Huckleberry Hound Runs For President!

Huckabee declared his second run for failure.

The former governor of Arkansas who ran for president is making another run.

He was a host on Loserville, a talk radio agitator and best selling book writer. He's also an ordain Baptist minister and known crackpot.

Perennial candidate Mike Huckabee declared his intentions to run.

Huckabee is a damn clown. At one time, I thought he was a mellow type of Republican. I actually met him in 2007. He was pretty friendly. I met him and his wife at a Florida debate.

Huckabee had Chuck Norris endorse him during the primaries. They were present at the YouTube Republican debate.

I got an opportunity to meet them along with Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Mitt Romney, perennial candidates who ran for president.

In Hope, Arkansas, Huckabee declares his intentions. He and former president Bill Clinton grew up in that tiny town off the Interstate 30. Huckabee managed to scare White folks with tales of President Barack Obama siding with the terrorists. The clown wants to put GOD back in the White House.

“I learned the difference between right and wrong. And I learned that God loves me as much as he loves anyone, but that he doesn’t love some more than others,” Huckabee said.

The Republican politician criticized President Barack Obama for – as he sees it – not following through on his speeches about hope and change.

“Eight years later our debt has more than doubled, America’s leadership in the world has completely evaporated and the country is more polarized than ever in my lifetime,” he said.

Huckabee said Americans should get on their knees every night and pray that they live in a country that people are trying to enter rather than escape.

“I’m running for president because I know there is a difference between making a speech and making government accountable to the people who have to pay for it,” he said.

Before taking the stage, Hucksters wife Janet attacked what she sees as an absence of leadership in the United States; she questioned whether the nation is living up to example set by its founders.

“Is there anything that we would die for that our men and women fight today for, every day when they go fight? Do we still have that passion?” she said.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announces White House bid
Once again, Mike Huckabee runs for the nomination.
In 2008, Huckabee won the Iowa Caucus putting him in top-tier standings.

Now he's automatically a second-tier so don't think that his second run won't change his standings with the Republicans. His attacks on "Uncle Sugar's libido and Beyonce" will get him some play with the insurgency, but really, he's probably doing this for publicity of his book or Netflix series.

The perennial circus is about to get more interesting. Rick Santorum, Jim Gilmore and Rick Perry are tempted to run again.

About 100 miles away from Hope, Arkansas where Huckabee declared his intentions, Missouri Republicans overrides Democrat governor Jay Nixon's veto that imposed strict restrictions on welfare and food stamps.

I don't understand why Americans vote for the Republican Party. The party has no message.

Sorry, they do!

Stop Obama and stop Clinton. Do whatever it takes to delay the final years of Barack Obama's presidency and prevent Americans from putting Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Scare White folks with talk of Blacks looting the liquor store and beating up the White man nearby.
Conservatives hate the Welfare Queens.
Scare the White folks with talk of Ebola and measles spreading across the United States and it's because of illegal immigrants coming into the country. The illegal immigrants are coming from the border and are going to instantly be Democrats because they are granted amnesty.

Or perhaps tell White folks that Muslims are scary. There's places in the U.S. that practice Sh'ira law and the Islamic State flag is being flown by these radical Muslims. The Mexican government allowed the Islamic State build a terrorist training camp, eight miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Tell the White folks that militant gays and radical atheists are trying to take GOD out of the country.

Tell the White folks that liberals will ban you from drawing Mohammad but allow the slandering of GOD and depicting Jesus Christ as a flaming radical.

Tell the White folks that THE BLACKS are anti-cop, anti-White, having children out of wedlock and willing to vote Democrat despite the party being the real racists.

I am guilty as well as many others. I often vote for the candidate that suits the needs of the people. I voted for Ohio senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Rob Portman (R-OH) in the previous elections. I voted for John Kaisch in the Ohio governor's race.

