Is DatPiff Shutting Down?

They ain't gone, yet!

The mixtape website that put Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Youngboy NBA, French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, DaBaby, Lil Baby, NLE Choppa and numerous others on the map of hip-hop and pop culture maybe shutting down after 18 years.

Word on the street DatPiff, the No. 1 in hip-hop mixtapes is officially shutting down.

The company said that they're not shutting down. But it was not convincing.

Despite the rumors, we are happy to report that we will still be supplying you with all the mixtapes you love. We're working through technical issues on our site and app, but still actively update our youtube! Thanks for all the love and concerns but we promise, we are still here

Folks are now getting mixtapes from Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music and YouTube.

A key feature of DatPiff is that unregistered users are allowed to download any mixtape uploaded to the site that has been Sponsored - i.e. funded by the artist or label free of charge. Registered users are permitted a limited number of downloads of non-sponsored mixtapes per day. Premium paid users have an unlimited number of downloads of any mixtape. Mixtapes may be streamed by any user. Premium content may also be purchased.

From rumors of the Android app being pulled to the website looking like a 1996 version of Yahoo Geocities, the rumors are loud and folks are paying tribute to the platform.

Datpiff has 2.29 million subscribers and more than 1.6 billion views on YouTube. YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Boosie Badazz, Nicki Minaj, Moneybagg Yo, and NLE Choppa have some of the most watched videos on the verified page.

Lil Wayne’s iconic mixtape run is closely connected to Datpiff. For example, the platform offered early access to the Young Money leader’s DJ Drama-hosted Dedication 5 in 2013. Other Lil Wayne projects, like 2020’s No Ceilings 3, dropped on the app as well.

Datpiff also released 2012’s Dreamchasers 2 by Maybach Music Group-backed rapper Meek Mill. Dreamchasers 2 reportedly racked up 2.5 million downloads in 24 hours. The website temporarily crashed at the time.
