Mighty D.R.E. Is Still Beating The Boards And Packing In The Millions. Rapper/producer Dr. Dre is Forbes Magazine's richest rappers. His estimated earnings top over $110 million in 2011. Beats By Dre are the successful headphones from the rapper. He attended the 2012 Coachella Festival with Snoop Dogg. Big Snoop is releasing a reggae album under the moniker Snoop Lion. |
Andre Romelle Young (born February 18, 1965), is an American rapper, record producer, record executive, entrepreneur, bodybuilder and occasional actor. He is the founder and current CEO of Aftermath Entertainment and a former co-owner and artist of Death Row Records.
The Mighty Mighty D.R.E. is the world's richest rapper. He beats out media mogul/rapper Jay-Z, Kanye West, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Lil' Wayne and Eminem.
The good doctor hasn't released an album since his masterpiece [Chronic] 2001 in 1999.
Dr. Dre was working on the long awaited Detox album. The album is slated for release in 2013. The album was scrapped this year after numerous tracks failed to bring mainstream buzz. The first single "Kush" with Akon and Snoop Dogg was released last year. The second single was a leftover from Eminem but it was released. "I Need A Doctor" was released a few weeks later. He decided to focus on Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent's album releases.
The Beats By Dre headphones are a factor to the riches. Besides the royalties and the rap label Aftermath Entertainment, Dr. Dre is a self-made man.
Dre began his career in music as a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru and he later found fame with the influential gangsta rap group N.W.A with Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren, and DJ Yella which popularized the use of explicit lyrics in rap to detail the violence of street life which lead to the controversial albums Straight Outta Compton and Niggaz4Life.
Dr. Dre is credited to the success of Eminem (right) and 50 Cent (center). |
He produced Snoop Dogg's debut album Doggystyle, produced the hit single "California Love" off Tupac Shakur's All Eyez On Me and made notable contributions to Tha Dogg Pound.
Dr. Dre has made enemies in his time reaching the top.
The feud with Suge Knight is an ongoing saga. Dr. Dre has sued the media mogul for royalties of the albums he produced and played a role in having his old label shut down. Dre left Death Row in 1994 after the label got involved with the Bloods street gang. Even Tupac Shakur released singles targeting Dre for selling out.
Dr. Dre got involved in the conflicts with Atlanta producer/rapper Jermaine Dupri. Dupri declared his production skills was bigger than Dr. Dre and Timbaland. Dre, Eminem and West Coast rapper Xzibit sent Dupri numerous responses about his "obsession with little boys!" They ended the feud in 2001.
When Dr. Dre signed 50 Cent to the label, he and Eminem were engaged in a feud with Murder, Inc. Records and their main act Ja Rule. Ja Rule claims that 50 Cent's rise to fame was a sham. Ja Rule warned Eminem and Dr. Dre not to side with 50 Cent in this feud. This lead to a major feud which elevated to near violence. Ja Rule allied with The Source Magazine co-owner rapper Raymond Scott (known as Benzino) in a public boycott campaign of 50 Cent and Eminem. Dr. Dre's longtime mentor Jimmy Iovine decided to pull advertising from the magazine and move revenue to The Source's rival magazine XXL.
Dr. Dre has engaged in a minor conflict with 50 Cent. When 50 Cent decided to ditch Beats By Dre to jump onto Sleek Audio for his own headphones, he made Dr. Dre angry. The rapper threaten to leave after the conflict and Dr. Dre's lack of attention on his follow up albums. The conflict was resolved and Dr. Dre will produce a fraction of 50 Cent's album which is slated for Winter 2013.
Dre has produced albums for Jay-Z, Game, Nas, Ice Cube, Eve, Gwen Stefani, T.I., Rick Ross, half-brother Warren G, Nate Dogg, Lil' Wayne, Mary J. Blige, The D.O.C., Busta Rhymes, Raekwon, Slimm Tha Mobster, Xzibit, and Obie Trice.

* UPDATE: The Drudge Report is making light of Snoop Dogg's endorsement of Barack Obama. Again the race baiting gay conservative agitator is trying to find reasons to dog whistle white voters. Mitt Romney and his campaign are desperate. They're in the process of throwing everything including the kitchen sink at President Barack Obama. I will cover the Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion) endorsement of Barack Obama in the next day!
