked in the direction of the other, and we were unable to see each other.”

Ndesandjo today is a businessman and musician who lives in China. He published an autobiographical novel several years ago which described an abusive Kenyan father.

He also runs the Mark Obama Ndesanjo Foundation which promotes cultural exchanges between Asia, Africa and the U.S. and provides instruments and music teachers to needy children in China.

When his parents divorced, Ndesandjo moved to the U.S. where he studied physics at Brown University and Stanford and earned an MBA from Emory University.

Ndesandjo told Maariv he considers himself a member of the Jewish people: “I am a Jew not only because I have a Jewish mother but first and foremost because there exists in me great pride to be a part of the Jewish people. I feel great belonging to Jewish heritage, to Jewish culture, and to the Jewish philosophers.”

Invitation to the Moral March on Raleigh from Greenleaf Christian Church

Human Rights | A Reason to Attend the Moral March on Raleigh

I Did This On ...Pt 2

Conservative Outrage Over Paying Government Workers $10.10 Per Hour!

Obama wants to raise the stakes.

Of course, all Americans are still not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. After all we're still having some turmoils with hiring and having a steady income despite record gains in the stock market.

But after last week's slide in the Dow Jones shows that our economy is back on the downslide.

It's honestly according to President Barack Obama a self inflicted wound. He's working hard to put people back to work, and his opposition is so devoted to stopping him.

The Republicans and their conservative allies believe that the long termed unemployed and the poor are the reasons for the economic mess we're in. They refuse to pass legislation that advocate unemployment benefits and food stamps for the needy.

They rather see Americans blame the president for their ineptness.

Yeah the House of Representatives can claim they've passed bills. The Senate can claim the same, but however, there is no compromise. So we got a Congressional gridlock.

The president admitted that his second term isn't going so smoothly. He wanted to pass gun control regulation and immigration reform. The U.S. Senate failed to pass gun control and the House will not take up the issue of immigration reform.

Republicans spent a majority of the five years trying to stop gays from getting married, food stamps from being doled out, voter restrictions to keep the poor and minorities from the ballot box, and of course create more turmoil for the president.

Now the newest conservative outrage is the president's executive order to give federal contractors $10.10 per hour.

The Washington Post reports that post State of The Union, President Barack Obama will use his executive power to increase the minimum wage to $10.10 per hour for workers on new government contracts, fulfilling a top demand by liberal lawmakers and groups, according to a White House document.

Obama will also renew his call for Congress to pass legislation to raise the federal minimum wage for all workers from $7.25 per hour to $10.10 per hour by 2015. But the president is taking the executive action with no clear timeline for Congress acting on the broader legislation. Previously, the White House said it wanted to concentrate on the legislative route for boosting the minimum wage.

“Hardworking Americans — including janitors and construction workers — working on new federal contracts will benefit from the Executive Order (EO),” the White House said in a statement. “Some examples of the hardworking people who would benefit from an EO include military base workers who wash dishes, serve food and do laundry.”

An estimated 2 million Americans work on federal contracts, though the number of workers receiving the minimum wage would be a fraction of that.

A survey by the National Employment Law Project of contractors who manufacture military uniforms, provide food and janitorial services, and truck goods found that 75 percent of them earn less than $10 per hour. One in five was dependent on Medicaid for health care, and 14 percent used food stamps.

Obama’s action will only slowly trickle out into workers’ paychecks, beginning in 2015 and at the start of new contracts.

Liberal lawmakers have pushed the White House to use executive powers to boost the minimum wage. Fifteen senators wrote to Obama in the fall, saying that “profitable corporations that receive lucrative contracts from the federal government should pay all of their workers a decent wage.”
It's going to get done.
The White House argued that a higher minimum wage for federal contract workers would increase morale, reduce turnover and boost productivity. It added that government contractors would be able to manage the increase because only workers on new contracts would be eligible for the boost in the minimum wage.

Obama will also push for passage of a bill sponsored by Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.) that would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 and index it to inflation. Congress last increased the minimum wage seven years ago.

Obama is planning in the State of the Union to describe other executive actions he will take this year — what aides describe as a touchstone to his style of governance in his final years in office.

Gnat Infestation!

