Canada Warns U.S. That Restrictions Are Coming!

President Donald J. Trump, an 80 year old curmudgeon now pissed of our ally to the North. Did you know the United States shares the border with Canada?

Alaska, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine border Canada.

The dominion includes Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Nunavut, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The capital is Ottawa and largest city is Toronto. Both are located in the Ontario, its most populated province.

Quebec is the only province where 93% of Quebecians speak French. New Brunswick is the second province where 30% of its residents speak French. About 10% of those living in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine speak French.

Those who live on reservations are allowed free access between the U.S. and Canada.

Some of your favorite films and television shows are filmed in Toronto, Vancouver, Montréal and Edmonton. 

The Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney is not tolerating that curmudgeon's rants much longer. He has warned that the Niagara grid is at risk of being shut off to thousands of Americans. 

He said that lumber, syrup, milk, beef and chicken will cost more if the U.S. pushes for high tariffs. It will lead to high prices in the United States.

Carney and provincial leaders are considering restricting energy exports, including electricity, as leverage in an escalating trade war with the United States. Following the collapse of bilateral trade negotiations, Trump imposed massive 50% tariffs on approximately $20 billion worth of Canadian goods, prompting Carney to vow a "dollar-for-dollar" retaliation. 

On September 1, the tariffs go into effect and you will see it soon.

With the U.S. fighting a war with Iran, the world's economy is at risk of collapase. The U.S. is demanding an absolute shut off of the Iranian economy. They are pushing for crippling sanctions and vow to punish countries that continue to aid them.

Canada usually assisting in U.S. wars ain't doing it this time.

Canada has pledged to roll out “dollar-for-dollar” countertariffs on scores of U.S. goods next month in response to President Donald Trump’s latest import taxes, which have plunged the North American neighbors deeper into a bitter trade war.

Ottawa released a list of more than 700 targets Tuesday. Starting Sept. 8, Canada’s government says it will impose steeper import taxes on goods ranging from fish and cheese to smartphones and steel imported from the United States.

Canada said it was focusing its retaliation on products “most affected by U.S. tariffs.” The levies will be set at 15%, 25% or 50% — rates that the government said would match U.S. tariffs on goods targeted in Washington’s latest round as well as products covered by previously imposed sectoral duties.

Tuesday’s announcement came just days after the Trump administration’s 50% tariffs on roughly $20 billion of Canadian goods, ranging from honey to hockey sticks, took effect. That represents just 5% of the value of goods Canada sent to the U.S. last year, but the punishing rate comes on top of a series of tariffs Trump has imposed on the country during his second term in office. More threats of escalation have piled up in the meantime. As a result, businesses—and, by extension, households—on both sides of the border could soon feel the strain of even higher prices.

Here’s a recap of some of the affected products.

Canada details retaliation plans for U.S. steel, fish and more

Canada plans to impose steeper tariffs on hundreds of U.S. products starting Sept. 8.

Many of the goods are highly specific and mirror products on which Washington began imposing 50% tariffs over the weekend. The list also includes products made of steel and aluminum, which already face a 50% U.S. sectoral tariff on most imports globally, although some goods qualify for lower duties under an adjustment rolled out by the White House earlier this year.

Some of the many U.S. items Canada is now targeting include:

• Live and frozen fish, crustaceans, oysters and mussels
• Cheese and curd products
• Natural honey, molasses and baking mixtures
• Perfume, makeup and hair preparations
• Carpets and other floor coverings
• Toilet paper, facial tissues and envelopes
• T-shirts, jackets, coats and gloves
• Various metal products made of steel or aluminum, including wire, rods, pipes and foil
• Stoves, ranges, refrigerators and other household appliances
• Smartphones and video game consoles
• Motorcycles and trailers
• Fishing rods and exercise equipment

The new tariffs on these products will carry rates of 15%, 25% or 50%. Canada’s tariffs on many American products would double from 25% to 50%, with the largest share of the new measures affecting steel and aluminum.

U.S. already slapped a long list of Canadian goods with new tariffs

The Trump administration already outlined its own lengthy list of more than 550 Canadian products that are now subject to 50% tariffs. That list includes natural honey, vegetable seeds and flower bulbs; alcoholic beverages such as beer and vermouth; ice skates and other sports accessories; various household goods; and smartphones.

Trump imposed the tariffs by reaching back to a long-dormant Great Depression-era law. Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, which has never been used before, authorizes the president to impose import taxes of up to 50% on goods from countries that have discriminated against U.S. businesses.

