Andre Braugher, who played no-nonsense Capt. Raymond Holt on the television comedy series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” died Monday his publicist said. He was 61.
The death of Braugher, who also won an Emmy for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on “Homicide: Life on Street,” was confirmed on Tuesday by his publicist, Jennifer Allen, Variety reported. Allen said the actor died after a brief illness.
Braugher starred in 153 episodes of “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” from 2013 until 2021, according to IMDb.com.
He also starred in 100 episodes of “Homicide: Life on the Street” during the show’s run from 1993 to 1998, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Braugher won his first Emmy Award in 1998 for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role in “Homicide: Life on the Street,” the entertainment news website reported. He won his second Emmy for his work on the 2006 miniseries, “Thief,” Variety reported.
The actor had more than 100 television and film credits during his 35-year career, according to Deadline.
The Chicago-born actor graduated from Stanford University and then attended Juilliard School in the drama division, according to Variety.
He began his professional acting career as Telly Savalas’ detective sidekick in the television movie revivals of “Kojak” beginning in 1989. His breakout role came in 1989 in the Civil War-era film “Glory.” He played Thomas Searles, a free Black man who joined the first Black regiment, according to Variety.

Braugher also had roles in feature films, including “City of Angels,” “Frequency” and “Poseidon,” Variety reported. He also appeared in “The Tuskegee Airmen” and “Get on the Bus,” according to Deadline.
He also appeared as a former Philadelphia police officer-turned-cab driver in the television series, “Hack,” from 2002 to 2004, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Braugher also played a character based on a real-life doctor on the 2000-01 series “Gideon’s Crossing.”
Braugher was married for more than 30 years to his “Homicide” co-star Ami Brabson, according to The Associated Press. They had three sons.

She and two other university presidents went to Congress to testify about the number of pro Palestinian protests and far right member Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) baited them into questions about antisemitism on campuses.
Of course, most of these protests are peaceful. But a few pro Israeli protesters and a Zionist propaganda that equates itself to Judaism forced one of them to resign.

Gay despite the calls and pressure from Stefanik and others remains and Harvard University is standing by her. Gay is an African American woman. She has gotten death threats and racist intimidation from several online trolls. The Zionists are also attacking her in Israel.
Kornbluth is also staying at MIT. She is facing pressure to resign and she also is getting death threats and calls for not being Jewish enough. She is faced attacks from Zionists and several claim that she betrayed her faith by allowing protests continue.
Critics say Magill, Gay and MIT president Sally Kornbluth failed to convince Congress and the public that they can adequately protect their Jewish students. Those concerns largely erupted after the university presidents were asked whether "calling for the genocide of Jews" would violate their school's code of conduct. Many felt their answers were too legalistic and lacked moral clarity at a time when both antisemitism and anti-Arab and anti-Muslim incidents are on the rise in the country.
But not everyone is in favor of their departure. A growing number of students and faculty oppose the calls for the presidents to go, arguing that such measures go against school values around independence and freedom speech.
The White House also took the side of Stefanik. So that means President Joe Biden is losing support among college educated students and certainly these women won't vote for him come 2024.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates issued a statement Wednesday criticizing Gay, Magill and Kornbluth’s responses for not going far enough to condemn antisemitism on campuses.
“It’s unbelievable that this needs to be said: calls for genocide are monstrous and antithetical to everything we represent as a country,” he said. “Any statements that advocate for the systematic murder of Jews are dangerous and revolting — and we should all stand firmly against them, on the side of human dignity and the most basic values that unite us as Americans.”

Magill called for a review of Penn’s policies, which she said have long been guided by the U.S. Constitution but need to be “clarified and evaluated” as hate spreads across campus and around the world “in a way not seen in years.”
In a statement posted Wednesday by Harvard on X, formerly Twitter, Gay condemned calls for violence against Jewish students.
“Let me be clear: Calls for violence or genocide against the Jewish community, or any religious or ethnic group are vile, they have no place at Harvard, and those who threaten our Jewish students will be held to account,” Gay wrote Wednesday.

The resignation of Project Veritas CEO Hannah Giles. It looks like she will be heading back to Texas to raise her children, go to martial arts class, paint, raise chickens, organize her stamps, grow her organic vegetables, go on dates with her husband and retire her hooker heels.

