And K. Dot said he doesn't care what your opinions are. His album GNX is a masterpiece. |
The latest from Kendrick Lamar.
Winners and losers of 2024.
On Friday at 12:01pm, Kendrick Lamar released a surprise album. His album has the hip-hop community talking. It is aims at not only rival Drake but numerous others.
This album was released on PGLang and Interscope Records.
The album was 42 minutes long, twelve tracks and a few hidden features artists.
It was pure K. DOT.
The album opens with the track "wacced out murals"; its title explicitly refers to a September 2024 incident where an unidentified perpetrator vandalized a mural of Lamar in Compton with a pro-Drake message. Lamar addresses the controversy surrounding his selection as headliner for the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans and criticizes Snoop Dogg for his lack of reaction to Drake's song "Taylor Made Freestyle", which uses AI-generated vocals of him and Tupac Shakur. "tv off" features "clipped strings" that "dissolve into Viking-berserker horns" halfway through; Lamar repeatedly screams Mustard's name on the chorus. On "heart pt. 6", he recounts his history with TDE and the supergroup Black Hippy, acknowledging that an album from the group never released as he became focused on other endeavors.
Ben Sisaro of The New York Times noted that it is an "implicit rejoinder" to Drake's diss track of the same name, which in itself was taken from Lamar's "The Heart" song series. "gloria" features Lamar presenting a "complicated relationship" that is gradually revealed to be about his writing ability; ABC News compared it to "I Used to Love H.E.R." by Common and "I Gave You Power" by Nas.
Lil Wayne, who was mentioned on the album reacted. The rapper was allegedly angered by the NFL and Apple Music choosing K. Dot over him. The rapper felt disrespected by Apple Music and Roc Nation who are the official NFL sponsors of the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Wayne who recently launched his Wheezyana Tour reunited with Juvenile, Turk and the B.G. for a Hot Boy reunion.
Kendrick's disses on Wheezy and Drizzy makes it clear he is tired of the pop rap.
