My Post on Miss Audrey 1968-1993

Miss Audrey Spain
1968-1993

It's time to give Miss Audrey her story.  She's one of the least known victims of Charlotte serial killer Henry Louis Wallace.  She deserves to be known for who she is, not as a victim.

The day before her murder, Miss Audrey arrived back in Charlotte after taking her much needed vacation, she called her boss at Taco Bell regarding her upcoming weekly work schedule.  She worked with the man who murdered her.  She also knew Miss Shawna Hawk, for she worked alongside with her as well as Vanessa Little Mack's sister, Leslie.

She was murdered on the night of June 22, 1993.  For three days, her boss at Taco Bell called her home for being absent at work.  Around that time, her family and friends were worried and they eventually filed the missing person's alert the next day.  On the 24th, the boss at Taco Bell went to her house for a welfare check.  He only knocked on her door.  The police came to her house that night as well.  However, on the 25th, he went over to her house only to find police cars and ambulance at her apartment.  The maintenance man found her body in the afternoon of June 25th.  She's been dead for two and a half days.

Her family described her as being friendly and compassionate.  She's a beautiful and very intelligent young woman. As a matter of fact, her parents were sad that she left her small town to live in Charlotte.  Initially, she aspired to work in computer science, but that didn't panned out, so she landed a job as a manager at Taco Bell in East Charlotte.

Here are two news articles I found as I was researching for her story online.  They're from the mid-1990s during the capital murder trial of Henry Louis Wallace.  Her family was relieved that he was arrested, tried, and sentenced for the murder of their "baby" and youngest daughter.

FAMILY SEEKS CLOSURE- September 1996 article

Author: Jeannine F. Hunter

Audrey Spain left Bayboro in 1991 seeking a future in Charlotte. But in July 1993, a killer brought that dream to an end.

Spain was 24 years old.

She was one of the women Henry Wallace is accused of killing. He goes on trial this week and her family hopes the trial will bring closure to their personal tragedy.

``The trial will add to the closure process. The sooner it's over the better,'' said Sinnia Mickle, Spain's oldest sister who lives in Charlotte. ``We can finally put everything to rest. But the hardest part is reliving it all over again. With the trial coming up, I'm sure that will happen again.''

Spain left home after graduating from Horry-Georgetown Technical College. She was hired as an assistant manager of a Taco Bell restaurant near Eastland Mall. Within months, she had bought a new car and had found her own apartment.

Along the way, Mickle said her sister met many people, including Wallace who also worked at Taco Bell.

``She did what Audrey wanted to do. She lived her own life,'' Mickle said. ``She was outgoing and kind of her own person and was happy about her life in Charlotte.''

She was the youngest daughter of Broughton and Mae Helen Spain. And friends in the Bayboro community, on S.C. 410 near Loris, said she was a sister to many families.

``She was so mature, strong and self-assured,'' said Elwood Goff, 46, a cousin. ``No one would think that she would allow someone in her apartment unless she knew them well and trusted them.

``Out of all the daughters, she was probably the one who could really take care of herself. She was small but big in the heart,'' said Goff, a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where Spain was a choir member and an usher.

The Sunday before she was killed, Spain had been at his house for a cook-out.

``It changed things in Bayboro because this was the first major incident that hit this community,'' Goff said. ``It made a lot of us really look at life because she was so young and just beginning to get out and make something of herself. Everybody was real proud of her . . . It scared some parents, especially of daughters who lived away.''

At the church, a college scholarship was established to honor Spain and other youth who had died in the community.

``It's for kids going to college as a way to encourage them and remember the other kids who are no longer with us,'' Goff said. ``Whatever we can get into that fund, we split it among the kids.''

SENTENCE BRINGS FAMILY A MEASURE OF PEACE- February 1997 article

When Mae Helen Spain learned Henry Wallace Jr. was sentenced to die for raping and killing her daughter, she cried and walked to her daughter's grave.

