Let's Annihilate The Republican Party!

Now that's pretty stupid!

Harry Truman, Bill Clinton and now Barack Obama has to deal with a Congress that continues this ridiculous gridlock and an extremist agenda from the opposition. They've managed to win reelection and the message war on how the far to the extreme the Republican Party will go.

You know it took 40 years to have a full Republican majority. In 1994 the Republicans won back Congress over issues such as taxes, guns, and religious extremism. They briefly loss the Senate when Jim Jeffords left the Republicans to become an independent. The Republicans lost the majority officially in 2006.

For a few years, Democrats maintained the majority. They managed to get things done during the final years of George W. Bush and the first years of Barack Obama. The Republicans won back the House of Representatives and state governorships. For a brief moment, the Republicans had the wind in their sails.

They thought they could defeat President Barack Obama with the narrative that he was overreaching and didn't do enough to save the economy.

As soon as the Republicans got back into power, they've thrown out the playbook of working to save the economy. They decided to focus on the great culture war.

The Republicans tired to repeal Obamacare over 35 times. They want to pass legislation that restrict a woman's right to choice. Republicans want deregulation of gun laws, tax cuts for the upper income, restrictions to voting rights, civil rights and gay rights.

All these ideas helped the Republicans nominate a sponge like perennial loser Mitt Romney.

He was clobbered by President Barack Obama in a wide margin. Republicans didn't take back the senate and Congress job approval is a record lows.

Now it's 2013, and their playing the same old dusty playbook!

They haven't put forth any decent ideas to help this nation.

With a changing demographic, Republicans are losing out on key voters. The key voters that Republicans are losing are Hispanics and women. They've already lost the Black vote and Jewish vote!

They've pissed off many and continue down this path to destruction.

When they can't get their way, they'll gridlock, bitch and whine about how it's President Barack Obama's fault for their behavior.

The Organization for Action is the president's grassroots organization. It's mission is to recruit volunteers to get the president's message out there.

The president is winning the battle over the sequester. That's probably why the Republicans are hoping they'll place the blame on the president if they fail to pass legislation that prevents major domestic and military cuts.

Yeah, the Republican Party is doing a fine job destroying itself.

Limbaugh: [For The First Time] I'm Ashamed Of My Country....

How could he be ashamed of his country? He makes a nine figure salary for the next five years!

He's only ashamed that he has lost major advertising after the whole Sandra Fluke fiasco!

He and the conservative agitators in the media now have four more years of their sworn enemy President Barack Obama.

And to make matters worse, Republicans are fighting each other. Karl Rove want to purge the U.S. Senate of the most extreme members and stop extreme candidates from winning the primaries.

Fox News took a severe nosedive in the average demographic ratings. Although on the top of the cable news chain, the network is suffering from a lack of trust among the viewers.

Republicans are at an all time low among the public. The Republican Party has low approval among the public. They've managed to sink Congress to historical lows since retaking back the House of Representatives. If Congress fails to pass a bill to stop the sequester, Republicans will take the majority of the blame, endangering their slim majority in the House.

Republican governors Rick Scott (Florida), Scott Walker (Wisconsin), John Kasich (Ohio) and Nikki Haley (South Carolina) are giving up the fight on Obamacare. They're finally going to embrace the implications of the health care law.

President Barack Obama job approval is up and his policies on gun control, tax reform and spending are approved among the public. Although he has still lagging ratings in the handling of the economy, his popularity shot up on many social issues.

More Americans are tolerant of the LGBT community and are slowly supporting gay marriage.

S.E. Cupp, Joe Scarborough, David Brooks, and some members of Congress (who choose to stay anonymous) are urging the Republicans to stop taking orders from Rush Limbaugh, The Drudge Report and Fox News.

Republicans made fools of themselves over the "Friends of Hamas" endorsement of Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel. Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky), Breitbart, and others took the bait! There was a rumor of this so-called imaginary Gaza Strip organization embracing the nomination of Hagel. The nominee is a former Nebraska senator who happens to be a Republican.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) made a fool of himself also over a parody website making a news report about detainees of GITMO getting access to the G.I. bill.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) couldn't get a person to endorse her repeal of Obamacare.

Newt Gingrich is saying that the Republicans are playing like that losing team going against the Harlem Globetrotters.

And to make it worse, many Republicans are slowly coming to terms that the president will get what he wants.

Yeah, Rush Limbaugh is ashamed of his country. People aren't listening to him. They can't stomach all that whining from the likes of him and those who want to be like him!

Eric Boehlert of Media Matters for America wrote recently about the conservative outrage model is running out of steam.

He wrote that being outraged, and especially being outraged about made-up claims, like Obama's imaginary "name-calling" on Monday, has become a signature of the far right movement over the last four years. It's also blossomed into Fox News' entire business model. Fox News makes a pile of profits each year overreacting to imagined Obama slights.

The question is, has the Fox/Rush Limbaugh/Drudge model of the phony Outrage Machine damaged the conservative movement? Is it standing in the way of Republican progress and electoral success?

Writing at his site RedState this week, conservative CNN commentator Erick Erickson beseeched fellow partisans to drop the outrage shtick and to move into more substantial areas of debate. "Conservatives, frankly, have become purveyors of outrage instead of preachers for a cause," he wrote. "Who the hell wants to listen to conservatives whining and moaning all the time about the outrage du jour?"

Erickson's point is dead on. The amount of time and energy conservatives devote to utterly trivial bouts of phony outrage now seem to consume the movement, or at least the media portion of it. But it's unlikely Fox News and its legion of copycat whiners in the press will heed Erickson's wise advice. They're too busy super-serving a radical niche and making money off the faux Outrage Machine.

Marco Rubio's Water Grab Goes Viral!

The sip heard across the nation. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) grabs the bottle water and the late night comics attention.
The President of The United States is required by the U.S. Constitution to deliver a State of The Union. The opposition can deliver a rebuttal to the president's agenda. Tonight, Barack Obama delivered his address to the nation. The Republicans made it known that they weren't interested in it nor they care about his proposals.

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Florida) is often floated as a potential candidate for the 2016 U.S. presidential election. He was given the honor to deliver the Republican Response to the State of The Union.

Let's say this was a night for water bottles and sips.

Senator Rubio gets tongue tied and rushes for the water and takes a five second sip!