Giles said Monday she has stepped down from her role at the right-wing group “effective immediately,” after discovering evidence that the organization has engaged in “past illegalities.”
“Though I had high hopes when I joined the organizations, I stepped into an unsalvageable mess — one wrought with strong evidence of past illegality and past financial improprieties,” Giles wrote in a post on X. “Once such evidence was discovered, I brought the information to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.”
Project Veritas did not immediately respond to a CNN request for comment.
The right-wing group, which was created by James O’Keefe in 2010, is known for its selectively edited undercover sting videos that target journalists and progressive groups, including CNN and The New York Times. The edited videos published by Project Veritas often champion disinformation and conspiracy theories — and have been further circulated by Fox News and other right-wing media organizations to help grow the group’s sphere of influence.

Giles was appointed to the top job in June 2023, four months after the organization’s previous chief executive, O’Keefe, was ousted from the group.
The removal of O’Keefe from the nonprofit organization that he founded came after an internal memo signed by members of the staff and presented to the group’s board alleged that O’Keefe was “outright cruel” to his employees. Project Veritas later said James “spent an excessive amount of donor funds” on “personal luxuries,” including $150,000 in black car services and a chartered flight.
In August, the Westchester County, New York, district attorney’s office announced it was investigating the allegations against O’Keefe.
O'Keefe and Giles were associated with the late Andrew Breitbart. They became infamous for doing the ACORN Pimp and Prostitute scam. Giles would dress normal when doing her "sting" operation but on television she dressed like a hoe.
At first, I thought she repudiated her past. She apologized to the people affected by the ACORN sting operations. She, O'Keefe and Breitbart were ordered to pay damages to several former ACORN workers.
The Atlanta Police arrest a woman who tried to set the childhood home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
It was a Black woman who was a military veteran. I am guessing the far right is willing to blame Democrats or assume the politics of the woman. The woman had known mental issues.
Laneisha Shantrice Henderson, 26, has been charged with attempted arson and interfering with government property after she was seen on camera pouring the flammable liquid out of a large red fuel container and onto the porch of the historic wooden property at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
The footage also shows the woman — who was dressed in all-black clothing — dousing plants and emptying the liquid against the windows of the Auburn Avenue house, which is located just blocks from the King Center, King National Historical Park and the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She was stopped in her tracks by two tourists and then apprehended by two off-duty NYPD cops until Atlanta police arrived on the scene and arrested her.
The woman, who is understood to suffer from mental health issues, was transported to Grady Detention Center for evaluation before being transferred to Fulton County Jail, police said.

It is unclear why she intended to burn the building down. She could also face federal charges in connection with the incident, according to Fox 5.
Zachary Eugene Kempf, from Utah, who shot the shocking video and is one of the two tourists who stopped Henderson, said he was in Atlanta for work reasons when he decided to visit the house. He began recording this footage as he noticed the woman pouring gasoline around the house.
"She seemed a little irritated and on edge," Kempf told Fox 5.
Kempf said that when Henderson came down the porch steps, he told her to stop, and he then blocked her repeated attempts to go back up.
"She was never violent or aggressive with me, but she kept trying to get past, and I kept blocking her," he told Storyful.
Kempf said Henderson never responded when he asked her what she was doing.
Henderson then threw the empty canister into the bushes and grabbed a lighter that she had left in the grass next to the porch, Kempf told The New York Times. He then called 911.
Kempf then yelled at two men down the street for help. They happened to be two off-duty NYPD officers, and they then apprehended Henderson until Atlanta Police officers arrived at the scene. The NYPD cops were in town to visit the landmark.

The video also shows one of the NYPD cops holding Henderson down on the ground with her hands behind her back. She is then escorted away by Atlanta police looking glum and not saying anything.
Kempf said that Henderson’s family also arrived on the scene and said they had been looking for her, according to the Times. Her relatives described her as a veteran who was experiencing mental distress.
Atlanta Fire Department Battalion Chief Jerry DeBerry told reporters that, after the fuel was poured, the home could have caught fire in a matter of seconds. The fire department's HAZMAT team worked to clean up the gasoline on the property.
A Chevrolet sedan, believed to be the woman’s car, was also seized by police.
The home is currently under renovation and closed to visitors until 2025.