``Audrey, now everything is over with. You can rest,'' Spain said beside her daughter's grave.

Audrey Spain, a native of the Bayboro community near Loris, was one of nine women Wallace raped and killed between 1992 and 1994. Wallace received a death sentence in each case.

Wallace, 31, was convicted three weeks ago of 27 felonies -- including nine counts of first-degree murder and eight counts of first-degree rape -- and two misdemeanors.

Spain was the second-youngest child of Mae Helen and Broughton Spain. Mae Helen Spain is a nurse with InCare on U.S. 17 Bypass. Broughton ``Brock'' Spain works at Bell and Bell Pontiac Oldsmobile GMC Truck Inc. in Little River.

``(Wednesday) morning, before the lawyer called, I was driving and a bird hit my windshield, and this happened the day Audrey was murdered,'' Mae Helen Spain. ``I think the Lord was telling me that things were going to go our way.

``I'm glad everything is finally over with.''

Spain was killed in July 1993, within a few weeks of her 24th birthday. She had moved to Charlotte, N.C., after attending Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

The Spains' poinsettia-filled living room contains religious books, handmade crafts and pictures of their five children, especially Audrey Spain. One shows her modeling a black leather outfit accented with gold rhinestones. It was taken the weekend before her death.

``The holidays have not been the same. I miss mostly her being around,'' said Spain's brother, Terrence Spain, a senior at Green Sea Floyds High School.

``During the holidays she'd come here after she worked almost all night at Taco Bell,'' Mae Helen Spain said. ``She would slip home at night so in the morning we'd wake up and she'd be here. She had a way of brightening up the home with her smile. It was always a nice present for us to see her.''

A look through Audrey Spain's quilted scrapbook showed a young woman who practiced karate, had perfect attendance at Green Sea Floyd Middle School, graduated from the Finklea Career Center and attended Denmark Technical and Horry-Georgetown Technical colleges.

The murder investigation and trial were difficult for the family. Broughton Spain said the trial caused his blood pressure to soar periodically. As a result he's had to take more than a month off from his job in Little River.

``During the trial, (Wallace) was smiling like nothing was happening,'' he said. ``He was smiling and writing like he didn't care that he killed my baby.''

At times, Mae Helen Spain would have to leave the courtroom.

``I was sitting and cold chills would just run through me. It was rough.''

The Spains and several people in the community believe the death penalty is the appropriate punishment for Wallace.

``I wouldn't want to have him on the street again hurting anyone else,'' Broughton Spain said.

Among the worries the parents had was whether Audrey suffered and whether her soul was at peace.

``I'm concerned about her soul and have always been concerned about it,'' Mae Helen Spain said. ``But now, I feel like she's gone to a better place.''

Shortly after Spain's death, the family developed negative feelings toward law enforcement officials in Charlotte who were slow to connect the pattern of the killings: young, black women.

``At one time, I hated Charlotte with a passion . . . because I felt like the policemen could have done more than what they were doing,'' Mae Helen Spain said. ``We kept praying that whoever was doing this to these women would be caught so he wouldn't hurt nobody else.''

In a handwritten-letter thanking the community for their support, the Spains wrote:

``One never knows how much he or she counts until tragedy strikes. . . . Not only have we received encouraging words and prayers, but financial support has also poured in. Without the support of friends like many of you, our desire to keep abreast of legal proceedings would not have been possible.

``Finally we can come to some kind of closure in our minds about this tragic event. Thank you so much for thinking of us.''

May Miss Audrey rests in peace and in power.

FBI Looking For The Dollar!

Pimping ain't easy. The feds are searching for Ohio man who has ties to missing women in Chillicothe.

The Feds are looking for an Ohio man who may have led Chillicothe women to their deaths.

Ernest "Dollar Bill" Moore is a notorious pimp says the Ross County sheriff. He is a person of interest in the disappearance of three women.