The Republican's response to the nation was a flat line and hopefully a sign of what the nation will face if we nominate or elected him or Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) for president.

Hopefully this gets some airtime because it's was pretty embarrassing for him.

One thing I do agree with Rubio is the fact that Congress does need to work together.

Despite our differences, I know that both Republicans and Democrats love America. I pray we can come together to solve our problems, because the choices before us could not be more important.

If we can get our economy healthy again, our children will be the most prosperous Americans ever.

And if we do not, we will forever be known as the generation responsible for America’s decline.

Essie Mae Washington-Williams Passes Away!

Civil Rights activist Essie Mae Washington-Williams died in Columbia, South Carolina. It was confirmed by her family.

Black History Month is a part of American history. Today we learned that the "love child" of 1948 United States presidential candidate and formerly devout segregationist Strom Thurmond passed away today! It's been about 10 years since the death of the South Carolina senator who rose to fame as the southern politician who had a hate of integration and Civil Rights leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

James Strom Thurmond was born on December 5, 1902 in the Edgefield, South Carolina. He was an American politician who served for 48 years as a United States Senator. He also ran for the Presidency of the United States in 1948 as the segregationist States Rights Democratic Party (Dixiecrat) candidate, receiving 2.4% of the popular vote and 39 electoral votes. He was the 103rd governor of the state of South Carolina.

Thurmond represented South Carolina in the United States Senate from 1954 until 2003. Originally he started as a Democrat. After the Democratic Party supported the landmark Civil Rights Act, Thurmond conversion to Republican came. He switched because of his opposition to the 1964 Civil Rights Act, disaffection with the national party, and support for the conservatism of the Republican presidential candidate and Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater. 

He left office as the only senator to reach the age of 100 while still in office and as the oldest-serving and longest-serving senator in U.S. history (although he was later surpassed in length of service by Robert Byrd and Daniel Inouye).

Thurmond holds the record at 14 years as the longest-serving Dean of the United States Senate in U.S. history.

In opposition to the Civil Rights Act of 1957, he conducted the longest filibuster ever by a lone senator, at 24 hours and 18 minutes in length, nonstop. 

In the 1960s, he opposed the civil rights legislation of 1964 and 1965 to end segregation and enforce the voting rights of African-American citizens. He always insisted he had never been a racist, but was opposed to excessive federal authority. 

He notably was quoted as saying that "all the laws of Washington and all the bayonets of the Army cannot force the Negro into our homes, into our schools, our churches and our places of recreation and amusement."

Starting in the 1970s, he moderated his position on race, but continued to defend his early segregationist campaigns on the basis of states' rights in the context of Southern society at the time, never fully renouncing his earlier viewpoints.

Six months after Thurmond's death in 2003, it was revealed that at age 22, he had fathered a mixed-race daughter, Essie Mae Washington-Williams, with his family's maid, Carrie Butler, a 16-year-old black girl. 

Although Thurmond never publicly acknowledged Essie Mae, he paid for her education at a historically black college and passed other money to her for some time. His children by his marriage eventually acknowledged their father bore a child outside of marriage.

TPM reports that Essie Mae Washington-Williams, the biracial daughter of the former presidential candidate who ran on the segregationist platform of the Dixiecrat Party. The Dixiecrats were conservative based group of Democrats who supported Jim Crow legislation to keep separate facilities for Whites and non-White citizens.

Washington was the natural daughter of Carrie Butler, who was 16 when her daughter was born, and Strom Thurmond, then 22. Butler worked for his parents as a domestic servant. She sent her daughter from South Carolina to her older sister Mary and her husband John Henry Washington to be raised in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. 

She was named Essie after another of Carrie's sisters, who fostered her briefly as an infant. Growing up, Essie Mae lived with a cousin seven years older than she, who she believed was her half-brother. 

Washington was unaware of the identity of her biological parents until 1941, when she was 16, when her mother told her and took her to meet Thurmond in person.

Washington-Williams and her mother met infrequently with Thurmond after that, although they had some contact for years.

After high school, Washington-Williams worked as a nurse at Harlem Hospital in New York City, and took a course in business education at New York University.

She did not live in the segregated South until 1942, when she started college at South Carolina State University (SCSU), a historically black college. Thurmond paid for her college education. After having grown up in Pennsylvania, Washington was shocked by the racial restrictions of the South. She graduated from SCSU around 1946 with a degree in business.

When Washington-Williams announced her family connection, it was acknowledged by the Thurmond family. 

In 2004 the state legislature approved the addition of her name to the list of Thurmond children on a monument for Senator Thurmond on the South Carolina Statehouse grounds.

Washington-Williams said she would apply for membership in the United Daughters of the Confederacy, based on her heritage through Thurmond to ancestors who fought as Confederate soldiers. She encouraged other African Americans to do so as well, in the interests of exploring their heritage and promoting a more inclusive view of Southern history among lineage societies. She said,

"It is important for all Americans to have the opportunity to know and understand their bloodline. Through my father's line, I am fortunate to trace my heritage back to the birth of our nation and beyond. On my mother's side, like most African-Americans, my history is broken by the course of human events."

The lineage society is for female descendants of Confederate veterans of the American Civil War. As her father Thurmond had been a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, she could use his completed genealogical documentation of links to participating ancestor(s). She also intended to join the Daughters of the American Revolution.

In 2005, Washington-Williams was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in education from South Carolina State University at Orangeburg when she was invited to speak at their commencement ceremony. That year she had published a memoir, Dear Senator: A Memoir by the Daughter of Strom Thurmond (2005), written with William Stadiem. It explored her sense of dislocation based on her mixed heritage, as well as going to college in the segregated South after having grown up in Pennsylvania.

It was nominated for both a National Book Award and a Pulitzer Prize.

Washington-Williams said that she intended to be active on behalf of the Black Patriots Foundation, which was raising funds to build a monument on the National Mall in Washington D.C. to honor American blacks who served in the American Revolutionary War.

Her death brought forth a legacy shattered by the notion of a colorblind society. Even though Strom Thurmond legacy was marred with controversy, I guess before he had died, he had a change of heart!

He voted in favor for the national recognition of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of National Service.

He voted for the James Brady Law in which it banned semi-automatic firearms.