I felt that despite him being an opportunistic jackass, the state's economy slightly improved and the challenger, Ed Fitzgerald ran a horrible campaign.

This is the party that believes that those in the middle class make over $250,000 in salary.

Republicans don't want to raise the minimum wage because they believe it drives jobs out of business. Giving workers $13 an hour is going to make McDonald's raise their prices on their food.

Republicans want to raise the retirement age to 70 because they believe that you're able to work, then you should work despite your health declining. Why should you be able to enjoy retirement if you're not able to work weekends?

Republicans don't want to grant equal pay to women. They get time off for maternity leave and they get opportunities to do things men can't do. They never seen a woman lift over 100 lbs. Why should they get paid to do nothing while men do the labors?

Republicans believe government workers are seething in riches. So they'll try to eliminate government agencies they claim are feeding the welfare state. Eliminating the IRS, the EPA, Department of Education, TSA and Department of Commerce will save the nation billions. It will put thousands of Americans out of work. So what!

The Republicans hate welfare. They want to eliminate unemployment benefits, pell grants, food stamp assistance and disability claims. They believe there are millions of Americans spending our taxpayer dollars living on government assistance.

When the single mom loses her job and needs assistance, they believe that giving $50 a month is suitable for a mother. Unemployment is not an option for that worker who had gotten paid $60,000 annual salary. They believe unions are sucking dry the corporations.

Honestly the racist right and those who belong to the Republican Party believe that the poor and needy using the safety net are more dangerous than corporations getting tax breaks to ship jobs overseas.

That Black woman with six children driving that Cadillac and eating lobster. And she's not working one job.

According to the racist right, welfare embolden dependency and entitlements.

I wonder if Huckabee has any thoughts to the Republicans and their obsession with destroying the safety net!

Stupid News Anchor Says F**k The Welfare Degenerates!

The ax fell on hapless news anchor. Said some stupid shit and got his ass handed to him.

Quick question: Will the folks over at Loserville have him on for interview after his unceremonious departure?

Sometimes what you say on a hot mic can not only cause you to lose your job but also make you the butt of ridicule.

A New York anchor let his big mouth fly right onto the airwaves and a Black couple managed to record it and post it on the social networks.

Matt Pieper will do fine as a talk radio agitator. He can head down to Naples and wake that crustacean Neal Boortz up. Boortz would say something similar to what this douche would say about people when he was a talk radio agitator.

Loudmouth Bill Cunningham, that annoying conservative agitator and the foolish talk radio asshat are examples of the racist right's undermining of the poor and needy.

They hate the safety net. The safety net helps those in need. In the racist right's mindset, if you're poor and using food stamps, you;re a parasite to the gubmint.

Pieper is an example of this mindset of White privilege men who think that just because he's not poor and had this posh job, he deserves the right to make these asinine comments.

The posh job is gone and he's going to probably get sued for the fine the FCC imposes on the News 12. The idiot may eventually live a day in the shoes of a poor person.

Just a reminder, without the safety net, people will result to looting and killing for necessities.

Pieper issued an apology. Not a true apology but one nonetheless.

As a professional who has spent his entire career delivering the news, I understand the importance of sharing the facts. The situation that transpired on September 24th was extremely unfortunate and I feel the need to communicate what occurred and clear the air. The incident was broadcast accidentally when we were supposed to be in a commercial break, not on the air. Someone in the control room spoke into my earpiece and asked me to relay a message to our reporter out in the field. These were not my own thoughts or profanities. In relaying that information, I made a poor decision in my choice of words and for that I apologize. I could have communicated what I was asked to get across in a different manner and under the pressure of doing my job in real time I made a mistake. I have been a stalwart advocate for equality and diversity in the workplace, within my own family and in my community. I apologize to anyone I offended and assure you that this situation—which has cost me my job—was truly just a mistake in relaying a message, and not a representation of my views or character.

Ye, Without Sin!

North Carolina politicians are proposing a ban on lottery sales to people who receive public assistance.