Critics are like gnats. They're pest and its up to us to rid ourselves of them.

One of the best things in my opinion is to read feedback from the good readers of Journal de la Reyna.

Me and S. Baldwin work hard to keep this blog updated and do appreciate everyone who is reading.

I hope we build more readers and followers of this blog. I appreciate all the support from the new and even old followers of Journal de la Reyna.

Often times I read some of the comments in our blog. Let me say this with no remorse: HATERS ARE GOING TO HATE!

Get another bag, cause its another dose of word vomit sponsored by random losers who were "offended" by our posts.

john phillips said...
So, a reporter wants to know if the taxpayers are footing the bill for Michelle Obama's party, and you, instead of worrying about the taxpayers, attack the reporter and the right as racists. Not a single part of that question was remotely akin to a race question, yet you go after the people who demand some form of transparency and accountability by using insults and the race card. What a joke and clearly biased loser you are.
Mike said...
Indeed racist and ignorant. Could you explain how it's uniquely right wing? Plenty of white liberals think the same thing. It was the progressives that ushered in Jim Crow under Wilson. White supremacy transcends ideology.
Anonymous said...
Racist right. Hahaha you're silly and have to blame someone else for your own thoughts. You're coo coo. Hee hee YOU are the racist you silly goose. Silly silly silly.
It's a part of generating a mainstream buzz.

My feelings aren't hurt by some anonymous loser online. Your comments are not going to stop me from speaking my mind. In fact, it may inspire me to do more.

I practically beg for the attention. After all, I write often topics that are inspirational and at times it could be considered controversial. I don't deny that. After all I come up with some of the most catchiest titles to the article. I sometimes visit blogs and websites to obtain stories that might appeal to our readers. I am guilty for doing so. And at best, I want to give an honest opinion about what's going on in my community, the government and the junk food media.

I said no one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to read our blog.

Why would you waste your time attacking us?

Did we strike a nerve?

Are we telling something about yourself?

Are you too afraid to look into the mirror and see for yourself that you (and only you) would be the true racist?

Cause I can tell you're the racist. You left a comment on an article that didn't sit well with you!

You're free to comment at anytime. But you think we should read your word vomit?
An example of an angry White man.
Nope. We're not in the business of reading your word vomit. Practically, deleting it will be the best satisfaction. Having you loose your marbles over your comments being scratched from the blog is the perfect way to keep a lunatic like you going. Cause you're going to rile yourself up over how we "silenced" you because we didn't want to read your condescending asinine comments.

We understand.

Conservatives hate being called racist.
Writing all sorts of ills about America but yet sit on the sidelines watching others do their dirty work.
Unfortunately, you're not helping yourselves by acting like a bunch of dummies. Who continues to float around those stupid racist emails? Who continues to promote crime in urban areas? Who claims that it's "those Black folk" who are on food stamps and entitlements? And who keeps on claiming a legacy that your party failed to take part in. I mean you can run your mouths claiming Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. being a Republican but in the same breath call him a "socialist" like you did President Barack Obama.

Never enough outrage from the angry White man.
Sometimes in my mindset, by calling the president a "socialist" its a newer way of saying NIGGER without mentioning the word. Conservative strategists know how to get the ball running on labeling an opponent "the other". That's why you have a network that runs 24/7 Republican bullcrap!

Seriously, conservatives believe that being called racist is the attempt by the left to silence them from speaking the "facts" about "us Black folk" stealing from "da White man".

Conservatives believe racism solely lies within the Democratic Party. They often accuse Barack Obama (the nation's first Black president), Michelle Obama (First Lady of The United States), Al Sharpton (Rev. Perm), Jesse Jackson (Cut His Nuts Off Jackson) and Eric Holder (U.S. Attorney General) as the reasons for racism in America.

If you didn't know, our country's demographics have shifted again. For the first time since 2012, a child birth per year will be majority interracial. So in other words, this country is going to be a whole lot browner.
Playing on the sorrows of the poor and ignorant  to show sympathy. And still count the millions you reek in.
Now of course, the Republican Party itself. The party has no real accomplishments in courting minorities.