He went on to hire his first Black staffer in 1971. 

Thurmond still supported state's rights but toned down his rhetoric in later years. He was a big contributor to Ronald Reagan's electoral victory over Jimmy Carter, the incumbent president of the late 1970s. Thurmond was friends with late senators Ted Kennedy, Daniel Inouye, and Robert Byrd.   

In 2002, then U.S. Majority Leader Trent Lott, the Republican from Mississippi caused a firestorm. While he attended the birthday of Thurmond. He fell from power after praising Strom Thurmond's 1948 segregationist Dixiecrat presidential bid. Lott said: "When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over the years, either.

That was the last controversy for Thurmond before he died later into 2003.

Essie Mae Washington-Williams didn't want to ruin her father's legacy as a decent man! She give him the opportunity to change his ways before he would have died. And today, I think her father would have been proud to have to see her help people of color succeed in America.

Today the United States has the first Black president and two members* of the United States senate who are Black. Ceiling are broken and legacies will be born!

The liberal wing of the Democratic Party continues to be at odds with the conservative wing of the party. 

As we continue into modern politics, the Democrats from the South, Midwest and Mountains West are scared shitless. The conservative U.S. Senate Democrats from North Carolina, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Montana, Alaska, Nevada, Louisiana, Arkansas, Colorado, North Dakota and South Dakota are scared of the vindictive National Rifle Assocation over firearm regulations.

This week alone we have seen incidents that involved firearms. Many Americans lose their lives due to unregistered firearms in the hands of people who have mental issues.

From the comments on social networks to the guy holed up in the bunker, the gun nuts are out! The Republican, the NRA and conservatives relish in this paranoid fantasy that President Barack Obama is mounting a full-scale war against the Second Amendment.

They can't even accept the fact the president shoots a firearm. The Republicans and their conservative allies continue to waste their time and energy fighting a culture war. As the president keeps laying out traps, as expected they'll fall through them.

How many more people must lose their lives?

Is your firearm more important than your life?

How many Americans died at the hands of a gun?

BREAKING: Alabama Child Safe! Jimmy Lee Dykes Dead!

What trigger this extremist? Was it the angry voices of talk radio, Fox News and the NRA?

Today, word out of Midland City, Alabama reports that the White Extremist, Jimmy Lee Dykes, 65 is dead and the young boy was safe.

After nearly a week of a major standoff in the rural area of the Midland City area, multiple sources say that the shooter was found dead.

Dykes was described by neighbors as an anti-government recluse! He would often get into a violent confrontation with neighbors and had killed animals that went onto his property.

Jimmy Lee Dykes, the retired Alabama trucker who suppose to be in court, committed murder on a person who just doing his job as a bus driver.

On Tuesday, Dykes stormed a bus and ordered the driver to give him children. The bus driver refused and he paid the price for his heroic actions. Charles Poland, Jr. was laid to rest on Sunday.

Dykes kidnapped the 5 year old boy and took him to the underground bunker near his property.

Alabama police and the FBI were involved in trying to negotiate a peaceful end to the situation.

Unfortunately, Dykes went out like every terrorist, in a bloody death.

We don't know what happened but we'll keep you posted on the latest coming out of Alabama here on Journal de la Reyna.

Conservatives Outraged Over Obama Firing A Gun!

President Barack Obama shooting! Conservatives wanted proof that he shoots and they're still not satisfied!

Obviously, these Republicans and their conservative allies didn't think President Barack Obama shoots! 

Of course with all the training from the United States Secret Service and Central Intelligence Agency, the president is probably prepared to beat someone down or fire upon that individual if he's cornered and his protection was penetrated! 

To think the president has no firearm training was silly! 

The president probably carries a firearm! And these stupid ass conservatives wouldn't even know!

Seriously, did you think that President Barack Obama never owned a firearm?

Well in the minds of these WHITE EXTREMISTS, the president can't shoot a gun and he's determined to strip them of their Second Amendment Rights.

Of course, Jon Stewart made note to the president that anything he does isn't going to win over Republicans!

No matter what evidence, the Republicans continue to be skeptical about the president admitting that he "shoots all the time".

The Drudge Report splashed on the screen a picture of the president laughing with his cabinet with the screen caption "I Go Shooting All The Time!"

Now the proof and yet, the gay conservative agitator isn't impressed!

I am assuming these racist bigots aren't either!

I guess when Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and the National Rifle Association wanted proof, they got it!

The White House released a photo of the president firing a rifle practicing skeet shooting!

Put this in the rifle and shoot it!

Anyway, I want the Republicans to get even more nutter (or I meant nastier)! Because they've already riled up the Black and Latinos across this nation! Hopefully the energy continues on so it could affect members of Congress. The Democrats want to target members who've been the spotlight for far too long!

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) is one member they want out of Congress.

President Barack Obama is going to be aggressive against the NRA, Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Drudge and World Net Daily. He's had enough of the false information being spread by these fools!

They've made a complete NIGGERIZATION of the first Black president who managed to write a legacy of great achievements despite these WHITE EXTREMISTS in the conservative movement. Note I don't say Republicans or Democrats often, but a WHITE MALE is likely going to have a reactionary response to the president, regardless of what he does!

Now that they see a Black man with a gun!

Groundhog's Day!



Unemployment figures for January are released and yet the picture stays the same. The jobs report released today stated that 157,000 jobs were added during the month of January and yet our unemployment number still rose to 7.9%.

This is the first time since the reelection, unemployment numbers rose. Still impressive that the country added jobs but yet those who dropped out of the workforce and the seasonal layoffs from retail didn't contribute to the climb in unemployment.

President Barack Obama and the Congress are now debating over the sequester. The sequester will have some major impact on defense and domestic spending. The president signals a fight with Congressional Republicans over spending cuts to safety nets.

The president is going to be more aggressive against Republicans. The figures shows that nonfarm payrolls rose 157,000 for the first month of 2013 while the unemployment rate edged higher to 7.9 percent, news unlikely to alter the Federal Reserve's monetary policy or instill confidence that the recovery is gaining steam.

Economists were looking for 160,000 net new jobs created with the unemployment rate holding steady at 7.8 percent.

The ho-hum jobs numbers for January were accompanied by substantial revisions higher for previous months, according to the report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

November's numbers rose from the originally reported 161,000 to 247,000, while December was pushed upward to 196,000 from 155,000.

