Republicans have to resort to gerrymandering and authoritarism to win elections.

They have no popular policies. It's always culture wars. A great way to distract from a crappy economy, lackluster jobs, stagnant wages and global uncertainty.

A civil war is coming.

Gov. Mike Kehoe of Missouri has a job approval of 37%. He is unpopular within his state. He and Republicans have to resort to gerrymandering to keep a majority.

They go against the voters who picked their candidates to represent them.

Kehoe signed a new U.S. House map into law Sunday as part of President Donald J. Trump’s plan to try to hold on to a narrow Republican majority in next year’s congressional election.

Kehoe’s signature puts the revised districts into state law with a goal of helping Republicans win one additional seat. But it may not be the final action. Opponents are pursuing a referendum petition that, if successful, would force a statewide vote on the new map. They also have brought several lawsuits against it.

U.S. House districts were redrawn across the country after the 2020 census to account for population changes. But Missouri is the third state this year to try to redraw its districts for partisan advantage, a process known as gerrymandering.

Republican lawmakers in Texas passed a new U.S. House map last month aimed at helping their party win five additional seats. Democratic lawmakers in California countered with their own redistricting plan aimed at winning five more seats, though it still needs voter approval. Other states also are considering redistricting.

Each seat could be critical, because Democrats need to gain just three seats to win control of the House, which would allow them to obstruct Trump’s agenda and launch investigations into him. Trump is trying to stave off a historic trend in which the president’s party typically loses seats in midterm elections.

Republicans currently hold six of Missouri’s eight U.S. House seats. The new map targets a seat held by Democratic U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver by shaving off portions of his Kansas City district and stretching the rest of it into Republican-heavy rural areas. It reduces the number of Black and minority residents in Cleaver’s district, which he has represented for two decades after serving as Kansas City’s first Black mayor.

Cleaver has denounced the redistricting plan for using Kansas City’s Troost Avenue — a street that has long segregated Black and white residents — as one of the dividing lines for the new districts.

Kehoe has defended the new map as a means of boosting Missouri’s “conservative, common-sense values” in the nation’s capital.

“Missourians are more alike than we are different, and our values, across both sides of the aisle, are closer to each other than those of the congressional representation of states like New York, California, and Illinois. We believe this map best represents Missourians, and I appreciate the support and efforts of state legislators, our congressional delegation, and President Trump in getting this map to my desk,” Kehoe said in a statement.

Opponents are gathering petition signatures seeking to force a statewide referendum on the new map. They have until Dec. 11 to submit around 110,000 valid signatures, which would put the map on hold until a public vote can occur sometime next year.

Meanwhile, opponents also are pursuing a variety of legal challenges. Several lawsuits by voters, including a new one announced Sunday by a Democratic-affilated group, contend mid-decade redistricting isn’t allowed under Missouri’s constitution.

“It was not prompted by the law or a court order; it was the result of Republican lawmakers in Missouri following partisan directives from politicians in Washington, D.C.,” said Marina Jenkins, executive director of the National Redistricting Foundation, a nonprofit affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

A previously filed lawsuit by the NAACP contends no “extraordinary occasion” existed for Kehoe to call lawmakers into session for redistricting.

A lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union also asserts that the new Kansas City area districts violate state constitutional requirements to be compact and contain equal populations. It notes that the redistricting legislation lists a “KC 811” voting precinct in both the fourth and fifth congressional districts, which it asserts is grounds to invalidate the new map.

But Kehoe’s office said there is no error. It said other government agencies had assigned the same name to two distinct voting locations.

Inspired by loneliness, politics, job loss, social media trends, endless perceptions of others, the lack of opportunities (besides joining the military) and the need to be ahead of everyone else is what drives these fools to commit endless chaos.

White privilege also santizes the white shooters. Already we are getting details of the three mass shooters. Glaring profiles of these white mass shooters to paint them as unfortunate circumstances. Ignoring the fact, these terrorists had signs of potential danger but their families thought it was just noise.

The real issue is gun violence. Not comedians. Not activists. Not Black men. Not immigrants. Not Muslims. Not transgender Americans. Not video games. Not movies. Not rap music. Not the left.