Don't you love it when Republicans say that the BIG BAD GOVERNMENT meddles in your life?

Yet these are the very same Republicans who want to meddle in the affairs of those who they claim to be "gubmint leeches". Republicans want to meddle in a minority voting precinct. They want to meddle between women's legs. And they want to push Christianity among those who don't follow. They want to meddle in a same sex couple's bedroom. These people want to see you piss in a cup to get unemployment, food and housing assistance if you lost your home in a natural disaster.

Another old, fat, ignorant, Republican who's out of touch with the rest of reality. Meet North Carolina's Paul Stam! Stam is the guy who wants to stop welfare recipients from playing the lottery!

Yet these people continue to elect those who benefit from being "entitled" to punish the poor and needy!

This is the ongoing culture war in the United States. It's sponsored by the corporations that pollute our air, ground and water. It's sponsored by the religious leaders who chastise you for being a single parent, the family who is poor or the even that guy who's gay! It's sponsored by the media who allows the daily rambles of talk radio and online blogs to be divisive and downright racist towards fellow Americans. It's sponsored by the entitled who believe that the best way to help the poor is to drive them even poorer and help them wipe each other out with drugs, disease and gun violence.

They can't stand a Black president!

They can't stand a reasonable solution to curbing gun violence in America!

White conservatives spend most of their time collecting welfare, disability, social security and privileges based solely on race, economic and political standings as well.

Most White conservative males are obsessed with firearms and kill in the name of a religion.

When White conservative males see Blacks, Hispanics/Latinos, or even Muslims with firearms, welfare, a better job, or even running for politics: These people scream at the top of their lungs about how it's our faults for most of America's problems! They want control over us, but never control over them!

Mediaite has the goods on the next idiotic move by the culture warriors. A bill being introduced will ban any citizen in the state who receives financial assistance from playing the state lottery.

It was sponsored by North Carolina politician by Paul Stam.

Guess what party he represents?

Let's Play!
Raleigh-Durham’s ABC affiliate WTVD-TV is reporting that lawmakers in that state are proposing legislation that would bar people on welfare or in bankruptcy from purchasing lottery tickets.

As reporter Anna Laurel explains, “the lawmaker drafting this legislation told us today that the vendor selling the lottery ticket would be penalized if they know the person is on welfare or in bankruptcy, which has some questioning if this law really solves any problems.”

“We’re giving them welfare to help them live, and yet by selling them a ticket, we’re taking away their money that is there to provide them the barest of necessities.”

But as the Raleigh news team discovered, local lottery vendors have serious concerns. One clerk was quoted as saying, “I don't feel comfortable to ask my customers what their financial status is… it’s not my business.”

Meanwhile, North Carolina’s NAACP president Reverend William Barber said that while his organization doesn't “agree with the lottery to start with” he would prefer to have State representative Stam focus on larger issues “Rather than Mr. Stam having a side argument, ask him to stop blocking labor rights for poor people and working people. Ask him to have a real conversation about real wage.”

So once again, here's your government intervening in your lives. You don't want this right?

Republican Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal is right on one thing! The Republican Party has to stop being the "stupid" party! But this message continues to fall on deaf ears!

The NIGGERIZATION Of Barack Obama: Welfare!

Conservatives: You people are obsessing over welfare? Is that a way to say Blacks and Hispanics are stealing from the White man again?

Would you want the poor and needy to live in homeless shelters or hotels? Would you rather have them spend a night in jail if they steal from a grocery store? Of course, if they have no safety net, they have no food and they're likely to steal!

Without the safety net (i.e. food stamps, welfare, farm aid, Medicaid, Medicare, Lifeline phones, etc.), these people you're bullying will come into your neighborhoods and rob you or kill you of  your luxuries. Mark my words, you're thinking of a war in the city! Wait until those unregistered guns get into your suburbs. And watch how they destroy your privileged lifestyles! No I am not calling for a riot or suburban anarchy. I am tell you conservative assholes that it's going to be survival of the fittest. And trust me, some of you suburban/rural folks may have firearms, but you forget that the poor own firearms too!

