Shannen Doherty Passed Away!

Shannen Doherty succumb to cancer.

Actress and activist Shannen Doherty passed away. She was diagnosed with terminal cancer. A lifelong smoker and supporter of animal rights, Doherty spent her final years asking for Americans to donate to cancer research and animal charities.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” said Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane.

Doherty was best known as Brenda Walsh, the iconic character and hotty from Beverly Hills 90210. She also was in the series Charmed with Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan.

The initial premise of 90210 was based on the adjustment and culture shock that twins Brandon (Jason Priestley) and Brenda Walsh (Doherty) experienced when they and their parents, Jim (James Eckhouse) and Cindy (Carol Potter), moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Beverly Hills, California. In addition to chronicling the characters' friendships and romantic relationships, the show addressed topical issues such as sex, date rape, homophobia, animal rights, alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, eating disorders, racism (including antisemitism), teenage suicide, teenage pregnancy, and AIDS.
After poor ratings during its first season, the series gained popularity during the summer of 1991, when Fox aired a special "summer season" of the show while most other series were in reruns. Viewership increased dramatically, and 90210 became one of Fox's top shows when it returned that fall. The show became a global pop culture phenomenon with its cast members, particularly Jason Priestley and Luke Perry, who became teen idols; the series also made actresses Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth household names in the United States. The show is credited with creating or popularizing the teen soap genre that many other successful television shows followed in the years to come.

The show had many cast changes; Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Brian Austin Green, and Ian Ziering were the only actors to appear during its entire run and appeared on the first episode of the spin-off Melrose Place. On February 27, 2019, it was announced that a six-episode reboot had been ordered by Fox and that the show would simply be titled BH90210. The revival premiered on Fox on August 7, 2019, and was cancelled on November 7, 2019.

One summer run of a show changed the lives of eight young actors.

Doherty, 53 was candid about her cancer and how it took a toll on her.

She was known for her many roles in television and film, including as Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie (1982–1983); Maggie Malene in Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985); Kris Witherspoon in Our House (1986–1988); Heather Duke in Heathers (1989); Brenda Walsh in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990–1994), 90210 (2008–2009) and BH90210 (2019); Prue Halliwell in Charmed (1998–2001); and Dobbs in Fortress (2021).

She dismissed the claims of being the "bad girl". She earned it from on screen feuds with several on Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed. Notably, Jennie Garth and Alyssa Milano were confirmed feuds. Beverly Hills, 90210, Doherty gained a reputation in the media for bad behavior that dominated her public image for many years. People magazine called her the "iconic Hollywood 'bad girl' of the nineties". Between 1992 and 1994, coverage alleging fighting between Doherty and her co-stars dominated tabloid headlines, particularly concerning her heated feud with Garth, and further reports of heavy partying, on-set lateness, and physical fights. The zine Ben Is Dead, which published a newsletter called "I Hate Brenda" at the height of the show's popularity, even opened a hotline called the "Shannen Snitch Line" to which people could call in and report gossip about Doherty.

Luke Perry and Shannen Doherty.

This reputation gained further ground during her three seasons on Charmed, when tabloids fueled rumors of a feud with co-star Milano. In both instances, Doherty departed the shows acrimoniously after a few seasons; on Charmed, she was allegedly fired by producer Aaron Spelling after an ultimatum from Milano.

90210 executive producers Darren Star and Charles Rosin both confirmed that Doherty was difficult to work with on-set; Rosin commented that "...she had habitual lateness. Her lateness was appalling, and she had a callous attitude and an indifference." Jennie Garth admitted that the two of them "often wanted to claw each other's eyes out" several times. At one point in 1993, an argument between Doherty and Garth on the Beverly Hills, 90210 set escalated into physical violence; nonetheless, Garth said the feud was mutual and based more on immaturity than true animosity, and that the feud has been long over. Doherty, for her part, admitted to making mistakes, blaming her behavior on the pressures of fame, her youth, and problems in her personal life. In 2010, she stated: "I have a rep. Did I earn it? Yeah, I did. But, after a while you sort of try to shed that rep because you're kind of a different person. You've evolved and all of the bad things you've done in your life have brought you to a much better place."