A man made crisis that can be solved if these incompetent politicians and media agitators stop making excuses. Instead offering words, how about policies?

The United States is the most violent country in the world. Israel and Russia follow behind respectfully. Israel, Russia and the United States are the most hated countries in the world. 

The United States is downsizing in democracy and freedom.

The mass shooter in Grand Blanc, Michigan

A former Marine sniper crashed his truck into a Church of Latter-day Saints facility in Grand Blanc, Michigan near Flint. The shooter opened fire on parishioners and then set his vehicle on fire. He was killed when the authorities arrived. The shooter was allegedly strapped with bomb making material.

On the morning of September 28, 2025, a mass shooting occurred at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) meetinghouse in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, United States. According to police, a shooter rammed his vehicle into the church and then opened fire on a crowd of worshippers inside. A large fire, believed to have been set by the shooter, broke out in the church building after the shooting. 

Four people were killed, and one is in critical condition after being injured. Another eight were injured and are currently in stable condition. Authorities believe that there may be more victims found inside the church. The shooter was killed by police on the scene within eight minutes of the attack.

The shooter, who is believed to have also set the church on fire, was identified as an Iraq War veteran, aged 40, from Burton, Michigan. Investigators are conducting a search of his suspected residence and authorities are working to obtain search warrants for digital media.

Born in 1985, he was raised in Atlas Township, Michigan. After graduating from Goodrich High School in nearby Goodrich in 2003, he left the United States in June 2004 and joined the Marines in Okinawa, Japan. He earned honors on the rifle range and would later achieve the rank of sergeant, before he was sent to serve in Fallujah in Iraq in August 2007. He returned to the United States in March 2008 and left the Marines three months later. Prior to his employment in the Marines, he was a tow truck driver who helped recover damaged vehicles.

Shortly before marrying his wife, he worked as a Coca-Cola trucker. After their marriage, the couple had a baby boy with a rare brain condition called congenital hyperinsulinism. According to a GoFundMe page from 2015, the family was in need of donations to help pay for the medical care of the child. That same year, an article from Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, indicated that his son was the first in the nation to receive an experimental therapy for abnormally high levels of insulin.

A neighbor who lived near the suspect's home described the suspect as "a good neighbor who plowed driveways for free throughout his entire neighborhood."

The mass shooter in Southport, North Carolina 

On September 27, 2025, a person opened fire from a boat in the Intracoastal Waterway at the American Fish Company in Southport, North Carolina, United States. Three people were killed and an additional five were injured.

This shooter attacked a large gathering on the edge of a nightclub. He shot from a motorboat. He is a former Marine sniper. It was a deadly mass shooting.

The Southport Police Department arrested and charged 40-year-old Nigel Max Edge of New City, New York, who lived in Oak Island at the time of the shooting, after custody was passed to them by the Oak Island Police Department. Edge was charged with three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He is due in court on September 29.

Nigel Max Edge, born Sean William DeBevoise in 1985, is a combat Iraq War veteran who was born and raised in New City, graduated from Clarkstown High School North in 2003, and served as a marine sniper in both Haiti and Iraq.

During his shift in the war, DeBevoise was severely wounded after being shot four times during the raid of an Al Zaidan warehouse on May 16, 2006, with one bullet partially piercing his brain and one bullet paralyzing his left leg. Edge had legally changed his name in 2023. Edge authored a book under his previous name titled Headshot-Betrayal of a Nation (Truth Hurts), released while residing in his Oak Island home in 2020.

At around 9:30 p.m., a person on a boat coming up Cape Fear River opened fire on the American Fish Company bar, an outdoor bar venue on the bank of the Intracoastal Waterway. The boat was then seen proceeding up the waterway.

Shortly after 10:00 p.m., the United States Coast Guard observed a person who matched the description of the shooter loading a boat at a public boat ramp in Oak Island to the west. The Coast Guard detained the suspect before handing them over to local police.

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Just a normal kid who got a firearm from his family.

The mass shooter in Dallas, Texas.

This was a deadly shooting. The Immigrant Customs Enforcement officers were escorting three detainees to its facility when a white man shot from a roof hitting three men while they were in handcuffs. The shooter then took his life after the law cornered him.