Trump claimed that Canada discriminated against U.S. autos, alcohol and dairy products, particularly following the implementation of his earlier import taxes last year. It’s worth noting that the list of Canadian goods facing the latest levy is far more diverse.

More threats of escalation pile up

Threats of stronger countermeasures and further escalation have continued to pile up—and it’s possible that even more products could face steeper import taxes down the road.

Trump took to social media Monday to say that his administration would also increase tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks, automotive parts and steel to 50% starting Jan. 1, 2027. Like other countries, Canada currently faces a broader 25% tariff on autos. A 50% sectoral tariff on most steel imports is already in effect.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said the auto-sector proposal would “gradually dismantle” Canadian production. He also accused Washington of trying to subordinate Canada and said U.S. demands during the failed talks showed that Americans wanted to “destroy our major industries.”

Beyond tariffs, Trump added another provocation Tuesday, saying the United States was giving “serious consideration” to renaming Lake Ontario “Lake America” amid a feud with Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Ford told The Associated Press this week that his province would be ready to cut off electricity and critical minerals to the U.S. if the trade war worsens.

President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Congress, former presidents, former vice presidents, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, the music industry, Nashville, Broadway, Hollywood and Toronto will honor the iconic singer and entertainer Dolly Parton.

The country music icon whose soaring vibrato vocals, poignant songwriting and sparkling costumes defined her rise from a log cabin in the Tennessee mountains to the height of stardom and acclaim, has died. She was 80 years old.

Parton died peacefully Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee, her publicist said in a statement. A cause of death was not disclosed.

Known for her curvy physique, massive blond wigs and skin-tight outfits that served her self-deprecating wit, she was among the most beloved personalities in music and beyond — the rare celebrity whose appeal transcended generations, geography and politics.

She wrote hundreds of songs, including classics like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors” and “I Will Always Love You,” that totaled more than 100 million worldwide sales and more than 1 billion online streams. Parton, who plucked bejeweled banjos, guitar and dulcimers with her long fingernails during performances, was a generous philanthropist and successful businesswoman whose projects included a theme park in the Smoky Mountain foothills near her birthplace.

Her career was forever influenced by her upbringing as one of 12 children born into what she called a “dirt poor” Tennessee family. She started her education nonprofit, Imagination Library, to send free books to children in Tennessee because her father, who quit school to work on the farm, struggled to learn to read.

Parton’s first musical performances were in church, where her grandfather was a preacher. By age 10, she was learning guitar and singing on local television shows. At 13, she appeared on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, where Johnny Cash introduced her as “a little girl here from up in East Tennessee.”

With a suitcase of songs, she followed her uncle, Bill Owens, also a songwriter, to Nashville after graduating high school in 1964. Fred Foster, who produced Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson and more, saw her potential and got her songs cut by other artists, as well as recording and releasing Parton singing her own material. By the mid-1970s, Parton was a Nashville queen.

A key collaboration with Porter Wagoner

Parton’s partnership with Porter Wagoner, a pencil-thin pompadoured star with flashy rhinestone outfits, was key to her career. She honed her acting skills on his syndicated TV show and he advocated for her to get a record deal at RCA. Their first duet, “The Last Thing On My Mind,” was released in 1967, the same year she started her own publishing company.

While their duets were often big radio hits, Parton’s solo singles didn’t chart as high at first. With Wagoner as a co-producer, she began to adjust her country warble to a more polished, pop-leaning style.

She got her first No. 1 solo single with “Joshua,” and reached the Top 5 with the ballad “Coat of Many Colors,” about how her mother sewed together scraps of clothes to make a coat Parton wore “so proudly” even as her peers mocked her for being poor. The song, with its Biblical references and ode to maternal love, was later made into a children’s book and a TV movie.

In 1973, she had the hit that made her career — “Jolene,” a country music standard with its steady, churning rhythm and Parton’s repeated delivery of the title as she pleads for the woman not to steal her man.

The song topped the country charts, crossing over to pop and later being released internationally, opening up new audiences for Parton. “Jolene” is one of her most covered compositions, including by Miley Cyrus (Parton’s goddaughter), Olivia Newton-John and The White Stripes.

She left Wagoner’s show in 1974, amid reports of squabbling between the two, although they continued to record together and Wagoner stayed her producer for years after that. But the relationship turned litigious when Wagoner sued her in 1979 for millions in management fees and royalties.

A pop crossover star

She followed “Jolene” with a huge hit in 1974, “I Will Always Love You,” an ode and farewell to Wagoner that helped her win the Country Music Association’s female vocalist of the year back-to-back in 1975 and 1976. She famously turned down Elvis Presley, who wanted to record it, because she would not share publishing rights.