Her dysfunctional reputation inspired the Billy Bermingham-written satirical farce Shannen Doherty Shoots a Porno: A Shockumentary which featured Alexandra Billings and was performed at Chicago's Torso Theatre for three years from 1994 to 1997.

Lifelong Republican but supported liberal causes.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, but she went into remission two years later. That reprieve wouldn’t last. In February 2020, court documents in a lawsuit Doherty filed against her insurance company over damage to her home said she was “dying” of Stage 4 breast cancer, which metastasized to the point of being incurable.

“It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways,” Doherty told “Good Morning America” at the time. “There are definitely days where I say, ‘Why me?’ And then I go, ‘Well, why not me? Who else besides me deserves this?’ None of us do.”

Doherty with Alyssa Milano.

In June 2023, she shared an emotional post on Instagram revealing that her cancer had spread to her brain at the beginning of the year.

“On January 5th, my scan showed Mets in my brain,” Doherty captioned a video of her receiving radiation.

“My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life,” said Doherty. “But that fear…. The turmoil….. the timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like.”

Born on April 12, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, to a mother who owned a beauty salon and a father who worked in a bank, it didn’t take long for Doherty to go Hollywood. It happened by the time she was 10, when she made her acting debut on the short-lived series “Father Murphy” just three years after her family moved to Los Angeles.

Series producer Michael Landon noticed the fledgling actor and cast her on his hit show “Little House on the Prairie” the following year as Laura Ingalls Wilder’s adopted daughter for an 18-episode run.

That exposure led to a succession of roles, including a three-year turn (1986-88) on the Wilford Brimley family drama “Our House” as one of the leads and a starring turn in the 1989 high school dark comedy “Heathers.”

Blame Game: Thomas Mathew Crooks!

The bullied strikes the bully. The shooter had a motive and the feds are trying to determine why he tried to assassinate Donald J. Trump.

Be warned there will be graphic images and graphic violence. Take discretion in viewing this post

Again, we do not wish any harm on anyone. But I am crystal clear on how the rhetoric spoken contributed to this. I hope the former president lowers the rhetoric.

Doubt it though.

No kumbaya.

340 mass shootings in the United States.

This will also be a test of whether both candidates have the strength to lead a nation.

The FBI has now taken control of the situation. This is an unprecedented moment in U.S. history. On Saturday, a man tried to assassinate former president Donald J. Trump, the 2024 presumptive Republican nominee. This happened on the eve of the Republican National Convention which is to begin on Monday.

Trump was campaigning in Butler, Pennsylvania when this attack happened.

President Joe Biden will address the nation this week. He will call upon Democrats and Republicans to tone down the rhetoric. He will call for the junk food media to stop sensationalizing the stories. He will not resign or step out of the race.

Biden has talked to Trump.

Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Josh Shapiro, Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), the U.S. Representatives of Pennsylvania, former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former vice president Mike Pence and Trump's family were notified.

Trump was grazed by a bullet in his ear. The U.S. Secret Service managed to take out the shooter identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20 of Bethel Park. One died and two were critically injured.

About 6:10pm, the former president was in one of his usual rants about Biden when he felt something and immediately went down. Then four more shots and the U.S. Secret Service was on top of the former president. Two snipers posted near the scene got the shooter within seconds.

Trump supporters pointed out to police about a man climbing on top of a roof and it did not catch on until it was too late. As they picked Trump back up, the former president lifted his fist in defiance and the supporters chanted, "USA, USA!"

Raising his fist after being shot at.

That was really pathetic. Instead of worrying about the safety of those in attendance and rushing Trump out, the campaign allowed idiots chanting like this was an act.

The suspect was identified.

Misinformation was spread fast. The far right already claimed the shooter was antifa and a Biden supporter. It was quickly identified the shooter was a registered Republican and he only donated $15 to a Democrat. That there will not calm the noise already claiming it was a plant, Sam Hyde, a Biden supporter or the fault of progressive agitators.

Accounts on X were quickly up posting images of the shooter and using the image of Trump with his first up as an apparent confirmation of act. These trolls were quickly posting antifa and Biden-Harris 2024 to deliberately fool the junk food media.