"The gains we've received on the January jobs report are the start of positive readings for the foreseeable future," said Todd Schoenberger, managing partner at LandColt Capital. "The first quarter has historically delivered surprises to the upside anyway, so expect January revisions and February-March readings to be significantly positive."

Retail led the way in January with 33,000 new jobs, while construction rose 28,000.

For the first time in nearly two years, the average duration of unemployment made a significant move lower.

That number fell to 35.3 weeks, its lowest since January 2011.

However, a separate unemployment measure that also takes into account those who have quit looking for jobs as well as those working part-time for economic reasons remained unchanged at 14.4 percent.

Though some recent economic reports, particularly in housing, show an economy on the mend, gains in jobs have been hard to come by.

Average job creation for 2012 was around 151,000, considered near the benchmark for the unemployment rate to stabilize but not fall.

Most significantly, Federal Reserve monetary policy is now tied directly to the jobless rate. The U.S. central bank has said it will not alter its zero interest rate policy until the jobless rate falls to 6.5 percent and inflation eclipses 2.5 percent.

As the month begins, we're looking forward to the spring hiring season. Many Americans are looking optimistic about the future and the stock market has seen it's biggest gains post recession.

And while conservative agitators continue to whine off about the president's "failures" and openly rooting for an economic collapse, the rest of us are looking forward.

Iowa Republican Senator: Urban Crimes Reminds Me Of Black Killing Blacks!

Republican senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa runs his mouth! He doesn't look at urban gun crime as a problem! 

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is a conservative Republican. He's not as nutty as his governor Republican Terry Branstad or Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa), but Grassley is one with them!

In Grassley's warped mind, the notion of bringing up gun control when incidents involving firearms reached an all time high this month alone is an assault on the Second Amendment.

Tell me, Republicans how many of your freedoms were lost under President Barack Obama?

How many amendments are in the U.S. Constitution?

Grassley with a majority of Republicans are going against the president's proposals to stop gun violence.

An overwhelming majority of Americans would like to see strict background checks and ways to prevent those with mental issues to own firearms.

But that's tone deaf to the Republicans, the National Rifle Association and those in the conservative media.

The nation's oldest cable network CNN is going through a major shakeup! This will soon put Soledad O'Brien on the sidelines. With Jeff Zucker at the helm of CNN, the network will go through a major overhaul of reporters, media personalities and network programming.

In the meantime, Soledad continues to bring the facts to the table and have Republicans and their conservative allies screaming!

Soledad reads from the Centers for Disease Controls report that links youth culture and gun violence and the Iowa senator didn't want none of that.

Also in mention to Hadiya Pendleton's tragic murder this week, Soledad mentions the issue about gun violence in Chicago.

Grassley stated: “Well, I think that’s the place in our society where you would study the issue of black violence on blacks.”

Now again, we got to look at how WHITE CONSERVATIVE MEN think!

They think with this macho bravado of how the United States is always "leading the world!"

They consider themselves the vocal opposition to gun control, Obamacare, immigration, gay rights, urban revival, women's rights, and climate change. Things that paint them more like a bunch of idiots and bigots instead of serious people.

Most of these recent violent incidents happened because of *gasp* WHITE MEN!

They use this phony patriotism to harbor single minded issues like the unanimous support of Israel. They'll go totally batshit over a critic of the Jewish nation, but in turn attack the president! They never think that attacking President Barack Obama is anti-American. This constant hate of Blacks, Latinos and Muslims led to multiple incidents that involved young men and women being killed by WHITE CONSERVATIVE men.

This incident in Chicago as well as many urban communities across the nation are looked upon the conservative media as "failed Democrat policies and President Barack Obama's sons and daughters!"

Instead of pointing out the issues with gun violence they'll scapegoat this as "black on black violence" or the faults of the entertainment industry (i.e. video games, rap music and movies). Stuff they've seen on the late local news.

Sure enough if this incident made it to the suburban school, church or business, then you'll hear non-stop coverage on the major news networks with each political agitator pointing fingers at one another.

(NOTE: Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) is retiring and it's going to be a competitive senate race in 2014).

Obama: [GOP] Really Need To Drop Rush Limbaugh And Fox News!

President Barack Obama plans an aggressive agenda. The president is aiming at two old foes that seem to keep his name in the negative light. In a interview with The New Republic, the president lets the publication know that he's no fan of these two and warns the Republicans to drop them fast!

Fox News and conservative agitator Rush Limbaugh finally pissed off President Barack Obama. The first four years were devoted to trashing him and his administration. The conservative leaning network plays favorites to Republicans and not so nice to Democrats.

President Barack Obama feels now rejuvenated and willing to taking on adversaries in the media. The conservative media was disasterous for the Republicans, the National Rifle Association, FreedomWorks, CrossroadsGPS and other organizations that swore a swift defeat of an embattled president. President Barack Obama outmatched the Republicans and now has them painted as extremists.
Rush Limbaugh is going to respond to the president's criticism after The New Republic interview.
They're going through some deep soul-searching.

Chris Hughes, the co-founder of Facebook and an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights, owns The New Republic. He was a coordinator for the president's reelection campaign.

Hughes owns the liberal news magazine and revamped its image. The president's interview signals a rebirth of the once struggling organization. This article will go viral soon. It will also merit swift responses from Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and their supporters.

The president ate with Republicans and stated to some congressional members that "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done!"

Before the president took his first oath of office, Rush Limbaugh offered some not so nice compliments to him! He stated that he "hopes Obama fails". That became the rally cry among the Republicans and their conservative allies.

