Still a toss up. |
Vote.
Ignore the noise.
Vote to save democracy.
Vote for John Fetterman over Mehmet Oz. Think about your family members who suffered a medical emergency and how folks like Oz are treating Fetterman. Think about how you feel about how callous these folks are when they are using dirty politics as a way to win.
Uh, yeah!
We're stuck with him.
Yesterday, Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Dr. Mehmet Oz faced off in their only debate. The two are running for the open U.S. senate seat in Pennsylvania.
Both are deeply unpopular.
Fetterman won the nomination cause of the noise of Bernie Sanders and the white leftists who pushed him over Rep. Conor Lamb (D-PA) and spoiler Malcolm Kenyatta. Lamb had the support of the Black vote. It did not stop Fetterman who had an easy ride through the primary. He had a stroke a week before the primary and has been recovering since.
Fetterman who ran in 2016 and failed to get the nomination is now the nominee for the Democrats and could be a game changer if he wins.
Republicans are seizing upon his health as a way to scare up voters. They also are running on the Democrat being pro-crime while driving on the narrative he chased a Black man with a gun who he thought was committing a crime. They claim he values the noise of the far left while saying he is pandering to the middle.
They say he had a stroke and makes him ineligible for the office. But John McCain, Strom Thurmond, Mark Kirk, Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) and Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) had strokes while in office.
They continued on.
A stroke is a medical condition in which poor blood flow to the brain causes cell death. There are two main types of stroke: ischemic, due to lack of blood flow, and hemorrhagic, due to bleeding. Both cause parts of the brain to stop functioning properly.
My late grandfather had a stroke. My late uncle had a stroke.
It is a factor that affects family members, friends and those in public. What makes Republicans so fucking stupid is the fact they act like its a prerequisite to be 100% healthy and able bodied to run for office.
Texas governor is in a wheelchair. Karen Abbott broke his spine after falling off a ladder.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) is a double amputee who lost her legs fighting in Iraq.
Does it make them less able to perform duties if they have a disability.
Oz is a Turkish–American television presenter, author, politician, professor emeritus, and retired cardiothoracic surgeon. He is the Republican nominee in the 2022 United States Senate election in Pennsylvania and is the first Muslim candidate to be nominated by either major party for U.S. Senate. He should know better and should emphasize with Fetterman.
But listening to Washed Up 45 and Softball Hannity is a gift for Oz.
Oz beaten the Black candidate who had more momentum. She lost because of Softball Hannity being an asshole.
The faceoff also put Fetterman's stroke symptoms back in the spotlight as well as what he said was his resilience and recovery from, as he put it, a notable but not disqualifying challenge.
Many eyes were on Fetterman's health as he took the stage. He spoke haltingly and sometimes inconsistently throughout the debate, even more so than he has at campaign events since returning to the trail in August, three months after his stroke. At times he seemed to struggle to complete his answers and articulate specific policy goals to the debate questions.
Two monitors were hung above the heads of the moderators to transcribe both the questions and Oz's answers in real time as an aid for Fetterman's auditory processing issues, which outside neurologists have said are no indication of cognitive issues for stroke survivors.
Fetterman has worked with a speech therapist; his doctor said last week he was ready for "full duty" in office, though he has declined to release his medical records.