Sure they have Tim Scott, Tom Cole, Raul Labrador, Suzanna Martinez, Nikki Haley, Bobby Jindal, Stallmigos Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio in the fold, but the party itself is mostly White, old, rigid and too conservative, even in Saint Reagan standards.

The party must purge itself of the hateful rhetoric of those in the junk food media.

The party must appeal to a broad coalition of young minds who are willing to follow the principles of limited government, free enterprise, strong religion and a sense of pride for America.

What the party must do is motivate itself back to the center-right.

What I've said before and I will stick to it: The Republican Party has no place for me and others of color.

The party isn't racist. But there are a sure lot of White folks in the party that tarnish the image and give the left strong convictions. Conservatives are single minded voters who voice their opinions through the bullhorn or the bullet.

They are often the people who have strong bigotry towards someone's race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, economic and political standings.

At best, the poor and ignorant (which are those who likely didn't go to college) often seek advice from millionaires who's sole purpose in life is to keep us divided.

The poor and ignorant will become bitter over other's having the advantages they never could achieve. They believe that those who get from the "gubmint" are the leeches of society.

In their minds, if you don't support their views, you're an enemy.

Too often this stuff happens within the Tea Party Movement and those who vote solely Republican.

If you continue to promote this type of nonsense in the coming years, I promise you that Republicans are doomed to repeating itself in the 2016 presidential elections.
These type of conservatives represent the White, old, rigid, bigoted and too extreme side of the Republican Party.
Perennial losers Mitt Romney and John McCain learned that you can't talk shit and expect to win in a landslide.

So to those who criticized us for being "racists": Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

For you see, we don't have to prove to anyone about our feelings towards people of color. Why should we continue on and on about what we do outside of this blog?

You don't know us personally.

So keep on typing your word vomit, anonymous users! You're not hurt me or S. Baldwin.

You are hurting the Republican Party. And believe me, they do a fine job of hurting themselves.

A New Girl And A Prince!

Zoey Daschanel, Jake Johnson and Prince in the teaser for New Girl. The sitcom comes on after the Superbowl and its a feature on Tuesday nights at 9pm.

Prince makes a rare appearance on Fox's sitcom New Girl.

After the Seattle Seahawks massacred the Denver Broncos in a epic blowout at Superbowl XLVIII, the Fox network decides to run its Tuesday comedies for the after party.

Seattle Seahawks (NFC Champions) won the Superbowl scoring 43 to Denver Broncos (AFC Champions) 8. This gave Payton Manning his first embarrassing loss ever. Congratulations to the Seahawks on their victory.

Anyway, the cast of New Girl was invited to a party and its hosting Prince.

Zoey Deschenel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans, Jr. are the stars of the comedy.

Prince Rogers Nelson (born June 7, 1958), known by his mononym Prince, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and actor. He has produced ten platinum albums and thirty Top 40 singles during his career.

He has written several hundred songs and produces and records his own music for his own music label.

In addition, he has promoted the careers of Sheila E., Carmen Electra, the Time and Vanity 6,

Show creator and executive producer Liz Meriwether said they immediately started planning with an eye toward making a spectacular episode both new viewers and old fans alike would enjoy. "Luckily, Prince reached out to us around the same time, so we started out ahead," Meriwether tells TVGuide.com.
Show creator Liz Meriwether (right) thanks Prince for appearing on the sitcom and promises more features to come.
SPOILER ALERT

When Cece (Hannah Simone) and Jess are nearly run over by Prince's manager, they're invited to an exclusive house party, where Prince will actually perform one of his new songs. Jess will even sing with him at one point as Prince tries to bestow relationship advice on Jess and Nick (Jake Johnson) - who, along with the rest of the guys, has crashed Prince's party.

"A big moment happens for Nick and Jess in their relationship," she says. "They're trying to deal with this big relationship moment at the Prince party, which is an unlikely place to deal with your relationship. Prince ends up helping Jess through this moment by giving her a full mind and body makeover to bring out her most Prince-like qualities."

Obama To O'Reilly: Your Network Gets On My Damn Nerves!

Right wing agitator grills President Barack Obama over his record.

The Superbowl is the world's most watched televised event. Many Americans here and abroad watch the NFL's championship game. The AFC and NFC teams meet at a stadium and face off for the championship title.

The Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos play at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey. Super Bowl XLVIII is slated to have 167 million viewers. The most popular themes of the Superbowl is the Halftime Show being sponsored by Pepsi and of course the commercials.

New Jersey and New York are preparing for the revenues.

It's on the Fox Network and of course their sister network Loserville has the opportunity to interview the President of the United States.

Since President Barack Obama is the current leader and he's the standard bearer of the Democratic Party, Loserville will do the interview. While they deny this continuously, the network has push its racist right agenda in the masquerade of journalism.

Yellow journalist Bill-O (Bill O'Reilly) goes right into it. The right wing agitator throws rancor over the IRS scandal, the horrible rollout of the Obamacare website, Benghazi and his focus on executive orders.

President Obama knows how Loserville operates.

So he knew it was going to be a hostile interview.

The first shot was launched and this went right into the spin.

“Your detractors believe that you did not tell the world [Benghazi] was a terror attack because your campaign didn't want that out,” Bill-O said. “That’s what they believe.”

“And they believe it because folks like you tell them that,” Obama said. "These kinds of things keep on surfacing in part because you and your TV station will promote them."

Prior to the interview, Bill-O told Loserville's Megyn The Outrage Princess that he was “not nervous.”

“He is not a bad guy, I think people misread him,” he said. “However, my interview this time is going to be very precise.”

The second part will come shortly. Stay tuned.

We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to Philip Seymour Hoffman, Pete Seeger, Arthur Gardner Rankin, Jr., and Morrie Turner.

Good luck to the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.

Ohio State University Picks Michael Drake As President!

File:Michael Drake.jpg
Ohio State University located in Columbus, Ohio is probably one of the area's top employers. With an on campus population of over 67,000, the school is building a new legacy.

The university hired former University of California chancellor Michael Drake as the new president.

Ohio State University trustees picked a California educator as the school's next president Thursday, ending a search that began with the former president's retirement following remarks critical of Roman Catholics and Southeastern Conference schools.

Trustees voted unanimously in favor of University of California, Irvine chancellor Michael Drake to become the 15th president of Ohio State.

"Dr. Drake was the strongest and the consensus candidate," said Jeffrey Wadsworth, an Ohio State University trustee who led the search.

Drake is an ophthalmology professor who also is a published textbook author. In 2005 he was named the fifth chancellor of UC Irvine, where he also served as a professor.

Drake said he was humbled by the opportunity and looking forward to working at Ohio State. He said the university is "in many ways the premier position in higher education in the United States today."

"The trajectory and power of Ohio State are known throughout the world," Drake said.

Under his tenure, undergraduate applications at Irvine increased more than 90 percent and the four-year graduation rate rose by nearly 20 percent. In 2006, Drake oversaw the creation of the first new public law school in California in more than 40 years. He also launched new programs in public health, pharmaceutical sciences and nursing science tailored to meet the community's hiring needs.

Before the chancellor's job, Drake worked for five years as vice president for health affairs for the University of California system, where he oversaw academic program policy at UC's 15 health sciences schools. Prior to that, he was on the faculty of the UC San Francisco School of Medicine for more than two decades.

Drake received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from UC San Francisco. He and his wife, Brenda, have two adult sons and two grandchildren.

Seal of the Ohio State University.pngAt Ohio State, Drake will lead one of the nation's largest public universities, one with a national profile in both academics and sports. The search committee had said that it was looking for someone with a record of significant fundraising and that an understanding of an academic medical center and top NCAA athletic programs would be desirable.

The presidential search was on track to cost more than $300,000. About a third of that is expenses for a one-day forum on the state of the college presidency. More than $200,000 was being paid to a head-hunting firm.

In addition to its undergraduate academic programs, medical school and hospital, and high-profile sports teams, Ohio State also has professional schools for business, law and pharmacy, among many others.

Former president Gordon Gee, who retired after his remarks, which also criticized Notre Dame, is now interim president at West Virginia University. In a statement he called Drake "a world-class academic and an exceptionally able and seasoned higher education leader."

Penny Pinching!

An abandoned Walmart in Wisconsin.