The New Republic has released the article. Some of the most important pieces of the article include his criticism of Fox News and Limbaugh. The part that got the most attention:
I think if you talk privately to Democrats and Republicans, particularly those who have been around for a while, they long for the days when they could socialize and introduce bipartisan legislation and feel productive. So I don't think the issue is whether or not there are people of goodwill in either party that want to get something done. I think what we really have to do is change some of the incentive structures so that people feel liberated to pursue some common ground.
One of the biggest factors is going to be how the media shapes debates. If a Republican member of Congress is not punished on Fox News or by Rush Limbaugh for working with a Democrat on a bill of common interest, then you'll see more of them doing it.
I think [House Speaker] John Boehner (R-Ohio) genuinely wanted to get a deal done, but it was hard to do in part because his caucus is more conservative probably than most Republican leaders are, and partly because he is vulnerable to attack for compromising Republican principles and working with Obama.
[L]et me be clear. There's not a — there's no equivalence there. In fact, that's one of the biggest problems we've got in how folks report about Washington right now, because I think journalists rightly value the appearance of impartiality and objectivity. And so the default position for reporting is to say, "A plague on both their houses." On almost every issue, it's, "Well, Democrats and Republicans can't agree"—as opposed to looking at why is it that they can't agree. Who exactly is preventing us from agreeing?
The president also sets the record straight on issues that most conservatives seem to ignore! In the interview, the president urges the public to demand their elected leaders to pass comprehensive immigration reform and a ban on assault weapons. The president knocks the NRA for their ad on him and his children. He also shared to The New Republic that he's a shooter too!
[When I am at Camp David] oftentimes [I've invited] guests of mine to go up there. And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations. And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake.
Part of being able to move this forward is understanding the reality of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas. And if you grew up and your dad gave you a hunting rifle when you were ten, and you went out and spent the day with him and your uncles, and that became part of your family's traditions, you can see why you'd be pretty protective of that. 
So it's trying to bridge those gaps that I think is going to be part of the biggest task over the next several months. And that means that advocates of gun control have to do a little more listening than they do sometimes.
The very mention of Rush Limbaugh will have him in a giddy. The fact that he's mention gives him a badge of honor. Because the president mentions him, the conservative agitator will brag that he's getting under the president's skin.

Obama Bucked By Federal Court On Appointments!


President Barack Obama renominates Richard Cordray as the Consumer Protection Board chief!

With the Republican minority putting legal limbo on the nominations of appointees to the president's cabinet, he made a couple of recess appointments. The federal courts concluded that the president's usage of recess appointments has come under fire.

The U.S. Federal Appeals Court in the District of Columbia ruled against the president on his recess appointments. They found the appointments were unconstitutional.

The Labor Relations Board was filled last year after the president made a recess appointment when the senate wasn't in session. But due to the fact that Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) trying to keep the senate running even during holidays, the president overstepped his bounds as an executive leader. According to the court, aided by a complaint from the Landmark Legal Foundation, a conservative front group sponsored by controversial talk radio agitator Mark Levin, they've managed to get a victory against the Consumer Protection Agency.

His shadow group battles the public sector unions and labor rights groups. Landmark co-sponsored with the National Right To Work Legal Foundation to protest the president's appointments. Noel Canning v. NLRB ruled in their favor. The White House will appeal this decision and it will fast track for the U.S. Supreme Court.

The brief was filed for four workers who are receiving free legal assistance from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys in cases pending before the Board.

Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Foundation, issued the following statement in light of the court's decision:

"Today, the court agreed with Foundation attorneys: Barack Obama's so-called recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board clearly violate the U.S. Constitution. Because the U.S. Senate was not in recess the President could not make the appointments to the NLRB without Senate confirmation.

"As a result, the Board has lacked a quorum since January 3, 2012, and under a U.S. Supreme Court precedent established in 2010, the court's ruling invalidates the Board's biased and decidedly pro-Big Labor rulings since that time. The court's decision in Noel Canning is a victory for independent-minded workers who have received unjust treatment at the hands of the pro-Big Labor NLRB and will hopefully serve as a persuasive example to other federal courts deciding on the validity of Obama's purported recess appointments."

This battle is far from over! The president and his legal team will take this to the Supreme Court.

The ruling also raises questions about the recess appointment of former Ohio attorney general Richard Cordray to head the fledgling Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and about the actions taken by the agency during his tenure, including major new rules governing the mortgage industry. Obama named Cordray at the same time as the NLRB nominees, and his appointment is the subject of a separate lawsuit in D.C. federal court.

The White House criticized the court ruling. “The decision is novel and unprecedented, and it contradicts 150 years of practice by Democratic and Republican administrations,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters Friday. “We respectfully but strongly disagree with the ruling.”

Presidents from both parties have made hundreds of recess appointments when the Senate has failed to act on nominations. Ronald Reagan holds the record with 243. Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush, made 105, and it was during his term that Senate Democrats began holding pro-forma sessions, some lasting less than a minute, when the Senate went on break. They contended that that kept the Senate in session and did not allow Bush to make recess appointments.

Republicans took up the practice when Obama was elected. But Obama decided to challenge it in January 2012, when the Senate was on a 20-day holiday but holding pro-forma sessions every three business days to block presidential action.

North Carolina politicians are proposing a ban on lottery sales to people who receive public assistance.

Don't you love it when Republicans say that the BIG BAD GOVERNMENT meddles in your life?

Yet these are the very same Republicans who want to meddle in the affairs of those who they claim to be "gubmint leeches". Republicans want to meddle in a minority voting precinct. They want to meddle between women's legs. And they want to push Christianity among those who don't follow. They want to meddle in a same sex couple's bedroom. These people want to see you piss in a cup to get unemployment, food and housing assistance if you lost your home in a natural disaster.

Another old, fat, ignorant, Republican who's out of touch with the rest of reality. Meet North Carolina's Paul Stam! Stam is the guy who wants to stop welfare recipients from playing the lottery! 

Yet these people continue to elect those who benefit from being "entitled" to punish the poor and needy!

This is the ongoing culture war in the United States. It's sponsored by the corporations that pollute our air, ground and water. It's sponsored by the religious leaders who chastise you for being a single parent, the family who is poor or the even that guy who's gay! It's sponsored by the media who allows the daily rambles of talk radio and online blogs to be divisive and downright racist towards fellow Americans. It's sponsored by the entitled who believe that the best way to help the poor is to drive them even poorer and help them wipe each other out with drugs, disease and gun violence.

They want control over us, but never control over them!

Mediaite has the goods on the next idiotic move by the culture warriors. A bill being introduced will ban any citizen in the state who receives financial assistance from playing the state lottery.

Raleigh-Durham’s ABC affiliate WTVD-TV is reporting that lawmakers in that state are proposing legislation that would bar people on welfare or in bankruptcy from purchasing lottery tickets.

