Voters were left shaking their heads after this debate. |
One woman in the Zoom meeting said that Donald J. Trump came off like a crackhead.
Out of 15 undecided voters in a virtual focus group conducted by Luntz, four said they were supporting Democratic nominee Joe Biden after watching the debate and two backed President Donald Trump. The rest remained on the fence. There were nine men and six women and they hailed from Arizona, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Nevada.
“You just saw 90 minutes. How can you still be undecided?” an incredulous Luntz asked. “Please explain that to me?”
Despite their indecisiveness, most described Trump in a negative light, including one of the participants who was leaning toward voting for the president. The voters characterized Trump as “unhinged,” “arrogant,” “forceful," a “bully,” “chaotic” and “un-American.”
When asked to describe Biden they offered: “better than expected,” “politician,” “compassion,” “coherent,” and a “nice guy lacking vision.”
Like many who watched that debate, it was terrible. Chris Wallace failed at trying to maintain order and keeping the focus on issues. With Trump spinning around with bullshit, his debate performance may have energized his base. It certainly pissed off his Democratic opponent and those doing analysis of it.
Also the U.S. Commission on Presidential Debates have now vowed to never have that happen again.
Trump's behavior was typical. |
Conservatives are running on this narrative that Joe Biden is senile, wearing a wire, incoherent, on drugs and getting a fair shake from the junk food media.
Trust me, Biden hasn't gotten fair coverage. Only positive polls. But like most, Biden ain't going into this election thinking he's going to win this election. He is running an online ground game because of the coronavirus.
Trump wants to hold rallies despite his own Centers for Disease Control warning these events could spread the coronavirus.
Over 240,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus and there are 8 million people who were infected by this.
A former reality television star turned President of the United States versus the former Vice President of the United States turned Democratic nominee.
The second debate will be a townhall format so I expect it to be another controversial themed event.