The nation's largest retailer has disappointing revenues. The controversy surrounding that involves Washington and the stubborn lawmakers who won't give the poor and middle class a break.

After all, these politicos are living high on the hog while the working class are struggling from day to day trying to keep food on the table.

I can testify. I work two jobs and still can't achieve the successes of the upper income and well off.

It's a shame though that Walmart relies on all their shoppers to stay vibrant.

Food stamps were cut last year and the Congress is planning on bringing up a bill that will engage in severe cuts to the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

Whenever you hear That Guy Who Helped Obama Win rant on his right wing carnival about 50 million (previously 47 million according to the right wing agitators) being on food stamps, I think to myself that those on assistance are helping Walmart stay in business. I think that those on assistance keeps me working.
Shopping easy Walmart has reinvented its image with newer ways to attract shoppers.
For you see I work in the service industry. These people on assistance are spending money to keep food on my plate. They are keeping my hours plentiful.

With the rising costs of food, gas, energy consumption and tuition, people are turning to food stamps, food banks and various charities to gain access to necessities to keep themselves from landing in the homeless shelter.

Without a safety net, these people will rob and kill those who have the luxuries of having food in the refrigerator or in the pantry. They would steal fuel, water, bread and meat to keep feeding their families. And yet, these Republicans and their conservative allies are thinking the poor are the reasons for the economic recession. Perhaps those who complain about the poor, should walk a day in that person's shoes!

The Republican Party and its allies in the conservative movement are heartless when it comes to the lower and middle class. In their warped minds, the lower class and those who are too poor are stealing from the taxpayers by accepting food stamps, welfare and necessaries.

It does affect everyone.

The Huffington Post reports that Walmart struggled at the end of last year. But according to the retailer's new estimations, it wasn't because people didn't want to buy. It was because they couldn't.

The retail giant warned Friday that the effect of last year's national food stamp cuts on its bottom line will likely be deeper than the company previously estimated. As a result its comparable same-store sales -- a retail metric that measures how stores are doing year over year -- will likely be slightly down for the fourth quarter.

“The sales impact from the reduction in SNAP [the U.S. government Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program] benefits that went into effect Nov. 1 is greater than we expected,” Walmart’s Chief Financial Officer Charles Holley said in a news release Friday. “And, second, eight named winter storms resulted in store closures that impacted traffic throughout the quarter.”

The GOP-led push to cut food stamps benefits to the tune of $5 billion left 47 million Americans reeling during a time of near record-level food insecurity.
The racist right website The Blaze was tipped off by a cart load of necessities. In 2013 a glitch in the Louisiana EBT program caused a panic and people loaded carts full of groceries.
Because about 18 percent of all total food stamp dollars are spent at its stores, according to an October report from the Wall Street Journal, Walmart can serve as a way to gauge how Americans are coping.

Walmart executives were cautiously optimistic about the effects of the cut on Walmart's bottom line last year. "Everybody's benefit is going to get cut, price will become more important. And when price is more important, we're more relevant," Bill Simon, the retail giant’s U.S. CEO, said in October. He noted that Walmart’s market share actually decreased when the food stamp program initially expanded in 2009.

But the opposite hasn't held true so far, indicating that the poorest Americans are so pinched they can’t even afford to shop at the cheapest retailers. Family Dollar, another typical destination for Americans in a squeeze, also reported disappointing earnings earlier this month, which they blamed on factors including food stamp cuts, high unemployment and the payroll tax increase.

Munchies!

Stoner's treats.

That Guy Who Throws Shit To The Wall gave his buddies something to fear.

A new trend going around. Them days of weed brownies are over. Now we're going to have weed flavored chips, weed flavored candy and weed-flavored soda pop.

Wow, the marijuana industry is getting totally outrageous. I mean it's starting to becoming a greener nation.

The New York Times report that all day long, customers at LoDo Wellness Center, one of Colorado’s new recreational marijuana stores, reach into the refrigerator and pull out tasty ways to get high. They buy sparkling peach and mandarin elixirs, watermelon Dew Drops, and sleek silver bags of chocolate truffles, each one packed with marijuana’s potent punch.

“The stuff just flies off the shelves,” said Linda Andrews, the store’s owner.