As reporter Anna Laurel explains, “the lawmaker drafting this legislation told us today that the vendor selling the lottery ticket would be penalized if they know the person is on welfare or in bankruptcy, which has some questioning if this law really solves any problems.”

“We’re giving them welfare to help them live, and yet by selling them a ticket, we’re taking away their money that is there to provide them the barest of necessities.”

But as the Raleigh news team discovered, local lottery vendors have serious concerns. One clerk was quoted as saying, “I don't feel comfortable to ask my customers what their financial status is… it’s not my business.”

Meanwhile, North Carolina’s NAACP president Reverend William Barber said that while his organization doesn't “agree with the lottery to start with” he would prefer to have State representative Stam focus on larger issues “Rather than Mr. Stam having a side argument, ask him to stop blocking labor rights for poor people and working people. Ask him to have a real conversation about real wage.”

So once again, here's your government intervening in your lives. You don't want this right?

GOP Rage At Obama's Vision!


The era of Ronald Reagan is over! Get over it!

The future is now and Americans are looking forward.

President Barack Obama lays out the second term agenda. This agenda will face a stubborn Congress with many of the newest members affiliated with the extremist Tea Party. The Republicans are rebounding from a disastrous year.

The debt ceiling debate an often contentious issue has the United States hanging on a thread. The borrowing agencies are going to downgrade our nation's credit rating if Congress fails to pass bipartisan budgets.

The Republicans concede that it's possible for the three month extension of the debt ceiling. But they're also getting restless on the U.S. Senate inactive notion to pass a budget. They want domestic austerity cuts to social safety nets. They've harped on the Democratic controlled Senate not passing a budget in years. The Democrats are eager to have Republicans now put revenue (tax increases) on the table. That still has been a sticking point to them. The president has a backlog of nominees for his cabinet and federal courts held in limbo the first term. Republicans have filibustered most of the controversial nominees for the president.

The Republicans will continue to stall nominations in the U.S. Senate with cabinet replacements, federal judges and the potential nomination for a Supreme Court justice if one should retire or die.

The president will waste no time on the immigration reform debate. Seeing that the president carried an overwhelmingly amount of Hispanic/Latino votes, he vowed to make it possible for an immigrant to get a piece of the American Dream.

The president also recognized the needs of the African American voters. The president made note of the chaos in Florida and Ohio where long lines plagued early voters and on day voters. The Republican led legislatures in these states have brought forth rollbacks to early voting and ending same day registrations.

Republican state houses pushed restrictions on early voting, voter identification and removal of same day registration. They believe this was an advantage to helping President Barack Obama. They claim these created "voter fraud" and "voter intimidation". The president vows to keep Americans voting in the Midterm and 2016 presidential elections.

The president also recognized the LGBT community. From the mentions of Stonewall to the acceptance of our friends and family who are gay, the president vows to fight for equal rights for all Americans.

The president has invoked acceptance to gay marriage. Last year, the president went to ABC News with Robin Roberts and stated that he's realized that it's essential to accept a same sex family.

The president also recognized women's rights. Since the passing of the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay law, many American women are hoping the glass ceiling will be broken once and for all. The president vowed that reproductive rights via Roe v. Wade will sustain. The president vowed that he wants to bring family back into the fold. Understanding that American families are unmarried, the president urges Congress to keep safety nets in for families who suffered under the housing and banking crisis.

The president vowed to end the war in Afghanistan by the start of 2014. The president also vowed to capture those involved in the Algeria hostage situation at the BP oil wells. The threat of al-Qaeda isn't over until the president neutralizes top leadership and demands nations to cancel their sponsorship of this organization.

To many progressives, it's was a masterpiece. To conservatives, it's another speech filled with blame Bush, divisiveness, partisan rancor and the like.

The Republicans vow to fight the president at every step. The president vows to fight back even though he still has optimism that bipartisanship can occur.

The beginning of the second term starts. But we know ever since he won the election, his second term began on November 7, 2012 with Republicans are hating along the way!

The way the Republicans acted during the U.S. Election, is a reason for his second term victory.

Feels Like A Winner!


President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden take their formal oath of office again! This time the setting is huge and it's on the steps of the nation's capitol. The president and vice president will assume power for the next four years. And despite all the controversy and rancor from the ney sayers in the Republican Party, the country was happy that President Barack Obama won and their nominee the perennial loser Mitt Romney lost.

Vice President Biden, Mr. Chief Justice, Members of the United States Congress, distinguished guests, and fellow citizens:

Each time we gather to inaugurate a president, we bear witness to the enduring strength of our Constitution.  We affirm the promise of our democracy.  We recall that what binds this nation together is not the colors of our skin or the tenets of our faith or the origins of our names.  What makes us exceptional – what makes us American – is our allegiance to an idea, articulated in a declaration made more than two centuries ago:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Today we continue a never-ending journey, to bridge the meaning of those words with the realities of our time.  For history tells us that while these truths may be self-evident, they have never been self-executing; that while freedom is a gift from God, it must be secured by His people here on Earth.  The patriots of 1776 did not fight to replace the tyranny of a king with the privileges of a few or the rule of a mob.  They gave to us a Republic, a government of, and by, and for the people, entrusting each generation to keep safe our founding creed.


For more than two hundred years, we have.

Through blood drawn by lash and blood drawn by sword, we learned that no union founded on the principles of liberty and equality could survive half-slave and half-free.  We made ourselves anew, and vowed to move forward together.

Together, we determined that a modern economy requires railroads and highways to speed travel and commerce; schools and colleges to train our workers.

Together, we discovered that a free market only thrives when there are rules to ensure competition and fair play.

Together, we resolved that a great nation must care for the vulnerable, and protect its people from life’s worst hazards and misfortune.

Through it all, we have never relinquished our skepticism of central authority, nor have we succumbed to the fiction that all society’s ills can be cured through government alone.  Our celebration of initiative and enterprise; our insistence on hard work and personal responsibility, these are constants in our character.

But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action.  For the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias.  No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores.  Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation, and one people.

This generation of Americans has been tested by crises that steeled our resolve and proved our resilience.  A decade of war is now ending.  An economic recovery has begun.  America’s possibilities are limitless, for we possess all the qualities that this world without boundaries demands:  youth and drive; diversity and openness; an endless capacity for risk and a gift for reinvention.  My fellow Americans, we are made for this moment, and we will seize it – so long as we seize it together.