Police sources identified the shooter as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn. Law enforcement responded to two addresses possibly linked to Jahn in Fairview, Texas (where Jahn and his parents lived throughout most of his life), and Durant, Oklahoma (where he once resided).

Records indicated that Jahn most recently lived in Durant.

Jahn was born in April 1996 and grew up in Allen, Texas. After Jahn's family moved to nearby Fairview, Jahn attended Collin College sporadically from 2013 to 2018, but is not known to have graduated. During this time, he worked various retail jobs for short periods. Jahn was arrested in Collin County in 2015 for marijuana possession and was charged the following year.

After he pleaded guilty the following year, he was ordered to pay a $500 fine and was put on probation for five years, but he eventually qualified for early release in April 2017.

In 2017, Jahn moved to Benton City, Washington, living in his car and working a seasonal job harvesting legal marijuana. His employer told The New York Times that Jahn was "a weirdo" who he "could tell... was just lost", and said he felt sorry for him but eventually let him go because he was not reliable. The man said Jahn never discussed politics around him. Jahn then returned to Texas and got a job installing solar panels in 2018, but this job lasted "less than a few months," according to the company. The Times found no documentation of Jahn holding any job after his departure from this company in 2019.

He was a good kid says his family.

Jahn's brother said that he was not especially interested in politics and had not voiced opinions to his family opposing ICE, stating that "I didn't know he had any political intent at all". The brother also said his parents owned a rifle and Jahn knew how to use it but opined "He would not be able to make any shots like that."

Jahn was a registered independent in Oklahoma and last voted there in November 2024; he also voted in the 2020 Texas Democratic presidential primary in March of that year. According to the Times, Jahn had an extensive online presence including at least two Reddit accounts, but little of his online activity was overtly political; most of it concerned marijuana, cars, video gaming, and South Park.

Initially, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported two of the three victims died, but later reported one of them died while the other two were in critical condition. Federal officials at first declined to divulge any other information about the victims, drawing criticism from a civil rights advocacy group.

On September 26, federal officials named the victims and described them as a Mexican man, a Venezuelan man, and a third man from an unspecified country. Officials would not say which victim had been killed, what criminal allegations the victims faced, or where the others were being treated, or detail their condition. A man identifying himself as his brother told the news media that the Mexican victim was one of the critically injured pair.

On September 27, the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office identified the deceased victim as Norlan Guzman-Fuentes; an anonymous DHS press release confirmed his identity and said he was from El Salvador, but did not divulge the condition or location of the other victims.

So I just want to say that the Second Amendment is White, period.

A bullet does not care about color. We all bleed red and so many lives are lost to gun violence and Republicans offer no solutions other than "thoughts and prayers" with a touch of "lock em up."

Gun violence is the number one threat in the United States.

I dismiss this ridiculous notion that criminals are the problem, not the guns. Firearms are often obtained through legal purchases. 

Again, having more security, teachers being armed and offering safe rooms are not solving the problem. The problem is lawmakers not willing to stop gun violence.

According to the far right: White shooters are always mentally ill or lone wolves. The far right believes they should receive some sympathy for their crimes. Black shooters are unrepentant thugs and criminals who deserve lengthy time in the iron college or death. Gay and transgender shooters are active groomers who want to be pedophiles on children. Muslim shooters are terrorists who should be surveiled or deported. Hispanic and Asian shooters are illegal immigrants and they should be deported. According to the far right, almost all white [or non-white] mass shooters are registered Democrats [leftist or some progressive activist] because they have liked or done one thing common to the politics of the left. Of course, they often share or post disinformation by using the ridiculous "Sam Hyde" meme or make bogus social media platforms with the shooter's image as a way to denounce most mass shooters being white or associated with conservative causes. The far right says a white person should "protect" themselves from thugs, terrorists or protesters. They believe the use of firearms are "justified" if they are protesting or even instigating a conflict. The far right believes if a shooter is a police officer, an active military member, a veteran or a citizen who supports conservative causes, they are considered a "heroes" and use of firearms are justified. If the shooters are teens in urban communities, the far right automatically assume the gunmen are Black. Even if the evidence turns out that the shooter has alignment with conservative causes or Republicans, the far right dismisses it as a hoax or a plot to demonize the MAGA movement.