Decades later, Whitney Houston’s version of “I Will Always Love You” became a smash for the soundtrack of her 1992 film “The Bodyguard,” and broke sales records. Houston won a Grammy for her performance in 1994, presented to her by Parton.

“Here You Come Again,” a pop crossover hit and one of the few she didn’t write, further established Parton as a multi-genre entertainer and brought her first Grammy Award in 1979.

“A lot of people thought I had totally lost my mind,” she told The Associated Press in 1979 of changing her singing style. “But I had no fear of change. I expected success, but I was braced for failure. I didn’t care if people thought I was wrong. In my own heart, I knew I was doing the right thing.”

Parton’s other crossover hits included the title song from “9 to 5,” the 1980 comedy starring Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin; and her duet with longtime friend Kenny Rogers, “Islands in the Stream,” written by brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees. In 1987, she collaborated with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris on the million-selling “Trio” album.

Down home charm

For millions of fans, she was simply “Dolly,” a mixture of Southern charm, humor and glamour. But she was also considered a feminist role model for holding the reins of her own career, writing her own songs, owning her content and looking after her finances in an entertainment world dominated by men.

Parton was open to making fun of herself; when she hosted “Saturday Night Live” in 1989 she told the writers that her only restrictions were she wouldn’t curse and she wouldn’t make fun of Jesus. She regularly joked about her breasts or her dumb blonde appearance, but with a wink that she was the one controlling the laughs. In the memoir “My Life So Far,” Fonda remembered Parton’s way with a wisecrack, “usually high raunch,” and a laugh that was “somewhere between a girl’s giggle, an explosive shriek, and a cascade of little bells.”

After her gown split down the front when she won CMA’s entertainer of the year in 1978, Parton quipped: “My Daddy said that’s what I got for putting 50 pounds of mud in a five-pound bag.”

Throughout her career, she embraced her glamorous style, often wearing custom curve-hugging rhinestone dresses and bodysuits even if they drew tsk-tsks from others in the industry. Her look was always a part of her larger musical business plan.

“I knew my songs were good even if I had been ugly as sin,” she told the AP in 2014. “So I thought, ‘Well, I would have probably chose to look this way even if I had been a waitress.’ I mean, this is my look. I mean, I like a lot of makeup. I like a lot of hair. I like flashy clothes. I like to show it off. But that’s just who I am.”

She married Carl Dean, an asphalt paving contractor, in the mid-1960s; they were together until his death in 2025 at the age of 82. Though rarely seen in public, he was an influence on her career. She told NPR that she wrote “Jolene” about a flirty bank teller who seemed to take an interest in Dean.

‘9 to 5’ to Hollywood and Broadway

In her first major film role, Parton played alongside Fonda and Tomlin as office workers who rebel against their tyrannical boss in “9 to 5.” Critic Roger Ebert called her a “natural-born movie star” and the title song earned her two Grammy Awards and a ranking of 78 on the American Film Institute’s list of top 100 movie songs. Starring roles in “The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas” and “Steel Magnolias” followed.

“I never thought of myself as a movie star,” she told AP’s Bob Thomas in 1979. “I knew I’d be a star, but as a singer or as a writer of songs or books or poetry. I wanted to be a famous performer and wear flashy clothes, but singing in movies was not one of my ambitions. My family lived in the mountains and we didn’t see movies.”

Her love affair with TV and film continued for decades, with appearances alongside Cyrus on “Hannah Montana” and adaptations of her music for Christmas specials, films and streaming series. She also became an author, her books ranging from the memoir “Dolly” to a bestselling novel co-authored by James Patterson, “Run, Rose, Run.”

The stage adaptation “9 to 5: The Musical” debuted in 2009, and “DOLLY: A True Original Musical” is set to open Jan. 19, 2027, on what would have been her 81st birthday.

United States of Dolly

Beyond her music, Parton’s most lasting legacy might be her generosity and broad appeal.

When a deadly wildfire swept through the Smokies in 2016, she held an all-star telethon and set up a foundation that sent monthly checks to residents whose homes were damaged or destroyed.

She opened up her Dollywood theme park in East Tennessee, a major economic driver in Appalachia that draws tourists from around the country, and established the Dollywood Foundation. She wrote books and memoirs, was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and was given a lifetime achievement award by the Recording Academy. She was selected for the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2025.

