Phyllis Schlafly Passed Away!

Another figure in the conservative movement is gone.

Another conservative bigot passes away. I think for the better. They have nominated Donald Trump as their Republican nominee. A business/media mogul who has maintained this movement of extremists. She didn't live to see the day Donald Trump could either become our 45th President of The United States or another picture on the Washed Up Presidential Candidates Museum in Norton, Kansas.

A woman who embraced Trump's campaign died today at the age of 92. A few weeks after celebrating her birthday.

Phyllis Schlafly. an iconic conservative activist and business mogul passed away in St. Louis.

Schlafly once called feminist, "a bunch of bitter women seeking a constitutional cure for their personal problems". She believed women should find their greatest fulfillment at home with their family.

She famously opposed the Equal Rights Amendment. She was the founder of the Eagle Forum. The forum was staunchly anti-feminist, anti-gay, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim and anti-Black.

She was a deeply polarizing figure. She would call for activism against the Equal Rights Amendment.

She would fail at achieving the goal. The Congress passed it and 35 of 38 states ratified the amendment.

She was survived by six children and many grandchildren.

Conservative Outrage Over Macy Gray's Trump Dig!

Macy Gray releases a politically charged holiday song. It dings Donald Trump.

Macy Gray released "All I Want for Christmas" on iTunes this month. The song is pretty awesome if you're a progressive and want Congress to get President Barack Obama's agenda done.

The song pretty much takes a stance on issues that are considered hot potatoes in the junk food media. Cue the conservative outrage.

Here's the lyrics. Read it carefully and then peep the commentary below.

[Verse 1]
All I want for Christmas is a whole bunch of stuff
But anything that you can buy me won’t be enough
Because everything I’m hoping for is intangible
Like free health care and gun control

[Pre-Chorus]
If you wanna make the world a better place
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)
If you wanna peaceful world for Christmas day
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)

[Chorus]
Christmas is here
I know what I want this year
Presents and toys are fine
But I got bigger things in mind
Santa can you swing more love? More peace?
Because that’s what everybody needs
Come save the world with me

[Verse 2]
Santa Claus stop by the ghetto too
And bring lots of opportunity with you
Bring the day the government will realize
We’ll all be happier when it’s legalized
So immigrate, stop the hate, let’s educate
The more we do, the less we will incarcerate
7 billion people just below the moon
And if we come together, oh, the things that we could do

[Pre-Chorus]
If you wanna make the world a better place
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)
If you wanna peaceful world for Christmas day
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)

[Chorus]
Christmas is here
I know what I want this year
Presents and toys are fine
But I got bigger things in mind
Santa can you swing more love? More peace?
Because that’s what everybody needs
Come save the world with me

[Interlude - Kids Talk]
What do you want for Christmas?
I just want peace for everybody on earth
What about you?
I want hope for everybody
Tayjon?
I think I want homes for the homeless
Alina?
I want water for everybody
Yaay

[Bridge]
All I want for Christmas is to have a chance
So please take care of the environment
Take Mr. Gore seriously
And do what you can to stop global warming
No matter what they say, Barack you did real good
I hope that your successor
Does the things he or she should
That Mr. Trump, he’s an entertaining guy
But let's face it, really is he qualified?

[Pre-Chorus]
If you wanna make the world a better place
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)
If you wanna peaceful world for Christmas day
Say alright (alright) alright (alright)

[Chorus]
Christmas is here
I know what I want this year
Presents and toys are fine
But I got bigger things in mind
Santa can you swing more love? More peace?
Because that’s what everybody needs
Come save the world with me

You see that she's taking a dig at Republican frontrunner Donald Trump. Macy Gray also wanted the country to recognize climate change. She said that President Barack Obama's agenda is good.

Many conservatives will blast the song for being "liberal indoctrination" and "Hollywood elitists" talking down "real Americans".

Macy Gray is well aware of the outrage that will follow her.

She doesn't care about the criticism. Her job is put out songs for her fans. I am certain her fans will be happy to hear it.

Conservatives will get even more outraged. She did the song called "B.O.B.". The song talks about that little thing that keeps women in their vibe. If you want to know what I'm talking about. Click here.

Lesley Gore Passes Away!

Leslie Gore Batman 1967.JPG
The famed party song "It's My Party" singer passed away on Monday.

We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Leslie Gore.

Gore was born Lesley Sue Goldstein in Brooklyn, New York City. She was raised in Tenafly, New Jersey.

Her father, Leo Gore, was a wealthy manufacturer of children's clothes and swimwear.

Lesley Gore, the singer-songwriter who scored a huge hit as a 16-year-old with "It's My Party" in 1963, has died at the age of 68. Gore, who grew up in New Jersey and was discovered by Quincy Jones, followed up the Grammy-nominated chart-topper with hits including "She's a Fool," "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows," and "You Don't Own Me," which became a feminist anthem, reports the Los Angeles Times. Gore and her brother Michael were nominated for an Oscar for writing "Out Here on My Own" for 1980's Fame. She released Ever Since, her first album in 30 years, in 2005 and had been working on a stage adaptation of her life, Variety reports. She also played Catwoman's sidekick Pussycat in the 1960s Batman TV series.

ECR Music Group chief Blake Morgan, who produced Gore's last album, says he had known her since his childhood. "Lesley was like my rock 'n' roll godmother," he tells the Times. "It was a very courageous record for her to make, and a very defiant one." Gore came out as a lesbian when she hosted a few episodes of the PBS series In the Life, which dealt with gay and lesbian issues. "She was a wonderful human being—caring, giving, a great feminist, great woman, great human being, great humanitarian," Lois Sasson, her partner of 33 years, tells the AP. Sasson says Gore, a nonsmoker, died of lung cancer yesterday at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan.

Womanist Musings: George Sodini: Misogynist and Racist

Womanist Musings: George Sodini: Misogynist and Racist

Past posting from Womanist Musings regarding George Sodini's misogynistic racism.  I see the similarities between yesterday's Santa Barbara shooter and Mr. Sodini.   Mr Sodini's right-wing racism and Eliot

Rodger's.  This serves as proof that the war on women, working/middle class people, and people of Color are real and deadly!

According to Renee Martin:

White women and people of color are routinely referred to as angry and castrating and yet the violence of White men is always viewed as an anomaly.  Limbaugh recently referred to Obama as an angry Black man for daring initially to speak truth to power regarding the Gates incident, however the ways in which White men use hate speech and violence to maintain their undeserved privilege is never seen for what it truly is – fear and anger run amok.
Sodini may be only one man but his body represents much of the anger that White men are currently experiencing at the thought that power dynamics could possibly change.  Some may not go as far as to murder innocent people, however just as one would not turn your back on a wounded animal, so to is it dangerous to take the threat that they pose lightly.  This is not about how Sodini felt as man but specifically how he identified as a White man.

Three Waves--Each One White-capped: A Racist History of Feminism

Ain't I a Woman?  Are we WOC woman or not?

Once again, Julian Real is right on the money on this one.  Again and again, the needs of WOC, working class women, immigrant women, poor women, disabled women are disregarded by the mainstream feminist movement.