The Drudge Report splashed at 11 am the notion that welfare spending is up 32% in the four years (2008 - 2012). The gay conservative agitator puts it forth, Rush Limbaugh sets forth in the first hour of his daily ramble. Sean Hannity rants on about it! And yet no one else in the mainstream media (except Fox News and conservative talk radio/blogs) is talking about this. Probably because it's not an important story or it's a lie based on facts. These type of stories pushed by conservatives are dog whistle! They're trying to paint President Barack Obama, as a Nigger who helps out his Nigger and Wetback friends.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) is a far right politician.
The notion that welfare is what the president wants is ludicrous. Unemployment adjustment by Gallup has the nation's ratings at 7.3%. Seasonal hiring is on the rise and long-term job searching is declining. The economy is improving. Yet, these right wing bigots are so focused on the poor, the needy and the lower class. Not concerned about their candidate dictating businesses to make employees support him, they're focused on the  people who need safety nets.

They're not concerned about the nominee's oldest son saying that he would love to knock the president out because of their testy debate! They're only worried about bullying the undocumented worker, the poor, the needy, the woman's vagina, the gay community and of course President Barack Obama.

The Washington Times, a conservative publication had an online story claiming that welfare spending has grown substantially over the past four years, reaching $746 billion in 2011 — or more than Social Security, basic defense spending or any other single chunk of the federal government — according to a new memo by the Congressional Research Service.

The steady rise in welfare spending, which covers more than 80 programs primarily designed to help low-income Americans, got a big boost from the 2009 stimulus and has grown, albeit somewhat more slowly, in 2010 and 2011. One reason is that more people are qualifying in the weak economy, but the federal government also has broadened eligibility so that more people qualify for programs.

[Alabama] Senator Jeff Sessions, the ranking Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, who requested the Congressional Research Service report, said it underscores a fundamental shift in welfare, moving away from a Band-Aid and toward a more permanent crutch.

“No longer should we measure compassion by how much money the government spends but by how many people we help to rise out of poverty,” the Alabama conservative said. “Welfare assistance should be seen as temporary whenever possible and the goal must be to help more of our fellow citizens attain gainful employment and financial independence.”

Overall, welfare spending as measured by obligations has grown from $563 billion in fiscal 2008 to $746 billion in fiscal 2011, or a jump of 32 percent.

The CRS numbers tell a complex story of American taxpayers’ generosity in supporting a varied social safety net, ranging from food stamps to support for low-income AIDS patients to child-care payments to direct cash going from taxpayers to the poor.

By far the biggest item on the list is Medicaid, the federal-state health program for the poor, which at $296 billion in federal spending made up 40 percent of all low-income assistance in 2011. That total was up $82 billion from 2008.

Beyond that, the next big program is food stamps, at $75 billion in 2011, or 10 percent of welfare spending. It’s nearly twice the size it was in 2008 and accounts for a staggering 20 percent of the total welfare spending increase over those four years.

Several programs to funnel cash to the poor also ranked high. Led by the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Supplemental Security Income and the Additional Child Tax Credit (CTC), direct cash aid accounts for about a fifth of all welfare.

Reality star Nadya Suleman has been labeled a welfare queen after she gave birth to eight children and had the California government assist her and her six other children. The realty star has been in the news for becoming a porn star to pay debts.
Mr. Sessions’ staff on the Budget Committee calculated that states contributed another $283 billion to low-income assistance — chiefly through Medicaid. Combined, that means the federal and state governments spent $1.03 trillion on welfare programs.

Richard Kogan, senior fellow at the liberal-leaning Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, said that while the dollar amounts for low-income assistance are growing, they are still about the same slice of the budget pie when viewed over the long run. He said the costs may have spiked during the recession but are projected to drop back to regular trends once the economy recovers.