Trump lacks empathy or even sympathy.

The Republicans usually amplify white victims. Anytime a person of color kills a white victim, it is often wall-to-wall coverage on Fox, Twitter and they force it into national news. They make the case to blame Black Lives Matter, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Democrats, Rev. Al Sharpton and rap music for Black on whatever violence. Republican lawmakers who do not live in urban neighborhoods often troll social media to talk about gun violence or crime in Chicago, Baltimore, Milwaukee and New York City while not doing a damn thing to stop it. If a white person shoots a Black person, the shooter is given the benefit of doubt. White shooters are given glowing profiles about their perfect lives and how friends noticed something but refused to do something. When it comes to Black shooters, automatic vilification. They don't see mental illness. They see it as gang violence, allegedly fatherless homes, Democratic policies or the need for more firearms.

Holding these lawmakers accountable is not just a pledge, but a promise. You need to learn who represents your community. Your local community member, your school board member, your mayor, your state representative, your state senator, your governor, your U.S. Representative, your U.S. Senator and the president need to be held accountable for their actions.

We need to put pressure on Republicans and Democrats to do something to improve everyone's lives.

Keep pressure on them with Israel. 

Israel must be held accountable for war crimes and the U.S. must end its aid. 

Our taxpayer money should not help Israel any further.

Republicans have extremely unpopular ideas. They will find out the risk of supporters being turned off by their policies.

Biden, Harris and the Democratic Party failed at understanding what is more important to the country. Trump, Vance and the Republican Party have already failed at understanding.

Expect more of these incidents with angry white men and firearms.

Both parties support of Israel had made some Arab Americans, Muslim and young voters vote against them. They have cost Biden a second term and Harris a historical victory.

You want our American military out of out of our cities, the Middle East and every fucking international conflict in the world. You want legislation to focus on lowering the cost of rent, lowering the cost of food, lowering the cost of hospital visits, improving healthcare and building relationships with other nations. Let them know that pulling out of the UN Human Rights Organization, World Health Organization and Paris Climate Accords will put the U.S. in danger when catastrophic event happen. Let them know that you are tired of private equity firms getting away with destroying small businesses and long established companies. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel and Ukraine. You are tired of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-semitic or in support of terrorism. 

We have bigger issues at home and our tax dollars should solve the housing crisis, lowering food prices, fixing roads, bridges, helping reinvest in struggling urban and rural communities. We have hospitals closing, big box retailers leaving communities and television programs dying. There are bigger issues in the country than Israel. You want an immediate ceasefire, a weapons embargo, sanctions and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more domestic or foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and lawmakers avoid influence from lobbyists and special interst groups.

Eric Adams Drops New York Mayor Bid After Trump And Netanyahu Meeting

One and done. The controversial New York mayor Eric Adams ends his reelection bid.

It is over for independent mayor of New York City. He will clear the path for either Curtis Silva or Andrew Cuomo to defeat Zohran Mandani. He is also looking forward to a position with President Donald J. Trump in the coming months.

President Donald J. Trump, Israeli regime leader Benjamin Netanyahu and Jonathan Greenblatt of the Anti-Defamation League had likely secretly met with Adams to discuss a consolidation of powers. With Cuomo being the closest rival to Mandani, these entities are urging Adams and Silva to end their bids and endorse the former New York governor.

That feisty interview with longtime ally Rev. Al Sharpton (who endorsed Mandani), Adams saw the writing on the wall. Why would anyone support a man who got away with corruption by partnering with corruption?

Adams announced Sunday that he is dropping his third-party bid for re-election, narrowing the field for November’s election.

“Despite all we’ve achieved, I cannot continue my re-election campaign,” Adams said in a video posted to X. “The constant media speculation about my future and the campaign finance board’s decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign.”

In a nearly nine-minute video, Adams — who enjoyed strong ratings from New Yorkers early in his term but saw his standing plummet after being indicted on federal corruption charges and then seeing those charges dropped by the Trump administration — said he hoped New Yorkers "will see that despite the headlines and the innuendo, I always put you before me."