The Dec. 6 shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Three people were killed, and three additional people were wounded. Two of the wounded were police officers. The perpetrator was killed in a shootout with police.
The shooter arrived at the University of Nevada campus at around 11:30 and was armed with a legally purchased Taurus 9mm handgun and 11 loaded magazines. At 11:45 a.m. PST, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a call about a shooter in the Frank and Estella Beam Hall. Officers reportedly entered the hall after about a minute from the first 911 call. The shooter reportedly started on the fourth floor of the hall and made his way down several other floors. A witness in the hall said that he and others were confused after an alarm went off in the building, but evacuated after hearing someone scream "there's a gun".
Eight minutes later, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas posted a Twitter message that police were responding to reports of gunshots, warning students at the Beam Hall to "evacuate to a safe area." Approximately twenty minutes later, the university reported additional gunshots at the Student Union building.
The Las Vegas Raiders will hold a vigil for the lives lost in the University of Nevada Las Vegas mass shooting. The victims were identified as Naoko Takemaru, Cha-Jan "Jerry" Chang and Patricia Navarro-Velez. They were killed during a shooting on campus on Wednesday. Takemaru oversaw UNLV's Japanese Studies program while Chang and Navarro-Velez were both professors in the business school.
The terrorist is a former worker at UNLV. So this was a disgruntled worker.
The terrorist was identified. He had served as a tenured associate professor of business at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina from 2001 to 2017 and also served as an adjunct professor of business at Roseman University of Health Sciences in Henderson, Nevada from 2018 to 2022. He had applied to be a professor at various schools throughout Nevada, including the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, but all his applications were unsuccessful. According to his former employers, the terrorist resigned from East Carolina University as a tenured assistant professor, and lost his job at Roseman when the school discontinued the program in which he taught.
The terrorist maintained a "target list" of people against whom he was seeking retribution, included colleagues from his former employer, East Carolina University. Police later confirmed that none of the victims of the shooting were on the "target list".
Past students at East Carolina claimed that he fixated on negative reviews by students and would claim to know who they were and point out specific seats in the classroom. The terrorist was very active on social media, with online writings showing an interest in Las Vegas and conspiracy theories. He posted to his personal website conspiracy theories focusing on Powerful Organizations Bent on Global Domination, with the Trilateral Commission being an example of one such organization.
The No. 1 issue in the United States is gun violence. A problem that never seems to be solved through federal legislation and state legislation. According to the Republican Party, National Rifle Association, Gun Owner's of America, some Democrats and extremists love the Second Amendment. Of course, they want to silence dissent when it comes to stopping gun violence and opposition to Israel's genocide in Palestine.
Three professors lose their lives to a racist.
What happens is we cover it for a few days, get reaction from President Joe Biden, a state governor or a mayor about the latest mass shooting in the country.
We talk about the weapon of choice for mass shootings. The calls for more gun reform grow only for Republicans and some Democrats to balk at it.
Republicans will say "Now it's not the time to talk about gun violence."
These murderers don't have mental illness. They are calculated and prepared. It happened to be a moment where they have the opportunity to take out lives. There's no sickness in the head. Most mass shooters legally obtain their assault rifles without little background checks. They have likely no criminal history and they are willing to use the assault weapon in the only thing it's good for: Killing numerous lives.
I dismiss this ridiculous notion that criminals are the problem, not the guns. Firearms are often obtained through legal purchases.

