The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is coming back. |
Will Smith is developing a spin-off series to the hit 1990s sitcom.
The entertainer at first dismissed the rumors of a reboot.
The show launched Smith's career as an actor, having already gaining fame as a rapper and music producer. The rapper played a fictional version of himself for six seasons on the NBC comedy series.
Will Smith was once known as The Fresh Prince. He and his longtime friend and producer Jeffrey Townes (aka DJ Jazzy Jeff) have rap through the 1980s and 1990s as a duo.
Will Smith was damn good comedian on that show. |
The series starred Smith but also, the late James Avery (Uncle Phil), Karyn Parsons (Hilary), Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton), Tatyana Ali (Ashley), Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey) and Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv).
Daphne Maxwell Reid replaced the controversial actress Janet Hubert after the third season. Hubert who was the original Aunt Viv had got into a heated feud with the cast after she demanded that she get more air time and pay for the series. She was fired out the cannon and replaced at the start of the fourth season.
In the meantime, Smith is working on a fashion line based off the series.
He's going to bring out the freshest line of clothing through his Bel-Air Athletics line.
Ready for the Fresh Prince?
This is the memorable episode. Will's dad, Lou promised to take him on his trip. At the last minute, Lou backs out leaving a disappointed Will to tearfully reply to Phil, "How come he don't want me?"
