Took over a year and some months to finally bring closure to a story that made national headlines.
The Columbus, Ohio woman who worked as a Uber delivery driver was shot and killed by William Brock, an 83 year old man who held her at gunpoint on the false belief she was trying to rob him. Lo-letha Hall, 61 was just doing her job trying to deliver food, pick up riders and packages.
Instead of writing down the license plate, Brock took the decision to kidnap her, shoot her in the leg, steal her phone and when she tried to push him down, he shot her multiple times.
Lo-letha was a victim. She didn't travel to Clark County expecting her life was in danger.
I get that Brock was concerned for his safety. I get it. He is old, vulnerable to the scams and fully aware of the dangers of a stranger. He could have just called 9-1-1 before pulling the trigger. Matter of fact, he should have not answered the damn door. Hell, he could have not answered the damn phone when they demanded he pay a ransom.
Nope, he thought he could use the Ohio castle doctrine and stand your ground law.
He thought being an old white man with no serious criminal history would give him a pass. He actually believed that the Department of Justice under Pam Bondi would intervene. Hell, he allegedly wrote to President Donald J. Trump begging him to get Ohio governor Mike DeWine to commute or pardon him.
In a three day jury trial, the verdict is guilty on three counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of kidnapping.
The defense argued that Brock shot and killed Lo-Letha Hall in self-defense, but the jurors didn’t buy that.

| This iconic image shows the callous actions of a killer. Lo-letha Hall did not deserve this. |
Prosecutors said Hall was an innocent victim who didn’t deserve to die.
Clark County Prosecutor Dan Driscoll said these incidents are a perfect reminder to avoid scam calls. He also said the system failed Lo-letha.
Brock showed no remorse as the verdict was read. He thought he could take the stand in his own defense. Big mistake. He literally told the jurors that no matter how this went down, he felt he did the right thing.
“The system can’t bring her back. And that’s really unfortunate. But perhaps it gives them that sense of justice, that sense of closure to this whole ordeal,” Driscoll said.
Brock saw the tears in that poor woman's eyes. He still pulled the damn trigger.
Me and LaReyna have talked about this story for the past year. I am very satisfied with the verdict. No amount of verdicts will ever bring Lo-letha back. Her life will be honored for the good she did for her family and friends.
The Clark County prosecutor also is working with the FBI to find out who made the calls that lead to the fatal outcome. Uber did ban the accounts related to the call.
