| Blockhead Joe Kent resigns from Trump’s sinking ship. |
A white nationalist politician turned intelligence analysis has officially resigned as the Director of National Counterterrorism.
Joe Kent announced he is resigning telling President Donald J. Trump and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that the U.S. is not focused. He said that he in good conscience cannot work under the administration's narrative.
Kent, who became the Republican nominee after he defeated lawmaker Jaime Herrera Beutler of Washington state. He would lose to Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-WA) in two contentious races.
Kent courted prominent white nationalists and posed recently for a photograph with a media personality who has previously described Adolf Hitler as a “complicated historical figure” who “many people misunderstand.”
An Associated Press review of internet postings, court records and campaign finance disclosures depict a candidate with a more complicated biography than the compelling personal story that turned the 42-year-old Kent into a favorite of conservative media.
After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this… pic.twitter.com/prtu86DpEr
Thank you President Trump!

Kent, a far right politician and former CIA paramilitary officer, quit as head of the National Counterterrorism Center, alleging the United States went to war "due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby" and that Trump had been duped by a "misinformation campaign."
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt fired back, writing that Kent's resignation letter was riddled with "false claims" and that Trump "had strong and compelling evidence that Iran was going to attack the United States first."
Kent is the first U.S. official to resign over the war, now in its 18th day.
Trump called Kent a "nice guy" but said if he didn't feel that Iran was a threat to the United States and the rest of the world with its nuclear-weapons program that he didn't want him in his administration.
“I always thought he was a nice guy, but I always thought he was weak on security, very weak on security,” Trump said. “When I read his statement, I realized that it’s a good thing that he’s out because he said Iran was not a threat. Every country recognized Iran was a threat. The question was whether they wanted to do something about it.”
Trump appointed Kent to his counterterrorism position in February 2025, praising him as “a Soldier, Green Beret, and CIA Officer, Joe has hunted down terrorists and criminals his entire adult life. … Joe will help us keep America safe by eradicating all terrorism, from the jihadists around the World, to the cartels in our backyard.”
