Sisterhood. Women of color representing Congress are under attack from Fox News the country's white nationalist news channel. |
I am certain the New York lawmaker will respond in kind to the progressive watchdog group's collection of Fox News and right wing media's attacks on her. She has stressed that she and two of her fellow progressives lawmakers are subjected to numerous death threats and personal attacks from those who watch that network. I am certain that Disney and Fox Corp are concerned that the rhetoric over at Fox News is going a bit too far.
Or they're just enablers of this culture of white nationalism masqueraded as a cable news channel.
Media Matters for America released a montage of conservatives attacking Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). It's quite disturbing. It's just the latest in a culture war sparked by Donald J. Trump and Republicans to silence women of color.
I documented six weeks of what Fox's obsessive coverage of @AOC looks like. Fox mentioned her at least 3,181 times in six weeks, and not a day went by where she wasn't brought up. This is just a small look into what Fox's relentless coverage looks like: pic.twitter.com/czbrYyPoWU— Courtney Hagle (@CourtneyHagle) April 12, 2019
Not to mention the attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rep. Rashida Tliab (D-MI) also have people enraged. Some are calling for accountability. I am one of them. I want Fox News to be forced to address inappropriate behavior by its hosts, contributors, producers and top executives.
If Ocasio-Cortez brought out Andrea Tantaros and Gretchen Carlson to one of her rallies to debate sexism and racism within the newsroom, I bet you money, Fox News would squirm.
Rupert Murdoch is the problem. It goes far past Fox News and Sean "Softball" Hannity. |
Who knows more about how Fox News treats women of color than former victims of sexual abuse?
Where are the leaders of the Democratic Party?
Are they too afraid to stand up and defend these women?
Fox News brought me up 3,000+ times in *6 weeks.*— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) April 12, 2019
That’s how hard they’re fighting against dignified healthcare, wages, & justice for all; and turning their firepower on the youngest Congresswoman in history to do it.
Too bad for them, cause we don’t flinch. #ForThePeople https://t.co/3FyuVOq6sq
@Ilhan full comments clearly speak to post 9/11 #Islamophobia Manipulating her remarks is defaming & dangerous for her & her family. Stop with this recklessness. @rupertmurdoch this is on you - stoking hate, fear & division, putting REAL lives at risk. Shame on you. https://t.co/fpemnGxQKk— Ayanna Pressley (@AyannaPressley) April 11, 2019
The NY Post knows exactly what it's doing - taking quotes out of context and evoking painful imagery to spread hate and endangering the life of Rep. Omar. Shame on them, and shame on Rupert Murdoch.— Rashida Tlaib (@RashidaTlaib) April 11, 2019
Women—especially women of color—have been told to go slow, to not be seen and to not be heard for many years.— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) April 12, 2019
We are not in Congress to be invisible. In the words of Congressman John Lewis, we are here to make good trouble. 💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/hJvMrRMbUS
Well they might as well be enablers of sexism, racism, Islamophobia and elitism. Because the Democratic Party's establishment are too focus on moderating instead of fighting for progressives who are tired of being maligned by the far-white.
This is a deliberate attack on a woman of color. I am for one am tired of Rupert Murdoch and his allies over at Fox News and The New York Post attacking women of color.