What to do to protect your life.
1. Run - If you hear sounds like firecrackers, popping sounds or suspicious activities around a large gathering (i.e. malls, stores, clubs, public gatherings), if you can flee, run away from the shooter. Do not run in a straight path of the sight. Move around and zig-zag if possible to keep yourself out the line of fire. It's best to not film a shooter commiting the act. If you are willing to risk your life for a viral video, more power to you but its best to stay out of the line of fire by running away.
2. Hide - If you are involved in an active shooting, you must barricade yourself in a room and keep doors locked, lights off, phones on silent. Do not go into restrooms, lockers and kitchens. Those are most likely places where shooters often go. If you can barricade a room to prevent a shooter from getting in, it eliminate the opportunity for the shooter to get through. Make sure you keep your voice low when you're involved in mass shooting. Call 9-1-1 if you can.
3. Fight - If you are willing to risk your life or willing to film the incident, you have no choice but to fight. Make sure you grab something that is powerful enough to disarm a shooter. Do not confront a shooter in the midst of sight. Make yourself not visible if you're trying to fight. Do not think being a "good guy with a gun" is going to stop a bad guy. The cops don't see good guys trying to stop bad guys. They see active shooters and they will shoot anyone who is armed regardless of the matter. If you're ready to fight, be prepared to die. It's best to not be easily seen if you're trying to stop a shooter. If you're a conceal carry and attempt to disarm an active shooter, you are willing to sacrifice your life to save lives. You are willing to go hero, you could die a hero or an idiot.
4. Realize - Mind you, that the types of firearms used by shooter are based on capacity which limits the time of reaction. As with rule 3, you have only less than a second to make a reaction when the shooter is set on sights. So there's no real solution to save your life in the event of an active shooter. The best thing to do is understand, that anywhere in the United States could be a target of a mass shooting. Congress isn't doing a damn thing about it.
The far right often infiltrate protests and cause chaos to paint progressives protests as violent. Even when the far right attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, they believed that far left members infiltrated the mob. Ignore the fact that Washed Up 45 and his allies urged the supporters to come, called for them to protest and told them to not show weakness.
According to the far right: White shooters are mentally ill. Black shooters are unrepentant criminals. Gay shooters are active groomers. Muslim shooters are terrorists. Hispanic and Asian shooters are illegal immigrants. Almost all mass shooters are registered Democrats because they have liked one thing common to the left. Of course, they often share disinformation by using the "Sam Hyde" meme as a way to denounce most mass shooters being white. They say a white person should "protect" from protesters and use of firearms are justified. They say if a shooter is active military or a veteran who supports conservative causes, they are considered a "heroes" and use of firearms are justified. If the shooters are teens, the far right automatically assume the gunmen are Black.
The Republicans usually amplify white victims. Anytime a person of color kills a white victim, it is often wall-to-wall coverage on Fox, Twitter and they force it into national news. They make the case to blame Black Lives Matter, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Democrats, Rev. Al Sharpton and rap music for Black on whatever violence. Republican lawmakers who do not live in urban neighborhoods often troll social media to talk about gun violence or crime in Chicago, Baltimore, Milwaukee and New York City while not doing a damn thing to stop it. If a white person shoots a Black person, the shooter is given the benefit of doubt. White shooters are given glowing profiles about their perfect lives and how friends noticed something but refused to do something. When it comes to Black shooters, automatic vilification. They don't see mental illness. They see it as gang violence, allegedly fatherless homes, Democratic policies or the need for more firearms. The far right and Republicans exploit gun violence in the Black community for culture wars and racism.
Republicans solutions are more guns, blame others for America's social ills and defect from accepting reality.
You're not safe at home, in the school, the concert, the hospital, the church, the casino, the bus station, the subway, the light rail train, the buses, the malls, the local big box store, the political rally, the protest rally, the beach, the women's center for reproductive surgeries, the mosque, the synagogue, the road trip, the natural disasters, the state/federal buildings, the workplace, the gas station, the family picnic, the food truck rally, the funerals, the birthday parties, the graduations, the wedding, the televised events, the sporting events, the homeless shelter and many more events that have some terrorist with a firearm. Domestic violence, suicide, racism, culture war inspired, politically motivated and international operative inspired are types of gun violence.
Every community in the United States will eventually have a legacy. A legacy of never ending tragedy. Gun violence, extremism and COVID-19 will affect your town, your family and your life. So I don't want to hear that bullshit about how gun reform is taking away your rights to own firearms.
I don't want to hear that protesting against police killing people of color is hate on cops in general. I don't want to hear talk about the coronavirus being a myth.