Moore, 36, has been declared a "parole violator at large" by Ross County Sheriff George W. Lavender. He's also been named a "person of interest in the drug trade and at risk women involved in human trafficking," the Missing Women's Task Force said in a Thursday evening press release.

The task force, made up of officials from the sheriff's office, Chillicothe Police Department, FBI and Ohio's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, was formed earlier this summer to search for answers in a string of unsolved deaths and disappearances.
Tameka Lynch and Shasta Himelick
Chillicothe is 74 miles from my hometown of Dayton, Ohio. The city is smack in the middle of Ohio.

It's part of the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area.

The city of Chilliocthe is on the edge. Six women turned up either missing or dead. Some of these women were associated with the stroll. They were either addicts of the "boy" or "toke".

There is a hotel that many considered the red lights lights district. Many of these women were near that hotel when they've disappeared.

Three of the six have been found dead in or near different creeks and streams. One was found shot to death, and the remaining two are still missing.

During a June 23 press conference, Lavender said authorities have not yet ruled out the possibility that a serial killer could be responsible for some of the deaths and disappearances.
Charlotte Trego and Wanda Lemons
"When you start ruling things out, you overlook stuff, and we don't want to overlook anything," the sheriff said.

The Huffington Post reports that the two missing women have been identified as Charlotte Trego, 27, who was last seen alive on May 3, 2014, and Wanda Lemons, 37, who disappeared from Chillicothe on Nov. 3, 2014.

Shasta Himelrick, a 20-year-old expectant mother, was last seen by her family on Christmas Day 2014. Roughly a week later, searchers found her body in the Scioto River.

Timberly Claytor, 38, was found dead of gunshot wounds on May 29 in Massieville, a small town about five miles south of Chillicothe. A grand jury has indicted Jason McCrary, 36, on one count of murder in connection with Claytor's slaying. He has not been named a suspect in any of the other cases.

Tameka Lynch, 30, disappeared in Chillicothe on May 3, 2014, the same day Trego was last seen alive. Lynch was found dead three weeks later, in a creek roughly 20 miles downstream from where it passes through Chillicothe.

The latest victim to be found is 26-year-old Tiffany Sayre, who was last seen in Chillicothe in May. The following month, two people discovered Sayre's body near a culvert along Paint Creek, not far from where Lynch's body was found.

All six women are believed to have known each other, police said.
Timberly Claytor and Tiffany Sayre.
The Missing Women's Task Force did not specifically indicate why they want to talk to Moore. However, one of the women's friends told The Huffington Post that Moore is known to run in the same circles that the women did.

According to local media outlet ABC6 News, court records show Moore was released in February from jail, where he had been held on a drug trafficking offense. It remains unclear when he was initially incarcerated for that charge. Court records further indicate Moore has been in and out of jail several times in the past 10 years for drug-related charges, the news station reported.

Moore is described as an African-American male, with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 205 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding Moore's whereabouts is asked to contact the Missing Women's Task Force at 740-774-3463. Anonymous tips can be made through Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers by calling 800-222-TIPS.

Street slang for boy is heroin.
Street slang for toke is crack/cocaine.
Street slang for stroll is prostitution.
Street slang for p'game is pimping.

World News Today send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy.

Where's Carlisha Freeland-Gaither?

Where's Carlisha?
The junk food media has taken an interest in the abduction of a Philadelphia nurse who was kidnapped. The kidnapping was on video showing a man running up on the young woman Carlisha Freeland-Gaither. Within a few seconds, you see her kicking and screaming. There's reports that she was trying to punch the abductor. The woman was leaving a party and then a few moments later, a Black male runs up on her and takes her.

Now leads are pouring into the case. The law has a description of the person who used her credit card in a Maryland store.

Now what's going down?

The feds are now getting involved in the search.

On Sunday, Carlisha a 22-year old nurse was heading home. When she gotten to the Germantown section of Philadelphia, the kidnapping occurred.

Police recovered the woman's purse and cell phone. So this isn't an apparent robbery.