Many Trump supporters are saying this moment in history will put him in the White House.

Posting on his Truth Social media site about two and a half hours after the shooting, Trump said a bullet “pierced the upper part of my right ear.”

“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he said in the post. “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”

State voter records show that Crooks was a registered Republican. The upcoming Nov. 5 election in which Trump is challenging President Joe Biden would have been the first time Crooks had been old enough to vote in a presidential race.

When Crooks was 17, he made a $15 donation to ActBlue, a political action committee that raises money for left-leaning and Democratic politicians, according to a 2021 Federal Election Commission filing. The donation was earmarked for the Progressive Turnout Project, a national group that rallies Democrats to vote. The groups did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Biden's call to tone down rhetoric will be ignored. The far right will continue pushing conspiracies about Biden. Now that Trump survived a mass shooting, they will assume Biden wants to kill political rivals.

Crooks' father, Matthew Crooks, 53, told CNN that he was trying to figure out what happened and would wait until he spoke to law enforcement before speaking about his son.

In Bethel Park, about an hour away from where the shooting occurred, the streets surrounding the Crooks's home were blocked off by law enforcement authorities.

Mary and Stanley Priselac were standing on the porch of their nearby brick ranch-style home, trying to process the events of the last day and the spotlight now on their typically quiet residential neighborhood.

"Nothing happens on the street, everybody kind of minds their own business," said Stanley Priselac, 72. "Everybody is kind of shocked, surprised, some dismay."

"There's never been a gun issue. There's never been the police being called," said Mary Priselac, 67. "You kind of have to wonder what didn't he get in life? What led to this extreme?"

Thomas Crooks graduated in 2022 from Bethel Park High School, according to a statement from the Bethel Park School District received by local ABC affiliate WJET-TV.

"Our school district will cooperate fully with the active law enforcement investigation surrounding this case, and as such, we are limited in what we can publicly disclose," the statement read.

The school district did not immediately respond to an inquiry from Reuters.
Crooks received a $500 "star award" from the National Math and Science Initiative, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review newspaper.

Corey Comperatore did not survive the mass shooting.

A 2022 graduation ceremony video cited by the New York Times shows Crooks receiving his high school diploma to some applause. Video from that ceremony posted online shows Crooks with glasses in a black graduation gown and posing with a school official. Reuters could not immediately verify the authenticity of the video.

Law enforcement officials said on Saturday that Crooks carried no identification to the site of the shooting and had to be identified using other methods.

"We're looking at photographs right now and we're trying to run his DNA and get biometric confirmation," Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge, said during a press briefing.

Reuters could not immediately identify social media accounts or other online postings by Crooks. Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, did not immediately respond to questions on whether the platforms had removed any accounts related to the suspect.

The U.S. Congress is by far the most laziest in modern history. They are willing to take away freedoms when it comes to using phones, protesting, driving, women's rights, voting rights and social media. When it comes to an actual threat to safety, say firearms, they refuse to pass even meaningful legislation to curb it.

Far right lawmakers like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) will hop on social media talking about it but not doing a damn thing to stop it. Remember Trump mocked Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul after an intruder tried to kill him. Think about Pelosi, Alvin Bragg, Jack Smith and Mike Pence having credible threats on their lives because of Trump.

To all the Black firearm owners who support the Second Amendment or former president Donald J. Trump in the 2024 presidential race, I just want to say...

"YOU'RE GONNA BE SHOT BY POLICE TOO!"

The National Rifle Association never reacts to lawful exercise of firearm use when a Black, Hispanic, Arab, Muslim, Indigenous, LGBTQ or underage teen of color is carrying them.

It is automatic dehumanizing from the far right, police unions and the junk food media.

When white men, women or even some Asians are carrying firearms, the NRA is often parading them around like they're heroes and protectors of freedom.

Secret Service snipers kill the suspect.

In about 45 states, I believe it is lawful for you to walk down a street with a firearm.

If you're a Black man walking down the street with a firearm, the random 911 call or the visual spotting from a police officer merits an automatic drawl of a service weapon.