Guess that talk got Eric Adams to drop out.

A source close to the mayor said that Adams’ dropping out was "unfortunate," noting that "his policies were best for this city."

The question now is how Adams’ move shapes the mayoral race going forward in the nation’s biggest city.

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is also running a third-party bid for mayor, said in a statement shared first with NBC News that he believes Adams "is sincere in putting the well-being of New York City ahead of personal ambition."

"We face destructive extremist forces that would devastate our city through incompetence or ignorance, but it is not too late to stop them," said Cuomo, referencing without naming Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, a state legislator.

Cuomo praised Adams, saying that he "has much to be proud of in his accomplishments."

"Whatever differences we may have, Eric Adams’ story is undeniably one of resilience — a testament to the spirit of this city," Cuomo said.

Adams’ announcement comes after weeks of speculation that he could exit the race and help consolidate non-Mamdani support behind Cuomo. Mamdani defeated Cuomo in the June Democratic primary.

However, Adams’ name will still be on ballots this fall, since he exited the race after a deadline to print them. And the limited public polling on the possibility of Adams dropping out showed Cuomo benefitting but a critical mass of voters also still siding with Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa. Those polls suggest that Cuomo's best shot at defeating Mamdani comes in a one-on-one race.

Adams has not been a major factor in the race for some time. The public polls have shown him running in a distant fourth place, with Mamdani staked to a double-digit lead ahead of Cuomo and then Sliwa, with Adams further behind.

Adams urged his successor to "continue the work we started, lowering the cost of living, investing in quality of life and staying laser-focused on reducing crime and disorder through investments in policing, mental health, substance abuse care, homelessness services and community-based initiatives."

The mayor did not make an endorsement in the video, but Adams did appear to take a swipe at Mamdani, arguing that "extremism is growing in our politics."

"Too often, insidious forces use local government to advance divisive agendas with little regard for how it hurts everyday New Yorkers," he said. "Major change is welcome and necessary, but beware of those who claim the answer [is] to destroy the very system we built together over generations. That is not change, that is chaos."

Adams’ decision is a full reversal from his position just days ago, when he declared in a social media post on X that he was “not going anywhere.”

“All of the noise, all of the rumors — none of that matters,” he said in the same post.

But Adams laid out a rationale for dropping out in a Saturday MSNBC interview, in which he accused the media of sandbagging his campaign and lamented what he called “bogus” corruption charges against him. During a Sunday morning local radio appearance hours before dropping out, Adams focused exclusively on touting his administration’s achievements on issues like sanitation.

In an interview on "The Breakfast Club" that aired on Thursday, he suggested that reports of him considering dropping out or being offered other positions hurt his fundraising efforts.

“I answered that 101 times,” Adams said when asked whether he would drop out of the race.

“Our goal is to finish this race,” he added later, noting that he believed he had to win a court battle over campaign funds.

Earlier this month, President Donald Trump told reporters he would like to see two candidates in the crowded election leave the race to boost the chances of defeating Mamdani, a progressive who trounced Cuomo in New York’s Democratic primary in June.

“I would like to see two people drop out and have it be one on one,” Trump said at a White House dinner in early September. “I think that’s a race that could be won.”

“I don’t think you can win unless you have one on one, because somehow he’s gotten a little bit of a lead,” Trump added. “I don’t like to see a communist become mayor, I will tell you that.”

Adams was elected as a Democrat in 2021. But he decided earlier this year to seek re-election as an independent, amid cratering poll numbers in his party in the aftermath of his federal indictment and then the move by Trump’s Department of Justice to drop those charges, arguing that it needed Adams’ cooperation on the president’s immigration and deportation agenda.

Adams was indicted in September 2024 on federal charges, including bribery and campaign finance violations. The Department of Justice alleged that he “used his prominent positions in New York City government to obtain illegal campaign contributions and luxury travel.”

White shooter attacked immigrants detained at an ICE facility in Dallas. He killed two detained. He committed suicide.

Dallas, Texas

One person was killed and two people are in critical condition after a shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. 

