The Republicans have the White House with President Donald J. Trump. The Congress is controlled by House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana and Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota, both Republicans.

Yet, they cannot and will not get anything done. All the Republicans do is scapegoat the issues on things or individuals.
A government shutdown is imment.
I got a 45% chance of government staying open.
Let's rewind back to 2018 when on the cusp of Christmas, the government shutdown when Trump was serving his first chaotic term.
Trump hopped on social media to start blaming the Democrats when the government shutdown the first time. Trump said he will personally take responsibility if the government shuts down. Of course, he is a habitual liar.
Democrats, it is time to come together and put the SAFETY of the AMERICAN PEOPLE before POLITICS. Border security must become a #1 priority! pic.twitter.com/Wck6UpQGil— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 20, 2018
Thank you to our GREAT Republican Members of Congress for your VOTE to fund Border Security and the Wall. The final numbers were 217-185 and many have said that the enthusiasm was greater than they have ever seen before. So proud of you all. Now on to the Senate!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Soon to be Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, last week live from the Oval Office, that the Republicans didn’t have the votes for Border Security. Today the House Republicans voted and won, 217-185. Nancy does not have to apologize. All I want is GREAT BORDER SECURITY!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Senator Mitch McConnell should fight for the Wall and Border Security as hard as he fought for anything. He will need Democrat votes, but as shown in the House, good things happen. If enough Dems don’t vote, it will be a Democrat Shutdown! House Republicans were great yesterday!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
The Democrats are trying to belittle the concept of a Wall, calling it old fashioned. The fact is there is nothing else’s that will work, and that has been true for thousands of years. It’s like the wheel, there is nothing better. I know tech better than anyone, & technology.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
.....on a Border is only effective in conjunction with a Wall. Properly designed and built Walls work, and the Democrats are lying when they say they don’t. In Israel the Wall is 99.9% successful. Will not be any different on our Southern Border! Hundreds of $Billions saved!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
No matter what happens today in the Senate, Republican House Members should be very proud of themselves. They flew back to Washington from all parts of the World in order to vote for Border Security and the Wall. Not one Democrat voted yes, and we won big. I am very proud of you!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
The Democrats, whose votes we need in the Senate, will probably vote against Border Security and the Wall even though they know it is DESPERATELY NEEDED. If the Dems vote no, there will be a shutdown that will last for a very long time. People don’t want Open Borders and Crime!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
House Republican Vote, 217-185.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Shutdown today if Democrats do not vote for Border Security!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Mitch, use the Nuclear Option and get it done! Our Country is counting on you!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Thank you @SteveDaines for being willing to go with the so-called nuclear option in order to win on DESPERATELY NEEDED Border Security! Have my total support.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
The Democrats now own the shutdown!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
A design of our Steel Slat Barrier which is totally effective while at the same time beautiful! pic.twitter.com/sGltXh0cu9— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Some of the many Bills that I am signing in the Oval Office right now. Cancelled my trip on Air Force One to Florida while we wait to see if the Democrats will help us to protect America’s Southern Border! pic.twitter.com/ws6LYhKcKl— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 21, 2018
Many House Republicans were defeated in because of ineffective governance. I see the reasons why Republicans are pushing for gerrymandering and voter restrictions. The Democrats aren't doing well either. They are still pushing for centrist policies and distancing themselves from progressive policies.
The U.S. Senate adjourned Wednesday without reaching a deal on extending federal funding, meaning the U.S. government will shut down at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday. It will mark the nation’s first federal government shutdown in almost seven years.
While furloughs of employees have been part of previous shutdowns, federal agencies under President Donald J. Trump have also been urged to consider more permanent reductions in force for programs “not consistent with the President’s priorities.”
Democratic senators voted down House-passed legislation to keep the government running for the next seven weeks and Republicans said they would not negotiate on the bill, leaving Congress at an uncertain impasse.
Senators will return to work Wednesday morning. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says he’s hoping that enough Democrats will change their votes to reopen soon.
If there is a government shutdown, Republicans will get most of the blame. The American people do not care about Charlie Kirk or culture wars. These are constant distractions to inflict harm on the already struggling workers in federal government. Trump wants this because he can save billions and help keep his tax cuts balanced at the expense of millions of federal workers.
The economy is the No. 1 issue besides protecting democracy, stopping gun violence, protecting freedoms and stopping extremism.
Emboldened by conspiracy theories and disinformation by foreign adversaries like Israel and Russia, the Republican Party has swayed from its "law and order" stance to "woah is me, why aren't they doing it to the other side?"
Trump’s budget office posted a letter with instructions from Director Russ Vought immediately after the failed Senate vote.
“Affected agencies should now execute their plans,” Vought wrote.
He told employees to come to work Wednesday to “undertake orderly shutdown activities.”