With 55 Grammy nominations and 10 wins, Parton is the third-most nominated woman in Grammy history, only behind Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Parton spanned social and political divides, through multiple generations of fans, urban and rural and in between. In tumultuous election years, it wasn’t uncommon to see “Dolly for President” shirts. But she was strict in not voicing her own political beliefs, often turning aside questions about presidents, candidates, policies and other controversies.

“I don’t do politics,” Parton told host Jad Abumrad on his hit podcast “Dolly Parton’s America.”

“I have too many fans on both sides of the fence. Of course, I have my opinion about everything, but I learned years ago to keep your mouth shut about things.”

When the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation sent out a ballot in 2022 with her name on it, though she said she felt she hadn’t earned it, the voters answered with a “Hello, Dolly.” Parton showed up to the induction ceremony, performed and then put out a rock album.

Democratic senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed decided to go on Fox. He also reacted to the recent controversy involving opinions from Pike on a pro Israel Democrat Jeremy Moss.

Watters and El-Sayed engaged in a highly contentious, wide-ranging interview on Fox, clashing over hot-button cultural issues, economic policies, and foreign affairs.

I am going just make this brief.

It was risky going on Fox. Watters is literally on the phone with Republicans and he is dying to get clips for the Republican National Committee to use against El-Sayed.

It also shows that El-Sayed is willing to go into an area where he knows he will expect a hostile host.

On top of that, the appearance on Fox makes Mike Rogers look weak. 

Rogers feels comfortable being on friendlier outlets.

Watters desperately tried to throw every distraction at El-Sayed.

While discussing gender-affirming care and surgeries for minors, Watters asked if El-Sayed supported such procedures. El-Sayed, a physician, redirected the question by asking Watters, "Are you circumcised?" Watters called it a personal question and argued that circumcision is different than castration. El-Sayed countered that circumcision is still a surgery on a child, stating that conservatives are "really selective" about when they want government involved between a parent, doctor, and patient.

Watters grilled the candidate on progressive proposals, including taxing the rich and socialized healthcare, telling El-Sayed, "I don't think you're very good at math" and labeling some of his platform "straight-up wacky". El-Sayed pushed back by attempting to steer the focus to inflation, the economy, and healthcare affordability.

El-Sayed repeatedly lobbed criticism at his Republican general election opponent, Mike Rogers, calling him a "beta" for allegedly ducking debates and refusing to appear on Watters's show.

El-Sayed used the exact same tactic during his interview on Jesse Watters Primetime. When Watters tried to grill him over progressive platform spending, El-Sayed pivoted to the affordability crisis and gas prices. He explicitly targeted the host's surname to call out Fox News' coverage, telling him that he wanted to talk about actual kitchen-table issues instead of wading into "the culture war Watters" (a play on "cultural waters").

When appearing on The Will Cain Show, the host pressed El-Sayed on inflation, high gas prices, and economic policies. El-Sayed abruptly flipped the interview, trying to catch the host out of touch by demanding Cain "answer the question" about whether he pumps his own gas. In the heated exchange, El-Sayed mocked the host's name, asking if he was "Will-ing or un-Will-ing" to answer or mockingly asking, "Will you, Will?"

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is the Black Kevin McCarthy. If the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, it will take only a handful of Democratic members and most Republicans to oppose a potential House Speakership.

The two men previously established a working relationship during President Donald J. Trump's first presidential term while collaborating on a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill. During their recent sit-down, Kushner reportedly suggested that Jeffries connect directly with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles to further discuss economic issues.

Several progressive commentators and anti-Trump figures criticized Jeffries for negotiating with Kushner. Critics argued that rather than looking for common ground, a Democratic-led House should be focusing on aggressive oversight and launching investigations into the business dealings and perceived conflicts of interest surrounding Kushner and the Trump administration.

In response to the wave of criticism, Jeffries released a statement emphasizing that House Democrats remain committed to holding the administration accountable. According to The Hill, Jeffries defended his positioning by stating, "No one from the Trump Cartel is getting a pass". He added that in any conversation with the administration, he will continue to demand transformational policy changes to address America's ongoing affordability crisis.

While some want the cultural and historical achievement, me and most others want policies that make life better. Right now, we don't give two fucks who the next House Speaker is, all we want is for Congress, President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance and the junk food media to do something than the status quo.

This curmudgeon is overweight. Doctors are concerned his weight will drive him to an early if not sooner death. 

The vice president is bragging about being a father for the fourth time while the U.S. soliders the president sent to war are coming back in body bags. Some were parents. Others never will have an opportunity to be a parent.