I mean this young woman put up a fight. The family is grief stricken by this. They are hoping that there's a chance that the young woman is still alive.
The description of the suspect who used Carlisha Freeland-Gaither's credit card.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that it's unclear whether the man seen using the ATM early Monday is the same man who was captured on video Sunday dragging Carlesha Freeland-Gaither into a waiting sedan in the 100 block of West Coulter Street as she struggled and screamed.

Added, investigators have also interviewed a person whose car is seen on the video backing away from the Taurus, as well as a man seen running down the block. The witness in the car told investigators he saw Freeland-Gaither being forced into the car, police said, and saw the car's windows shatter before he backed away. The witness did not get a license plate number, police said.

At the news conference, Freeland-Gaither's grandmother, Ana Mulero, said there were "some gray people" in the woman's past, mentioning a boy she had forbidden her granddaughter to date. A police official ended the line of questioning before she went into more detail.

Freeland-Gaither had recently moved from her grandfather's house to live with her boyfriend just a few blocks from where she was kidnapped.

ABC News reports that the feds released the new video showing a man in a hooded jacket as he shops in a supermarket hours before that Carlesha Freeland-Gaither was kidnapped on Sunday, according to the video time stamp.

The video shows the man entering and leaving the unidentified store as well as walking through its aisles. He appears to have a slight limp. Investigators also noted that the man in the video had a wallet chain and wore a dark hoodie.

Police have not named any suspects in the case.

Freeland-Gaither's abduction on an empty Philadelphia street Sunday night was caught on surveillance video and began with a wary handshake, according to additional video released Tuesday night.

Additional surveillance footage taken from a second angle of the kidnapping revealed the first frightening moments between Freeland-Gaither and her assailant.

It's not clear if they interviewed the boyfriend but obviously that's the first person to question.

We here at Journal de la Reyna hope for a safe recovery for Carlisha.

Ann Coulter Mocks #BringBackOurGirls!

Some here in the United States are reacting to this in a not so nice way.

What a cruel and heartless woman. This conservative agitator thought it was funny calling the president a "retard" back in 2012.

Now after the international condemnation of Boko Haram's kidnapping of 300 schoolgirls sparked a hashtag revolution, the crude conservative agitator decides to mock it.

This sparked a bit controversy.

E! News reports that the conservative agitator's attempt at humor was poorly received, as dozens of memes proves. After all, First Lady Michelle Obama and Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway are among the thousands who have been championing the #BringBackOurGirls cause, which was created earlier this month to draw support for the missing schoolgirls in Nigeria. Since Coulter published her picture, it's been retweeted more than 2,000 times.

Most have mocked her for being insensitive and a buffoon for even going there.

"BRING BACK OUR COUNTRY!" - What's that suppose to mean?

Mark Steyn also took to the social networks to mock it too.

The Pictures Of Fear!

The Nigerian extremist group claims they've held hostage 300 girls and women. They threaten to kill or sell them into sex slavery.

The junk food media has made Boko Haram a household name. The Nigerian extremist group with known ties to terrorism has been linked to the kidnapping of schoolgirls in a small rural village outside of Chibok.

The government aided by international forces must search about 1500 miles of land to find these hostages.

From Abuja to Washington, DC, the American people have shown compassion towards this.

The international community condemns this situation.

The students are being forced into Islam and into marriage with members of Boko Haram, with a reputed "bride price" of ₦2,000 each ($12.50/£7.50).

Many of the students were taken to the neighboring countries of Chad and Cameroon, with sightings reported of the students crossing borders with the militants, and sightings of the students by villagers living in the Sambisa Forest.

The forest is considered a refuge for Boko Haram. Local residents have been able to track the movements of the students with the help of contacts across north eastern Nigeria.

On May 2, the police said they were still unclear as to the exact number of students who were kidnapped. They asked parents to provide documents so an official count could be made since school records were damaged in the attack.

