A Bell And The Bush!

The political comeback or the end of the road.

In the beginning I thought former lawmaker Cori Bush was polarizing and too focused on being in the junk food media. When I looked at her record as a lawmaker during her two terms, I saw that she was actually effective.

See when then president Joe Biden was in office, I was fully on board with his policies and felt that Bush, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Presley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Delia Ramirez, Jamaal Bowman and Rashida Tlaib were being distractions.

Until Oct. 7, 2023, I was tight roping my criticism of Israel. Now that we are damn near three years into this genocide, I am unapologetically opposed to Israel. I believe Israel is engaged in a genocide and is stroking a third World War. I strongly believe that Israel cannot exist and I want the abolishment of the "Jewish state". 

Israel must be dissolved.

In order for a country like Palestine to exist is reparations, equal rights, complete removal of the Israeli Knesset and a replacement coalition of all non interventionist lawmakers. I want any Israelis who participated in conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, the West Bank, Qatar, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Egypt to be held accountable for crimes against humanity.

I want any member of the U.S. House and Senate who accepted dark money from agents like the American Israel Public Affair to be primaried.

I want pro Israeli entertainers, agitator athletes and influencers to be ignored, shunned and dismissed.

As an independent who leans toward the Democratic Party, I am completely done with this "Vote Blue No Matter Who!" 

I am tired of perfection when it comes to who Americans elect. President Donald J. Trump is by far the worst presidents in the 21st Century. He is a flawed human being and Republicans at best accept him for what he is. He is an 80 year old octogenarian. He is a stupid curmudgeon devoted to protecting a failed legacy.

Enter Wesley Bell.

Bell was then the St. Louis County prosecutor who emerged around the fallout of Ferguson. He was supposed to be the change candidate to a status quo Bob McCollough.

Bell's win in 2018 marked a change in the St. Louis Prosecutors Office. 

It turns out that Bell did not promise the change. He failed to prosecute Darren Wilson, the former Ferguson Police officer who shot Michael Brown after a scuffle. He aligned himself and the office with the St. Louis Police Union. 

Bell for six years proved to have mixed results. He didn't achieve his goals as a change candidate.

Enter 2024, Bell was considering a run for the U.S. Senate. He was considering taking on Josh Hawley. In four months, Bell was mounting a campaign to label Hawley as a "distraction" to Biden's agenda. 

As Cori Bush was gearing up for another term, she was openly criticizing Israel and AIPAC saw an opportunity to get rid of her. They called Bell and offered him unlimited money only if he decided to end his senate bid and run for the House. 

Do not underestimate him. He may be vulnerable but voters could stick with him.

Bell called Bush saying at one point he had no interest in the House. It turned out he was buying time before he came to a decision to run.

AIPAC through its shell pac United Democracy Project threw $11.4 million in the race to paint Bush as a lawmaker devoted to "defunding the police" making herself and husband rich as well as promoting antisemites. 

Bell earned respect from the Congressional Black Caucus. He won their endorsement and thus carried the primary with a resounding double digit victory. He would win the general easily.

As a freshman House member, Bell had the biggest crisis in his term. A major Ef-3 tornado tore through St. Louis in 2025. It has killed five and displaced thousands of residents.

As of 2026, St. Louis is still in a bad predicament. Bell, Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt are feuding with FEMA and the Trump Administration on allocating funding to rebuilt.

Hawley has pissed off Trump after series of disagreements. It is probably a reason to why funding is delayed. Yet, Bell has the most to lose. Bush pointed out that 11 weeks after the disaster, Bell and House members went to Israel as a part of AIPAC's America Israel Educational Foundation. 

Bell who has done some things for St. Louis and St. Louis County cannot shake his ties with AIPAC. 

It was revealed that early in his political career he backed a Republican candidate. In 2006, Bell served as the campaign manager for Mark J. Byrne, a conservative Republican challenging incumbent Democrat William Lacy Clay Jr. in Missouri's 1st Congressional District. Clay was defeated by Bush in 2020.

When HuffPost exposed the role, a spokesperson for Bell explained that he and Byrne were simply close personal friends who happened to hold entirely different political views. Byrne himself corroborated this, calling Bell's management a "friendly favor" from someone who did his best to help a friend despite their policy disagreements.

Regardless, Bell is fighting for his political life. He is vulnerable thanks to Bush mounting a "tear your kingdom down" strategy. 

Progressives argue this history proves that Bell lacks genuine progressive convictions and is a political chameleon willing to work across ideological lines for convenience.

I am throwing my support to Cori Bush once again. She is boombastic, loud and very controversial. However, she is effective in getting things done. While the junk food media does focus on her remarks and her polarizing antics, it doesn't matter to those who need funding to make Metro St. Louis succeed.

Bell was bought and paid for. He will continue to give Israel billions of our tax dollars while St. Louis continues to struggle. As the Gateway to the West, the city should be a major hub for not only manufacturing, but technology, food processing and innovation.

Bush is not perfect. A flawed woman but at least a honest woman at best.
