The same party that allowed 620,000 Americans to die from the coronavirus. The same party that refuses to criminally indict members of Washed Up 45's allies for their roles in meddling in the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Elections. The same party that is running on false claims of voter fraud and voter intimidation. The same party that continues to believe their policies are popular with the general public.

A Washington Post/ABC News poll released Friday showed that Americans disapprove of President Joe Biden's handling of crime by a 48 percent to 38 percent margin. And 59 percent say crime is an "extremely" or "very" serious problem. Additionally, 55 percent say more funding for police would result in a decline in violent crime.
President Biden continues to push for bipartisanship despite the QAnon Caucus of Republicans opposing him.
Ultimately, Republicans are unified rhetorically on funding for traditional policing and Democrats are divided over that.
Washed Up 45 is leading the charge for the GOP on the policing message.
"After just five months, the Biden administration is already a complete and total catastrophe," the former president said at a rally in Ohio in late June. "I told you, crime is surging. Murders are soaring. Police departments are being gutted. Illegal aliens are overrunning their borders. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it."
It's not just Republicans who see Democrats vulnerable on the issue.
Biden rejected the framing of the "defund the police" movement during his 2020 bid for the White House, calling for additional resources for state and local law enforcement. In retrospectives conducted by Democrats about the 2020 election, the lack of clarity about where they stand on policing was cited as a cause for their disappointing results in several congressional races. And Democratic activist groups are trying to figure out how best to respond — if at all — to the Republican line of attack.
Democrats defunded the police.
Crime in those cities skyrocketed.
Now Democrats are trying to blame Republicans.
But everyone knows the truth: Democrats are the party of defund the police.
n recent days, the Biden administration and its allies in Congress have tried to turn the narrative around by pointing to lawmakers' votes against an American Rescue Plan law that provided $350 billion to state governments.
"Republicans are very good at staying on talking points," White House director of public engagement Cedric Richmond said on Fox News on Sunday. "But the truth is, they defunded the police, we funded crime intervention.”
Republicans argue that Biden bears responsibility for the members of his party who want to take money away from police forces — or reallocate it to programs that address systemic issues that sometimes result in police interactions, such as mental health challenges, homelessness and poverty.
"President Biden’s failure to hold his own party accountable for defunding police is endangering communities and triggering a spike in crime across the country," said Emma Vaughn, national press secretary for the Republican National Committee. "American small businesses, families and communities are experiencing the devastating effects of anti-police rhetoric and police department budget cuts at the hands of Democrat politicians."
What's not in dispute is that violent crime is surging. For example, the murder rate in the United States increased by 25 percent in 2020, ending a quarter century of decline, and that trend has continued into this year.
In some cities, rates in 2021 have been higher than the same periods in 2020, but that has been attributed to the relatively low crime rates in 2020 that were caused by pandemic lockdowns. Critics of Republican messaging have argued there isn't a surge, but a return to normalcy.
It's also indisputable that many major Democratic-run cities cut their police budgets in recent years, including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Some are now reversing or softening those decisions.
Lynn Vavreck, an expert on political messaging at the University of California, Los Angeles, said that identifiable examples of crime going up may be more important than the context of long trends or the rates at the time of the midterms.
"All that the reality needs to do is put that stuff on the table and then it will take on a life of its own," she said, adding that crime rates are a proxy for the cultural issues that remain infused in the national political debate in the post-Washed Up 45 era.
"Identity-inflected Trumpy issues have redefined this political moment," said Vavreck, who is working on a book about the 2020 election. "You know what’s going on here in your gut. This is about the BLM movement, the defund the police, the response to that. It’s about race and identity," she said, referring to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Republicans say that, come election time, it won't matter that Biden himself has proposed spending more money on police because voters understand that many Democrats disagree with him.
"The heart of their party has stamped loud and clear for the country how they feel about police and what specifically they want to happen to police departments," Conston said. "They are behind the eight ball."