Police officers within seconds are either shooting or premeditated an excuse to use force.

The unions back up their claims of "fearing for their lives" despite the perpetrator not even firing a round. Given that the junk food media loves to paint the aggressor as the victim, the police officer is given the benefit of doubt. The person police shot usually do not get any ounce of doubt. A mugshot of a suspect or a picture of a person posing with money or firearms automatically draws far right conclusions to justification of force.

Even fleeing from police with a firearm and not even pointing at them results in police shootings.

If a person does survive, the state still charges the person for a crime despite the state allowing open carry and lawful possession.

So I just want to say that the Second Amendment is White, period.

Trump posted this on Truth Social. Now tell me, will he stop pushing violent threats on Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Alvin Bragg, Michael Cohen, Nancy Pelosi, Jack Smith and Stormy Daniels?

A bullet does not care about color. We all bleed red and so many lives are lost to gun violence and Republicans offer no solutions other than "thoughts and prayers" with a touch of "lock em up."

Gun violence is the number one threat in the United States.

I dismiss this ridiculous notion that criminals are the problem, not the guns. Firearms are often obtained through legal purchases.

Again, having more security, teachers being armed and offering safe rooms are not solving the problem. The problem is lawmakers not willing to stop gun violence.

According to the far rightWhite shooters are mentally ill. Black shooters are unrepentant thugs and criminals. Gay shooters are active groomers. Muslim shooters are terrorists. Hispanic and Asian shooters are illegal immigrants. According to the far right, almost all mass shooters are registered Democrats because they have liked or done one thing common to the left. Of course, they often share disinformation by using the "Sam Hyde" meme or make bogus social media platforms with the shooter's image as a way to denounce most mass shooters being white or associated with conservative causes. They say a white person should "protect" themselves from protesters and use of firearms are "justified" if they come to a protest to instigate conflict. They say if a shooter is active military or a veteran who supports conservative causes, they are considered a "heroes" and use of firearms are justified. If the shooters are teens, the far right automatically assume the gunmen are Black.

The Republicans usually amplify white victims. Anytime a person of color kills a white victim, it is often wall-to-wall coverage on Fox, Twitter and they force it into national news. They make the case to blame Black Lives Matter, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Democrats, Rev. Al Sharpton and rap music for Black on whatever violence. Republican lawmakers who do not live in urban neighborhoods often troll social media to talk about gun violence or crime in Chicago, Baltimore, Milwaukee and New York City while not doing a damn thing to stop it. If a white person shoots a Black person, the shooter is given the benefit of doubt. White shooters are given glowing profiles about their perfect lives and how friends noticed something but refused to do something. When it comes to Black shooters, automatic vilification. They don't see mental illness. They see it as gang violence, allegedly fatherless homes, Democratic policies or the need for more firearms. The far right and Republicans exploit gun violence in the Black community for culture wars and racism.

So in closing, expect more.

No. 325.

The Republicans told Americans to get over it and cry more. Now I don't wish death on anyone. But guess how former presidents, the current president and former vice president feel after one of their own showered constant discontent towards them.

Former president nearly assassinated by a man who had a high powered firearm.

The former president was shot. He was injured, grazed by the shooter's bullets.

President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, former president Donald J. Trump, Gov. Josh Shapiro and numerous Republicans and Democrats are in shock.

There was a mass shooting and attempted assassination on Trump. And all the noise that Trump amplified led to this. Biden might of had a bad debate, but Trump now has to watch his back after he finally tasted karma.

Happening in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump was shot and some spectators were shot and the U.S. Secret Service stopped the shooter. Two people and the shooter were killed.

Trump was grazed by a firearm. He was bleeding from his right ear.

Former president Barack Obama, former president Bill Clinton, former president George W. Bush were notified. The former president was rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The FBI, U.S. Secret Service and ATF are involved.

Biden will address the nation.

Biden will address the assassination attempt.

The Republican National Convention is expected to start in Milwaukee. The former president and his running mate will be hopefully attending.

A local prosecutor said the suspected gunman and at least one attendee are dead. The Secret Service said two spectators were critically injured.