“In short, whatever one thinks about the merits or costs of these programs, other than Medicaid they are contributing nothing to long-run budgetary pressures,” he said.

As for Medicaid, which has seen major spending increases, Mr. Kogan said even there it may be a savings.

“Medicaid provides health care at a noticeably cheaper price than Medicare does, and both are cheaper than the cost of private-sector health insurance,” he said. “The problem is not that the programs are badly designed — it is that the entire health care system in the U.S. is much more expensive than in any other advanced country.”

“Virtually all the rest is in the form of in-kind assistance: Medicaid, SNAP, WIC, housing vouchers, Pell grants, LIHEAP, and child care vouchers; or in the form of direct services, such as community health centers, Title 1 education, foster care, school lunch, and Head Start,” he said.

Rather than straight transfers, those other programs provide support for services Congress has deemed worthy of funding. SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or what used to be called food stamps; LIHEAP is the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program; WIC is the Women, Infants and Children nutrition program; and Pell Grants provide assistance for college costs.
Conservatives love to bully the poor and needy! They turn a blind eye when corporations want welfare!
The report comes as President Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney are fighting over the size and scope of government assistance.

Mr. Romney was damaged last month by caught-on-camera remarks in which he said 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government and see themselves as victims.

In Tuesday’s debate Mr. Romney blasted Mr. Obama for overseeing a 50 percent increase in the number of people on food stamps during his first term, which has risen from 32 million to 47 million.

But the two men also share some agreement on safety-net programs. In the debate Mr. Romney said he wants to increase the Pell Grant program to help low-income children attend college.

The CRS report looked at obligations for each program as its measure of spending. It included every program that had eligibility requirements that seemed designed chiefly to benefit those with lower incomes.

The report looked at programs that had obligations of at least $100 million in a fiscal year, which meant some small-dollar welfare assistance wasn't included.
A need for the safety net helps keep this from coming into your suburbs!
First thing, Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama) has issues with minorities. He was the key members of gridlock when President Barack Obama wanted Sonia Sotomayor nominated as his Supreme Court justice.

Senator Sessions' home state of Alabama is very illiterate and has one the highest rate in obesity. They're pretty dependent of federal assistance. The state had some major tornadoes ruin Tuscaloosa and Birmingham a few years back. The federal government has to help keep people from falling into the streets!

Even though there's some who take advantage of the government, it's likely those in corporations and federal office taking out the honeypot. The Republicans love when a defense contractor spends our hard earn payments to Westernized Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The Republicans would rather let corporations make billions, hand over fist! They don't care if the returning solider is having financial problems! They don't care about the laid off worker who spent his/her live working only to be forced out by outsourcing.

It's not fair and it's not right for Americans to treat others negatively because they're poor! But in a country of over 314 million people, it's freedom.

Again early voting hurts Mitt Romney!

If you're voting early, you have an opportunity to lay the hammer on him and the conservative agitating media.

VOTE NOW

Help put Barack Obama in the White House!

GOP Congressman Slams Blacks For Supporting Obama! This Guy Is A Dead Beat Daddy!

Joe Walsh (R-Illinois) thinks the Black community is stuck on the Democratic plantation!
Congressman Joe Walsh (R-Illinois) is right up there with the Tea Party Movement.

Stuck in his ways. Blaming the very society that voted his dumb ass in.

You got to love the Republicans and its allies in the conservative movement. In the mind of these people, the Black community is "brainwashed" by our "brotha" Barack Obama.

We'll support the devil if he was a Black man according to some of these people who support the Tea Party.

Nevermind the fact that a core number of extremists have made the rounds recently. And sure enough, the Republican Party embraces this.

A Neo-Nazi being selected in a Pennsylvania Republican committee. A staff member of Congresswoman Nan Hayworth (R-New York) saying that that it's okay to throw acid on female Democratic lawmakers who support birth control.