When you hear folks say "gun rights," what they really mean is that its white privilege. This good guy with a gun nonsense has to end. The cops didn't do nothing when children were shot inside a school. A security guard was shot dead trying to protect shoppers. A cop accidentally shot his own. The good guy who tried to stop a bad guy is outgunned and a part of the rule #3.
Remember #3 means: The "good guy with a gun" better be prepared to die if they want to stop a shooter.
I don't want to hear folks say masks and vaccine mandates impede their freedoms. It prevents a deadly outbreak from spreading. If you want to die from the coronavirus, that's on you. We lost over 1 million people from the coronavirus.
The UNLV mass shooting affects lives.
I don't want to hear the shit about guns saving lives. Cause a bullet does not have eyes and it's always likely gonna hit a target. These folks seem to not get it. These incidents are a tragic part of American history. Thoughts and prayers and your heart going out to the victims is not enough. It quite frankly is an insult. I am also tired of scapegoating Black on Black crime, Chicago, Baltimore and Democratic mayors for the nation's obsession to be numb to gun violence. The Republicans are angry at Ronna McDaniel. The Republican National Committee is ending all presidential debates after the Newsnation debate only attracted 4 million viewers. It was an epic fail.
Due to the leading candidate avoiding debates, many Republicans are not interested in the remaining candidates. So thus, no one is watching and the RNC caved to Trump.
Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis did not change polls and it appears that Donald J. Trump, the former president managed to skip every debate since its start.
The hypocrisy of the Republican Party. Many candidates feel like the finger was on the scale for Trump and it was unfair rules that led to Mike Pence, Tim Scott and Doug Burgum dropping out. They all believe McDaniel is reckless. They all had to sign a loyalty pledge to back the eventual nominee. Trump refuses to do it and Chris Christie reluctantly did it.
The RNC’s decision, made by a 16-member internal body, means that any forthcoming debates will be hosted by networks independently of the committee. Two outlets — ABC and CNN — have announced plans to host future debates in Iowa and New Hampshire ahead of early state voting. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis already said he will attend CNN’s planned Iowa debate before next month’s caucuses and ABC’s planned New Hampshire debate.
Republicans running for president are robbed by Trump and the RNC's rigged rules.
Trump has aggressively pressured McDaniel to forgo hosting debates, arguing that he has a wide lead in the polls and that the committee should be focused on preparing for the general election.
The committee has also faced pressure from Trump’s lower-polling rivals, who argued that the party should allow candidates to participate in an array of forums and debates without penalty. The candidates each signed an RNC pledge earlier this year that they would not take part in any debate that was not sanctioned by the RNC.
Without the centralized organizing mechanism the RNC provided, media companies will now be responsible for hosting future debates. It is an arrangement that comes with pitfalls, as is already apparent.
After CNN on Thursday evening announced plans to host a Jan. 21 debate at New Hampshire’s Saint Anselm College, just three days after Saint Anselm had already announced that it will be hosting a debate with ABC News on Jan. 18. Neil Levesque, the executive director of the college’s New Hampshire Institute of Politics, on Friday morning wrote on X: “We were surprised to be included on a press release by a network about a debate which we had not planned or booked.”
Remember former Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) was accused of putting the finger on the scale for Hillary Clinton when she and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) were fighting for the Democratic Party presidential nomination. Trump and Republicans crowed that Clinton was given an unfair advantage and they "rigged" it for her to win. Musk posted a poll on Saturday asking if Jones should be reinstated, with the results showing 70% of those who responded in favor. Early Sunday, Musk tweeted, "The people have spoken and so it shall be."
A few hours later, Jones' posts were visible again — the last one from 2018, when the company permanently banned him and his Infowars show for abusive behavior.
Musk, who has described himself as a free speech absolutist, said the move was about protecting those rights. In response to a user who posted that "permanent account bans are antithetical to free speech," Musk wrote, "I find it hard to disagree with this point."
The billionaire Tesla CEO also tweeted it's likely that Community Notes — X's crowd-sourced fact-checking service — "will respond rapidly to any AJ post that needs correction."
It is a major turnaround for Musk, who previously said he wouldn't let Jones back on the platform despite repeated calls to do so. Last year, Musk pointed to the death of his first-born child and tweeted, "I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame."
Jones repeatedly has said on his show that the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, that killed 20 children and six educators never happened and was staged in an effort to tighten gun laws.
Relatives of many of the victims sued Jones in Connecticut and Texas, winning nearly $1.5 billion in judgments against him. In October, a judge ruled that Jones could not use bankruptcy protection to avoid paying more than $1.1 billon of that debt.