World leaders react to the assassination of Haitian president Jovenel Moïse.
On Wednesday morning, the president of Haiti and his wife, Martine Moïse were shot by a group of men at the presidential palace.
His death will spark chaos in Haiti and put all world leaders on high alert. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, members of Congress and top intelligence officials were notified.
His death will inflicting more chaos on the Caribbean country that was already enduring gang violence, soaring inflation and protests by opposition supporters who accused the leader of increasing authoritarianism.
Interim Prime Minister Claude Joseph, who confirmed the killing, said the police and military were in control of security in Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas where a history of dictatorship and political upheaval have long stymied the consolidation of democratic rule.
Despite Joseph’s assurances that order would prevail, there was confusion about who should take control and widespread anxiety among Haitians. Authorities declared a “state of siege” in the country and closed the international airport.

The normally bustling streets of the capital, Port-au-Prince, were empty and quiet Wednesday. Sporadic gunshots were heard in the distance, public transportation was scarce, and some people searched for businesses that were open to food and water. Businesses had been ransacked in one area earlier.
Bocchit Edmond, the Haitian ambassador to the United States, said the attack on the 53-year-old Moïse was carried out by “well-trained professional commandos” and “foreign mercenaries” who were masquerading as agents of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA has an office in the Haitian capital to assist the government in counternarcotics programs, according to the U.S. Embassy.
Moïse’s wife, Martine, was in stable but critical condition and efforts were under way to move her to Miami for treatment, Edmond said in Washington.
Haiti has asked the U.S. government for assistance with the investigation, he said, adding that the assassins could have escaped over the land border to the Dominican Republic or by sea.
Haiti appeared to be heading for fresh volatility ahead of general elections later this year. Moïse had been ruling by decree for more than a year after failing to hold elections, and the opposition demanded he step down in recent months, saying he was leading it toward yet another grim period of authoritarianism.
Joseph said the heavily armed gunmen spoke Spanish or English, but he gave no details on the attack.
It was a testament to Haiti’s fragile political situation that Joseph, who was only supposed to be prime minster temporarily, finds himself in charge. Joseph was considered a protege of Moïse.
But Haiti appears to have few other options. The Supreme Court’s chief justice, who might be expected to help provide stability in a crisis, died recently of COVID-19.
The main opposition parties said they were greatly dismayed about the killing.
“In this painful circumstance, the political forces of the opposition condemn with utmost rigor this heinous crime that is at odds with democratic principles,” their statement said.
He was a deeply unpopular president.
The parties added that they hope the National Police will take all necessary measures to protect lives and property, and they called on Haitians to be “extremely vigilant.”
Joseph is likely to lead Haiti for now, though that could change in a nation where constitutional provisions have been erratically observed, said Alex Dupuy, a Haiti-born sociologist who teaches at Wesleyan University in the United States.
The best scenario would be for the acting prime minister and opposition parties to come together and hold elections, Dupuy said.
“But, in Haiti, nothing can be taken for granted. It depends how the current balance of forces in Haiti plays out,” said the academic, who described the situation as dangerous and volatile. Haiti’s police force is already grappling with a recent spike in violence in Port-au-Prince that has displaced more than 14,700 people, he said.
Former President Michel Martelly, whom Moïse succeeded, called the assassination “a hard blow for our country and for Haitian democracy, which is struggling to find its way.”
Joseph condemned the president’s killing as a “hateful, inhumane and barbaric act.”
“The country’s security situation is under the control of the National Police of Haiti and the Armed Forces of Haiti,” Joseph said in a statement from his office. “Democracy and the republic will win.”
U.S. President Joe Biden said he was “shocked and saddened to hear of the horrific assassination,” and condemned “this heinous act.”
“The United States offers condolences to the people of Haiti, and we stand ready to assist as we continue to work for a safe and secure Haiti,” Biden said in a statement.
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also condemned the assassination “in the strongest terms” and stressed that “the perpetrators of this crime must be brought to justice,” U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said. Governments in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and elsewhere also expressed their concern at Haiti’s plight.
A resident who lives near the president’s home said she heard the attack.
“I thought there was an earthquake, there was so much shooting,” said the woman who spoke on condition of anonymity because she fears for her life. “The president had problems with many people, but this is not how we expected him to die. This is something I wouldn’t wish on any Haitian.”
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti said it was restricting U.S. staff to its compounds and that the embassy would be closed Wednesday.′
President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic met his top military and police commanders to discuss plans to reinforce security along the border with Haiti following the assassination.
It’s too early to know exactly what will happen next, said Jonathan Katz, who previously covered Haiti for The Associated Press and wrote a book about the country’s devastating earthquake.
“At this hour, we don’t know who did this, what their end game is, what else they have planned,” he said, noting that Moïse had a long list of enemies. “There were a lot of people who wanted him gone. And there were a lot of people whom he wanted gone.”
Katz noted that a majority of Haitian presidents have been forced out of office, although it’s been more than a century since a sitting one was killed.
“It seems to be a pretty well-financed operation,” he said, adding that authorities could spend days trying to piece together what happened. “That’s the question: Who’s behind it and what do they want?”
He painted himself as a man of the people. The Haitian government went downhill because of bumbling leadership and COVID-19.
Moïse was killed a day after he nominated Ariel Henry, a neurosurgeon, as Haiti’s new prime minister. Joseph took over the job of interim prime minister in April following the resignation of the previous premier, Joseph Jouthe — the latest in a revolving door of prime ministers.
Haiti’s economic, political and social woes have deepened recently, with gang violence spiking heavily in Port-au-Prince, inflation spiraling and food and fuel becoming scarcer at times in a country where 60% of the population makes less than $2 a day. These troubles come as Haiti still tries to recover from the devastating 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew that struck in 2016.
Opposition leaders accused Moïse of seeking to increase his power, including by approving a decree that limited the powers of a court that audits government contracts and another that created an intelligence agency that answers only to the president.
The president faced large protests in recent months that turned violent as opposition leaders and their supporters rejected his plans to hold a constitutional referendum with proposals that would strengthen the presidency.
In recent months, opposition leaders demanded that he step down, arguing that his term legally ended in February 2021. Moïse and supporters maintained that his term began when he took office in early 2017, following a chaotic election that forced the appointment of a provisional president to serve during a year-long gap.
In May, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced an 18-month extension of temporary legal status for Haitians living in the U.S., citing “serious security concerns (in Haiti), social unrest, an increase in human rights abuses, crippling poverty, and lack of basic resources, which are exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The reprieve benefited an estimated 100,000 people who came after a devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti and are eligible for Temporary Protected Status, which gives haven to people fleeing countries struggling with civil strife or natural disasters.