The attack, by a shooter who law enforcement officials say was then killed by the Secret Service, was the first attempt to assassinate a president or presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981. It comes amid a deeply polarized political atmosphere, just four months from the presidential elections and days before Trump is to be officially named the Republican nominee at his party’s convention.

Richard Simmons Passed Away!

Fitness guru Richard Simmons passed away.

The former fitness guru from the 1980s and 1990s has passed away hours after his birthday. The openly gay and flamboyant Richard Simmons has passed away.

Simmons who retreated from the public eye celebrated his 76th birthday before the Los Angeles Police Department were notified of him being unresponsive.

On Friday, Simmons shared a message on social media thanking fans for the birthday wishes.

"Thank you…I never got so many messages about my birthday in my life!" Simmons wrote. "I am sitting here writing emails. Have a most beautiful rest of your Friday."

He signed the post "Love, Richard."

Simmons, the fitness coach known for his eccentric personality and "Sweatin’ to the Oldies" workout videos, rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s after opening a number of gyms and releasing dozens of fitness videos.

His website describes him as "one of the world’s most revered and iconic fitness personalities" who has been an "instructor and motivator for over 40 years."

"By delivering a serious message with his trademark humor, he has helped millions of overweight men and women lose more than 3,000,000 pounds by adopting sensible, balanced eating programs and exercise regimes that are energetic, fun and motivating," a biography for Simmons on his website reads.

Simmons grew up in New Orleans and weighed 268 pounds when he graduated high school, according to his website, which added that he "took control of his weight" by changing his lifestyle to include moderate eating and exercise.

From there, he took his talents to the West coast, moving to Los Angeles in 1973, where he was unable to find a gym that "wasn’t for people who were already in shape," according to his website. So, Simmons took it upon himself to create one, and SLIMMONS in Beverly Hills was opened in 1974.

It was at SLIMMONS where he taught classes and hosted seminars until 2013, his website said. His success also led to his own nationally syndicated series, "The Richard Simmons Show," which ran for four years and earned multiple Emmy awards.

Simmons also released 65 fitness videos over the course of his life, which sold over 20 million copies, and authored nine books and three cookbooks, according to his website.

Letterman got annoyed when Simmons tried a product that caught on fire.

Simmons had been something of a recluse since 2014, and in January, he spoke out against an upcoming biopic being made about his life starring actor and comedian Pauly Shore, which Simmons said he never permitted.

“I have never given my permission for his movie. So don’t believe everything you read,” he wrote on Facebook at the time. “I no longer have a manager, and I no longer have a publicist. I just try to live a quiet life and be peaceful. Thank you for all your love and support.”

Since that post, Simmons has been active on social media, often writing motivational messages and sharing stories about moments and people in his life. The posts have ranged in topic from his childhood in New Orleans to racial segregation to fitness and his family.

His death comes just months after he posted a cryptic social media message, writing “I am ….dying,.” He later walked it back, but the next day, he shared that he had been diagnosed with skin cancer.

In the March 18 social media post, he wrote that he had “news” to share.

“Please don’t be sad. I am ….dying. Oh I can see your faces now. The truth is we all are dying. Every day we live we are getting closer to our death,” Simmons wrote.

“Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest every single day,” he continued in the post. “Get up in the morning and look at the sky… count your blessings and enjoy.”

The rest of the post included suggestions on how to lead a healthy lifestyle and reminders to hug the ones you love.

Later that day, he posted another update clarifying he was not dying.

“Sorry many of you have gotten upset about my message today. Even the press has gotten in touch with me. I am not dying,” he wrote. “It was a message about saying how we should embrace every day that we have.”

The next day, he shared that he had been diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma, a type of skin cancer.

The day after that, he shared in another social media post that the issue was resolved after three procedures with a “cancer doctor,” Dr. Ralph A. Massey.

It was not immediately clear if Simmons’ recent skin cancer diagnosis had anything to do with his death.

Simmons allegedly was transitioning during his reclusive years. The allegations he was living his life as a woman named Fiona was rumored. However, he did dress as a woman.

Simmons also was a foil on The Late Show with David Letterman. He often was trying to push off controversial products with his namesake.