An Alabama sheriff's deputy was seen on camera tasing a handcuffed man and berating him.
Micah Washington was tased by Deputy Dana Elmore, the longtime member of the Pickens County Sheriff's Department and a reserve for the town of Reform. He was facing resisting arrest, drug charges and illegal weapons possession. Some of the charges were dropped.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Washington was arrested near Tuscaloosa on suspicion. He was changing his girlfriend's tire and Elmore stopped and detained Washington. During the encounter, he was armed and it led to an arrest. As he was talking about the unfair arrest, he was tased, berated and threatened with being shot. While he was handcuffed and tased, he cries and pleads for mercy.
The cop threatened to do more harm.

Washington, 24, still faces three additional charges that stem from his encounter with Elmore on Saturday, but he is out of jail on bond.

The ordeal began when Washington was changing a flat tire on a Pickens County roadway, not far from his aunt’s house, Maxwell said. Washington and others were going back and forth to the house to get equipment needed to change the tire when Elmore stopped to question Johnson.
Maxwell said the officer asked him what was going on and asked him for identification. Washington told the officer he was not doing anything wrong, knew his rights and didn’t have to provide that information if he wasn’t detained.

The statement from the mayor and police chief didn't name the cop, but the court records filed in connection with Micah Washington's arrest lists the complainant as Dana Elmore.

Washington pulled out his phone to start recording and Elmore used a stun gun on Washington, which caused him to drop to the ground. He was then handcuffed.
What happened next was caught on the now-viral video recorded by one of Washington’s family members.
The video begins with Elmore, identified through charging documents against Washington, ordering Washington “stand up” after he was handcuffed in the roadway in Pickens County.
He wanted to help his girlfriend out of a jam. The good guys always seem to get the short end of a stick.
She then tells him to lay down on the front of a vehicle, which he does face down.
The officer then holds a stun gun to Washington’s back while she goes through his pockets. She tells him to “stay still” at which point he says, “I ain’t doing shit, bro. I got a gun right there.”
Elmore laughs as she retrieves the gun and says, “Oh yea.”
She then deploys the stun gun directly into Washington’s back, telling him to “shut the fuck up” as he screams.
Washington then begins to cry, repeatedly saying, “Oh my God.”
The officer then says, “Do you want it again?” as Washington continues to cry. “Shut your bitch ass up,’’ the officer says.
That’s where the video ended.
Reform police Chief Richard Black and Mayor Melody Davis sent out a statement Monday acknowledging they are aware of the video of Washington’s arrest. Elmore remains on leave with pay.
“The department is in the process of turning over all materials related to this arrest to the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and has requested a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrest,’’ the statement said.
Micah Washington is traumatized by the ordeal. The far right will justify his arrest by his mugshot after the arrest.
Washington was initially charged with trafficking fentanyl, obstructing government operations, resisting arrest and first-degree possession of marijuana.
24th Judicial Circuit District Attorney Andy Hamlin filed a motion to dismiss the fentanyl trafficking charge, which was granted by District Judge Lance Bailey.
According to Hamlin’s motion, field testing on the substance indicated positive for fentanyl but addition testing failed to confirm the substance as fentanyl.
Washington was released from the Pickens County Jail on Tuesday. He posted this on his girlfriend’s Facebook page: “Thanks for the love & support fr. It’s really appreciated. I’m just happy to be free.”
Maxwell said he plans to file a $20 million lawsuit on behalf of Washington.
“These occurrences of excessive force happen every day,’’ Maxwell said. “Fortunately, this one was caught on film.”
“We will not stop working until we clear Micah’s name and hold all responsible parties accountable,’’ he said. “In addition to abuse of force, we have evidence that false criminal charges were created against Micah.”
A Florida commissioner calls the law on the mayor of Pembroke Park mayor Ashira Mohammed on the allegations she had a firearm on her and was threatened people.
The city is located in Broward County, Florida which has a population of 6,500.
A former mayor now city commissioner has an ongoing feud with Mohammed.
A small town mayor is detained over a false allegation of a firearm being flashed.
Commissioner Geoffrey Jacobs called the Broward Sheriff’s Office, claiming Mayor Ashira Mohammed had a gun.
The mayor’s purse was searched in the commission chambers by Pembroke Park Police Chief Ra Shana Dabney-Donovan after Mohammed requested she do so publicly after already being searched privately. No gun was found.
“This is absolutely ridiculous,” Mohammed said of Jacobs’ accusation, after the search turned up no weapon.
Dabney-Donovan then explained why she had to stop the meeting.
“As a police chief, as a police officer, when I hear certain alert words, I had to come and disrupt the meeting,” Dabney-Donovan told commissioners. “So I apologize for the disruption of the meeting.”
Earlier in the meeting, Mohammed and Jacobs had a heated argument over his lack of following the rules when it comes to the time speaking.
Jacobs was previously the focus of an independent investigation that found he created a hostile work environment in the town. He has sparred with several town department heads who have since resigned, as well as his fellow commissioners.