A white man who called multiple neighbors racist slurs and claimed he forced other Black residents to move, has been charged with harassment and disorderly conduct, according to local police.
A warrant dated Monday and other charging documents show at least two neighbors called police to report the 45-year old white terrorist on Friday for harassing them in a Mount Laurel neighborhood.
A Black woman in the neighborhood called police on Friday saying the terrorist was harassing her, approaching her front door and shouting racial slurs, according to prosecutors. She had previously told police she suspected the terrorist of “criminal mischief” involving her car.
A doorbell camera captures the terrorist bringing his dogs to her front yard, repeating a racial slur and thrusting his hips in a vulgar way after police responded and talked to him, prosecutors said.

Police then received a second call from a nearby address and found the terrorist using racial slurs to address four people, which appears to be the interaction caught on video that drew widespread attention online.
That confrontation happened after the terrorist knocked on a neighbor’s door demanding to see her husband, who is Black, and attempted to enter her home, prosecutors said. The woman, who is white, called police and another neighbor came over to find the terrorist in the walkway.
A message was left with the public defender’s office seeking comment on behalf of the terrorist.
The terrorist was initially charged with harassment and biased intimidation but was not arrested. On Monday, protesters gathered outside of his home for many hours. He apologized in a video filmed by a protester and posted online.
Police arrested the terrorist on Monday evening and said he was in jail on Tuesday and will be held until a hearing likely on Friday.
“It is difficult to overstate how vile and despicable the conduct by this defendant towards his neighbors was on Friday night,” Burlington County Prosecutor Scott A. Coffina said in a statement Tuesday. “No one should ever have to deal with such hatred thrown in their face anywhere, but especially on their own doorstep.”
Police are investigating if protesters who threw objects toward officers and the terrorist as they arrested him committed any crimes, Coffina said.
Mount Laurel is located 19 miles (30 kilometers) east of Philadelphia.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. He could face some misdemeanor charges that could put his ass in the iron college for up to five years.