Congressman Joe Walsh is by far one of the most agitating members of the Republican Party. They are certainly going to write him off as well as fellow Tea Party Congressman Allen West (R-Florida).

Courtesy of YouTube

Walsh doubles down on statements like that when he talks to a town hall forum. According to the Chicago Daily Herald, Walsh told a townhall and then a local radio station:
“The Democratic Party promises groups of people everything,” the McHenry Tea Partyer said. “They want the Hispanic vote. They want Hispanics to be dependent on government, just like they got African Americans dependent on government.
Walsh goes on to say that civil rights activist Jesse Jackson “would be out of work if (blacks) weren’t dependent on government.”

Walsh’s remarks were caught on video and are being circulated by CREDO SuperPAC, the San Fransisco-based SuperPac that is actively working to defeat him in the November election.
In an interview Friday, Walsh said his statements “have nothing to do with race.”
“My shot, this had nothing to do with race. My shot was at the Democratic Party. Look, they’re the party of (big) government,” he said. “We’re at a really scary, dangerous time right now. We now in this country have more in the wagon than pulling the wagon.”
Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) the members of congress that includes Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota), Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado), Ron Paul (R-Texas), Allen West (R-Florida), Trent Franks (R-Arizona), Virginia Foxx (R-North Carolina) and Paul Broun (R-Georgia) are by far the most extreme members of this political party.

Either they're entranced or they're just plain ignorant, these politicians make it harder for Blacks, Hispanics, and other groups that normally support the Democratic Party join their ranks!

It's not racist for Joe Walsh to say these things. It's not stupid, either.

It's just how these people in the Republican Party think of the Black community, Hispanic/Latino community, President Barack Obama and those who support him.

They've wrapped their asses around the American flag in preparedness of a culture war. The culture war is an ongoing thing. Republicans wasted half of the 112th Congress catering to the extremists.

They'll blame President Barack Obama for everything. The president offers up solutions to fix the economy only to be either delayed or failed by members of the Republican Party.

They whitewash history. They know that George W. Bush is responsible for the economic mess, but they're quick to blame President Barack Obama for the economic turmoil.

The Republican Party play upon the fears of White voters pessimistic to a Black president.

Walsh was once considered one of the worst dead beat parents ever. He owed his former wife and children over $117,000 in unpaid child support. I guess this year he made some amends to his struggling family.

Walsh goes onto The O'Reilly Factor to defend his comments about "race hustling" Democrats like Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr (D-Illinois) and his father Jesse Jackson. He made the comment that Barack Obama, his liberal allies in the Democratic Party have kept Blacks stuck on the "plantation".

Conservatives Create Class Warfare Game| Republican Culture War In A Board Game!

Jillian Rayfield October 27, 2011, 5:55 AM 4300 69

There is no “Go” space in the anti-welfare board game “Obozo’s America,” but rest assured — you can still collect welfare benefits as you pass the “First Of The Month” space.

The game is called “OBOZO’S AMERICA: Why Bother Working for a Living?” with the tagline “The Most Timely and Original Board Game of the Decade!” The website describes it as “a fun fantasy board game based on the preposterous notion that a Marxist clown, running on the vague and shaky platform of hope and change, could become President of The United States.”

The object is to keep collecting benefits while avoiding the “Working Person’s Rut.” From the rather embarrassingly low-tech website:

Get your initial $1,000 cash grant at the First of the Month, then maneuver along Obozo’s Welfare Promenade. Get cash for your out-of-wedlock children. Draw from a stack of Welfare Benefit Cards. Get extra cash from Saturday Night crimes: Gambling, Armed Robbery, Drugs, and Prostitution. Play the lottery and the horses. Get your live-in a job on the Government Cakewalk. Experience the Jail Jaunt. Avoid landing on one of those dreaded “Get a Job” blocks forcing you onto the Working Person’s Rut (Somebody has to pay for Obozo’s Welfare Promenade). 50 Welfare Benefit Cards. 50 Working Person’s Burden Cards. Lots of funny money.