For we, the people, understand that our country cannot succeed when a shrinking few do very well and a growing many barely make it.  We believe that America’s prosperity must rest upon the broad shoulders of a rising middle class.  We know that America thrives when every person can find independence and pride in their work; when the wages of honest labor liberate families from the brink of hardship.  We are true to our creed when a little girl born into the bleakest poverty knows that she has the same chance to succeed as anybody else, because she is an American, she is free, and she is equal, not just in the eyes of God but also in our own.

We understand that outworn programs are inadequate to the needs of our time.  We must harness new ideas and technology to remake our government, revamp our tax code, reform our schools, and empower our citizens with the skills they need to work harder, learn more, reach higher.  But while the means will change, our purpose endures:  a nation that rewards the effort and determination of every single American.  That is what this moment requires.  That is what will give real meaning to our creed.

We, the people, still believe that every citizen deserves a basic measure of security and dignity.  We must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit.  But we reject the belief that America must choose between caring for the generation that built this country and investing in the generation that will build its future.  For we remember the lessons of our past, when twilight years were spent in poverty, and parents of a child with a disability had nowhere to turn.  We do not believe that in this country, freedom is reserved for the lucky, or happiness for the few.  We recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, any one of us, at any time, may face a job loss, or a sudden illness, or a home swept away in a terrible storm. The commitments we make to each other – through Medicare, and Medicaid, and Social Security – these things do not sap our initiative; they strengthen us.  They do not make us a nation of takers; they free us to take the risks that make this country great.

We, the people, still believe that our obligations as Americans are not just to ourselves, but to all posterity.  We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.  Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms.  The path towards sustainable energy sources will be long and sometimes difficult.  But America cannot resist this transition; we must lead it.  We cannot cede to other nations the technology that will power new jobs and new industries – we must claim its promise.  That is how we will maintain our economic vitality and our national treasure – our forests and waterways; our croplands and snowcapped peaks.  That is how we will preserve our planet, commanded to our care by God.  That’s what will lend meaning to the creed our fathers once declared.

We, the people, still believe that enduring security and lasting peace do not require perpetual war.  Our brave men and women in uniform, tempered by the flames of battle, are unmatched in skill and courage.  Our citizens, seared by the memory of those we have lost, know too well the price that is paid for liberty.  The knowledge of their sacrifice will keep us forever vigilant against those who would do us harm.  But we are also heirs to those who won the peace and not just the war, who turned sworn enemies into the surest of friends, and we must carry those lessons into this time as well.

We will defend our people and uphold our values through strength of arms and rule of law.  We will show the courage to try and resolve our differences with other nations peacefully – not because we are naïve about the dangers we face, but because engagement can more durably lift suspicion and fear. America will remain the anchor of strong alliances in every corner of the globe; and we will renew those institutions that extend our capacity to manage crisis abroad, for no one has a greater stake in a peaceful world than its most powerful nation.  We will support democracy from Asia to Africa; from the Americas to the Middle East, because our interests and our conscience compel us to act on behalf of those who long for freedom.  And we must be a source of hope to the poor, the sick, the marginalized, the victims of prejudice – not out of mere charity, but because peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes:  tolerance and opportunity; human dignity and justice.

We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall; just as it guided all those men and women, sung and unsung, who left footprints along this great Mall, to hear a preacher say that we cannot walk alone; to hear a King proclaim that our individual freedom is inextricably bound to the freedom of every soul on Earth.

It is now our generation’s task to carry on what those pioneers began.  For our journey is not complete until our wives, our mothers, and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts.  Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.  Our journey is not complete until no citizen is forced to wait for hours to exercise the right to vote.  Our journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity; until bright young students and engineers are enlisted in our workforce rather than expelled from our country.  Our journey is not complete until all our children, from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Appalachia to the quiet lanes of Newtown, know that they are cared for, and cherished, and always safe from harm.

That is our generation’s task – to make these words, these rights, these values – of Life, and Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – real for every American.  Being true to our founding documents does not require us to agree on every contour of life; it does not mean we will all define liberty in exactly the same way, or follow the same precise path to happiness.  Progress does not compel us to settle centuries-long debates about the role of government for all time – but it does require us to act in our time.

For now decisions are upon us, and we cannot afford delay.  We cannot mistake absolutism for principle, or substitute spectacle for politics, or treat name-calling as reasoned debate. We must act, we must act knowing that our work will be imperfect. We must act, knowing that today’s victories will be only partial, and that it will be up to those who stand here in four years, and forty years, and four hundred years hence to advance the timeless spirit once conferred to us in a spare Philadelphia hall.

My fellow Americans, the oath I have sworn before you today, like the one recited by others who serve in this Capitol, was an oath to God and country, not party or faction – and we must faithfully execute that pledge during the duration of our service.  But the words I spoke today are not so different from the oath that is taken each time a soldier signs up for duty, or an immigrant realizes her dream.  My oath is not so different from the pledge we all make to the flag that waves above and that fills our hearts with pride.

You and I, as citizens, have the power to set this country’s course.

You and I, as citizens, have the obligation to shape the debates of our time – not only with the votes we cast, but with the voices we lift in defense of our most ancient values and enduring ideals.

Let us each of us now embrace, with solemn duty and awesome joy, what is our lasting birthright.  With common effort and common purpose, with passion and dedication, let us answer the call of history, and carry into an uncertain future that precious light of freedom.

The Raw Story reports that in Salt Lake City, the talk of the town was a man carrying a semi-automatic AR 15 inside the mall. He was photographed at the JCPenny store making a purchase and the cause of the concern among shoppers. Although people shown concern about the man, under Utah law it's legal to carry into a mall as long as the firearm isn't "loaded".

The woman who took the photo that got the most attention said it happened on Wednesday, just four hours after President Barack Obama announced a series of executive orders relating to firearms.

This individual wanted to show his "appreciation" for his firearm.

Of course, if he would snap..............!

The man is Joseph Kelley and he's 22-years old and a former military officer. He and probably thousands of others will flock to the town square showing their arms and dedication to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

I forgot to mention this.

Earlier this month, a man who became famous for training firearm usage on YouTube was killed in an apparent murder.