Acting ICE director Todd Lyons identified the shooter as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn. He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said. 

All three of the victims shot were detainees of the facility, federal authorities said. On Saturday the detainee who was killed was identified by the Dallas County Medical Examiner as 37-year-old Norlan Guzman-Fuentes. In a statement provided to CBS News Saturday, ICE said Guzman-Fuentes was from El Salvador. 

The two wounded detainees were identified by ICE as Miguel Angel Garcia-Hernandez of Mexico and Jose Andres Bordones-Molina of Venezuela. 

A Homeland Security official told CBS News that all three men had criminal histories in the U.S.  

DHS had issued a correction Wednesday afternoon after previously reporting that two people were killed and one person was in critical condition.

The facility is located along I-35E, just southwest of Dallas Love Field Airport.

Dallas police said officers responded to an assist officer call at the facility around 6:40 a.m. An initial law enforcement report indicated the gunman was positioned at an elevated location. The gunman opened fire from the rooftop of an attorney's office across the street from the ICE Detention facility, on Empress Street.

Just after 10 a.m., ICE said the scene was secured. According to ICE, the shooter opened fire on the facility, firing "indiscriminately at the building and those in the sallyport."

"Early evidence that we've seen from rounds that were found near the suspected shooter contain messages that are anti-ICE in nature," said Joe Rothrock, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Dallas field office.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted a photo and wrote, "One of the unspent shell casings recovered was engraved with the phrase 'ANTI ICE.'"

The Dallas Field Office serves as a temporary holding facility for some detainees. Between January 20 and mid-June, an average of 47 people were held there each day, spending roughly seven hours in detention, according to a CBS News analysis of ICE data compiled by the Vera Institute of Justice and the Deportation Data Project.

The Mexican Consulate in Dallas has confirmed that one of the victims who was shot is a Mexican national.    

August bomb threat at same Dallas ICE facility

Wednesday's shooting was not the first security threat at the Dallas ICE facility, according to DHS. 

Approximately one month earlier, DHS reported that a man, later identified as 36-year-old Bratton Dean Wilkinson, a U.S. citizen, approached the field office's reporting entrance and claimed to have a bomb in his backpack. 

Wilkinson allegedly showed a security officer what he described as a "detonator" strapped to his wrist, prompting a shelter-in-place order at the Dallas ICE facility, DHS said. The officer immediately contacted 911, and local law enforcement responded with a bomb squad. Wilkinson was taken into custody and later charged with making terroristic threats, DHS said.

DHS Secretary blames anti-ICE rhetoric for the Dallas shooting

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem condemned the violence and called for a national reckoning on the rhetoric surrounding ICE. Federal officials labeled the incident a targeted assault on law enforcement. 

In a strongly worded statement, Noem said:  

"Our prayers are with the families of those killed and our ICE law enforcement. This vile attack was motivated by hatred for ICE. For months, we've been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcementbefore someone was killed. This shooting must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences. Comparing ICE Day-in and day-out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences. The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer. Like everyone else, we just want to go home to our families at night. The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop. We are praying for the victims and their families."

Noem also ordered DHS to immediately begin increasing security at ICE facilities across the country.  

State, federal lawmakers react to shooting

Local, state and federal lawmakers reacted to the shooting, calling on violence against ICE agents to stop.

"My hearts and prayers go out to my officers and agents, [that's] my biggest concern as well as everyone in that area but this just shows the violence has been increased against ICE officers and agents," acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said in an interview with CNN. 

Lyons later told CBS News, "He could have, in his indiscriminate fire, hit people traveling to work, civilians on the ground," calling it "a very scary situation." He said ICE had already been operating under a "higher threat posture" and said they "won't be stopped by it.

Sen. Ted Cruz was in Dallas Wednesday morning. He repeatedly said that politically motivated violence needs to stop.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott expressed his support for ICE, saying the state fully supports ICE. 

"Both the Texas Dept. of Public Safety & Texas National Guard work closely with ICE. This assassination will NOT slow our arrest, detention, & deportation of illegal immigrants," he said on X. "We will work with ICE & the Dallas Police Dept. to get to the bottom of the assassin's motive. We will offer ICE additional support to assist their operations."