It appears that a leaked audio criticizing a fellow ESPN host has a white sports reporter sidelined from the NBA Finals.
I don't give two fucks if she's a popular commentator, she's a fucking white extremist. If she does get fired out the cannon at ESPN, she'll find home over with Fox or Bally's Sports. They don't give a fuck who they hire. Obviously, that old geezer and that annoying far-right agitator known as the softball will help rehabilitate a washed up person's career.
So she was mired in controversy after an audio leak. She was mad dissing on Maria Taylor, a Black ESPN commentator who often assist in the NBA commentary.
Tonight, she will not be on the court when the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Phoenix Suns. The finals will determine who will be the NBA Champion.
She was a sideline reporter in the Orlando bubble for the NBA's delayed 2019-20 season. She replaced Doris Burke last year after Burke spent 11 years covering the NBA Finals from the sideline.
The replacement came after she made the remarks about diversity at ESPN. She basically dismissed Taylor's qualifications and said that the network's "diversity" is truly crappy.
"I wish Maria Taylor all the success in the world -- she covers football, she covers basketball. If you need to give her more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity -- which by the way, I know personally from the female side of it -- like go for it. Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away," said the commentator.
Maria Taylor knew the challenges ahead once she got the job at ESPN.
"I just want them to go somewhere else -- it's in my contract, by the way; this job is in my contract in writing."
The backlash was quick. It forced the commentator to apologize to her fans, the NBA and Taylor.
"So, the first thing they teach you in journalism school is don't be the story. And I don't plan to break that rule today or distract from a fantastic Finals. But I also don't want to let this moment pass without saying how much I respect, how much I value our colleagues here at ESPN. How deeply, deeply sorry I am for disappointing those I hurt, particularly Maria Taylor, and how grateful I am to be part of this outstanding team."
Her half-hearted apology didn't go so well with ESPN. So for the time being, she'll continue to work on the network. She will continue to host The Jump and she has some backing from Kendrick Perkins and Richard Jefferson, two veteran NBA stars and her co-hosts.
Maria Taylor on her part didn't totally comment on the audio or the commentator.
She will continue to host NBA Countdown and be assisted with Jalen Rose and Jay Williams.
These days folks think an apology will erase the negative. Yeah, we'll move forward down the line, but accountability requires separation and mediation. It requires that individual to actually understand the plights of Black lawmakers, Black activists, Black athletes, Black entertainers and Black scholars.
It kind of infuriates me that white conservatives often use Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in their retorts to their blatant racism. If King was alive today, they would demonize him like they've done Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

A Massachusetts man hid a dark secret from his new wife. He was a white extremist who murdered two innocent Black people and the law managed to the work in.
David Green was a retired Massachusetts State Police trooper.
Authorities are investigating a Massachusetts shooting that left two Black people dead as a hate crime after investigators found "some troubling white supremacist rhetoric" in the gunman's handwriting, officials said Sunday.
Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins, who identified a 28-year-old white terrorist. Rollins said during a press conference on Sunday that investigators found the terrorist had materials that contained "antisemitic and racist statements against Black individuals."
"There was hate in this man's heart," she told reporters Monday.
The terrorist was killed by police officers on Saturday afternoon shortly after stealing a plumber's truck, crashing it into a house and shooting two Black bystanders multiple times in Winthrop, just outside Boston, according to Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty.
The slain bystanders, who were both Black, were identified as David Green, 58, a retired Massachusetts State Police officer; and Ramona Cooper, 60, an Air Force veteran who still worked with the military, according to Rollins. The terrorist shot Green four times in the head and three in the torso, and Cooper three times in the back.

"He walked by several people that were not Black and they are alive. They were not harmed," she said. “They are alive and these two visible people of color are not."
In a statement on Sunday, Rollins said the terrorist wrote about white people being "apex predators" and drew Nazi swastikas.
Ramona Cooper served her country as a military official.
She did not specify where the writing was found but added that authorities are still investigating a motive for the shooting.
"These families deserve answers, and we will find out what happened here," she said.
During a Monday news conference, Rollins said investigators were confident he acted alone, though it wasn't clear if he was in touch with hate groups.
Before crashing into the house, the terrorist allegedly drove the stolen truck into another vehicle with two passengers, Delehanty said. The two people were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
No one was inside the home at the time of the crash, he said.
The terrorist, who Rollins said was married, employed, had a Ph.D. and no criminal history, "likely appeared unassuming." Then on Saturday afternoon, she said, he committed multiple crimes and chose "only to shoot and kill the two Black people he encountered."
"This is a sad day," Rollins said Sunday. Cooper and Green "protected our rights. They fought for us to be safe, to have the opinions that we have — and they were executed."