The site features the game’s mascot “Obozo The Marxist Clown” — who also graces the game’s fake currency — and boasts of the “welfare benefit cards” like “you lose perspective and apply for a job, but are denied it. Oboze says: Scream ‘racism’ until welfare lawyer gets you $1,000 settlement.”

In the Economy version of the game, you get “a stack of over a half-a-million dollars in play money (we’re talking serious welfare fraud here), 50 Welfare Benefit Cards, 50 Working Person’s Burden Cards, 30 Out-of-Wedlock Children.” The Deluxe version has a spill-proof surface and the out-of-wedlock children are easier to cut out of the paper they’re printed on.

Here’s the play money:

And the board game:

You can see the full-size board as a pdf here.

The game was created by Ron Pramschufer and Bob Johnson, who run Hammerhead Enterprises in Maryland, and was originally released in 1980 as “Public Assistance: Why Bother Working for a Living?”

“We didn’t invent this game, government liberals did,” Johnson said then. “We just put it in a box.”

In a press release Wednesday, Johnson announced that the game was coming back, claiming it “was forced off the retail market in the 1980s by government officials working with the NAACP, NOW, and other welfare ‘rights’ groups.”

“We intended the game as a parody of government liberalism, with a special focus on the able-bodied loaferism, welfare fraud, and social chaos its domestic policies promote,” Johnson wrote in 2009. “Threatened by the game’s popularity, embarrassed liberals successfully implemented a nationwide government plan to ‘remove the game from the marketplace.’”

The game was entangled in a number of lawsuits after several government officials and the NAACP criticized it as racist and sexist for its depiction of “welfare queens” and other stereotypes. Pramschufer and Johnson first sued (sub req.) a New York City official who sent a letter to retailers urging them not to sell the game, saying “keeping this game off the shelves of your stores would be a genuine public service.” They lost the case and their ultimate appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court, but they also filed a suit against the NAACP and NOW, according to the AP (sub req.).

But in the 90s when they re-released the game — complete with a new “Criminal Justice” side of the board — and claimed it had been banned, the Attorney General of Maryland said there was never a ban on the game. “The state wouldn’t have had the authority to ban this game whatsoever,” then-AG Kathy Schultz said (sub req.), according to the Washington Times.

Florida Welfare Drug Testing Law Blocked By Federal Judge | The Republican Culture War

ORLANDO, Fla. — A federal judge temporarily blocked Florida's new law that requires welfare applicants to pass a drug test before receiving benefits on Monday, saying it may violate the Constitution's ban on unreasonable searches and seizures.

Judge Mary Scriven ruled in response to a lawsuit filed on behalf of a 35-year-old Navy veteran and single father who sought the benefits while finishing his college degree, but refused to take the test. The judge said there was a good chance plaintiff Luis Lebron would succeed in his challenge to the law based on the Fourth Amendment, which protects individuals from being unfairly searched.

The drug test can reveal a host of private medical facts about the individual, Scriven wrote, adding that she found it "troubling" that the drug tests are not kept confidential like medical records. The results can also be shared with law enforcement officers and a drug abuse hotline.

"This potential interception of positive drug tests by law enforcement implicates a `far more substantial' invasion of privacy than in ordinary civil drug testing cases," Scriven said.

The judge also said Florida didn't show that the drug testing program meets criteria for exceptions to the Fourth Amendment.

The injunction will stay in place until the judge can hold a full hearing on the matter. She didn't say when that hearing will be scheduled.

More than two-dozen states have also proposed drug-testing recipients of welfare or other government assistance, but Florida was the first state to enact such a law in more than a decade. Should any of those states pass a law and face a court challenge, Scriven's ultimate ruling would likely serve as a legal precedent.