Republicans despite having 28 governor seats, both chambers of Congress, a conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court, a hyperpartisan grip on the junk food media and an endless parade of online trolls, they still blame the Democratic Party for the chaos.

Rightfully so, Democrats are not scott-free. They are playing games where folks like John Fetterman, Josh Gottheimer, Hillary Scholten and Jared Moskowitz are threatening to leave the party if the Democrats change course on issues.

Even that curmudgeon former West Virginia senator Joe Manchin weighed in on of all things Hasan Piker.

You see as the narratives are about Hasan Piker, the Democratic Socialists of America, Muslims, transgender Americans and immigrants, Americans are paying ¼ of their paychecks to either groceries, rent, gasoline, medical bills, insurance, utilities and basically life.

We are in a war with Iran at the behest of the evil apartheid genocidial ethnostate of Israel.

The police chief of Senatobia, Mississippi allegedly texted derogatory and racial slurs to fellow colleagues. Investigative reports reveal that Senatobia Police Chief Harold Vanderford regularly used racist slurs in private text messages, a discovery that emerged amidst community outrage following the fatal police shooting of a 1-year old child at a local Walmart. An officer fired into a moving vehicle fleeing the scene, killing Kohen Wiley, a Black toddler.

Yeah, tell me about how Black people are violent when white men are the cause of global chaos. Israel, The European Union, Great Britain, Russia, Australia, Canada and the United States are the reasons why the world is on the brink of another global war.

A 54-year-old convicted felon with at least 30 previous arrests is in custody following a fatal stabbing Sunday afternoon on the Atlanta Beltline near Kroger, according to police. 

Atlanta police officers responded to 725 Ponce De Leon Avenue around 4:01 p.m. Sunday for a reported stabbing. 

When they arrived, officers found a 29-year-old man who had been stabbed.

Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. 

Police arrested Johnathan Hamby on the scene, and he is awaiting booking at the Fulton County Jail.

Investigators recovered the knife used in the attack and do not believe Hamby and the victim knew each other.

Civil war is coming.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said the victim and Hamby were in a verbal argument before it escalated into the stabbing. 

"Mr. Hamby has an extensive criminal history and has been arrested multiple times by law enforcement. And we're currently showing 30 previous arrest cycles. We're showing that he is a convicted felon, and we're showing that he was on active probation for an aggravated assault that occurred in Brookhaven," said Schierbaum at a press briefing after the incident. 

Schierbaum said there is no remaining threat to the surrounding community. He added that 911 calls were crucial to a fast response from police. 

Additionally, officers who were patrolling the Beltline nearby were the first to respond to the scene.

Some of Hamby's previous arrests included charges for battery, aggravated assault, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, obstruction of law enforcement, and criminal trespass, according to Fulton County Jail records. His arrest history also shows a history of mental health issues. 

Crime scene tape blocked off a large section of the Beltline near the Kroger for several hours while investigators processed the area. Visitors and local workers expressed concern following the afternoon of violence.

"I feel like there's usually a bunch of officers at the Beltline," said Ewuraba Buckle, who was visiting the Beltline. "I don't know about inside, but I typically feel safe, so this is pretty concerning honestly."

Tim Kelly, who works on the Beltline, reflected on the situation: "It shouldn't have happened, but it's something that happened here in Atlanta, and it's not the best."

Police are looking into whether mental health played a role in the attack. Schierbaum also raised broader questions regarding repeat offenders in the area.

"A convicted felon on probation. Was he an individual that should have been in this space armed with a weapon and carried it out? That's a conversation we should have as a society," Schierbaum said.

This marks the second deadly stabbing on the Beltline this year, following a May incident in which a 23-year-old woman was randomly stabbed.

The suspect is facing murder charges which carries 15 to LIFE. Since he is a repeat offender, he may face DEATH if convicted. The iron college can only rehabilitate unrepentant people for so long.

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Former Illinois deputy Sean Grayson only spent less than a year in the iron college but got the fulfillment of a LIFE term. He died while in the iron college. A month ago, he was pleading to Gov. JB Pritzker for clemency as he was dealing with terminal cancer.

He wanted the governor’s office to commute his sentence to a hospice. The governor denied it.

Grayson passed away at the age of 32.

The former Sangamon County deputy was called to a Springfield home of a mentally distressed woman. He was disrespectful from the jump. When the woman was making inaudible remarks while holding a pot, Grayson got a hold of his service weapon demanding she drop her pot. 

The woman speaks a religious rant before he pulled the trigger shooting her twice in the face.

Her name was Sonya Massey. 

Daniel Fultz, the attorney who represented Grayson during his murder trial, said he died around noon. He was six months into his 20-year sentence for second-degree murder.