On May 4, the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, spoke publicly about the kidnapping for the first time, saying the government was doing everything it could to find the missing girls.

At the same time, he blamed parents for not supplying enough information about their missing children to the police.

On May 5, a video in which Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility for the kidnappings emerged. Shekau claimed that "Allah instructed me to sell them...I will carry out his instructions." and "Slavery is allowed in my religion, and I shall capture people and make them slaves."

He said the girls should not have been in the school and instead they should be married since girls as young as nine are suitable for marriage.

Following the kidnapping incident, Boko Haram again abducted eight girls aged between 12–15 from northeast Nigeria.

At least 300 residents of the nearby town of Gamboru Ngala were killed in an attack by Boko Haram militants after Nigerian security forces had left the town to search for the kidnapped students.

On May 10, former Boko Haram negotiator, Shehu Sani stated that the group wanted to swap the abducted girls for its jailed members.

On May 11, Kashim Shettima, Governor of Borno State in Nigeria, said that he has sighted the abducted girls and that the girls were not taken across the borders of Cameroon or Chad.

On May 12, Boko Haram released a video showing about 130 kidnapped Girls clad in Burqah while it demanded prisoner exchange.

Developments continue as this story is covered here and through sources such as the Associated Press, Wikipedia and CNN.

France May End Sex Tourism!

Prostitution is legal in France. It's illegal for the selling in the brothels, sex trade and the pimping game.

Prostitution is illegal in the United States with exception of regulated areas in the state of Nevada. It's ranges from a Class A misdemeanor to Felony 5. It would be Felony 3 if the prostitute is tested positive for HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis B.

Prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. Many women (and transgender women) sell their bodies for drugs or a debt.

Crack/cocaine, bath salts, methamphetamine and heroin are the biggest problems in the United States. Those who are arrested for solicitation for prostitution are likely drug users. The clients who are busted are often married men.

With sex tourism on high demand in Europe, the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and the possibility of human trafficking are often thought of when legislators are working on passing laws.

France is pretty much lax on the rules of prostitution.

Sorry men, it's going to be a boring vacation if France decides to pass a law that targets prostitution.

The French parliament is considering imposing heavy fines on people caught paying for sex.

Opponents say the measures will only serve to force France's sex trade further underground.

There's a rise of North African and Asian women in most of France's largest cities.

Most men travel to Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia for sex tourism. The women and children in those countries are often vulnerable to sex trafficking.

The U.S. Justice Department and Interpol are working to stop pimps and their clients from engaging in child prostitution.

This is spoken in French. It doesn't have subtitles. This video may contains disturbing images. Viewer discretion is advised.

Find Us!

Missing adults and children.

The Huffington Post gets a GIF of all the missing adults and children that the junk food media refuses to cover.

It's kind of unique that many Americans aren't hearing stories about these people.

Everyone I've known has heard of Natalee Holloway, JonBenet Ramsey, Elizabeth Smart and other tabloid based stories about the alleged perpetrator.

You've heard stories about Philip Dane Kasparites, Joseph Dominic Lugo, Edward Moore, Tenisha Moss, Juliet Riffey, Kimberly Sanborn, Robert Lee Taylor, Nicole Waller, Brittany Walls, and George "Skip" Zelaya.

We here at Journal de la Reyna wish safe return for all who are missing.

Charles Ramesy: I'M BROKE BRO!

Charles Ramsey. The Cleveland, Ohio man who saved three women from a rapist sets the record straight about his situation.

Cleveland hero who rescued three women from 10 years of hell in Ariel Castro's home is telling the junk food media that he's lost his job because of the overnight celebrity status.

He's broke and he's trying to keep his spirits up.

HEY NOT SO FAST! HE CLAIMS HE'S FINE! CHARLES RAMSEY TELLING THE WORLD, HE'S GOOD! HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY THE MEDIA IS TARNISHING HIM!