The law's proponents include Gov. Rick Scott, who said during his campaign the measure would save $77 million. It's unclear how he arrived at those figures. A spokesman for the Florida Department of Children and Families deferred all comments to the governor's office.

"Drug testing welfare recipients is just a common-sense way to ensure that welfare dollars are used to help children and get parents back to work," said Jackie Schutz, a spokeswoman for Scott. "The governor obviously disagrees with the decision and he will evaluate his options regarding when to appeal."

Earlier this year, Scott also ordered drug testing of new state workers and spot checks of existing state employees under him. But testing was suspended after the American Civil Liberties Union also challenged that policy in a separate lawsuit.

Nearly 1,600 applicants have refused to take the test since testing began in mid-July, but they aren't required to say why. Thirty-two applicants failed the test and more than 7,000 have passed, according to the Department of Children and Families. The majority of positives were for marijuana.

State officials said Monday that applicants previously denied benefits for testing positive or refusing the test could reapply immediately. The Department of Children and Families will also approve all pending applications that await drug test results.

Supporters had argued applicants skipped the test because they knew they would have tested positive for drugs. Applicants must pay $25 to $35 for the test and are reimbursed by the state if they pass. It's unclear if the state has saved money.

Under the Temporary Assistance For Needy Families program, the state gives $180 a month for one person or $364 for a family of four.

Those who test positive for drugs are ineligible for the cash assistance for one year, though passing a drug course can cut that period in half. If they fail a second time, they are ineligible for three years.

Lebron, who is the sole caretaker of his 4-year-old son, said he's "happy that the judge stood up for me and my rights and said the state can't act without a reason or suspicion."

The ACLU says Florida was the first to enact such a law since Michigan tried more than a decade ago. Michigan's random drug testing program for welfare recipients lasted five weeks in 1999 before it was halted by a judge, kicking off a four-year legal battle that ended with an appeals court ruling it unconstitutional.

$20 and not a penny more! - Minnesota GOP seek provisions to eliminate welfare!

Minnesota GOP wants it to be illegal to carry cash if you're poor

Kurt Daudt wants to crack down on cash for poor people

For a political party that keeps harping on Democrats for trying to control people's lives, Republicans in Minnesota sure are doing some weird things. First, they want government to control decisions made between pregnant women and their physicians. Now they want to make sure that poor people never have more than $20 in their pockets. Poor people can't be trusted with cash, it seems.

A bill introduced by Rep. Kurt Daudt (R-Crown) would prohibit people who use EBT cards--government assistance on plastic--from withdrawing cash at ATMs with the cards, except for $20 per month.

We haven't been able to reach Daudt yet, but Angel Buechner of the Welfare Rights Committee is not amused.

"The Welfare Rights Committee would like to state that this Bill, House File 171, is not based in any common sense or fiscal responsibility," Buechner said at this week's hearing on the bill. "It is appears to be based on knee-jerk, ignorant bias and a desire to stigmatize the poor."

The bill (see the text here) would require cashiers to ask for photo ID and prohibit EBT-card holders from purchasing alcohol or cigs.

As things stand now, people using EBT cards are allowed to withdraw cash, which works out well for them because a lot of stores don't have EBT hook-ups. If the bill passes, all those stores would have to get EBT connections, or poor people using the cards would have a limit on where they could shop.

We reached Jodi Boyne, director of public affairs for House Republican Caucus, and she confirmed that the intent of the bill is to crack down on public money used for bad stuff--those alcohol and cigs again--and actually, in some cases, at a casino, according to this KSTP news report.

"There is documented evidence that these cards have been used for fraudulent purposes, and it's looking at addressing that," Boyne says.

The KSTP report was the reason Daudt launched his bill--watch this video to see the report--and he is not the only Republican supporting it. A whole host of his fellow GOP-ers have signed on, as you can see here.
