In less than five minutes, Frank Tyson dies. |
Well here we go again. A police encounter on a Black civilian turns deadly. Of course, the far right will justify his death with the words, "he should have complied."

He died after prone restraint applied by arresting officers on April 18.
We’ve spent years investigating this.
I’d like to highlight a few key moments.
Here is first moment of contact. Tyson is in AMVETS lodge

The advice was simple: when handcuffs are applied to prone person, turn them over. Get into a recovery position.
Why? Because of risk of positional asphyxia

6 1/2 minutes after handcuffing.
This is too long. He hasn’t moved for many minutes. He’s not fighting back at all.

As reporters start to do stories on this latest death, I would urge them to provide critical context.

This isn’t an isolated death. It’s part of a pattern of deaths across the US.
Reporters MUST ask Canton PD about their prone restraint policy. Do they train on this?

Officers are now taught to treat people saying “I can’t breathe” as a potential medical emergency.
If someone says this repeatedly during prone restraint, you MUST act accordingly immediately after handcuffing
WARNING: GRAPHIC ⚠️ Police in Ohio commit an extrajudicial execution on a man who's heard saying "I can't breathe." One of the cops proudly says "I've always wanted to be in a bar fight" while Frank Tyson, 53, is facedown on the floor dying without first aid. pic.twitter.com/Evlr46BHZF

The tactics of kneeing were trained to American cops by Israel. |
The police department said in a statement that it “immediately contacted” the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to conduct an independent investigation. Without naming Tyson, the bureau confirmed that its investigation of a “fatal officer-involved critical incident” is active and ongoing.