Keith Ratliff, 32 was murdered by a single gun shot. He created the YouTube channel FPSRussia and it pulls over a billion views. The website shows how to operate firearms and archery. Ratcliff was a resident of Carnsvillle, Georgia, and the local authorities are searching for those involved.

Obama: We Can't Benefit From Ignorance!



President Barack Obama issues executive orders on the gun control. He will present his proposals to Congress. It's going to be a contentious fight with Republicans and the National Rifle Association.

From the Huffington Post, The New York Times and Associated Press, the president enacted gun control proposals by executive order.

The proposal, which comes at the end of a month-long review process spearheaded by Vice President Joe Biden, is broken down into four key subsections: law enforcement, the availability of dangerous firearms and ammunition, school safety and mental health.

In an effort to touch on all four of those elements, the president recommended requiring criminal background checks for all gun sales; reinstating the assault weapons ban; restoring a 10-round limit on ammunition magazines; eliminating armor-piercing bullets; providing mental health services in schools; allocating funds to hire more police officers; and instituting a federal gun trafficking statute, among other policies. The cost of the package, senior officials estimated, would be roughly $500 million, some of which could come from already budgeted funds.

Because these recommendations require congressional approval, the administration is supplementing its proposal with 23 executive actions that will be taken immediately. Those actions include requiring federal agencies to hand over relevant data for a background check system; providing law enforcement officials, first responders and school officials with better training for active shooting situations; directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence; and many more.

"I intend to use whatever weight this office holds to make them a reality," said the president, speaking about his full set of recommendations. "If there's even one life that can be saved, then we've got an obligation to try."

The approach is so sweeping that what would have otherwise been a headline-grabbing announcement received second billing. The president on Wednesday will nominate Byron Todd Jones, the acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, to take over the post permanently.

In total, the proposal goes beyond what most gun control advocates were hoping for at the start of Biden's review process, during which he held 22 different meetings with 229 different organizations and 31 elected officials.

"This is a monumental moment. It's a long time coming and we're thrilled the president's putting the full weight of his office behind this," said Josh Horowitz, executive director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. "We're ready to push this thing through."

But putting together ideas is the easy part. Selling them on the Hill will take a bit of legislative craft.

The president goes into the forum with determination that he can get this done!

"I will put everything I've got into this and so will Joe [Biden]. But I tell you, the only way we can change is if the American people demand it," said Obama. "We are going to need voices in those areas and congressional districts where the tradition of gun ownership is strong."

"It can't just be the usual suspects," he continued. "This will not happen unless the American people demand it."

The gun-rights lobby has already signaled that it will try to block the administration's effort. A spokesman for the National Rifle Association did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the president's proposal. But the organization has already harshly criticized the Obama administration for overreach.

Thomas Delahanty, a Washington police officer, took a bullet in his neck. It ricocheted off his spinal cord. Nerve damage to his left arm forced his retirement in November 1981.

Tim McCarthy, a Secret Service agent, was shot in the chest and suffered a lacerated liver. He recovered and returned to duty.

Still, four lives were changed forever, and all by a Saturday-night special -- a cheaply made .22 caliber pistol -- purchased in a Dallas pawnshop by a young man with a history of mental disturbance.

This nightmare might never have happened if legislation that is before Congress now -- the Brady bill -- had been law back in 1981.

Named for Jim Brady, this legislation would establish a national seven-day waiting period before a handgun purchaser could take delivery. It would allow local law enforcement officials to do background checks for criminal records or known histories of mental disturbances. Those with such records would be prohibited from buying the handguns.

The current gaps among states, those that have waiting periods report some success. California, which has a 15-day waiting period that I supported and signed into law while Governor, stopped nearly 1,800 prohibited handgun sales in 1989. New Jersey has had a permit-to-purchase system for more than two decades. During that time, according to the state police, more than 10,000 convicted felons have been caught trying to buy handguns.

Every year, an average of 9,200 Americans are murdered by handguns, according to Department of Justice statistics. This does not include suicides or the tens of thousands of robberies, rapes and assaults committed with handguns.

This level of violence must be stopped. Sarah and Jim Brady are working hard to do that, and I say more power to them. If the passage of the Brady bill were to result in a reduction of only 10 or 15 percent of those numbers (and it could be a good deal greater), it would be well worth making it the law of the land.

President Barack Obama heard the call of the American nation and he decided to work on getting things done! With the power of his pen, the president signed off executive orders to make law enforcement and those in the health industry to look into individuals with mental issues.

The proposal would instead affect the future production and sale of military-style weapons or high-capacity magazines.

"We are not going to go after existing stock of weapons or magazines," said a senior administration official. "We are going to limit it to the manufacturing of assault weapons and clips going forward."

The White House nevertheless insists that its package of proposals has teeth. It would provide law enforcement with the mechanisms needed to go after the illegal transfer of weapons and help prevent those weapons from falling into the wrong hands. It would also stem the use of military-style weapons -- the White House says its proposal would improve on the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, which was riddled with loopholes -- and give schools and communities resources to address violence when it occurs.

The question, in some respects, is not what's missing from the set of ideas, but what took the administration so long to get to this point.

"It is not as though we had this whole policy paper sitting on the shelf somewhere," said a senior administration official. "[We worked] 24/7 for the past month. And we met with a lot of groups and we learned a lot of ideas that came as a result of this process. We tried to be as comprehensive as possible. We are hoping that as the process goes on and as the debate goes on, we might come up with some other ideas."

The president also knocked the Republican and Democratic members of Congress still focused on getting "A" ratings from the NRA. The members of Congress who vote against gun control usually are embraced by the NRA.

The president also makes note of the gridlock in Congress and urged the American people to demand representatives and senators to get things done on gun control.

The president also endorsed the NRA's idea of having more school resources and guards in the nation schools. The NRA has maintained that any proposals regardless of what the president does they'll oppose.

Given the opportunity to look into the entertainment industry (i.e. video games, rap music, rock music, movies, television, blogs), the president noted that educators and those who study health in children should look out for warning signs of violence. Also as a parent, the president also noted that no parent wants to lose a child whether at Newtown's Sandy Hook, the Clackamas Town Center, a place of worship such as the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, the Aurora movie shooting, or the streets of Chicago.