Grayson, 32, was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in 2023, and it had progressed to Stage 4 and spread to his liver, lungs and rectum, another defense attorney, Mark Wykoff, said at his sentencing in January. In July, he was denied medical release by the Illinois Prisoner Review Board.

It was not immediately clear whether cancer is what caused Grayson’s death.

Grayson shot Massey, 36, after he responded to her 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. July 6, 2024. The shooting, which was captured on body camera video, set off protests and calls for justice.

Grayson was convicted last year.

During the 911 response, Massey picked up a pot of boiling water from her stove, prompting Grayson to back away, according to court testimony.

Grayson testified that he believed Massey was going to throw the boiling water on him after she said, “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus.” When Grayson looked confused, Massey repeated the sentence.

He testified that he took the remark as a threat.

Grayson pointed his gun at Massey and threatened to shoot her, according to body camera video. She apologized and dropped to the floor, but he fired three times, striking her.

Grayson declined to offer medical care, Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser said in court. Massey was pronounced dead at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

First Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Beth Rodgers said in court: “‘I’m sorry.’ That is the last thing Sonya Massey said before the defendant murdered her, just like he said he would.”

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed the Sonya Massey Act, a law requiring stricter background checks for law enforcement hires, and it went into effect at the beginning of the year.

Sangamon County officials agreed in early 2025 to pay a $10 million settlement to Massey’s family.

The president in the final weeks of his first term unleashed a mob of his supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol. Trump faced a second impeachment. Had the Republicans stop putting their heads up his curmudgeon ass, he would've been disqualified to run for president. Nah, Republicans cared about political power and the need to "own the libs."

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has told President Donald J. Trump that his trade deal is null and void. He said that Canada's interests will always be first and the president's threats could dismantle the USMCA.

Trump pushed for USMCA in his first chaotic term.

The Republican president and his tariffs have crippled the U.S. economy. Trade with the U.S. is now considered hostile. Canada and Mexico are two of biggest partners. China is the biggest country for imports.

Trump's tariffs make companies in the U.S. pay more for goods dutied. The companies pass the costs on consumers, shippers and disturbing companies.

Mexico is considering leaving USMCA and joining BRICS after the president kept pushing for military actions in its sovereignty. The claims the U.S. is pushing to stopping illegal smugglers and drug cartels from entering its borders.

Carney told his negotiators to walk away from the table after the Trump administration introduced late unacceptable demands on culture, autos and sovereignty that, when taken in concert with their overall approach to talks, revealed the U.S. was not interested in a "true economic partnership" with Canada.

In a departure from his usual diplomatic language, Carney suggested the U.S. sometimes signs trade deals in "pencil," and while Canada's government is united and working together, the same is not true of the Trump administration.

"We cannot accept what they've offered, and we will not give what they've asked," Carney said on Saturday in Ottawa, adding that the United States 'asked too much and offered too little.'

The prime minister revealed that the U.S. had issues with Canada's subsidies for French culture; the prevalence of French-language media online and even the requirement to have bilingual labels on products sold in Canada.

"It was unacceptable right from the start, but the Americans kept trying and trying and we said no," Carney said. "Ultimately it's simple. That was never on the table for Canada and it would not have been acceptable to Canadians."

When it came to the auto industry, Carney said the U.S. wanted to treat Canadian-made parts unfairly and to exempt some cars and pick-up trucks from U.S. tariffs but not others without any explanation.

Carney said those demands were introduced late and, if accepted, would have moved Canada "into a series of terms that would have made the production [of vehicles in Canada] more un-economic over time."

Ontario Premier Doug Ford welcomed Carney's decision to abandon negotiations and insisted Canada would win a trade war with the U.S. because Canada is united and prepared for a fight.

"I'm glad he didn't sign that deal because it was a bad deal," Ford said in Toronto on Saturday. "It was a bad deal for Ontario. It was a bad deal for the auto sector, the steel sector and the manufacturing sector."

The premier said Canada needs to inflict pain on the U.S. to remind the Trump administration that Canada is its best customer and should be treated as such.

The U.S. team also wanted to introduce measures into the pact that would significantly undermine Canada's sovereignty, the prime minister said.

"The U.S. introduced, in the last hours, efforts to restrict our ability to have other trade deals," Carney said. "Because we believe in free trade, we're the partner of choice, in many respects, for countries around the world, and Americans wanted to restrict that, they had language to restrict that. Unacceptable."