Charles Ramsey, the country's most animated and yes unlikely hero spoke to the press about his good deeds in the long run. They didn't expect in the two months since his name landed in the junk food media, he was experiencing economic woes.

I mean every business in the Cleveland area is willing to give him all the heart clogging food and beverages the moment he comes in. He doesn't want food, he wants something good to happen to him and those victims.
Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.
Why not help him build a home far away from that nightmare that he, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight suffered that late May evening?

Well apparently The Daily Mail interviewed him during the bail hearing of Castro. They wanted to know how his life had changed since the events unfolded.

In court: The three women could face their alleged tormenter, Ariel Castro, in court later this year if Castro chooses to take the case to trial
Ariel Castro the man charged in rape of women.
I guess how when they've interviewed Ramsey, the often times vocal celebrity told it like it is and the reporter wrote it down. Well to make the world feel sorry for him, I guess they've jazzed up the story and made it seem like he's struggling to get by.

I am guessing The Daily Mail is sticking to the story.

But to Charles Ramsey, "IT'S BULLSHIT!"

Ramsey is saying that he had to find another place to go because the internet sensation follows him right to his door. And he's was getting fed up with it. He did admit he doesn't have the luxuries of being an international celebrity but he's happy and he wants to live his life in peace.

Ramsey did have thoughts of trademarking his name and animated vocals.

Ariel Castro is facing 977 charges including kidnapping, rape, felonious assault and premature death. He could face the death penalty if he's convicted. He abuse Michelle Knight and forced a miscarriage on her child. Castro has fathered a child with Amanda Berry.

Wish Charles Ramsey, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight well and hope the best as they cope with their ordeal. Hopeful they'll succeed in getting their lives back together.

The Black And Missing Foundation Featured On Nightline!

abc osunami mi 130711 16x9 608 Fighting the Good Fight: The Never Ending Search for the Missing
Don't forget about us!

The talk about the three women who were held captive in Cleveland by Ariel Castro still leaves unanswered questions.

Why did it take so long for the junk food media to cover this?

Even though Gina DeJesus were mentioned by the local Cleveland media, her disappearance was overshadowed by the ongoing coverage of Natalee Holloway.

Michelle Knight and Amanda Berry were mentioned heavily by the local news. Even though Knight was a runaway, she didn't get the amount of coverage Berry gotten. It took over 10 years to find the young women being held in the house of a former bus driver and accused rapist.
Niqui McCowan still missing and the junk food media rarely covers her disappearance.
In my community, we barely get coverage of Niqui McCowan, a Richmond, Indiana woman who went missing after she went to a local laundromat. She was to get married and had family ties in my community.

There are limited leads to the case and people are not giving up hope for her safe return.

A few years back my local junk food media news programs were focused on a Xenia, Ohio woman named Tiffany Tehan, a new mom who was lasted seen in a Dayton, Ohio convenience store with a man. The man was named Tre Hutcherson, a divorce man who fell in love with her and told Tiffany to leave her husband. They've fled to Florida before they were caught by the U.S. Marshals. The woman had to pay a hefty sum for the coverage by local authorities. But to this day they've maintained their love for one another. Tehan divorced her husband and remarried Hutcherson.

Hutcheson and Tehan ended up have a child together. Tehan shares custody of her first child with the ex-husband.
Tiffany Tehan, a runaway married woman took off with her lover. The junk food media covered her disappearance and her marriage to her boyfriend Tre Hutcherson.
That managed to get national attention. And it turned out a happy ending in a negative way though. But still while I can remember the times they've covered Tifanny Tehan, there's times they've never said a word about Niqui McCowan.

Again, we here at Journal de la Reyna send our prayers to families of all missing people. We hope they've find their loved ones. We send our thoughts to the Cleveland women and Tiffany Tehan. We wish them well on their journey.

