It was bound to happen. The Chesapeake, Virginia based company is going to raise prices on some items at their stores. "Where Everything is a $1" is no longer the motto for Dollar Tree.
The company will be forced to raise prices on food, school supplies, cleaning supplies, toilet paper and helium for balloons.
The cost of clothes, cars, food and just about everything else has soared this year as the global economy emerges from the pandemic.
Last month Dollar Tree said that rising shipping costs would take a bit of the $1.50 to $1.60 out of its per-share profits this year. That's a huge hit for any business, perhaps more so far one founded decades ago steadfastly calling itself "Only $1.00 Inc."
The AP also reported that the company will have some flexibility and likely more variety on its shelves. But a dollar this year will not buy you what it did in 2020.
"For decades, our customers have enjoyed the 'thrill-of-the-hunt' for value at one dollar - and we remain committed to that core proposition - but many are telling us that they also want a broader product assortment when they come to shop," said CEO Michael Witynski in a prepared statement.
Some locations have become Dollar Tree Plus.
Inflation in the U.S. reached 4.2% in July, the highest in three decades. And this week in an appearance before Congress, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said that price increases have worsened amid snarled supply chains and rising labor costs.
Republicans continue to believe that Americans should get back to work in the middle of a deadly pandemic. Over 720,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus. The need for workers is dire for companies like Dollar Tree. They don't pay them enough for a shopper to berate them over a bar of soap costing $1.25 instead of its promised $1.

After her VERZUZ battle with fellow R&B singer, the entertainer shares her new projects and recovery from COVID-19
Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas (known professionally as Ashanti) is working on a comeback. She was being interviewed by Tamron Hall about her future plans. The American singer said that she is re-recording her debut album and re-releasing it. She said that she bought her masters.
The self-titled debut album went 3x platinum and was one of the biggest successes on Murder, Inc. Records and Def Jam Recordings.
"It's so surreal," the singer said. "I have an amazing legal team... The fact that I'll be able to rerecord my first album and put everything together and..." Then, Hall jumped in. "Wait, that's the big announcement! I was going to build up to that!... She's recording the album now as an independent artist!"
Ashanti spoke about those early days before her career as a New York City youth with big dreams. "I used to live in the basement of my house — I wanted to feel like I had my own apartment," she said. "So I used to be downstairs in my own section, and I would put on the Cartoon Network on mute and I would just write. And it sounds so crazy, but I would be...having cartoons on, playing the beat, and then just writing. It made me feel comfortable. It allowed me to kind of get into my zone."
While at the Murder, Inc studio, Ashanti remembers, "I would be the only female and there would be guys in there rolling dice and doing things that guys do and throwing money on the table and there was a lot of stuff in the air," she recalled. "And I would be in the corner … just writing in my pad."
Ashanti joined Fat Joe, Remy Ma and Ja Rule in a mini reunion on IGTV. The entertainers had talked about the VERZUZ battle. Ashanti even admitted that she held a long term relationship with St. Louis rapper/actor Nelly.

American R&B and gospel singer Kelly Price comes forward telling the world she is still alive.
The 49-year old entertainer had tested positive for COVID-19 and was reportedly missing after family members visited her suburban Atlanta home to find she wasn't there.
Price decided to break her silence.
She also told fans to take the coronavirus seriously.
"At some point, they lost me. I woke up some days later, a couple days later, and the first thing I remember is the team of doctors standing around me and asking me if I knew what year it was."
When asked to clarify what she meant by "they lost me," Price said. "I died."
Basically what she is telling the public, that the delta variant almost killed her. She was placed on a ventilator and went into a coma.
Price wouldn't reveal if she had been vaccinated when she tested positive for COVID-19.
She did say that she is following the doctor's advise by staying quarantined. She posted on social media that she has splitting headaches and hopes that she will recover from the coronavirus.
Price admits she is on oxygen while dealing with the coronavirus.
The controversy surrounding the entertainer was launched by her sister Shanrae Price. She had to notify the Cobb County Sheriff's office that Kelly had not contacted her in over a month. The last video Price posted was her in a mask saying that she tested positive for the coronavirus.
With everyone in the junk food media obsessed with the tragic death of Gabby Petito, many women of color and others are being ignored. It took five days before I even knew about Kelly Price being missing.
The singer's attorney Monica Ewing told the junk food media that she was alive. She is recuperating.

It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.
Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19.
If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.
Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

Man, I miss Barack and Michelle Obama.
Former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are expected to breaking ground at Jackson Park in Chicago. The former president will have his library and museum built in the South Side neighborhoods. The controversial project is going being build despite outcry from conservatives and those who feel like gentrification could snuff out Black neighborhoods.
As of August 2021, the former president's library is being built.
Recalling Obama's 2008 victory, the former president had acknowledged that Chicago is where he got his political career started. He said that from the ground up he built a candidacy for the people. He said that the library will bring hope to the South Side neighborhoods.
Obama's former vice president, now current president Joe Biden had to tape a video message congratulating his old boss on this achievement.
Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot and Illinois mayor J.B. Pritzker are attending the event.
Obama remarked that the event was scaled down due to the pandemic.
The former president as well as former president George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter have talked to Biden and offered advice on how to maneuver through the polls, the partisan bullshit from Congress and having a backbone of steel.