Throwing shade at the Trump team

Carney said the effort to try to squeeze more concessions into the deal at the last minute derailed months of negotiations.

"Any of [those issues] individually, but collectively put us in a position here that had been on a trajectory, absent those elements, for a fair deal, a good deal for Canadians — not perfect — but a good deal [became] a deal we would not accept," Carney said.

"The prime minister's decision to recall his negotiators means threatened 50 per cent tariffs on a wide range of Canadian products kicked in at 12:01 a.m. Saturday. Carney said Canada's dollar-for-dollar matching tariffs on U.S. goods will begin the Tuesday after Labour Day.

He was asked if U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's intervention in the talks was an impediment to the deal, and he used the opening to get a dig in at his southern neighbour's approach to the talks.

"The Canadian team, unified ... everyone in the loop, everyone knows what our objectives are, collective decision making — ultimately, I and the cabinet bear responsibility for those decisions, but unity. You cannot say that about the United States administration."

Carney said Canada went into the trade talks fully aware the U.S. had changed its spots and had embarked on a mission to reshape its trading relationships to one where it used previous "economic integration as a weapon."

He noted that the Trump administration has justified tariffs on Canada with a continually changing rationale that began with fentanyl and since moved to wildfire smoke, dairy quotas, the certification of U.S. aircraft and Ontario Premier Doug Ford's anti-tariff ads that quoted former U.S. president Ronald Reagan, all of which violate the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement.

Through the Trump administration's actions, Carney said, Canada has come to realize "that sometimes, its signature was written in pencil."

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre issued a statement saying he is disappointed with the U.S. decision to impose tariffs on Canada and that his party will "support action to protect Canadians and our industries."

"Canada cannot accept one-sided tariffs that will deindustrialize our country. Nor can we accept a bad deal. Instead, we must continue the fight for tariff-free trade," Poilievre said.

The Conservative leader said he is hoping to have a conversation with Carney later on Saturday "to discuss what we can do to fight for our workers, businesses and economy."

Writing in The Hub on Friday, University of Calgary economist Trevor Tombe said the 50 per cent tariffs might only knock a "couple of tens of a percentage point off of GDP growth," but they will hit Canada's job market hard.

"If these tariffs take effect and remain in place, I estimate that nearly 90,000 jobs across Canada could be lost. And those losses go beyond where the tariffs directly land," he wrote.

Tombe said Alberta's exports will be "barely touched" by the tariffs compared with Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, but Alberta-based businesses that provide support for exporters elsewhere in the country stand to lose 9,000 jobs. He also said he expects about 36,000 job losses in Ontario, 18,000 in Quebec and 11,000 in B.C.

The federal Liberal government estimates the tariffs will impact about $27 billion worth of Canadian goods and put about 56,000 jobs at stake.

Carney said he's concerned about how the failure to secure a deal with Trump will impact ordinary people and promised to do whatever is required to help support businesses harmed by the tariffs.

"We'll be releasing details of this early next week — alongside our tariff actions — to support these businesses, and we will support these businesses for as long as it takes; in other words, beyond the life of this administration," he said.

On CBS News, Nixon was asked about Hasan Piker. Gayle King doing Bari Weiss' dirty work asked the candidate about her being associated with him. Nixon quickly dismissed it by telling King she has not campaigned with him or knows him personally.

On CNN, Kasie Hunt repeatedly interrupted Nixon when she was asked about DSA, socialism and Florida's politics. 

A former Florida state representative who has ties to President Donald J. Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) and the apartheid genocidial ethnostate of Israel is being held in Palm Beach County Lockup on charges of lewd acts on a child.

The victim was this man's own grandson. The victim told the law that they engaged in these acts numerous times.

• Luring or enticing a child
• Child abuse causing mental injury

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If convicted, he could face LIFE or DEATH. Ironic, he voted for the very authoritarian law that punishes sexual predators in Florida.

Michael Caruso was arrested on August 18, 2026 after arriving in Orlando. The Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Caruso was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement on charges related to child sexual abuse. The victim was Caruso's grandchild.

Following the arrest, DeSantis suspended Caruso from his position as clerk circuit court and comptroller. 

This fool is accused molesting a young boy at the child’s home, on fishing excursions and while on a family cruise, arrest records show.

Caruso, a 67-year-old Republican whom DeSantis appointed as Palm Beach County’s clerk of courts and comptroller a year ago, was taken into custody by local police and officers from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

“Being in a position of public trust provides no shield from accountability,” Attorney General James Uthmeier said in a statement Tuesday.