There a term that's often mentioned by Black journalists, myself and others. It's called Missing White Woman Syndrome. It's a phrase that was started after the junk food media stayed focused on Holloway while a pregnant woman by the name of LaToyia Figueroa got little to no coverage. Her disappearance was overshadowed. The media covered Natalee Holloway about the time Figueroa went missing.

Although I've not been on Wikipedia lately, I can claim credit in creating this page and Missing White Woman Syndrome. In 2005, I was really upset over Loserville ambulance chasers Greta and the Mustached Guy ongoing obsession with this story. They've made this a story more of a movie than an actual missing person case.

I was annoyed with Nancy Grace (Nancy Shrew) and Rita Cosby (Raspy Cosby) always rushing to judgment in this Aruba situation.
File:Missing Girl.JPG
LaToyia Figueroa went misisng in 2005. She ended up being killed by her former boyfriend.

The article about LaToyia Figueroa took a life of it's own.

She went missing and was found dead. Her former boyfriend Stephen Poaches was arrested and put in the iron college. Police discovered Figueroa's remains in a grassy, partially wooded lot in Chester, Pennsylvania, located 13 miles south of Philadelphia. They arrested Stephen Poaches, the father of her unborn child, on August 20, more than a month after she was reported missing.

On October 17, 2006, Poaches was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Figueroa and her unborn child.

The disappearance of Figueroa sparked controversy about media coverage because cable news channels, such as CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News Channel, neglected to cover her story in favor of Natalee Holloway, a Caucasian teen missing on the island of Aruba.

Some observers protested that Figueroa's case was similar to the Laci Peterson case (which also covered the same timespan) and thus deserved greater attention, implying that race was a factor in the lack of coverage.

Missing White Woman Syndrome is a phrase coined by social scientists and media commentators to describe the "wall-to-wall coverage" given in media reporting, especially television, to missing person cases involving young, white, upper-middle class women or girls.
Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight in 2013.

The degree of coverage is usually compared with cases concerning a missing male, or missing females of other ethnicity, socioeconomic classes or perceived physical attractiveness.

The actual phrase comes from Sheri Parks, an associate professor at the University of Maryland, who used the term in a 2006 interview with CNN to describe this observed media trend.

On the ABC's Nightline, there's a story about Black & Missing, an organization devoted to finding missing people of color. They work everyday trying to find missing people. They work harder than the junk food media.

It has to be more like an unarmed teenager being shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer to make the junk food media coverage.

Still with the celebration of the three missing Cleveland women and the agony of defeat in the George Zimmerman trial, we must keep an open mind to what happens in America.

The junk food media will always rile us into political action. This Trayvon Martin and Cleveland Three will spark a decision about race.

Hopeful that things will turn out for the better for all the missing people in the world. It's a shame that the media overlooks those people because of a ratings grabbing event.

Charles Ramsey Faces Backlash From Junk Food Media!

http://abcnews.go.com/images/US/abc_charles_ramsey_jef_130508_wblog.jpg
Cleveland man who saved kidnapped women is hailed a hero among the majority. The minority hates this because he's a Black man. So they find ways to paint a negative picture of Charles Ramsey.

Even an unlikely hero still gets called a NIGGER by those in the conservative/white supremacists bubble.

Part II will deal with the Castro brothers. They're in fear of retaliation because of the junk food media's coverage of them.

The junk food media is looking into the history of viral sensation Charles Ramsey. The unlikely hero and others were responsible in rescuing Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight.

Ramsey is a colorful figure. The internet is blown up with "autotune" of the often brash and straight to the point Cleveland resident.

What I don't see is how the conservative/white supremacist bubble treats this individual like's he's criminal.

According to those in the junk food media, he was once a criminal.

Who gives a...........(Well you know)!

My problem with this is simple. The junk food media just can't give a man a break. Even though he may had done wrongs in the past, Charles Ramsey admitted that he's paying for his past sins. He's even cautious about the media attention given to him.

I see he's a honest man a heart! Even though there's a reward in this, he wanted to give it to the victims.