The far right is claiming this shooter was a leftist. In Texas, Republicans outnumber Democrats 2 to 1. They have stupid open carry laws and the shooter was likely raised in a conservative home with firearms or angst against immigrants.

Texas Department of Transportation cameras near the facility showed a heavy first responder presence with dozens of units.

"Please join me in prayer for the injured and their families from this morning's active shooter incident at the ICE facility in Dallas," Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said on X. "Violence and terror is never the answer to anything."  

The Fort Worth Police Department also posted on X, condemning the violence.

"The violence that occurred in Dallas, TX this morning is uncalled for and moments like this are deeply disturbing as it creates more division in our community at a time when the focus needs to be on how we can come together," the post reads. "We continue to ask our community that if you see something, say something."

CBS News confirmed that a bomb threat was made to the same office on Aug. 25. A man was arrested and charged after he claimed to have a detonator. He's been detained for weeks.

Second ICE facility attack in Texas in 2025

A Fourth of July attack at a Texas immigration detention center injured a police officer, who was shot in the neck. 

Attackers dressed in black military-style clothing opened fire outside the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, southwest of Dallas, federal prosecutors said. At least 11 people have been charged in connection with the attack.

Attack against CBP federal agents in McAllen, Texas

A man with an assault rifle fired dozens of rounds at federal agents as they were leaving a U.S. Border Patrol facility in McAllen on July 7. 

The man, identified as Ryan Louis Mosqueda, injured a police officer who responded to the scene before authorities shot and killed him. Police later found other weaponry, ammunition and backpacks inside his car.

"The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop," Vice President JD Vance said on X. "I'm praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families."

For some reason, a mass shooter opened fire on bar patrons from a boat in North Carolina.

Southport, North Carolina

A North Carolina man is accused of opening fire from a boat into a crowd gathered at a waterfront bar in a coastal town in North Carolina, killing three and injuring several others, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting erupted about 9:30 p.m. Saturday near a popular stretch of bars and restaurants on Southport’s waterfront, a historic port town about 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of Wilmington. Investigators said the alleged assailant, identified by Southport city officials as Nigel Edge of nearby Oak Island, piloted a small boat close to shore, stopped briefly and fired into the crowd before speeding away.

Edge was arrested on three counts of first-degree murder, five counts of attempted first-degree murder and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, according to city spokeswoman ChyAnn Ketchum.

This shooter attacked from a boat. This guy appears to be another incel who struggled to find love and decided to take revenge on the people who scorned him.

It was not immediately known whether Edge has an attorney to speak on his behalf. No attorney was listed on court documents.

Roughly half an hour after the shooting, a U.S. Coast Guard crew spotted a person matching the suspect’s description pulling a boat from the water at a public ramp on Oak Island. The person was detained and turned over to Southport police for questioning, officials said.

Authorities have not said what might have led to the attack at American Fish Company. Police scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators from multiple agencies — including the State Bureau of Investigation and the Coast Guard — remained on the water and at the scene Sunday collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.

Officials did not immediately release the names of those killed or provide information on the conditions of those who were wounded.

Grand Blanc Township, Michigan

A mass shooting and fire rattled the community of Grand Blanc on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 28.

The Grand Blanc Township Police Department posted to Facebook shortly after 11 a.m. that there were "multiple" victims at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc. It also said the shooter is down and the building's on fire.

"There are multiple victims and the shooter is down" at the church, at 4285 McCandlish Road in Grand Blanc, the police department said. "There is NO threat to the public at this time. The church is actively on fire. For people on site, the reuinification site is the pavilion to the north. Offsite reunification will be at Trillium Theater on Holly and McCandlish. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!"

Genesee County Sheriff Christopher Swanson posted a Facebook video from the scene, saying he is working in conjunction with local, state and federal authorities.

"The entire church is on fire. ... This is a dynamic scene," Swanson said. "... There's going to be more updates. Just know that there's a lot of things that are happening that we are not able to communicate just because of the work that needs to be done."

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement on X that her office is monitoring the situation in Grand Blanc.