If you don't like the government, why the fuck are elected to be a part of government?
Congress' job approval is at record lows. Many of these lawmakers who rush to the cameras are the reasons to why Congress sucks. They are elected to write legislation. They can't be activists, guest radio hosts, bloggers, podcasters and social media darlings. Their job is to write bills, draft resolutions, pass budgets and engage with their constituents. They work 185 to 234 days out of a year. Why can't they actually work for good of America instead of this ridiculous partisanship.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris should invite the leaders of Congress, 20 senators and 60 House members to the White House. Get them wine, fine food and a handful of souvenirs. For some of those lawmakers, slide a little blow and a straw. Buttering up these lawmakers is a gamble but it shows the president is willing to work across the aisle.
Biden knows Congress is a total clusterfuck.
We are coming close to a government shutdown. We have Republicans opposing raising the debt ceiling which could lead to the United States defaulting on its loans again. We have them also opposing funding the budget for 2022. Their refusal could lead to a partial shutdown of federal agencies. That could put millions of Americans working out of jobs. With this damn pandemic and sluggish economy, the politics of division is front and center within the chambers of Congress.

Also the Democrats are faring no better. The progressive members are threatening to tank bipartisan efforts to pass President Joe Biden's American Jobs Plan. The portion of the Build Back Better agenda could be defeated by the progressive wing's most visible members who refuse to back bipartisanship.

President Joe Biden warned federal workers to be prepared for the government to shutdown.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is telling Congress that the Treasury Department will likely exhaust all of its "extraordinary measures" to avoid an unprecedented default on the government’s obligations by Oct. 18.
Yellen warned Congress three weeks ago that the Treasury would run out of maneuvering room by mid-October. In a Tuesday letter, she said economists were able to issue a specific date based on the amount of revenue the U.S. had received in September from corporate and private quarterly tax payments.
We need better leaders. Pelosi and Schumer can't get things done. McCarthy and McConnell can't get things done. We need people of color to run government.
Yellen's letter arrived the day after Senate Republicans blocked consideration of a bill to deal with the debt limit and approve a stopgap funding bill to avert a government shutdown Friday. The expectation is that Democrats will remove the increase in the debt limit and just seek to pass the stop-gap spending bill to avoid a government shutdown.
In her letter, Yellen said, "We now expect that Treasury is likely to exhaust its extraordinary measures if Congress has not acted to raise or suspend the debt limit by Oct. 18. At that point, we expect Treasury would be left with very limited resources that would be depleted quickly."
Yellen said it was uncertain whether Treasury could meet all of the nation’s commitments after that date.
As she has done in the past, Yellen urged Congress to "protect the full faith and credit of the United States by acting as soon as possible" to either raise the debt limit or suspend it.
While the nation has never defaulted on its debts, Yellen said that waiting until the last minute to take action would not be wise. In a budget standoff between Republicans and the Obama administration in 2011, the credit rating agency Standard & Poor's downgraded a portion of Treasury's sterling AAA credit rating for the first time in history, citing the uncertainty caused by the standoff.
"We know from previous debt limit impasses that waiting until the last minute can cause serious harm to business and consumer confidence, raising borrowing costs for taxpayers and negatively impact the credit rating of the United States for years to come," Yellen said.
"Failure to act promptly could also result in substantial disruptions to financial markets, as heightened uncertainty can exacerbate volatility and erode investor confidence," Yellen said in her letter to Congressional leaders.

The woman took her political messaging a step further on Saturday when she shared a series of images in which she posed next to her husband while wearing a shirt that reads "Anti Biden Social Club." Jason, meanwhile, was not wearing any politically charged clothing in the snap. Other photos she shared in the post showed her kids, Memphis, 3, and Navy, 2, wearing shirts that read "Hidin’ from Biden."
Many of the far-right's most notable agitators praised it as bold and "patriotic." Those on the left said they're done with Aldean and vow to never buy his latest album.
The woman then promoted the maker of the clothing line, which is sold at a website called DaddyT45, an obvious reference to Washed Up 45. The clothing brand boasts several pro-Washed Up 45 and anti-Biden pieces of clothing as well as an entire line dedicated to those who want to show that they are unvaccinated against the coronavirus.
This isn’t the first time that the woman has shared her disdain for Biden. She previously caught backlash around the time of the 2020 election when the former president was erroneously questioning the results. At the time, she took to Instagram to sport a sweatshirt reading "... STILL MY PRESIDENT," prompting backlash from those on the left who believed she was promoting misinformation about the results.
Remember rapper YG and the late rapper Nipsey Hussle made a song called FDT which went directly after Washed Up 45 and the right went bonkers over that!
The "Shut Up and Ball" crowd are the folks who refuse to wear masks in a pandemic. They are the folks who claim that vaccines put tracking chips in your body all the while on their "trackable" cellphones. They are telling that life begins at the fetus while killing children and adults due to their refusal to take a pandemic seriously. They rather watch your grown adult son or daughter go to war in the need for "freedom." They get upset over two men kissing. They want to ban trans children from playing sports according to their gender. They want to pose with firearms as signs of strength but get upset over people of color posing with firearms.
The right often claim progressives are worshiping idols like Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Yet, they're the ones worshiping a morbidly obese man who has a shine devoted to himself.