After the arrest was announced, DeSantis suspended Caruso from his post and noted in an executive order that the allegations include lewd or lascivious molestation, lewd or lascivious exhibition, kidnapping, child abuse causing mental injury, and luring or enticing a child.

Caruso had regular and unsupervised access to the child, a probable cause affidavit released by the governor’s office said.

Caruso is accused of preying on the boy more than half a dozen times since Thanksgiving 2024, sometimes under the guise of playing “tickle monster,” according to the affidavit.

Asked at a news conference whether he was aware of the allegations before Caruso was nominated for the Palm Beach post, DeSantis said, “Of course not.”

“He had a clean vet, he was well-regarded in the community,” the governor said.

DeSantis said that once he became aware of the allegations against Caruso, “it was a very easy decision for me to yank him from this position.”

Noting that Florida now has a death penalty for convicted pedophiles, DeSantis warned that if Caruso is found guilty of the allegations, “he is going to be in a world of hurt.”

Caruso is running for re-election in November to retain the top county post that DeSantis appointed him to. Previously, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2018 to 2025. And when DeSantis ran for president in 2024, Caruso campaigned with him in Iowa.

Calls to Caruso’s number, as well as his wife Tracy’s number, went unanswered Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear whether Caruso has a lawyer.

The lawyer for the alleged victim blasted DeSantis for releasing information that could potentially identify the boy.

“Child sexual abuse victims should never have identifying details about them released, and it is abhorrent that the child victim in connection with the arrest of Michael Caruso has been subjected to this breach,” Lisa Haba of The Haba Law Firm said in a statement on her firm’s website.

The chain of events that led to Caruso’s arrest began in December, when he was confronted by the boy’s father about the alleged abuse, the affidavit states.

Caruso denied abusing the child but “acknowledged that he had showered with all his own children,” the affidavit states. He stated that he’d previously been accused “of sexually inappropriate behavior, including sexual battery” by a female relative, according to the court document.

“You tell anyone, I’m going to jail,” Caruso told the child’s father, according to the affidavit.

The boy’s father also spoke with Tracy Caruso, who said her husband faced a “life in jail kinda thing” if police knew about the alleged behavior, according to the affidavit.

In February, the boy’s father confronted Caruso again about the abuse allegations while wearing a wire for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the affidavit states.

During that conversation, Caruso “asserted that the allegations were impossible because, in substance, sexual deviation is directed toward only one sex rather than two, and because he is attracted to women he could not be a sex offender,” the affidavit states.

Caruso urged the boy’s father to keep quiet, allegedly saying, “If you report this to the authorities, there won’t be any of me left, I can tell you that,” according to the affidavit. 

Caruso sponsored that Antisemitism Awareness law with Fine (before he became a U.S. House member). Those two along with DeSantis went to Israel for that bill to be signed into law.

A rep for McConnell did not immediately respond to Mediaite’s request for comment.

McConnell was reportedly found unconscious in his Washington, DC home on June 14 and hasn’t been to work since.

His office repeatedly refused to give detailed answers to questions about his whereabouts or later, his health status, at times issuing the same verbatim statements before ultimately releasing two different photos of McConnell with his wife, former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.

McConnell’s absence has sparked controversy with critics demanding transparency and Beshear calling out the Senator’s refusal to tell voters why he’s not at work.

Beshear told CBS News’ White House political correspondent Ed O’Keefe on Face the Nation Sunday that McConnell “absolutely refuses” to make a video showing he’s alive and well.

“His boss[es] are the people of Kentucky, and this is why the Senate, the Republican-controlled Senate, feels so broken,” Beshear said.

“They feel like they’re not accountable to anyone. All he needs to do is call into this show for two minutes, or Fox for two minutes, or do a video for two minutes to the people he’s supposed to serve. But you know what? He absolutely refuses to do it.”

I mean we are seeing his cognitve decline the moment he fell, froze and forgot what he spoke about. Yet, they were all on former president Joe Biden when he stuttered.

Now there's rumors that his staff is prepared to announce that he is resigning. That has enraged Democrats and some Republicans. For a lawmaker who spent over 40 years being a protectionist of white supremacy his last middle finger will be his resignation to prvent Beshear from appointing a replacement or the Kentucky state legislature intentionally blocking him from doing so by issuing a special election.

Boomers (1946 to 1975) are the generation of selfishness. They think the younger generation is lazier and not willing to put in the work. They stuck on their rigid views of America back in their days. They are not willing to accept change or adapt to new things.

McConnell made millions off the lobbying, the extensive contacts and luxury gifts.

His absence only makes me wonder why the elite have it way better than the working class.