"My heart is breaking for the Grand Blanc community. Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable," Whitmer wrote. "I am grateful to the first responders who took action quickly. We will continue to monitor the situation and hold the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Grand Blanc close."

So I just want to say that the Second Amendment is White, period.

A bullet does not care about color. We all bleed red and so many lives are lost to gun violence and Republicans offer no solutions other than "thoughts and prayers" with a touch of "lock em up."

I dismiss this ridiculous notion that criminals are the problem, not the guns. Firearms are often obtained through legal purchases. 

Again, having more security, teachers being armed and offering safe rooms are not solving the problem. The problem is lawmakers not willing to stop gun violence.

According to the far right: White shooters are always mentally ill or lone wolves. The far right believes they should receive some sympathy for their crimes. Black shooters are unrepentant thugs and criminals who deserve lengthy time in the iron college or death. Gay and transgender shooters are active groomers who want to be pedophiles on children. Muslim shooters are terrorists who should be surveiled or deported. Hispanic and Asian shooters are illegal immigrants and they should be deported. According to the far right, almost all white [or non-white] mass shooters are registered Democrats [leftist or some progressive activist] because they have liked or done one thing common to the politics of the left. Of course, they often share or post disinformation by using the ridiculous "Sam Hyde" meme or make bogus social media platforms with the shooter's image as a way to denounce most mass shooters being white or associated with conservative causes. The far right says a white person should "protect" themselves from thugs, terrorists or protesters. They believe the use of firearms are "justified" if they are protesting or even instigating a conflict. The far right believes if a shooter is a police officer, an active military member, a veteran or a citizen who supports conservative causes, they are considered a "heroes" and use of firearms are justified. If the shooters are teens in urban communities, the far right automatically assume the gunmen are Black. Even if the evidence turns out that the shooter has alignment with conservative causes or Republicans, the far right dismisses it as a hoax or a plot to demonize the MAGA movement.

The Republicans usually amplify white victims. Anytime a person of color kills a white victim, it is often wall-to-wall coverage on Fox, Twitter and they force it into national news. They make the case to blame Black Lives Matter, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Democrats, Rev. Al Sharpton and rap music for Black on whatever violence. Republican lawmakers who do not live in urban neighborhoods often troll social media to talk about gun violence or crime in Chicago, Baltimore, Milwaukee and New York City while not doing a damn thing to stop it. If a white person shoots a Black person, the shooter is given the benefit of doubt. White shooters are given glowing profiles about their perfect lives and how friends noticed something but refused to do something. When it comes to Black shooters, automatic vilification. They don't see mental illness. They see it as gang violence, allegedly fatherless homes, Democratic policies or the need for more firearms. 

Trump gave us open season.

Your local community member, your school board member, your mayor, your state representative, your state senator, your governor, your U.S. Representative, your U.S. Senator and the president need to be held accountable for their actions.

We need to put pressure on Republicans and Democrats to do something to improve everyone's lives.

Keep pressure on them with Israel. 

Israel must be held accountable for war crimes and the U.S. must end its aid. 

Our taxpayer money should not help Israel any further.

Republicans have extremely unpopular ideas. They will find out the risk of supporters being turned off by their policies.

Biden, Harris and the Democratic Party failed at understanding what is more important to the country. Trump, Vance and the Republican Party have already failed at understanding.

You want legislation to focus on lowering the cost of rent, lowering the cost of food, lowering the cost of hospital visits, improving healthcare and building relationships with other nations. Let them know that pulling out of the UN Human Rights Organization, World Health Organization and Paris Climate Accords will put the U.S. in danger when catastrophic event happen. Let them know that you are tired of private equity firms getting away with destroying small businesses and long established companies. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel and Ukraine. You are tired of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-semitic or in support of terrorism. 

We have bigger issues at home and our tax dollars should solve the housing crisis, lowering food prices, fixing roads, bridges, helping reinvest in struggling urban and rural communities. We have hospitals closing, big box retailers leaving communities and television programs dying. There are bigger issues in the country than Israel. You want an immediate ceasefire, a weapons embargo, sanctions and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more domestic or foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and lawmakers avoid influence from lobbyists and special interst groups.