Charles Ramsey Criminal Record
They used the picture to portray heroic Cleveland resident as a criminal.
WEWS-TV (Newsnet 5, NBC Cleveland) apologized for putting his business out there for the conservative/white supremacist bubble.

Cleveland's WEWS-TV issued an apology on Thursday after the local news station reported on Charles Ramsey's criminal record.

Ramsey was one of two neighbors who helped Amanda Berry, who had been kidnapped for 10 years, and two other women escape from captivity earlier this week. While he was hailed a hero for his role, his presence on TV was mocked and even autotuned. Al Sharpton defended Ramsey. "He kicks in a door to rescue those women and some are criticizing his diction?" Sharpton said of Ramsey.

Soon after his TV debut, reports surfaced about Ramsey's record, one that reportedly included convictions for domestic violence. Multiple outlets, including WEWS, reported on Ramsey's criminal past.

After facing backlash from viewers, WEWS apologized in a post on the station's Facebook page.

TO OUR READERS & FOLLOWERS: We heard you. Wednesday night, we made a poor judgment call in posting a story about Charles Ramsey’s criminal record and how he’s since reformed. While the story was factually sound, the timing of it and publication of such information was not in good taste, and we regret it. Your comments prompted us to quickly remove the story from our website and Facebook page, but we know we can’t erase what we’ve already done. Ramsey is a hero for his actions, and we recognize that. Thank you so much for your feedback.

BREAKING: Missing Cleveland Women Held Captive Freed!

Found alive with two other women. Gina DeJesus and two other woman were held captive by individual.

THIS IS A BREAKING EVENT! WE HERE AT JOURNAL DE LE REYNA SEND OUR PRAYERS TO THE THREE YOUNG WOMEN WHO WERE KIDNAPPED BY THIS INDIVIDUAL. WE SEEK JUSTICE FOR THE INDIVIDUAL INVOLVED IN THIS KIDNAPPING. WE WILL STAY ON THIS EVENT AS MORE DETAILS EMERGE!

Three women who were once teenagers apparently turned up alive in Cleveland, Ohio. The alleged kidnapper was arrested.

The FBI and Cleveland Police were looking for these young women for years.

This news comes to over ten years of hope being lost and the possibility these women would be found dead.

This amazing news will travel and of course, we'll be covering this here at Journal de la Reyna.

CNN reports that Amanda Berry one of the victims busted out of the kidnapper's home and called the police.

The break the FBI and Cleveland Police needed came today.

Three women who went missing years ago in separate cases have been found together Monday in Cleveland, Ohio, police said.

One of the women called 911 after breaking out of the house where she had been living.
Amanda Berry.
"Help me, I am Amanda Berry," she said, her voice distraught and quick, according to an audio recording of the call released Monday night. "I've been kidnapped and I've been missing for 10 years. And I'm here and I'm free now."

Another 911 call came in less than a minute later from a man who saw Berry busting out of the house.

"She's like, 'This (expletive) kidnapped me and my daughter,'" Charles Ramsey told 911.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested, Cleveland police said on their website. Brian Cummins, a councilman who represents the area where the women were found, said the suspect's name is Ariel Castro.
Cleveland Police found missing women.
The three women are in fair condition, Gerald Maloney, an emergency department physician at Metro Health Medical Center, said Monday night.

"I am thankful that Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michele Knight have been found alive," Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said. "We have many unanswered questions regarding this case and the investigation will be ongoing. Again, I am thankful that these three young ladies are found and alive."

Angie Garcia, whose aunt lives across the street from where the women were found, said Berry ran over to the house Monday and begged to use the phone. Berry, who was carrying a child, told the aunt who she was and then asked to use the phone to call 911.

The women and another young child came out of the house across the street, Garcia said.

"We never saw the girls there and we were always outside," she said. "We only saw the guy."

Berry and DeJesus were in their teens when they disappeared in 2003 and 2004, CNN affiliate WEWS reported. Knight went missing in 2002, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
