Comedian Reggie McFadden has passed away at the age of 57.
McFadden, who got his break on HBO's Def Comedy Jam and worked on the Fox sketch series In Living Color, has died.
McFadden's sister told The Hollywood Reporter that the U.S. State Department notified the family that the comedian died in Tanzania, where he had been living for almost two decades.
His family told the media outlet that they do not know when he died or the cause.
He was 57 years old.
According to Forbes, McFadden performed stand-up on several TV shows, apart from Def Comedy Jam.
Shows included Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, Tough Crowd with Quinn, and Last Call with Carson Daly.
McFadden also played various characters in the fifth season of creator Keenan Ivory Wayans’ sketch comedy series In Living Color from 1993 to 1994.
USA Today said he also appeared in "Little Nicky," the Adam Sandler movie comedy, and played Officer Burt, a neighbor of Larry David's character, on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
Born on Nov. 30, 1968, McFadden grew up in Brooklyn and decided to pursue comedy as a way to escape living in the projects, according to a bio posted online.