As marijuana tiptoes further toward the legal mainstream, marijuana-infused snacks have become a booming business, with varieties ranging from chocolate-peppermint Mile High Bars to peanut butter candies infused with hash oil.

Retail shops see them as a nonthreatening way into the shallow end of the marijuana pool, ideal for older customers, tourists staying in smoke-free hotels or anyone who wants the effect without the smoke and coughing.

But the popularity of edible marijuana has alarmed parents’ groups, schools and some doctors, who say the highly concentrated snacks are increasingly landing in the hands of teenagers looking for a sweet, discreet high, or of children too young to know the difference between pot brownies and regular ones.

Colorado, like the other states with medical or recreational marijuana, has tried to keep the products away from children. It has ordered stores to sell them in child-resistant packages and bars labels designed to appeal to children. It requires manufacturers to list ingredients, serving sizes and expiration dates.

But critics say the regulations are not strict enough, especially for products that can contain 10 times as much psychoactive THC as the marijuana a casual user might take. (Because prices often depend on the amount of THC, one highly potent caramel chew can sell for $20 while a package of 10 less concentrated candies might be the same price.) And like flavored cigarettes or wine coolers, critics say, edible marijuana offers a dangerously easy on-ramp for younger users.

“They’re attractive to kids; they’re easily disguised,” said Gina Carbone of Smart Colorado, a group that opposes legalization. “They’re not being regulated properly at all to protect kids.”

One survey has found a small but growing number of children seeking treatment after accidentally consuming marijuana. Fourteen such children visited the emergency department of Children’s Hospital Colorado in the Denver area from October 2009 through December 2011, researchers reported last year in the journal JAMA Pediatrics. Before 2009, researchers reported no marijuana exposures.

The research took place after an explosion of medical-marijuana shops in Colorado, but before voters passed measures to legalize the sales and use of recreational marijuana to adults 21 and older. Dr. George Sam Wang, an author of the study and a clinical instructor in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital, said he had not seen any additional increases in children’s marijuana exposure since recreational sales began the first of this year.

The children, many of them toddlers, were taken in because they seemed strangely sleepy and disoriented. One had trouble breathing. About half had eaten marijuana cookies, cakes or candies, forms that researchers believed made them more enticing.

“Those edible products are inherently more attractive than what a bud would look like,” Dr. Wang said.

In the Northern Colorado city of Longmont, 2-year-old Evelyn Hernandez was playing in the front yard outside her family’s apartment building early in January when she spotted what looked like a chocolate-chip cookie in the grass, her mother, Aida, later told the police. The girl took a few bites before Ms. Hernandez noticed and threw away the cookie.
A few weed cookies and cup of milk and your high as a kite.
A half-hour later, while the family was grocery shopping, Ms. Hernandez noticed that Evelyn was drowsy and drooping, and struggling to walk. When she took her to the hospital, the girl tested positive for THC, according to a police report.

“She’s fine now,” Ms. Hernandez said in a brief interview, while Evelyn, grinning, waved and made faces from the living-room couch.

On the other side of the state, in a farm town renowned for its sweet corn, a student from Olathe High School ended up in the emergency room after a 14-year-old classmate passed some marijuana-infused brownies around the school last week. Justin Harlan, the Olathe police chief, said the brownies appeared to have been homemade, not sold from a dispensary. He said his officers were still investigating how the student had gotten the brownies and whether to file felony criminal charges.

In a letter to parents, the school’s principal, Scot Brown, warned that there would be “serious consequences” for students who brought marijuana onto campus. But with recreational marijuana now legal in Colorado, school officials were bracing for more. “Marijuana food products,” Mr. Brown wrote, “will be more readily available to our young people.”

Twenty states and the District of Columbia now allow medical marijuana, and in 2012, Colorado and Washington State became the first to legalize the drug for recreational use. Sales in Colorado began on Jan. 1 and have gone smoothly so far, regulators say. Retail sales in Washington are expected to start this spring.

Ironic!

Some are already saying that the children are getting their buzz from the sticky icky. I am just amazed that it's happening to the children. I don't understand who's the idiot who left the bud out?

C'mon people smoke correctly.

Keep the weed flavored products in a place where the children can't reach!
