Trump calls Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and Baltimore trash. |
Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA......— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
....As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
Democrats don’t care about Border Security. They refuse to give the votes necessary to fix the Loopholes and Asylum. Would be so easy! They want Open Borders, which means CRIME,CRIME,CRIME!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
Trump even used that effeminate chicken smacker Terrence K. Williams as an example.
Elijah Cummings spends all of his time trying to hurt innocent people through “Oversight.” He does NOTHING for his very poor, very dangerous and very badly run district! Take a look.... #BlacksForTrump2020 https://t.co/seNVESZUht— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 27, 2019
Trump's comments about Cummings included the city of Baltimore. The city is less than 50 miles from Washington, DC. It's the largest city in Maryland and is considered independent from county.
The city's population is 614,000 residents and it's a majority Black city. The former mayor Catherine Pugh was forced out after she face a federal sandwich. The city was infamous for the Baltimore Police and it's brutal treatment of citizens. One in particular was Freddie Gray. His death sparked a few nights of unrest. It also made far-white agitators find scapegoats in Cummings, then mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, state prosecutor Marilyn Mosby and former president Barack Obama.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) warns Trump to cut the crap. |
Trump calls the lawmaker a "brutal bully" and said that district is as a "disgusting, rodent infested mess." He said that Baltimore is "FAR WORSE and more dangerous than the nation's southern border."
Many go back to Trump's earlier remarks about the African Union and Haiti being "shitholes."
Remember Trump denied ever calling the 54 African nations and the Caribbean country that derogatory remark.
The 7th Congressional District covers just about half of Baltimore, Howard County and Baltimore County, Maryland.
Cummings fired back.
Mr. President, we can address this together. Two years ago, I went to the White House to ask you to endorse my bill to let the government negotiate directly for lower drug prices.— Elijah E. Cummings (@RepCummings) July 27, 2019
The district has a lot of upper income. I don't understand why Trump decided to rail on Cummings.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) came out swinging.
"Rep. Cummings is a champion in the Congress and the country for civil rights and economic justice, a beloved leader in Baltimore, and deeply valued colleague. We all reject racist attacks against him and support his steadfast leadership."
Pelosi was born in Baltimore before she moved to California.
Trump was pissed at Cummings for his harsh questioning of Kevin McAleenan the acting Homeland Security chief who allowed migrants seeking asylum stay in filthy conditions.
Current mayor Bernard C. Young (known as Jack Young) slammed Trump and Republicans.
"[The remarks expressed by President Donald Trump and Republicans are] completely unacceptable. The political leader of our country [decides to] denigrate a vibrant American city like Baltimore, and to viciously attack U.S. Elijah Cummings [who is] a patriot and hero. Mr. Trump's rhetoric is hurtful and dangerous to the people he's sworn to represent."
