Andrew Gillum: We Can Do This!

Florida picks Andrew Gillum to face off against Ron DeSantis.
In a surprise victory, Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum won the Democratic Primary for Florida governor. It will be a closely watched race. The Democrats were hoping that Gwen Graham, a political moderate would win. They saw the progressive base active.

Gillum could become Florida's first African American governor. He will be facing an onslaught of politically and racially based attacks from Donald J. Trump, Republicans, Fox News and his opponent, Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).

Gillum and DeSantis are both young, native Floridians and it will be a test. Will voters come out?

Gillum, like many are motivated by the inactions of the state house, Trump and Congress.

DeSantis is motivated by his disdain for the junk food media, the Russia probe of Trump and two politicizing agitators.

Democrats see the opportunity in Florida after the latest round of mass shootings, vigilante killings of people of color and Mar-A-Largo trips from Trump.

Healthcare is definitely on the line.

Republicans hope to paint Gillum as an Obama-clone with far-left ties to Black Lives Matter and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

DeSantis will get favorable coverage. He already is being promoted on Fox News and its chief propagandists and annoyance, Sean "Softball" Hannity. The annoying agitator and his allies, Tucker Carlson and Mark Levin are already laying the groundwork to smear Gillum.

Trump already set off the first rounds.

The actual plans presented by Gillum are simple. He said that he is running for governor because he wants to rebuild the state's economy, revitalize public education, protecting and expanding healthcare access, and accessing our climate change crisis with a clean energy economy.

His opponent DeSantis is far from that.

His plans are basically keep the status quo. He wants to keep Florida a low tax state. It means, keep revenue low and property high. The cost of living in Florida is extremely high and homelessness is heavy in Florida.

He wants to make merit based education. That means more corrupt charter schools, privatizing public education, force students to learn the Constitution as a requirement to graduate and stop Common Core.

DeSantis wants to enact E-verify and eliminate asylum and sanctuary cities.

He wants to protect the water, but not stop big oil and gas from drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean. He wants to restore the Everglades but not protect the endangered species in Central Florida. He won't acknowledge climate change.

He wants to put more cronies in the Florida Supreme Court.

He wants to keep gun laws loose and wants to get in between a women's legs and restrict their access to prenatal care.

DeSantis as a lawmaker has no real accomplishments. All he will say is he served in the military, he stands with Donald Trump, he will be the real conservative, and the slapstick name calling of Gillum.

He will say he will defend the Second Amendment and blame Democrats for Florida's crappy economy.

He will receive coverage from the junk food media because he is well established.

Both candidates are under 40 years old. Both of them are 39 years old.

Gwen Graham, a former U.S. Representative was the chosen favorite among Democrats. They were shocked that she would lose to Gillum. She is the daughter of Bob Graham, a former governor and U.S. senator. Even well established candidates like Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) got it wrong.

Jeff Greene is a Florida multi-millionarie and perennial loser who has name recognition within the state. He was eliminated early.

Gillum managed to come from third place to finish out the nominee.

It kind of reminds me of when Rick Scott defeated Charlie Crist in 2010. Crist was then the Republican governor of Florida. He would lose to Scott, a healthcare executive and multi-millionaire who used military and the endorsements of the Tea Party to win the nomination and eventually the governorship.

Scott now an established politician is hoping to carry his worthless agenda to Washington as a Senator. He will be taking on Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL), a former astronaut and political moderate who served the Senate since 2001. He has been a Washington lawmaker since the late 1970s.
Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is a status quo candidate.
David Hogg, the survivor of the 2018 mass shooting in Parkland, Florida was right. The Democrats do elect candidates that are considered "too old" and "uninspiring."

Hogg said that if the older Democrats continue to stand in power, they will become scapegoats to conservative agitators and Trump.

DeSantis' opponent is fellow lawmaker Rep. Adam Putman (R-FL). Putman was 44-year old. He is another young candidate.

Republicans are lining up young candidates who practically are mini-versions of Trump. White extremists and morons are literally willing to get an endorsement from Trump.

It's been proven successful.

The turnout was high for both sides.

Gillum beaten two well established candidates.

The midterms are extremely important. We need to get out to vote. Help the progressives win. I said progressives not the Democrats. The Democratic Party will continue to show cowardice to the base.

Conservatives are already energized by the falsehoods of Sean "Softball" Hannity, Fox News and Trump.

It's time to show the country, that progressives mean business.

If you want more mass shootings in Florida, vote for Ron DeSantis. If you want the safety net cut and the cost of living to increase in Florida, vote for DeSantis.

Want the status quo, vote for DeSantis.

Floridians, vote for Andrew Gillum.

Family - Gillum is married to R. Jai Gillum and has three children.

Family - DeSantis is married Casey Black DeStanis, a former news reporter. They have two children.