Masked white supremacists who marched outside Philadelphia City Hall over the Fourth of July weekend ran away when pedestrians confronted them, using smoke bombs to obscure their retreat, authorities said Monday.
About 200 members of the group Patriot Front descended on the city's downtown Saturday night chanting "reclaim America" and saying the presidential election had been stolen, Philadelphia police spokeswoman Tanya Little said.
These people are your neighbors, your co workers, a person who may be a part of the medical field, a first responder or military personal. They are Americans who hate a country that is becoming Browner.
Indoctrinated by conspiracies about critical race theory, white replacement and status quo, these extremists want to reclaim their America. They literally believe in "Saving America."
Video published by NBC Philadelphia shows dozens of people in khaki pants, blue shirts and white masks carrying U.S. flags and shields.
In the video, people following the group can be heard yelling at the marchers and taunting them. At one point, one of the onlookers pushes a member of the group.
Police Officer Michael Crum told WPVI-TV that Patriot Front members felt threatened and "literally ran away from the people of Philadelphia."
As they did, Little said, they threw what appeared to smoke bombs "to cover their retreat as they fled."
The group did not respond to a request for comment. Little said there were no arrests, injuries or reports of damage.
The Anti-Defamation League, which monitors hate groups, described Patriot Front as white supremacists who "maintain that their ancestors conquered America and bequeathed it solely to them."
In its manifesto, the group calls for a white ethnostate, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which also tracks hate groups. Patriot Front was established after the deadly "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017, the center said.
This line on the floor of the Haskell Free Library separates the U.S. and Canada. The library literally sits on the border of Vermont and Quebec. The border closure had caused the tourist attraction to close.

I went ahead and updated my passport. I am fully vaccinated and I believe it's time for me to travel safely across the country. I am hopeful my passport will allow me to travel to Canada, The Bahamas, Bermuda and Great Britain.
The coronavirus pandemic cost the United States and Canada billions of dollars in revenue. The closing of 5,525 miles of border has dented tourism and business travel. From Alaska to Maine, from the Yukon to New Brunswick, the shutdown of the border had an impact.
Aroostook Valley Golf Course sits on the U.S. and Canadian border. Canadians have to travel at least 25 miles into the U.S. to enter the golf course. Entry is in Maine but majority of the course is in New Brunswick.
President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are close to working out a mutual agreement on how to open the border safely. If Americans and Canadians are fully vaccinated, the border will be open to travel.
Since March 2020, the border was closed to Americans. Only essential travel was allowed into Canada. Immediate quarantine was required if you entered either side of the border.
And like the U.S., there are white extremists in Canada reluctant to get vaccinated and refusing to wear facial protection. With that being said, the border will open and rules are loosening.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have had a full dose of a coronavirus vaccine approved for use in Canada can skip a 14-day quarantine that has been a requirement since March 2020. Eligible air travelers also no longer have to spend their first three days in the country at a government-approved hotel.
Restrictions barring all non-essential trips between Canada and the United States, including tourism, will remain in place until at least July 21.
Trudeau said the easing of the rules marks a "big step″ toward re-opening the border.
The Blaine, Washington and Surrey, British Columbia border crossing is the busiest. The Peace Arch is a very popular destination between the United States and Canada.
“We’re very hopeful that we’re going to see new steps on reopening announced in the coming weeks,” he said at a news conference in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. “We’re going to make sure that we’re not seeing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases because nobody wants to go back to further restrictions, after having done so much and sacrificed so much to get to this point.”
Julia Dunn, who landed at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport from the United States while on her way to Halifax, said she was glad the restrictions had eased.
"It’s very freeing being able to get home to family without having to spend those two weeks alone,″ she said.
Dunn, who is originally from Cape Breton but now lives in Houston, said she booked her trip to Canada after learning about the planned easing of quarantine rules a few weeks ago.
Trudeau said he understands how eager people are to see the border reopen but noted that the pandemic continues and "things aren’t normal yet.″
"Nobody wants us to move too fast and have to reimpose restrictions as case numbers rise like we’re seeing elsewhere in the world,″ he said. "We need to do this right.”
