The clash of moguls. Disgraced media mogul Russell Simmons slams Oprah Winfrey for doing a video about his sexual accusations instead of white sexual absuers. |
It involves the allegations of sexual predatory behavior. Media mogul Russell Simmons has laid low after women accused him of sexual abuse. Since 2017 launched the MeToo Movement, many powerful individuals in the country have felt the sting. Thanks to Donald J. Trump's election win, many women are coming out with stories of being abused by the very men they've looked up to.
Multiple women have accused Simmons of rape, sexual assault and battery. He has stepped down from Def Jam, Phat Farm, Rush Communications and Credit, Argyleculture and Tantris.
Oprah Winfrey the iconic media mogul and former talk show host decided to host a documentary on AppleTV+ and it features accusers of Simmons.
Simmons decided to get off his perch and chime in on the controversy.
Simmons denies the allegations and said that "it's troubling that you choose to single me out in your recent shit. I have already admitted to be a playboy more (appropriately titled today 'womanizer') sleeping with and putting myself in more compromising situations than almost any man I know."
"Not 8 or 14 thousand like Warren Beatty or Wilt Chamberlain, but still an embarrassing number. so many things could reinterpret or reimagine a different recollection of the same experiences."
The Unit's 50 Cent slams Oprah Winfrey for doing videos on Russell Simmons. He said she could be focusing on white predators like Donald Trump. |
Over a dozen women have came forward with allegations against Simmons, with one unidentified woman filing a $10 million lawsuit in March 2018 accusing him of rape. The lawsuit is pending after Simmons tried to get it dismissed in August.
Winfrey's Apple+ documentary will focus on "a former music executive who grapples with whether to go public with her story of assault and abuse by a notable figure in the industry."
As you expect, rap troll 50 Cent got into the mix. He posted this along with Snoop Dogg and others.
Oprah also received criticism from some who questioned why she wasn't focusing on Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein. 50 Cent took to Instagram to defend Simmons, saying he doesn't "understand why Oprah is going after black men."
50 Cent wants his 25 million Instagram followers to know that Oprah Winfrey is "going after Black men." After it was announced last week that Winfrey will be executive producing a documentary about the sexual misconduct allegations against Russell Simmons, the rapper called her out for choosing the hip-hop mogul as the subject of her new project and not, instead, white movie producer Harvey Weinstein. "I just want to know why she is only going after her own," 50 Cent wrote in one of several Instagram posts on the matter. "When it's clear the penalties have been far more extreme for African American men."
